- 0:00Hi, I'm Rashana Miller. And I'm Melanie
- 0:02Torres.
- 0:03>> And we're your Reaching Forward coaches.
- 0:05Congrats on being a Hartford Promise
- 0:07Scholar. Today, we want to welcome you
- 0:10into the fold and let you know how you
- 0:12can be a partnership with us.
- 0:14>> But before we get into that, we want to
- 0:16introduce you to our incredible
- 0:18leadership team. So, starting off with
- 0:20the president of Hartford Promise, so
- 0:21Dr. Siobhan Hines, who's the heart of
- 0:24the organization. Then, someone you may
- 0:26know, Jordan Green, who's the director
- 0:28of Reaching Back. And someone you want
- 0:30to remember, Sam Levine, who's the
- 0:32director of scholarships, who's in
- 0:34charge of all of the money. So, make
- 0:36sure you don't forget that name.
- 0:38>> And two women you'll really get to know,
- 0:40Melissa Paul, director of Reaching
- 0:42Forward and college partnerships, and
- 0:45Rachel Teller, director of Reaching
- 0:48Beyond. Everyone here is so ready and so
- 0:51excited to help you on your journey.
- 0:53>> Now, let's talk about you. So, as your
- 0:55Reaching Forward coaches, we're here to
- 0:57help you along the way. This road can
- 0:58get a little bumpy, but we're here to
- 1:01support you on your journey.
- 1:02>> So, what does that support look like?
- 1:04So, it could be anything from class
- 1:06selection to resume building and
- 1:09internship opportunities.
- 1:11It could also be laptop issues or maybe
- 1:14you having trouble with a roommate.
- 1:17>> We also want to connect you to resources
- 1:19that you have on campus. So, academic
- 1:22and advising support, tutoring and
- 1:24writing centers, pretty much anything
- 1:26that you can think of. Essentially, we
- 1:28have your back.
- 1:29>> You're so fortunate and deserving of
- 1:31this Hartford Promise scholarship. But
- 1:34with a great opportunity comes great
- 1:36responsibility. So, here are six things
- 1:38you need to do to maintain your
- 1:40scholarship.
- 1:42Number one,
- 1:43make sure you fill out your FAFSA every
- 1:46academic year.
- 1:48Number two,
- 1:50enroll full-time in school
- 1:52and maintain good academic standing.
- 1:56Number three,
- 1:58fill out your Hartford Promise survey
- 2:00every academic year.
- 2:02We're going to email you, so make sure
- 2:04you check those emails.
- 2:06>> Number four. Make sure you send your fee
- 2:08bill and your transcript to the
- 2:10appropriate person when requested.
- 2:13Number five. Meet with your Reaching
- 2:15Forward coach at least once each
- 2:17semester, and make sure you look at your
- 2:19emails cuz we're going to be reaching
- 2:21out to you, and please stay connected.
- 2:23And then number six. Make sure you
- 2:25attend a Hartford Promise event.
- 2:27>> These things help you stay on track and
- 2:29invested. We want you to get the most
- 2:31out of your college experience. We're
- 2:33just a phone call and email away, so
- 2:35stay connected to us.
