  1. 0:00a Vinci Surgical System
  2. 0:05is the most advances streamlined
  3. 0:07surgical experience for minimally
  4. 0:09invasive surgery I could build that
  5. 0:14[Music]
  6. 0:20hey how's everyone's global health
  7. 0:22crisis going my house is on full goddamn
  8. 0:24quarantine and I'll probably be dead in
  9. 0:26a week anyway not from the virus like
  10. 0:28like a electrocution accident or
  11. 0:29something it's actually given me a lot
  12. 0:30of free time and what better way to
  13. 0:32spend a free time right now than to help
  14. 0:33the medical industry and I can't do any
  15. 0:35chemistry or biology or like body stuff
  16. 0:38yeah but I can do robotics and let me
  17. 0:40tell you those da Vinci Surgery robotics
  18. 0:42rat bastards are ripping hospitals off
  19. 0:44look at this two million dollars for one
  20. 0:46shitty robot they can spend that on a
  21. 0:48couple hundred bandages or like one
  22. 0:49ambulance right in the US we can build a
  23. 0:51better surgery robot for a lot less come
  24. 0:53on the biggest flaw in da Vinci's design
  25. 0:54is that it relies on these clunky slow
  26. 0:56robotic arms for movement say you're
  27. 0:58operating on a patient's life you start
  28. 1:00screaming out in pain you got to get up
  29. 1:01to a suite smack him around a little bit
  30. 1:02making shut up good [ __ ] luck with
  31. 1:04these robotic arms they're slow as [ __ ]
  32. 1:06and they don't have any travel distance
  33. 1:08instead we're gonna mount the surgical
  34. 1:09tools to a rail system that can move
  35. 1:10anywhere on the operating table
  36. 1:12hey look it's past Michael you know took
  37. 1:13them five whole days to 3d model and
  38. 1:15build one rail carriage what a [ __ ]
  39. 1:17and I shut the [ __ ] up this shit's hard
  40. 1:19biggie you little [ __ ] I'm the narrator
  41. 1:20I'm like God you cannot kill me here's
  42. 1:23what the final carriage looks like you
  43. 1:25see it uses wheel bearings there trouble
  44. 1:26up and down the slots in this aluminum
  45. 1:28rod but Michael you just gonna use your
  46. 1:29hand to make it move no you're stupid
  47. 1:31and I hate you for power we're using a
  48. 1:33brushless DC motor and an o drive to
  49. 1:35turn this into kind of like a brushless
  50. 1:37servo motor - I know what that means
  51. 1:39absolutely [ __ ] not I've never done
  52. 1:41this before what I do know is someone
  53. 1:43told my voice crack what I do know is
  54. 1:45someone told me this would be fast and
  55. 1:46very accurate and all you have to do to
  56. 1:48put it in is
  57. 1:49[Music]
  58. 1:54I forgot to record all the sound effects
  59. 1:56okay give me a [ __ ] break
  60. 1:58hey I got the motor very professionally
  61. 2:01hooked up to the driver board which is
  62. 2:03hooked up to my computer so we can see
  63. 2:04what this thing can do okay so this is
  64. 2:07the like calibration sequence I needs to
  65. 2:08do this before it actually runs oh
  66. 2:11that's so [ __ ] sick oh I think it it
  67. 2:14should be a little faster though oh okay
  68. 2:17the motor has default parameters so you
  69. 2:19can just turn those off let's try it out
  70. 2:20now oh that's good this that's fast I
  71. 2:32mean one second okay you just stand down
  72. 2:34right there we just got to put a few of
  73. 2:41these together and it looks like this I
  74. 2:43did the perky little snap teleportation
  75. 2:44thing right that was three weeks ago I'm
  76. 2:46[ __ ] tired but I built this test
  77. 2:48platform out of aluminum and wood that I
  78. 2:50stole from my girlfriend's bed frame
  79. 2:52it's not like I can go to Home Depot on
  80. 2:54quarantine it's just a prototype so I
  81. 2:56can write and test the software before I
  82. 2:57build the actual thing but even the
  83. 2:59prototype is pretty cool it's the same
  84. 3:00idea with the motor carriage on the
  85. 3:02x-axis but now we have two additional
  86. 3:03motors on the y-axis and on their own
  87. 3:05they're just motors they don't know how
  88. 3:06to talk to each other they don't know
  89. 3:07how to cooperate but if you read some
  90. 3:09software they can talk to all the motors
  91. 3:10you can make it do pretty much anything
  92. 3:11you want this is the homing sequence it
  93. 3:14figured out the bounds of the machine by
  94. 3:16measuring the amperage of the motor on
  95. 3:18the motors when they stop yeah you can
  96. 3:23make it you can make it do this [ __ ]
  97. 3:25maybe not as stable as you want it to be
  98. 3:27but yeah it's just a prototype so stupid
  99. 3:31so I'm controlling with my mouse right
  100. 3:32now it looks jerky and awful but it's
  101. 3:34actually got a really good amount of
  102. 3:36precision to it it's kind of going in a
  103. 3:38circle from the top-down view like I
  104. 3:39said this is not the final surgery robot
  105. 3:42it's gonna be much more refined much
  106. 3:43more medical looking you know much more
  107. 3:45safe for the user and all that movement
  108. 3:47was controlled by the code I wrote don't
  109. 3:48worry I'm not gonna show it I know
  110. 3:49everyone thinks is boring so excited I
  111. 3:51don't give a [ __ ] what you think look at
  112. 3:52this dynamic bounds detection routine
  113. 3:54that's [ __ ] sick here's a limit
  114. 3:56switch you can put it here didn't take
  115. 3:57the bounds of your machine via [ __ ] that
  116. 3:59limit switch it scream instead write
  117. 4:01some code that steps the motor forward
  118. 4:02until it starts using a lot of power
  119. 4:03then you know you the edge of the rail
  120. 4:05and then you know exact
  121. 4:06you are in relation to the balance of
  122. 4:07the machine it's [ __ ] sick look how
  123. 4:09cool the cold part is guys I'm gonna
  124. 4:11keep going this part applies the scaling
  125. 4:12factors that are calculated as a
  126. 4:14function of the input but Michael I hear
  127. 4:16you ask so you can move the carriage
  128. 4:17over any part of the operating table you
  129. 4:19want great but how are you gonna move
  130. 4:21the medical tools up and down to engage
  131. 4:23with the patient well that's where the
  132. 4:24carry edge utility mechanism comes into
  133. 4:26play that's the thing that's gonna move
  134. 4:27the scalpel or the clamp or whatever up
  135. 4:29and down which is great there's just a
  136. 4:30small problem slight problem well I
  137. 4:32built it I built it which is a good
  138. 4:33thing my original plan was you know just
  139. 4:34to have a thin piece of plastic with a
  140. 4:36motor attached to it that moves a play
  141. 4:38easy but then I thought I saw that thing
  142. 4:40okay there's no way that's gonna survive
  143. 4:42so I'm gonna make it a little strong
  144. 4:43yeah I may as well make a goal of faster
  145. 4:45I got a little carried away and it looks
  146. 4:47like a time bomb and it weighs ten
  147. 4:48[ __ ] fell it works great the motor
  148. 4:50precisely moves the mounting plate up
  149. 4:52and down wherever you wanted to go the
  150. 4:54thing is I just don't know if those
  151. 4:55motors can handle ten pounds so we're
  152. 4:57gonna have to do a little test Michael
  153. 4:59why don't you just use the period
  154. 5:00utility mechanism to test it out well it
  155. 5:03took me a long time to build and it's
  156. 5:04[ __ ] beautiful
  157. 5:05so prime or it looks like it's handling
  158. 5:07small movements pretty well y-axis
  159. 5:10action okay that's not that bad oh it's
  160. 5:13fine it'll be slide we're gonna probably
  161. 5:15just go ahead and make the final version
  162. 5:17and it looks like this I do the stupid
  163. 5:19hand thing again it's been three more
  164. 5:20weeks I've severe depression but Michael
  165. 5:22where's the surgery robot wait for it
  166. 5:24wait for it Oh big reveal this is the
  167. 5:26surgery we'll buy massive payoff huge I
  168. 5:28have brain damage
  169. 5:29behold the superior surgery robot you da
  170. 5:31Vinci [ __ ] Orton's
  171. 5:32it's got the come it's got the cable
  172. 5:34management it's got the super [ __ ]
  173. 5:36hard-to-reach driver boards like don't
  174. 5:37know why put him under here I thought it
  175. 5:39would look cool Michael work doesn't
  176. 5:42work it doesn't work I don't know if it
  177. 5:45works I haven't turned it on yet I've
  178. 5:46been too afraid since it took me so long
  179. 5:47to build so I turned the camera on so
  180. 5:49you can at least see my tears when it
  181. 5:51tears itself apart I'm worried about
  182. 5:52this [ __ ] because when I built it I like
  183. 5:54the bull the caveman brain metal strong
  184. 5:56metal not strong metal more like
  185. 5:58McDonald's playplace trampoline but you
  186. 6:00got to take chances when you're
  187. 6:02innovating on the next great thing so
  188. 6:03I'm gonna turn it on oh god oh boy yeah
  189. 6:07okay please are the machines working now
  190. 6:11we can start to control it but Michael
  191. 6:13where's the controller [ __ ] you you are
  192. 6:15the controller I got this VR hand
  193. 6:17tracking camera off of Amazon that works
  194. 6:19super goddamn well so you just take the
  195. 6:20hand coordinates from this pipe him in
  196. 6:22the surgery robot and bing-bang-boom
  197. 6:24oh [ __ ] you DaVinci robotics you can
  198. 6:34move my thing with just floating your
  199. 6:36hand around robot go here robot be
  200. 6:38surgery hero no patient bleeding there
  201. 6:40oh do surgery there on that part how
  202. 6:43about you'd be surgery over here now
  203. 6:45this is you over there and now the
  204. 6:46surgery but you da Vinci shitty robot
  205. 6:49can't do that you need to squeeze those
  206. 6:51little metal robot cheeks to do yours
  207. 6:53[ __ ] before I sell my design to surgeons
  208. 6:56across the nation we have to attach some
  209. 6:58surgical tools to the come because
  210. 7:00otherwise it's just a big-ass robot so
  211. 7:02let's buy a scalpel on Amazon wow that
  212. 7:04is just unacceptable scalpels are gonna
  213. 7:06take a whole three days well that's
  214. 7:08pretty reasonable but no that's messed
  215. 7:10up dang global health crisis that's far
  216. 7:12too long if only I had an alternative
  217. 7:15you really think about it scalpels are
  218. 7:17just shitty smaller knives so why don't
  219. 7:19we just use bigger better knives like
  220. 7:21Hello we already have those wake up
  221. 7:24sheeple are you tired of outdated
  222. 7:26surgical technology are you looking for
  223. 7:28the cutting edge and power precision and
  224. 7:31usability look no further the future of
  225. 7:33surgical robotics is here unlike some
  226. 7:40other surgical systems we've run a gamut
  227. 7:42of tests to ensure our machine has power
  228. 7:45I'm gonna stab a pineapple mincing the
  229. 7:48operation operate on it surgically over
  230. 7:53here now patient small incision a small
  231. 7:57incision we're all moving the patient
  232. 7:59and commence surgery on the patient the
  233. 8:01power isn't the only thing we strive for
  234. 8:03precision is an essential tenet of
  235. 8:05surgery and we make no exceptions when
  236. 8:07testing for accuracy ding ding Lily come
  237. 8:13on please
  238. 8:13[Music]
  239. 8:19oh yeah I'm not gonna pressure you but
  240. 8:32this is supposed to show how accurate my
  241. 8:33machine is gonna be so long let's see a
  242. 8:41DaVinci try to do that you might be
  243. 8:43wondering is the system fda-approved but
  244. 8:49don't just take our word for it here's
  245. 8:51what a real medical professional has to
  246. 8:52say about this innovative new technology
  247. 8:55we're gonna go for like a laparoscopic
  248. 8:56appendectomy so if we just make a small
  249. 8:58incision above the chest here we can a
  250. 9:03little bit more difficult for some
  251. 9:04procedures but not you can see you still
  252. 9:07have a lot more accurate control than a
  253. 9:09lot of surgical systems [ __ ] off
  254. 9:12like I was saying moving the patient is
  255. 9:14a lot easier with the system like
  256. 9:16normally enough to manually move them
  257. 9:18newbie would you add this to your
  258. 9:20hospital you think hospitals could adopt
  259. 9:23seems a little dangerous okay I
  260. 9:25appreciate the feedback
  261. 9:27you're wrong last but not least we've
  262. 9:29made our machines so intuitive that
  263. 9:30anyone can do surgery with no prior
  264. 9:33training so you've never seen this clean
  265. 9:34machine before in your life it's perfect
  266. 9:36because this study is to see if we can
  267. 9:39bring someone from zero skill level all
  268. 9:41the way up to the ability of a surgeon
  269. 9:42dude up right in front I'm not too close
  270. 9:44because it's kind of dangerous though
  271. 9:46just put your hand up
  272. 9:50could you just put your hand out above
  273. 9:52the things higher up control the knife
  274. 9:55cause if you can move it further closer
  275. 9:57and it'll get further away from you
  276. 9:59we're gonna make a small incision right
  277. 10:01above the ear another incision to stop
  278. 10:13plug the hole with the knife yeah got
  279. 10:14perfect nice yeah you owe this listen
  280. 10:18it's okay no it's fine it's it's
  281. 10:20learning it's a learning experience
  282. 10:21crying retracts a knife from
  283. 10:23the head let's just try and get it out
  284. 10:25of ya okay good incision if your
  285. 10:34patients over here and you don't want
  286. 10:35them to be able to move them over here
  287. 10:37do some surgery over here and move them
  288. 10:38back I don't even know what surgery this
  289. 10:39is supposed to be
  290. 10:40thank you for watching that concludes
  291. 10:42research and development for my surgical
  292. 10:45system if you're a hospital looking to
  293. 10:46try it out follow me on Twitter
  294. 10:48subscribe to me on youtube and maybe
  295. 10:50just maybe I'll let you borrow it for a
  296. 10:52bit
  297. 10:52remember stay in school smoke crack [ __ ]
  298. 10:55you to Vinci robots by this YouTube
  299. 10:58video is sponsored by Ray Khan I have to
  300. 11:01send them aside early and they're gonna
  301. 11:02have no [ __ ] idea what's going on ray
  302. 11:04cons are super convenient wireless
  303. 11:05earbuds they come in at about half the
  304. 11:07price of any other premium option but
  305. 11:09it's not a sacrifice for quality they
  306. 11:10sound just as good at any other top
  307. 11:12audio brands I said it before but I've
  308. 11:13been using ray concepts before they even
  309. 11:15sponsored me I just needed something
  310. 11:16Wireless and affordable and they ended
  311. 11:18up being really good quality too I more
  312. 11:19than the entire time I was assembling
  313. 11:21parts of the surgery robot which is no
  314. 11:22problem for their new everyday e25
  315. 11:24because I got 6 hours of battery life
  316. 11:26seamless bluetooth pairing they fit
  317. 11:28really well at the end of the day I just
  318. 11:29[ __ ] care that they're good ear buds
  319. 11:31and I don't have to worry about them
  320. 11:33they just [ __ ] work so if you're
  321. 11:34interested click the link in the
  322. 11:35description to go to buy recon comm
  323. 11:37slash Reeves for 15% off your order
  324. 11:39I want to thank recon again cuz the
  325. 11:40parts of this video really started to
  326. 11:42add up after a while and I don't think I
  327. 11:43would have been able to do it without
  328. 11:44their support so thank you I appreciate
  329. 11:46it and again if you're interested go to
  330. 11:48buy rake on coms luxurious or 15% off
  331. 11:50that's the end of the video that's the
