- 0:09>> This is just a simple plastic container
- 0:12and it will be home for moss garden and
- 0:15I will collect the mosses with the help
- 0:18of this blade and in this video I will
- 0:20show you how to turn this ordinary box
- 0:23into a beautiful self-sustaining moss
- 0:26ecosystem using just only sand and
- 0:28naturally collected moss. So let's watch
- 0:31till end. Since it's the monsoon season,
- 0:34the old bricks here have become a
- 0:36perfect habitat for moss. Uh the
- 0:39constant moisture, cool temperatures,
- 0:40and shade create ideal conditions for
- 0:42moss to thrive naturally here in these
- 0:44conditions.
- 0:46Um this bright green cushion-like moss
- 0:49is most likely an acrocarpus moss,
- 0:51possibly from the genera Bryum,
- 0:54Dicranella, or Barbula. Uh identifying
- 0:56the exact species is impossible because
- 0:58there are so many uh similar-looking
- 1:00identical mosses.
- 1:02Uh to collect the entire moss without
- 1:04damaging it,
- 1:05I'm using a sharp razor blade instead of
- 1:09pulling it off.
- 1:10So I have to cut it and I'm gently just
- 1:13sliding the blade underneath the moss
- 1:14cushion and this helps lift the entire
- 1:17mat along with a thin layer of the
- 1:21material
- 1:22it's attached to like this. Look.
- 1:25This cluster of moss mosses and along
- 1:28with this
- 1:30the soil attached to it.
- 1:33See.
- 1:35This part.
- 1:37It's the moss I was talking about
- 1:40and I have to collect
- 1:42more like this.
- 1:44See.
- 1:45Uh
- 1:46let me focus it.
- 1:49Now see this.
- 1:51This is the moss I was talking about.
- 1:54It's really looking good like a
- 1:55beautiful mountain with forest. And I
- 1:58have to collect more like this one by
- 2:00one. So, let me slide again.
- 2:03>> [music]
- 2:14>> And I have collected this amount of
- 2:16healthy moss. And this is all I will
- 2:19need to start this project. Uh instead
- 2:22of disturbing it any further, I will
- 2:23leave it undisturbed so it can recover
- 2:27from the uh transplanting process.
- 2:30Uh moss doesn't have true roots.
- 2:33See,
- 2:34uh like most of the plants. Instead, uh
- 2:37it uses tiny hair-like structures called
- 2:40uh rhizoids.
- 2:42You know, which mainly help it anchor to
- 2:44the surface rather than absorb
- 2:47nutrients.
- 2:48And over the next few weeks, the moss
- 2:51will slowly attach itself to the sand
- 2:53and the soil, uh the natural soil which
- 2:56I have collected along with the mosses.
- 2:58And begin new root, new shoots. And
- 3:01uh as as long as the environment stays
- 3:03cool, humid, and shaded, it will
- 3:05continue to spread naturally and it will
- 3:08look cool. Now, look at the mosses. It
- 3:11is really looking good. And I will have
- 3:13to keep the soil constantly
- 3:16uh
- 3:16moist with clean water to make it
- 3:19perfect for growth. And with patience
- 3:21and minimal disturbance, this small
- 3:23collection can gradually develop into a
- 3:26dense, self-sustaining green carpet.
- 3:28>> Found that old journal, [music]
- 3:30Shubham's diary's faded ink bleeds
- 3:33through the lines. A younger me I barely
- 3:35[music]
- 3:36recognize. These pages hold forgotten
- 3:38chapters, a ghost in my own timeline.
- 3:41[singing]
- 3:44>> [music]
- 3:45[singing]
- 3:46>> you're still here right between the ink
- 3:49[music] and tears, lost inside the
- 3:51yellowed years.
