I Found a 10-Second Rep That Quietly Changes Your Mind’s Loop — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:03Hi, Joshua South here and in today's
- 0:05video I'm going to give you my most
- 0:07current understanding of exactly how I
- 0:11see the mind operating
- 0:13and I'm going to give a concrete
- 0:16reasoning as to why the system is focus
- 0:19operated and that reshaping rewiring and
- 0:24healing the mind is a pulsing process.
- 0:29It's not something we do one time and
- 0:31it's done. It's something that we pulse
- 0:34like repetitions. We pulse the idea into
- 0:38our mind and the mind has no choice but
- 0:42to follow.
- 0:47For some reason between friends and
- 0:48family, we don't talk about the fact
- 0:51that our subconscious mind autonomously
- 0:55generates the vast majority of our
- 0:58thoughts. It's so important that we
- 1:00start with that fundamental truth, that
- 1:04knowledge, that understanding about the
- 1:06way our mind works.
- 1:08Our thoughts are automatically generated
- 1:13by the subconscious mind. We react to
- 1:16our thoughts. We don't produce our
- 1:19thoughts. A good way for you to test
- 1:21that is to like stop the video and guess
- 1:25the next thought. Like just like go into
- 1:28silence for a couple seconds and then
- 1:30guess what the next thought's going to
- 1:31be.
- 1:33And you'll see that you have no freaking
- 1:35idea until it appears. And then you see
- 1:38it. And then you know what it is. But
- 1:41until it appears, you don't even know
- 1:43what it is. Once the thought appears,
- 1:45then you can make a decision off that
- 1:47thought. But the whole system is
- 1:49automatically
- 1:51generating itself in your thoughts.
- 1:54Waking up is becoming aware of that
- 1:57feedback loop, of the voice in our head,
- 2:00of the inner narrator. We become aware
- 2:03of its presence. We become aware that
- 2:06we're not the voice in our head. We're
- 2:10listening to it. when we identify with
- 2:13it, it hurts. It can hurt us really bad.
- 2:16If we have anxiety problems, if we have
- 2:18trauma, if we have uh doubts, worries,
- 2:21disbeliefs, all these different things,
- 2:22when we hear those thoughts and we
- 2:26believe they are us, they hurt us way
- 2:29worse. Way worse. So, we have to start
- 2:33with the understanding that the system
- 2:36itself is generating itself, right?
- 2:39We're plugged into this thing. We wake
- 2:41up in the morning, it turns on and it's
- 2:42filling our mind full of thoughts. Well,
- 2:45the way to operate the system is
- 2:49understand that it's focus operated.
- 2:53What I mean by that is where we put our
- 2:56focus, our mind begins to fill in
- 2:59information about what we're focusing
- 3:01on. If we focus on work, it starts
- 3:04telling us everything about work. If we
- 3:06focus on our significant other, it
- 3:08starts telling us everything about that
- 3:10person. If we focus on our pet, the the
- 3:14mind starts talking about our pet,
- 3:16starts thinking about our pet, right? So
- 3:18the system is focus operated. But
- 3:20there's a major major major catch that
- 3:24we have to always remind ourselves about
- 3:27the mind. The mind is controlling our
- 3:31focus.
- 3:36So the mind is programmed by our focus
- 3:39but the mind controls our focus which is
- 3:42the which is the great catch 22 of all
- 3:45time. It's creating your thoughts which
- 3:47means it's controlling your focus. We
- 3:50have to become aware of that because if
- 3:52we focus on what it says, we reloop the
- 3:56same system and it stays the same,
- 3:59right? Because the story is streaming
- 4:02into our thoughts. If we focus on it and
- 4:05we just uh unconscious like we just are
- 4:08asleep, meaning we're the passenger,
- 4:11meaning we're following what our
- 4:13subconscious mind tells us. Our
- 4:14subconscious mind is telling us a story.
- 4:16As we focus on that story, we show it
- 4:20back to the mind. It records it and
- 4:22shows it back to us again and we get
- 4:24stuck in a loop. So, we have to control
- 4:27our focus.
- 4:32Here's an incredibly easy way for you to
- 4:35learn how to control your focus. Set an
- 4:38alarm on your phone. Three, four, five
- 4:42times a day, a little beep goes off. And
- 4:44when that little beep goes off, what I
- 4:47want you to do is ask yourself what
- 4:49you're thinking in that moment. You can
- 4:51even write it down so you have a visual
- 4:53memory of it. Ask yourself what you're
- 4:55thinking in that moment. How long have
- 4:57you been thinking about it? And do you
- 5:00want to keep thinking about it? Do you
- 5:02want to follow that thought?
- 5:05What you're thinking about right now? Do
- 5:06you want to keep thinking about it?
- 5:07That's it. Just just answer that
- 5:09question with yourself. When you do
- 5:11that, if you ask yourself, what am I
- 5:13thinking right now? How long have I been
- 5:16thinking it? Do I want to follow that
- 5:18thought? You are actively becoming aware
- 5:20of the narrator. And you're deciding if
- 5:24you want to keep going with that
- 5:27unconsciously sto that unconscious story
- 5:29that you've been following for however
- 5:30long you've been following it, or do you
- 5:32want to move into a different place in
- 5:34the mind. Every time you move into a
- 5:36different place in the mind, you change
- 5:38your focus.
- 5:40Every time you change your focus, you
- 5:42reshape you start to reshape your mind.
- 5:45Every single time you do it, you tweak
- 5:48the system a little bit. You continually
- 5:52pull it off of whatever negative,
- 5:55mundane, useless things that we think
- 5:57about, right? We catch ourselves
- 5:59thinking about something that happened
- 6:0010 years ago.
- 6:02If we just unconsciously follow the
- 6:04pattern and ruminate and continue to
- 6:07ruminate, we just stay stuck focusing on
- 6:09it. The system captures our focus and
- 6:13keeps us stuck in that loop. Waking up
- 6:17is becoming aware of the loop and
- 6:21deciding for yourself if you want to
- 6:23follow it or not.
- 6:27If you do this and just change your
- 6:31focus over and over and over again, you
- 6:34teach the mind what is important to you.
- 6:38You show your mind what it's what it
- 6:40should focus on. What do you want it to
- 6:42focus on?
- 6:44Don't just follow what it's telling you
- 6:46to focus on. No, you start deciding what
- 6:48you want your mind to focus on. Once you
- 6:51become aware of that feedback loop and
- 6:54you start to guide it, then you can
- 6:57start like reshaping the entire system.
- 7:01And I've been getting a lot of people
- 7:02emailing me, asking me questions about
- 7:04how they can uh follow my process step
- 7:07by step. I've also been getting a lot of
- 7:10emails from people that I I feel really
- 7:13bad because I'm trying so hard to keep
- 7:15up with all the comments. I can't keep
- 7:16up with the comments. um the emails that
- 7:19I've been getting, I can't keep up with
- 7:20it. What I'm going to do is I'm going to
- 7:23build a program. Um and I'm really
- 7:26excited about doing it because it's
- 7:28going to force me to understand what I'm
- 7:29saying more clearly. So, I'm going to
- 7:32put together a program, uh a system, a
- 7:35method that somebody can follow. I'm
- 7:38going to call it the mind art method
- 7:41because I think the mind is like a piece
- 7:44of art. The way that I see it is
- 7:47everyone has their own unique way of
- 7:49dealing with their their thoughts. How
- 7:52entranced do they become by their
- 7:54thoughts? Each person is unique
- 7:58approaching the atmosphere of our
- 8:00thoughts like an like like a piece of
- 8:02energy. Like that's the way I look at
- 8:04it. like like this symphony of energy
- 8:06inside my mind and and my awareness is
- 8:09the conductor
- 8:11and I'm guiding these these patterns of
- 8:14information and data with my focus.
- 8:19I'm coming online controlling my focus
- 8:23and organizing what my mind I'm showing
- 8:26my mind what to show me. the more that I
- 8:29show it love, the more that I, you know,
- 8:32do things like in my world, in my life
- 8:35where I'm feeling good, I'm taking care
- 8:37of myself, I'm taking care of the people
- 8:38around me, every time I do that, my mind
- 8:41records that energy and shows it back to
- 8:43me. So, it's it's really quite simple
- 8:46when you understand the concept behind
- 8:48it. It's really really quite simple. So,
- 8:50I'm going to put together a system. Um,
- 8:53and thankfully I've got artificial
- 8:55intelligence to help me with all that
- 8:56because it would be impossible for me to
- 8:59read every book and understand how does
- 9:01cognitive behavioral therapy go together
- 9:03with what I'm saying. Where does it
- 9:05overlap? How is it different? How is
- 9:08neural linguistic programming,
- 9:09metacognition, mindfulness? I would
- 9:11never how does Jung Jod dispensa echer,
- 9:15right? like how all did all these great
- 9:17speakers what did they say versus what
- 9:20I'm saying and how can I put it into uh
- 9:23some type of system that can help
- 9:25someone become aware of their inner
- 9:28narrator
- 9:31and gain control of their focus because
- 9:34that is literally what this entire thing
- 9:36is about what I think it's about
- 9:39replacing a thought with another thought
- 9:41I mean that works I'm not saying you I
- 9:44mean add that to it you know do that
- 9:45too, you know, turn thoughts into better
- 9:48thoughts or just sit with thoughts, hold
- 9:50them and feel the thought, you know,
- 9:52just like let the energy move through
- 9:53you. Do all that stuff too. But I think
- 9:56the main mechanism is our focus because
- 9:59I mean a perfect example is imagine
- 10:01you're like thinking about this thing
- 10:03that you're just that happened 10 years
- 10:05ago and you're so wrapped up in the
- 10:07story, you're feeling the emotions
- 10:10everywhere inside your body and then
- 10:12someone walks in the room and starts
- 10:13talking to you about work.
- 10:1610 seconds later or 20 seconds later,
- 10:18that whole story that you were just
- 10:19feeling and thinking about is completely
- 10:21gone. You didn't do anything to the
- 10:25story. Nothing was resolved, but it is
- 10:27gone. You don't feel it at all anymore
- 10:29because you changed your focus.
- 10:31So yes, we have to go to counseling. We
- 10:34got to go to therapy. We other otherwise
- 10:36those thoughts will just keep repeating
- 10:37inside of our minds. We have to do all
- 10:40the things. But understanding that our
- 10:42mind is focus operated and because we
- 10:46can we can grab a hold of our focus.
- 10:48Every single person out there I know can
- 10:50grab a hold of their focus when they
- 10:52want to. So that's what my program
- 10:55that's what my system is going to be
- 10:56about. If anybody wants to join the beta
- 10:58program, you can find my email address
- 11:01here on YouTube in the channel
- 11:02description.
- 11:04Joshua.mmindartgmail.com.
- 11:08So, um, hit me up. And that's all I got
- 11:12for this video.
