  3. 0:05interconnected your mind and your body
  4. 0:08function together as one unit so it's
  5. 0:10not just about your physical health it's
  6. 0:12also about your mental and emotional
  7. 0:14state and how that impacts the way that
  8. 0:16you
  9. 0:18feel it takes some balance figuring out
  10. 0:21what works for you and thinking of ways
  11. 0:24to make it fun so you'll want to keep
  12. 0:26doing
  13. 0:27it it's all about taking small steps
  14. 0:30towards your future
  15. 0:32success think of it like the roots of a
  16. 0:35tree taking care of your Wellness now
  17. 0:38will help to give you the tools that you
  18. 0:40need as you grow so that you're balanced
  19. 0:43and healthy and feeling ready to take on
  20. 0:45all the things that you want to do in
  21. 0:47your
  22. 0:49life let's start with the physical
  23. 0:51aspects healthy eating is super
  24. 0:54important to make sure that your body
  25. 0:55has the fuel that it needs so try to eat
  26. 0:58regularly that may mean that you have to
  27. 1:00schedule your meals maybe in between
  28. 1:02classes or making lunch or dinner dates
  29. 1:05with your friends you can keep it social
  30. 1:07have a good time if you're eating in the
  31. 1:09dining hall you should have plenty of
  32. 1:11options to help balance your meals and
  33. 1:13don't be afraid to change it up try a
  34. 1:15new food you might find something that
  35. 1:17you
  36. 1:18like you can also keep a refillable
  37. 1:20water model with you it's an easy way to
  38. 1:22make sure that you stay
  39. 1:25hydrated next is sleep making time for
  40. 1:28rest is one of the most most important
  41. 1:30aspects of your physical
  42. 1:32health again scheduling your sleep can
  43. 1:35make a big difference in the way that
  44. 1:37you feel and how much energy you have
  45. 1:41you can set an alarm or a reminder on
  46. 1:43your phone to tell you it's time to put
  47. 1:45the electronics away and get some shut
  48. 1:47ey your mind and your body will thank
  49. 1:52you being Physically Active is great for
  50. 1:55your body but also has some mental and
  51. 1:57emotional benefits as well spending time
  52. 2:00outside getting sun and fresh air can do
  53. 2:03wonders for your spirit you also want to
  54. 2:06check out the gym or Fitness Center on
  55. 2:08your campus besides the equipment that
  56. 2:11they have they sometimes offer exercise
  57. 2:14classes or trainings that could help you
  58. 2:17even if you don't think the gym is for
  59. 2:19you you pay for it in your tuition and
  60. 2:21fees so you might as well check it out
  61. 2:24it's a good place to hang out with
  62. 2:25friends or even make some new
  63. 2:28ones illness is something that we've all
  64. 2:30been more conscious of these days so as
  65. 2:33we know it's important to wash your
  66. 2:35hands stay home when you're sick and get
  67. 2:38checked out if you're really not feeling
  68. 2:39well the campus infirmary is a great
  69. 2:42resource where you can meet with medical
  70. 2:44professionals and get the medication
  71. 2:47that you might need to help you feel
  72. 2:50better your sexual health is just as
  73. 2:52important as any other aspect of your
  74. 2:54physical health so if you are sexually
  75. 2:57active make sure to get checked for
  76. 2:59sexual transmitted infections on a
  77. 3:01regular basis and know that you don't
  78. 3:04have to do anything that you're not
  79. 3:05comfortable with always remember your
  80. 3:08power and your
  81. 3:11worth the same goes for drugs and
  82. 3:13alcohol do not be afraid to remove
  83. 3:16yourself from a situation where you
  84. 3:17don't feel
  85. 3:20safe when it comes to personal
  86. 3:22relationships College presents a lot of
  87. 3:24opportunities to interact with people
  88. 3:26closely safety is very important
  89. 3:30be aware of your surroundings try to go
  90. 3:32out in groups and check in frequently
  91. 3:35with others around
  92. 3:36you consent and Trust are Central to all
  93. 3:40types of
  94. 3:41relationships respect others boundaries
  95. 3:44and hold tight to your own whether
  96. 3:46you're dealing with roommates new
  97. 3:48friends or intimate Partners good
  98. 3:50communication is crucial to the success
  99. 3:53of any
  100. 3:55relationship now let's talk about social
  101. 3:58and emotional health if you're going
  102. 4:00away to college feeling homesick is
  103. 4:03something that is experienced by lots of
  104. 4:05students in their first few months but
  105. 4:07even if you're not going way to school
  106. 4:10loneliness is something that can affect
  107. 4:11anyone at any time please know that you
  108. 4:15are not
  109. 4:17alone try to find ways to stay connected
  110. 4:20you can call text use social media
  111. 4:23connect on other apps it's truly never
  112. 4:26been easier to stay in touch with the
  113. 4:28people who care about you
  114. 4:32you should also try to find ways to get
  115. 4:33involved on campus it may be hard to put
  116. 4:36yourself out there but making those
  117. 4:38connections will really be worth it in
  118. 4:40the
  119. 4:41end and if you're exploring your sexual
  120. 4:44identity or gender identity there are
  121. 4:46likely some pretty great resources on
  122. 4:48your campus to help you find others who
  123. 4:50are in the same boat the rainbow Center
  124. 4:53at Yukon is an especially good one and
  125. 4:56remember it's okay not to have it all
  126. 4:58figured out
  127. 5:00know that you are perfect and worthy
  128. 5:02just as you
  129. 5:05are taking care of your mental health is
  130. 5:07a practice that will serve you well
  131. 5:09throughout your life College gets
  132. 5:12stressful at times don't be afraid to
  133. 5:14ask for help when you need it there are
  134. 5:17so many resources available to help you
  135. 5:19get through pretty much anything you're
  136. 5:21struggling with know your
  137. 5:24limits your family can be one of your
  138. 5:26greatest supports in college but try not
  139. 5:28to let those resp responsibilities get
  140. 5:30in the way of your academic progress and
  141. 5:32overall
  142. 5:34growth impostor syndrome is real we all
  143. 5:38feel like we don't belong sometimes but
  144. 5:40know that you deserve to be where you
  145. 5:42are just as much as the person sitting
  146. 5:45next to you in that classroom you earned
  147. 5:47that spot now claim
  148. 5:51it there may be times when life events
  149. 5:53impact your college Journey the death of
  150. 5:56a loved one natural disasters a global
  151. 5:59glal
  152. 6:00pandemic these and many other tragedies
  153. 6:03are very familiar to some
  154. 6:05students you do not have to deal with
  155. 6:07this all alone know that Harford promise
