I Tried AI Meeting Note Takers… These Are the Best Ones — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00I tested some of the most popular AI
- 0:01meeting note takers and to be honest
- 0:04with you, most of them feel the exact
- 0:06same. They promise to record your
- 0:08meetings, transcribe everything, and
- 0:09give you perfect notes. But, here's the
- 0:12problem. If the transcript is wrong,
- 0:14everything is then wrong. And if you're
- 0:16in meetings all day, you already know
- 0:18how this goes. You're trying to listen,
- 0:20take part in the meeting, take notes,
- 0:22and you're missing all the important
- 0:24points. So, I tested some of the best AI
- 0:27meeting note takers in 2026 and here's
- 0:30some of the ones that actually work.
- 0:32Let's start off with Happy Scribe. This
- 0:34for me is one of the most complete tools
- 0:36I actually tested. Most AI note takers
- 0:39are just built for meetings. However,
- 0:41Happy Scribe does a lot more than that.
- 0:43You can use it for live meetings, upload
- 0:45recordings, or even record in-person
- 0:48conversations. So, it's not just locked
- 0:49into one workflow. Now, here's where it
- 0:52really stood out for me. The
- 0:53transcription accuracy is really strong
- 0:56and that matters more than anything
- 0:58else. Because when the transcription is
- 1:00right, everything else works. That being
- 1:01the summaries, the action points, and
- 1:03you can actually trust the output. And
- 1:06it also supports over 120 plus
- 1:08languages, which is huge when you're
- 1:09working in an international team with
- 1:11different accents and at different
- 1:13languages. But, you want to know what
- 1:14the biggest difference was for me? It
- 1:16doesn't just give you notes. You can
- 1:18turn your meetings into subtitles,
- 1:20translations, content, or even connected
- 1:23to AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude. So,
- 1:26instead of just storing your meetings
- 1:27for it just to collect dust, you're
- 1:28actually using them. Now, I'm not saying
- 1:31it's perfect. Some of the advanced
- 1:33features take a little bit more to set
- 1:34up. However, once it's running, it's
- 1:36easily one of the most powerful tools in
- 1:38here. Next, another one that stood out
- 1:40to me is Fireflies. This one is clearly
- 1:43built for teams. It integrates with
- 1:45everything. That being Zoom, Google
- 1:47Meets, Teams, and even Slack. So, if
- 1:50you're in a business environment with
- 1:51lots of frequent meetings, this can be
- 1:53really useful for you. It also
- 1:55integrates summaries, action points, and
- 1:57even lets you search across all your
- 1:59calls. However, it can feel a little bit
- 2:02overwhelming. There's a lot going on,
- 2:04and it's not the most beginner-friendly
- 2:06product. And honestly, it feels more of
- 2:08a sales tool rather than something
- 2:10that's built for creators. So, overall,
- 2:12it's great for teams, but for
- 2:14individuals, it's probably overkill for
- 2:16you. Now, next up on my list is Grain.
- 2:19This one's a little bit different. It's
- 2:20less about note-taking, and it's more
- 2:22about turning meetings into content. You
- 2:24can create moments, highlight sections,
- 2:27and share them instantly. So, if you're
- 2:29in content, product, or sales, it can be
- 2:31incredibly useful. However, it's a
- 2:33little bit limited overall. It can only
- 2:36handle one meeting at a time, and what I
- 2:37found is that the accuracy isn't as
- 2:39strong as the others, and it doesn't
- 2:41handle accents and languages that well.
- 2:44So, it's great for specific use cases,
- 2:46but it's not that all-round tool you may
- 2:47be looking for. Now, quick last mention
- 2:50is Granola. Not the cereal bar.
- 2:53The AI tool. This one's for the people
- 2:55that don't want bot joining their
- 2:56meetings. It records locally instead,
- 2:59which is great for privacy. But, due to
- 3:01this, you do lose some features. The
- 3:03speaker detection isn't as strong, and
- 3:05it's not as flexible as the others I've
- 3:07mentioned. So, it's a good option, it's
- 3:09just a little bit more limited. Now,
- 3:11after testing these, this is what I
- 3:13realized. They all look similar until
- 3:14you actually use them. Now, the biggest
- 3:17difference I found between each one of
- 3:18them is the accuracy. Because if the
- 3:21transcript is even slightly off,
- 3:24everything then becomes irrelevant. The
- 3:25summary, the action points, all those
- 3:27fancy features they give you are now
- 3:29kind of worthless because the AI is now
- 3:31confused, and it doesn't know what it's
- 3:33even writing about. So, after using all
- 3:35of these, this is how I'd personally
- 3:37rank them in my humble opinion,
- 3:39obviously wearing a Happy Scribe
- 3:40t-shirt. Now, number one, I'm going to
- 3:42give it to Happy Scribe. It's the best
- 3:43overall, most flexible, and actually
- 3:45useful beyond meetings. And I'm not just
- 3:47giving that because I work with Happy
- 3:49Scribe, it's because I genuinely felt
- 3:51this when utilizing the product. Now,
- 3:53number two spot I'm going to give to
- 3:54Fireflies. It's great for teams, but I
- 3:56felt it was a bit heavy for those
- 3:58individual cases. Now, number three I'm
- 4:00going to give it to Grain. It's great
- 4:01for clips and content, however, it's a
- 4:03little bit niche for my use. At the end
- 4:05of the day, if you're still taking notes
- 4:07manually in 2026, you're wasting your
- 4:10time. These tools exist for a reason.
- 4:13And trust me, once you start using the
- 4:15right one, you'll never go back.
