  1. 0:00Why do Asian people look like that?
  2. 0:02Well, I've got some theories.
  3. 0:15[music]
  4. 0:18>> This is my girlfriend's dog, Dinky, and
  5. 0:20I love him. He [music] does bark at me
  6. 0:22non-stop, even though I've been with him
  7. 0:23since he was a puppy. Great dog. Still,
  8. 0:25unrelated [music] note, you ever just
  9. 0:26want to build a catapult? You ever just
  10. 0:27want to go to the Home Depot and buy
  11. 0:28some wood and then build a freaking
  12. 0:30catapult? [music] Two completely
  13. 0:30unrelated things. And leg would look at
  14. 0:32that. We're here. I was doing some
  15. 0:33research on how to build a catapult. I
  16. 0:35tried chatting teeth, but [music] it
  17. 0:36didn't really help that much. But then I
  18. 0:38found this picture of a catapult on
  19. 0:39Google images, and I feel like that's
  20. 0:40good enough. It's mostly wood. Why
  21. 0:42should it shoot dogs in particular? I
  22. 0:43mean, it could be anything. It doesn't
  23. 0:44have to shoot dogs. I just think it
  24. 0:46would be kind of interesting for the
  25. 0:47YouTube scientific community.
  26. 0:51Where is bunching cords? [music]
  27. 0:56>> Catapult time. Do you guys like it? Do
  28. 0:58you think it's freaking sweet? Yeah, it
  29. 1:00turns out it's actually not that hard to
  30. 1:01build a catapult. It's really just
  31. 1:02mostly wood. I kind of just went Red
  32. 1:03Dead Redemption 2 Amish style on it.
  33. 1:06Probably going to have to test it inside
  34. 1:07because I moved into a new garage.
  35. 1:09There's no yard at this place. I moved
  36. 1:11in with Lily and it's been going
  37. 1:12perfect. Almost perfect.
  38. 1:16Anyways, let me show you. Got like a
  39. 1:17rubber hose that I found. I like this.
  40. 1:19This is pretty cool. It's a doorork knob
  41. 1:20that we had lying around. Turn the
  42. 1:22doorork knob. Boom. Fire.
  43. 1:24>> Hello. Hey, look what I built.
  44. 1:26>> What is that?
  45. 1:27>> Catapult.
  46. 1:27>> For what?
  47. 1:28>> Uh, look for launching stuff.
  48. 1:29>> Like, what do you What are you
  49. 1:31launching?
  50. 1:32>> I got some uh fruits.
  51. 1:37>> Holy [ __ ]
  52. 1:39>> A man.
  53. 1:40>> What are you trying to
  54. 1:42>> I just want I want to fling like
  55. 1:43something [music] [ __ ] far.
  56. 1:46>> So random. [laughter]
  57. 1:47Bye.
  58. 1:48>> Bye.
  59. 1:52>> [music]
  60. 1:52>> Now, the astute among you might say,
  61. 1:54"Hey, that just looks like a normal
  62. 1:55catapult." And if I had it my way,
  63. 1:57[music] I'd sentence you to 10 years
  64. 1:58hard labor just for saying that. But I
  65. 1:59do agree it could be cooler. Like, what
  66. 2:01if it shot automatically [music] certain
  67. 2:03objects or animals, you know, could be
  68. 2:05anything. So, I have a shitty webcam
  69. 2:06setup and we're going to write some
  70. 2:07Python to look out of it. Going to make
  71. 2:08a camera object. Run it. Nice. We're
  72. 2:11just going to capture that over and
  73. 2:12over. And now that we have a video feed
  74. 2:13going in Python, I want to detect if
  75. 2:15there's a dog anywhere in the frame or
  76. 2:16anything. It could be any object. We
  77. 2:19could make a model to do that ourselves,
  78. 2:20but I think instead we're just going to
  79. 2:22steal one.
  80. 2:24We're just going to steal one. Go ahead
  81. 2:26and run that bad boy. And uh that's not
  82. 2:28detections, that's numbers. Yeah, you
  83. 2:30still got to draw the boxes yourself
  84. 2:31like a [ __ ] caveman. But after that,
  85. 2:33it works fine. I made a bunch of
  86. 2:34different colors for each different
  87. 2:35object. You should probably test it on
  88. 2:37the real thing.
  89. 2:39>> Yeah. No, I know. Yep. Yep. Good boy.
  90. 2:41Good boy. Yes. Yes. I'm going to shoot
  91. 2:44you off the roof, pal. I'm gonna send
  92. 2:46you to [ __ ] space. But first, we got
  93. 2:48to get this code off my computer onto
  94. 2:49the catapult, which is going to be hard
  95. 2:51because it's all the way over there. And
  96. 2:52also, it's made out of wood. Hey, so
  97. 2:54it's been a couple weeks since that last
  98. 2:56bit. And oh man, I I I don't know how
  99. 2:59this keeps happening to me. I had to run
  100. 3:00the code, so I threw in a
  101. 3:01microcontroller, but then I needed a box
  102. 3:03to put the microcontroller in. So, I
  103. 3:05ordered an electronics enclosure on
  104. 3:06Amazon. And after a night of peaceful
  105. 3:08soldering, it was looking really good.
  106. 3:09Then, I needed some way for that to
  107. 3:10trigger the catapult firing. And so my
  108. 3:12next idea was I feel like I'm doing a
  109. 3:14[ __ ] MIT maker portfolio rejected.
  110. 3:17What the [ __ ] am I talking about? Oh,
  111. 3:18firing mechanism. This was my first
  112. 3:20idea. Pretty much all it does is you
  113. 3:21pull the catapult arm back with a rope
  114. 3:23and this severs the connection to that
  115. 3:24rope, which is a super good idea. Is
  116. 3:27what I thought it was. Yeah, it turns
  117. 3:28out even a 4ft tall Filipino boy is too
  118. 3:31heavy for the shitty piston to handle.
  119. 3:32So instead, I built this metal hook type
  120. 3:34of thing. I got the idea from those 3D
  121. 3:36animated how a gun works videos. And I
  122. 3:38have no idea why this one works and the
  123. 3:40last one didn't. If any physics people
  124. 3:42have an answer, type it in the comments
  125. 3:43and then immediately delete it. I don't
  126. 3:45need that [ __ ] nerd [ __ ] I added a
  127. 3:46bunch more [ __ ] too, like this winch.
  128. 3:48Okay, this is test number [ __ ]
  129. 3:50whatever.
  130. 3:55And then I take this off
  131. 3:58and I added a camera to see the object.
  132. 4:00But a lot of it's unnecessary. I do this
  133. 4:02thing when I build stuff. I just keep
  134. 4:04adding [ __ ] on to it even though the
  135. 4:05main bit is done. And it's cuz I don't
  136. 4:07want to stop building it cuz it's fun.
  137. 4:08But a lot of the time it just makes the
  138. 4:10overall product worse. [music]
  139. 4:13>> But not this time, baby. Look at this
  140. 4:16thing. Look how [ __ ] cool it looks.
  141. 4:18You could launch literally anything with
  142. 4:20this. The wind just makes Oh my god,
  143. 4:22that is so [ __ ] loud. Just makes
  144. 4:23things so convenient. No matter how hard
  145. 4:25you want to fling your dog. Hey, editor
  146. 4:27Michael here. It looks like I was so
  147. 4:28excited to tell you what the catapult
  148. 4:30does that I forgot to tell you uh what
  149. 4:32the catapult does. How did that happen?
  150. 4:33[ __ ] if I know. I made it so it can fire
  151. 4:35itself automatically depending on what
  152. 4:37object it sees. So, it's always watching
  153. 4:38its firing zone, like where do you load
  154. 4:40in the objects, and it just waits until
  155. 4:42it sees something that you told it to
  156. 4:43fire. It'll do everything for you. All
  157. 4:45you got to do is put in the object you
  158. 4:46want to launch. Or maybe the object
  159. 4:48wanders in. Maybe the object wanders in
  160. 4:49cuz I smeared a little bit of peanut
  161. 4:51butter at the bottom of the launching
  162. 4:52zone. Anyways, hope that cleared things
  163. 4:53up. Now, to transition back to the
  164. 4:55video, I have to say power. Speaking of
  165. 4:57power, the maximum bungee cords we tried
  166. 4:59was two, and it blowed up. So, I'm
  167. 5:01thinking like six.
  168. 5:04>> Climb up a ladder with a hammer and a
  169. 5:06nail. Oh my god. What does that mean? If
  170. 5:09all my weight can't pull it back. Oh
  171. 5:11[laughter] no. We should probably test
  172. 5:13it. All right. I'm going to go ahead and
  173. 5:15arm it. It's going to know when to stop
  174. 5:17because when the arm touches the spring,
  175. 5:19these two wires are going to touch and
  176. 5:21complete a circuit. Thank god it worked.
  177. 5:23And now it's primed.
  178. 5:26[ __ ] That's probably fine. Now you'll
  179. 5:28see the vision system. I have it set up
  180. 5:29to detect uh fruits like bananas and
  181. 5:32apples, but you could really type
  182. 5:33anything you want in there. And if you
  183. 5:35look at the camera, we got like this.
  184. 5:37Hey, [music] I'm Michael and I'm here to
  185. 5:39tell you about timers. No, not that kind
  186. 5:41of timer, silly. I'm talking the timers
  187. 5:43we use in [music] software. See,
  188. 5:44software runs pretty fast. So, if you
  189. 5:46forget to slow things down with a timer,
  190. 5:48like [ __ ] over here. Then the exact
  191. 5:50frame that your fruit [music] touches
  192. 5:51the catapult's firing zone, it's going
  193. 5:53to go off. And that's a recipe for
  194. 5:55disaster. And if you look at the camera,
  195. 5:56we got like this. OH, [ __ ]
  196. 5:58>> OH, I'm going to be finding banana for
  197. 5:59the rest of my life. Hey, Lily, come
  198. 6:01here real quick.
  199. 6:03>> It's a catapult. Oh,
  200. 6:04>> you want to see it shoot?
  201. 6:05>> Okay. Where are you going to put it?
  202. 6:06>> This freaking watermelon. When I put the
  203. 6:08watermelon in, we got a few seconds cuz
  204. 6:10I put a timer on it this time. Oh, [ __ ]
  205. 6:12It's okay. It's okay. It's okay. It just
  206. 6:14thinks the rubber band's a banana.
  207. 6:15>> Yeah. Look, I'm genius.
  208. 6:17>> Look at that. Excuse the watermelon.
  209. 6:18Great.
  210. 6:24[screaming]
  211. 6:25>> My light.
  212. 6:27>> It was cool though, right?
  213. 6:28>> It's cool, but your light's [ __ ]
  214. 6:30>> You can shoot all kinds of things with
  215. 6:31this. Will you shoot Dinky? Yeah, he'd
  216. 6:33die.
  217. 6:34>> Yeah, he'd die.
  218. 6:35>> Okay, bye.
  219. 6:37>> No, we're not doing that again. Now,
  220. 6:38what we got to do is Well, I I got
  221. 6:40another watermelon. POV, you're my
  222. 6:42girlfriend's dog.
  223. 6:50It works. Now I can finally do [music]
  224. 6:52what I've been planning this entire
  225. 6:53time. I'm going to launch this little
  226. 6:56stick to play fetch with Dinky. And
  227. 6:59hopefully we'll bond enough where he
  228. 7:00doesn't feel the need to bark at me. So,
  229. 7:01let's take this thing outside and Oh.
  230. 7:08Oh, that is a shame. And I can't change
  231. 7:11it back. The catapult only shoots dogs
  232. 7:13now. So, the next logical step, make a
  233. 7:14dog out of ballistics gel and launch it.
  234. 7:16And you might say, "Michael, what the
  235. 7:18fuck?" But I just want to make sure
  236. 7:19because if a dog wanders into the
  237. 7:20catapult, I don't want it to get hurt. I
  238. 7:22want it to [ __ ] die.
  239. 7:25They do sell ballistic gel online, but
  240. 7:27weirdly enough, not in the shape of a
  241. 7:28dog. So, to make our own, we're going to
  242. 7:30need a three print mold. Coat the inside
  243. 7:31with high heat epoxy. Put a hole in it.
  244. 7:33Not like that. Put a condom in it. Not
  245. 7:35like that. The the condom is full of
  246. 7:37salt water so that it is negatively
  247. 7:39buoyant when I pour the gelatin in the
  248. 7:41dog so that there's a cavity for the
  249. 7:43blood. It's It's all fine. Then clamp it
  250. 7:45together. Pour a bunch of boiling
  251. 7:46gelatin in. Then set it in the fridge at
  252. 7:49my friend's house. I'm glossing over
  253. 7:50maybe 90 hours of work. But what matters
  254. 7:52is that it's ready to come out of its
  255. 7:53mold. And I know the results are going
  256. 7:55to be worth it.
  257. 7:56>> It's deformed.
  258. 7:57>> No. Happy birthday.
  259. 7:58>> Maybe I can just glue it back together.
  260. 8:00You can.
  261. 8:01>> This is my beautiful baby boy. He may
  262. 8:03not be perfect, but [music]
  263. 8:06also I made two of them.
  264. 8:09>> Now, I know these guys are going to get
  265. 8:10launched out of the catapult really
  266. 8:12[ __ ] fast, but I don't know how fast,
  267. 8:14like mathematically, but I think I know
  268. 8:17someone who does.
  269. 8:19>> Hey, what's up, man?
  270. 8:20>> How we doing?
  271. 8:21>> I got a catapult that I built, and I was
  272. 8:23hoping you could tell me how to
  273. 8:25calculate how strong it is.
  274. 8:26>> Uh, are we recording?
  275. 8:27>> Yeah. If this is a possum launcher, I'm
  276. 8:29out. Michael, I just want to say that
  277. 8:31out of the
  278. 8:32>> promise it's not a possum launcher.
  279. 8:33>> Despite his suspicion, Marcus still
  280. 8:35agreed to help me with the math, but it
  281. 8:37was not going well.
  282. 8:38>> So that's jewels. So that's work. So
  283. 8:40that's 1,800 jewels. You're left with a
  284. 8:42velocity.
  285. 8:43>> Dude, what's it difference between a
  286. 8:44jewel and a newton? Is it okay if it's
  287. 8:46negative?
  288. 8:47>> Um, nope. Definitely not okay if it's
  289. 8:49negative. And you said it's not possums,
  290. 8:51but we could say it's nothing
  291. 8:53biological.
  292. 8:54>> [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] How does he know? I
  293. 8:56have to distract him fast, [music] so I
  294. 8:58arm the catapult. Luckily, a band snaps
  295. 9:00and catches his attention, which allowed
  296. 9:02us to finish math time.
  297. 9:03>> I got 19.8.
  298. 9:05>> That feels right to me.
  299. 9:06>> I still am trying to get like an idea
  300. 9:08for what will that do to the dog.
  301. 9:15>> All these equations don't work if it's a
  302. 9:17dog. Oh, wait. You actually are
  303. 9:18launching it from in the ground.
  304. 9:20>> Yeah. I want to test your [ __ ]
  305. 9:21equation. Yeah, I want to test your
  306. 9:22equation.
  307. 9:32Is [clears throat] that the head?
  308. 9:33[laughter]
  309. 9:33>> Yeah, Mark, it is the head. And it
  310. 9:35definitely didn't go 19.8 m or like
  311. 9:38[music] 3 ft. So, I don't know. We just
  312. 9:40have to launch the dog for real. Let's
  313. 9:41get this catapult on the roof.
  314. 9:42>> What the [ __ ] is this
  315. 9:43>> catapult? You like it? Uh, we got to put
  316. 9:45it on the roof tonight.
  317. 9:47>> Up there?
  318. 9:47>> Yeah, we actually have to put it on the
  319. 9:49roof tonight.
  320. 9:50>> Really?
  321. 9:50>> Yeah. [laughter]
  322. 9:51>> Don't let it Don't let it hit the wall.
  323. 9:53We should keep these ropes, huh? [music]
  324. 9:55>> Yeah. So, when we hang ours open, this
  325. 9:56doesn't work.
  326. 9:57>> Cool. We got the catapult on the roof.
  327. 9:59Tomorrow, I'm going to grab Lily and
  328. 10:00Dinky and we're going to show him what
  329. 10:01happens when he barks.
  330. 10:02>> Is this related to the pawsome catapult?
  331. 10:05>> What? Catapulting a possum high into the
  332. 10:07air? Are you [ __ ] kidding me? This is
  333. 10:09disgusting. This is horrible. No, we're
  334. 10:11launching [music] dogs, not possums.
  335. 10:12This is No, that's too far.
  336. 10:16>> Hey, Lily, can I take you somewhere? I
  337. 10:18guess I'm going to show you.
  338. 10:19>> What is this?
  339. 10:19>> Bring the dogs.
  340. 10:20>> Bring the dogs?
  341. 10:21>> Yeah, bring the dogs. What do you mean
  342. 10:22bring the dog? Why would I bring the
  343. 10:24dog?
  344. 10:25>> Oh, a GoPro camera. Why the [ __ ] am I
  345. 10:28bringing them?
  346. 10:28>> Cuz they love it. What do you think the
  347. 10:29surprise is?
  348. 10:31>> A proposal. Ooh, it better be something
  349. 10:33better than a proposal then. You know
  350. 10:35what I mean?
  351. 10:35>> You know what? I think it is.
  352. 10:37>> We're here. Okay. What is that?
  353. 10:40>> This is what happens to dogs that bark
  354. 10:42at me.
  355. 10:44>> Michael, this is what happens to dogs
  356. 10:46that bark at me. Why should anyone have
  357. 10:47to suffer through the barking that Dinky
  358. 10:49does? through through the barking of any
  359. 10:51dog. Just [music] you wait until there's
  360. 10:52one of these dog truckers on every roof
  361. 10:55across the country in America.
  362. 10:56>> Michael, I'm okay. I
  363. 10:58>> of any dog.
  364. 10:58>> Come down. It's You don't think this is
  365. 11:00going a little too far? Like
  366. 11:02just a little bit. Dogs bark. You love
  367. 11:05the Vinky. [music]
  368. 11:06>> I I love him.
  369. 11:07>> Yeah. So, come down from there. Come
  370. 11:09down.
  371. 11:09>> I do love him.
  372. 11:11>> Yeah.
  373. 11:11>> That's why I'm going to show him what
  374. 11:12happens when he barks.
  375. 11:13>> Oh my [ __ ] dog.
  376. 11:14>> Finally, after months of planning, I'll
  377. 11:16[music] show all of you what happens to
  378. 11:18dogs that bark at me.
  379. 11:21Finally. Finally.
  380. 11:27[music]
  381. 11:34>> The blood splatter is too realistic.
  382. 11:36[laughter]
  383. 11:39DOGS BARK. THAT'S WHAT THEY DO. I MEAN,
  384. 11:42I saw it already.
  385. 11:42>> I want I want him to see. I want him to
  386. 11:44see. Oh no. This dog must have barked.
  387. 11:47Okay, that went perfect. I'm going to
  388. 11:48reload the catapult and then we can test
  389. 11:50it on Dinky.
  390. 11:54>> Where's she going?
  391. 12:01[music]
  392. 12:02>> Thanks for watching the video.
  393. 12:03Obviously, I don't hate this dog. We
  394. 12:05hang out and I feed him and we go on
  395. 12:06walks. I love this dog.
  396. 12:07>> He does [ __ ] bark at me, though.
  397. 12:09>> You may have also noticed the awesome
  398. 12:10copyrighted music throughout this video.
  399. 12:12I was able to do that with a technique
  400. 12:13called uh not making any money. I just
  401. 12:15wanted to use some [ __ ] awesome
  402. 12:17music. Okay. Is that stupid? Yes. Uh but
  403. 12:19yeah, the video is definitely getting
  404. 12:20copyright strike immediately. So, if you
  405. 12:22want to share it with your Discord group
  406. 12:23or extended arrange [music]
  407. 12:25family, then that's good. If you want to
  408. 12:27donate to the next dog launching
  409. 12:28project, I have a Patreon that I
  410. 12:30actually post some really good some like
  411. 12:32pretty good there's content on there.
  412. 12:34Now, also, there's a sponsor on this
  413. 12:35video. So, just click the link a bunch
  414. 12:37of times so that they think I'm sending
  415. 12:38them a bunch of customers so that they
  416. 12:40give me more money. Do you own a company
  417. 12:42but hate doing the clerical [ __ ] Me,
  418. 12:44too. Kind of. Lucky for us, there's
  419. 12:45today's sponsor, Odo. [ __ ] I'm so
  420. 12:47dizzy. Odo is the all-in-one solution
  421. 12:49for business. [music] They have apps for
  422. 12:51accounting, CRM, inventory, sales, etc.
  423. 12:54Say I have a business, and it's uh
  424. 12:55delivering dogs to your house, straight
  425. 12:57to your house, uh via catapult. They
  426. 12:59have an app to help me plan my products.
  427. 13:01Another app that manages inventory. Just
  428. 13:02imagine how much inventory my company
  429. 13:04has. And this one's cool. You can use a
  430. 13:05barcode scanner to keep track of
  431. 13:07products even easier. And then an app to
  432. 13:08manage and track sales so that my
  433. 13:10company can function as efficiently
  434. 13:12[music] as humanly possible. At the end
  435. 13:14of the day, if you have a business, they
  436. 13:15probably have something that can
  437. 13:16streamline it even more. And the great
  438. 13:17part is you can select only the apps
  439. 13:19that you need. ODU is super easy [music]
  440. 13:20to use. So, click the link in the
  441. 13:21description to get 14 days free. No
  442. 13:23credit card required. And uh [ __ ] what
  443. 13:25else? One app free for life. I like ODU
  444. 13:27because uh they let me put the ad at the
  445. 13:30end of the video and a suite of software
  446. 13:32and applications. Oh my god, they let me
  447. 13:34put the ad at the end of the video.
  448. 13:35Dude, no one [ __ ] lets you put the ad
  449. 13:36at the end of the video. So, thanks
  450. 13:37again Odo for supporting the channel.
  451. 13:40Goodbye.
  452. 13:41I, Mark Rober, do not endorse this. I
  453. 13:45think this is pretty cool.
  454. 13:48>> She's getting suspicious. She walked in
  455. 13:50to tell me she's going to sleep. I said,
  456. 13:51"Good night." And I started like closing
  457. 13:52my tabs. [ __ ]
  458. 13:55>> She said, "What's that?" She said, "Why
  459. 13:57is there a dog on? Why are you 3D
  460. 13:58modeling a dog?
  461. 14:00>> This is a ballistics gel dog.
  462. 14:02>> That's [ __ ] crazy. This is
  463. 14:04disgusting.
  464. 14:07[singing]
  465. 14:10Why did you do that?
