*HUGE HOLE* in YOUNG BULL's HOOF — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00This extremely hyped up little bull has
- 0:02got an incredibly sore fun right foot.
- 0:04So sore that he doesn't want to put it
- 0:06on the ground. And we're hoping there's
- 0:08something we can do about it. This is
- 0:11the hoof GPU.
- 0:14[singing and music]
- 0:16When I see you dance and the moments
- 0:19[singing]
- 0:19when I fall and go slow,
- 0:24I fall into you.
- 0:33This we guy is absolutely mental, aren't
- 0:37you, pal? But he does not want to touch
- 0:40the floor with his front foot. Do you?
- 0:43He is scared wetless. And I'd love you
- 0:46to be able to see that he can't touch
- 0:47the ground with that front right foot.
- 0:50Well, there's no way I'm letting him
- 0:51back out of that race now that he's in
- 0:52there. By the way, if you're watching
- 0:54this video and you're not subscribed, we
- 0:56would love you to join this community,
- 0:58which we very proudly call the herd. So,
- 1:01if you haven't subscribed to the
- 1:02channel, please just consider it. It's
- 1:04obviously completely free and it means
- 1:06you'll get notifications
- 1:09and it means you'll get notifications of
- 1:10new videos. I don't often ask people to
- 1:13subscribe, but I really would love you
- 1:15to join this community. Right, we've got
- 1:18one car in the truck right now that
- 1:20Craig's just trimming away just now with
- 1:21a very small problem and then we're
- 1:23going to get him in. Whenever you're
- 1:25dealing with any lively animal, you're
- 1:27always slightly apprehensive about how
- 1:30his journey into the crush might go.
- 1:36It's important to remember that Castle
- 1:38who act in a wild way are just
- 1:40absolutely petrified of us.
- 1:42>> So, he is only really sore on one of his
- 1:44feet and he's really young as well. So,
- 1:46he probably doesn't need the rest of his
- 1:48feet trimmed. We'll check the rest of
- 1:50his feet, but probably won't trim them.
- 1:52Yeah, his back feet are absolutely
- 1:53perfect. So, there's no point whatsoever
- 1:55doing that. Something's clearly gone
- 1:56wrong with this front foot, and it is
- 1:58pretty obvious. He's got a hole right up
- 2:01into his foot. That is not good. Right,
- 2:04this foot actually isn't a bad size at
- 2:07all. We can get it ready for a block,
- 2:09though, because clearly he's going to
- 2:11need it. I'm not using the grinder
- 2:13because my hand could not take it right
- 2:17now.
- 2:23And you can do everything that we do
- 2:26with a grinder. You can achieve with a
- 2:28knife. It just takes a little bit
- 2:29longer. That is all.
- 2:35And just model it out. Right. We'll get
- 2:38rid of that bit of pith as well and that
- 2:40bit of duct. And that is nothing. This
- 2:43little scratch, I don't want to take it
- 2:44any thinner than it already is. And this
- 2:46little tiny bit isn't really a crack.
- 2:48It's just a slight indentation. Path is
- 2:50basically just when the hooforn is
- 2:52naturally shedding away, it turns into
- 2:53this sort of powdery stuff. I'm assuming
- 2:56they call it pith because it looks like
- 2:58the pith of an orange, a kind of powdery
- 3:00white [music] substance you get
- 3:01underneath the edge of skin, right?
- 3:11Now I think it's pretty plain for us all
- 3:13to see why he is walking or rather not
- 3:18walking on this foot.
- 3:23[music] I'm just going to work our way
- 3:24backwards
- 3:26reducing the entire size of the whole
- 3:28foot.
- 3:31And the idea is we'll work from the
- 3:33edges in and that way all we take away
- 3:36is [music] the hoof horn. That is no
- 3:38use. His foot actually sort of curves in
- 3:40the way as well.
- 3:44[music]
- 3:47Going to reduce the heel as well because
- 3:48he's not going to need it anyway cuz
- 3:50like I said, we definitely are going
- 3:53[music] to put a block on here. Well,
- 3:55not on here, but on here.
- 3:59I asked the [music] farmer off camera
- 4:01the history of this little guy, and it
- 4:04turns out that he probably had an
- 4:06accident when he was a young [music]
- 4:07calf last year. His foot was never quite
- 4:10the right shape.
- 4:12>> Wow, look at that. [music]
- 4:13>> And as he's gotten older and heavier,
- 4:15it's become a real issue for him.
- 4:17[music] As we saw when we first lifted
- 4:19it, it wasn't particularly overgrown,
- 4:21but [music] as I told you, it was
- 4:23incredibly sore.
- 4:30We are [music] obviously going to attach
- 4:32a block to his good claw to raise the
- 4:34sore one up off the ground, [music]
- 4:36thereby allowing it to heal and giving
- 4:39him some very much needed pain relief.
- 4:42So, [music] we've prepared that outer
- 4:43claw with the grinder just to speed the
- 4:45process up a little bit. Right [music]
- 4:48now, the finer details. This is where
- 4:51the trim can completely fall to pieces.
- 4:53[music]
- 4:54It's where we make our money and it's
- 4:56where we make the difference.
- 5:01[music]
- 5:08[music]
- 5:14His food is clearly a mess, [music] but
- 5:17strangely enough, I'm fairly happy with
- 5:20how it's turned out. I'm happy that
- 5:22we've removed [music] everything that we
- 5:23can from the front of his foot. And I'm
- 5:25happy that this clot will be up off the
- 5:27ground, not causing him the pain that it
- 5:30was 10 minutes [music] ago.
- 5:34All that remains to be seen now is how
- 5:36he leaves the crush and how he walks on
- 5:39that block.
- 5:41[music]
- 5:50He was maybe scared earlier on, but now
- 5:52[music] I'm the apprehensive one and I'm
- 5:54not going to give him any more
- 5:55opportunities. He already has. [music]
- 5:58I'm glad to say though, he seems to be
- 6:00walking pretty well.
- 6:04>> He was thinking about that for a minute
- 6:06there,
- 6:08>> my chest,
- 6:11everything.
- 6:13I don't know if he liked you.
- 6:15>> Lovely. All right. Cheers, James.
- 6:20>> He is [music] definitely walking better,
- 6:21but he's got his back up. His blood's up
- 6:23because he's scared of us. It's hard to
- 6:25know how well he's going to walk and
- 6:26we're not there. All I do know is, and
- 6:29you didn't see this, he was touching the
- 6:31ground maybe every third step before we
- 6:33put that block on. And now he's touching
- 6:35it with every step. So, for me, that's a
- 6:37win. And I'm going to take it. Remember,
- 6:40[music] by the way, I did ask you to
- 6:42subscribe. So, if you haven't by now,
- 6:44you should think about your life
- 6:45choices. Catch you in the next one.
- 6:48Bye-bye.
