  1. 0:00I'm a 17 year old professional YouTuber
  2. 0:02and freelance scriptwriter with years of
  3. 0:04experience writing viral video scripts
  4. 0:06for myself and other YouTubers here are
  5. 0:08my secrets to writing high quality
  6. 0:10retention boosting video scripts as fast
  7. 0:12as possible without spending any money
  8. 0:14first you'll need to figure out where
  9. 0:15you're actually going to write your
  10. 0:16script I personally use Google Docs
  11. 0:18because it's free and allows multiple
  12. 0:20people to collaborate on a script at the
  13. 0:22same time but do whatever you want I
  14. 0:23guess then when you're ready to start
  15. 0:25create a new document and start writing
  16. 0:27your intro the intro is by far the most
  17. 0:29important part of your script because
  18. 0:31for YouTube to count somebody watching
  19. 0:33your video as a view they must watch at
  20. 0:35least the first 30 seconds of the video
  21. 0:36this means that it's essential to cut
  22. 0:38out all of the fluff in your intros and
  23. 0:40just get straight to the point so that
  24. 0:42your viewers don't get bored and click
  25. 0:43off this is especially important if your
  26. 0:46video is tailored to a younger audience
  27. 0:47because they tend to have lower
  28. 0:48attention spans than older people many
  29. 0:50videos especially educational videos
  30. 0:52like I make start off with something
  31. 0:54like hey guys welcome back to killer
  32. 0:56videos where we teach you about making
  33. 0:59money on YouTube tube the killer way in
  34. 1:02this video we're going to show you how
  35. 1:04to make killer editing and guess what
  36. 1:06nobody cares my intros are usually about
  37. 1:09one to two sentences long simple and
  38. 1:11straight to the point and as a result
  39. 1:13the retention in my intros is really
  40. 1:15good literally just take a quick second
  41. 1:17to say what the video is about and then
  42. 1:18include something to hook the viewer and
  43. 1:20or give you credibility then just get
  44. 1:22straight into the video and please
  45. 1:24please please don't tell people to like
  46. 1:26And subscribe or go buy your course save
  47. 1:28that for the end because if a viewer's
  48. 1:29never seen your content before then they
  49. 1:31have no reason to trust that you're
  50. 1:32credible or actually know what you're
  51. 1:34talking about so why would they
  52. 1:35subscribe or buy your course or whatever
  53. 1:37you're asking them however if you've
  54. 1:39gotten your viewer to watch most or all
  55. 1:41of the video then they've likely learned
  56. 1:43something and as a result trust you and
  57. 1:45then will subscribe or like your video
  58. 1:46or buy your course or whatever the type
  59. 1:49of content that I make credibility is
  60. 1:51another huge contributor to having a
  61. 1:53good intro for example if the title of
  62. 1:54my video is called how to edit viral
  63. 1:56videos I need some credibility to
  64. 1:58convince the viewer that I actually know
  65. 2:00I'm talking about and can teach them how
  66. 2:02to edit viral video so for example in
  67. 2:04this intro I'm a 17 year old YouTuber
  68. 2:06and professional video editor with
  69. 2:08millions of views and years of
  70. 2:10experience to my name I said first off
  71. 2:12that I was a 17 year old professional
  72. 2:13video editor that knows how to make
  73. 2:15viral videos based on The View counts of
  74. 2:17my previous videos this gave me
  75. 2:18credibility because it shows my viewers
  76. 2:20that I'm for one a professional and two
  77. 2:22know what I'm doing and have the results
  78. 2:24to back up what I'm saying this also
  79. 2:26provides the video with a bit of a hook
  80. 2:27if viewers are impressed that I'm so
  81. 2:29young and want to figure out how I've
  82. 2:31gotten to this point also in general
  83. 2:32just make sure you keep swear words out
  84. 2:34of the first 30 seconds of your video to
  85. 2:36avoid possible demonetization you really
  86. 2:38need them there just censor them in the
  87. 2:39edit but honestly just try not to
  88. 2:41include them if possible next once
  89. 2:43you're done with your intro you're gonna
  90. 2:44outline the rest of your video I find
  91. 2:46this way easier and less overwhelming
  92. 2:48than just writing everything
  93. 2:49sequentially because it allows me to
  94. 2:51break up my work and see how much stuff
  95. 2:53I have left to write at any given moment
  96. 2:55which is a great strategy honestly for
  97. 2:57just anything that's as boring as
  98. 2:58writing video scripts for educational
  99. 3:00content literally just split up your
  100. 3:01video into headers like you would in for
  101. 3:03example an article or an essay and just
  102. 3:05go from there here's an example from my
  103. 3:07last video about recording high quality
  104. 3:09voiceovers for YouTube for other types
  105. 3:11of content like entertainment videos
  106. 3:13based on a story think of a simple story
  107. 3:15arc with an exposition rising action
  108. 3:17Climax and resolution and just outline
  109. 3:19your video from that that all sounded
  110. 3:21like nonsense to you and you're not
  111. 3:22familiar with basic story structure
  112. 3:23literally just Google what is the story
  113. 3:25arc and you'll be in light it's a really
  114. 3:27useful thing to know if you get stuck
  115. 3:29it's also really easy just to ask chat
  116. 3:31GPT what should I talk about in a video
  117. 3:33about whatever if you're making an
  118. 3:34educational video I do this all the time
  119. 3:36when I need more content or just don't
  120. 3:37know how to split up my script and it
  121. 3:39works pretty well however on the topic
  122. 3:41of chat GPT I would not recommend using
  123. 3:43it to write your script from scratch
  124. 3:44even if you change a lot of it after the
  125. 3:46fact but more on that later then once
  126. 3:48your outline's finished you'll be ready
  127. 3:49to add content to your script there's
  128. 3:51unfortunately no set formula to running
  129. 3:53the actual content of your script you
  130. 3:55sort of just have to you know write
  131. 3:57really try not to overthink this because
  132. 3:59having like anything on the paper is so
  133. 4:01much better than having nothing so just
  134. 4:03get to writing and remember that you can
  135. 4:04always revise and edit later if you need
  136. 4:06to so you don't really have an excuse
  137. 4:08not to start right now like I said
  138. 4:10before chat GPT is a really useful tool
  139. 4:12for writing scripts but through my
  140. 4:14experience creating a ton of viral
  141. 4:15videos across a few different channels
  142. 4:17it's really not that great at
  143. 4:18scriptwriting I had chat GPT generate a
  144. 4:20script for my video about affiliate
  145. 4:22market and even after changing a
  146. 4:24considerable amount of it later it has
  147. 4:26by far the worst retention of any video
  148. 4:28on my channel and the editing is is good
  149. 4:30it's also my worst performing video by
  150. 4:32far although part of this is the fact
  151. 4:34that the topic probably just isn't as
  152. 4:36appealing to my audience but in general
  153. 4:38through my experience I found that just
  154. 4:40the script was not that good and I was
  155. 4:42way better off just creating it myself
  156. 4:43however this doesn't mean that I don't
  157. 4:45use AI to help me write out the content
  158. 4:47of my scripts vid IQ a company I'm now
  159. 4:50partnering with long term has just come
  160. 4:51out with this super cool AI tailor to
  161. 4:53your channel trained on a bunch of
  162. 4:55YouTube data with the help of gpt4
  163. 4:57making it so much more advanced and
  164. 4:59useful than chat GPT for Content
  165. 5:01creation I personally use the AI for all
  166. 5:03sorts of things but in this case it's
  167. 5:05really useful if I want for example help
  168. 5:07writing part of an intro just another
  169. 5:09part of the video or literally anything
  170. 5:10related to my scripts to be honest in
  171. 5:12fact I wrote the intro for this video
  172. 5:14with vid iq's Ai and it's so good the
  173. 5:16best part is it's only a dollar to sign
  174. 5:18up for their boost plan that includes
  175. 5:19the AI with my link in the description
  176. 5:21I've used vid IQ every single day since
  177. 5:23I started this Channel and that was even
  178. 5:25before I partnered with regardless of if
  179. 5:27you're writing a script with AI or just
  180. 5:29by yourself there are a few things
  181. 5:30you'll want to keep in mind actually
  182. 5:32scratch that there are a few things that
  183. 5:34you can't ignore throughout this whole
  184. 5:35process this is where I can't really
  185. 5:36help you and you have to know your
  186. 5:38target audience better than I do and
  187. 5:39contrast if your videos are like mine
  188. 5:41and meant to appeal to a younger adult
  189. 5:43demographic then you'll want to keep it
  190. 5:45pretty informal and conversational and
  191. 5:47should use relatively simple vocabulary
  192. 5:49General I tend to think a conversational
  193. 5:50tone is best for most types of content
  194. 5:53as small human errors in your speech and
  195. 5:55grammar creates a level of personability
  196. 5:57and authenticity with your audience
  197. 5:59another thing to consider is the
  198. 6:00transition language that you use
  199. 6:02throughout your writing you'll have to
  200. 6:03utilize transition language between your
  201. 6:04outlines headers to script flowing
  202. 6:06smoothly or it's just not going to sound
  203. 6:08natural length is another important
  204. 6:10contributor to a good video script that
  205. 6:12you really can't take this is because
  206. 6:13YouTube allows creators to place
  207. 6:15mid-roll ads on videos longer than 8
  208. 6:17minutes which has a significant impact
  209. 6:19on increasing your RPM which is the
  210. 6:20amount of money that you earn per
  211. 6:22thousand views on your videos with a 12
  212. 6:24point font and double spacing one page
  213. 6:26of a script usually ends up to last
  214. 6:28about one minute in the voiceover if you
  215. 6:30give or take a little bit once you've
  216. 6:31written out your entire script you may
  217. 6:32notice that it's not long enough which
  218. 6:34obviously means that you'll have to add
  219. 6:35more to it however this doesn't mean you
  220. 6:37should pull the goofy kids do in
  221. 6:39school and they have to hit a word limit
  222. 6:40I'm talking about that what's up YouTube
  223. 6:42today we'll be reviewing the brand new
  224. 6:45iPhone 16 and I really really really
  225. 6:47really really really really really
  226. 6:48really really really really really
  227. 6:49really really really really like this
  228. 6:52iPhone instead of just adding more words
  229. 6:54to your script add more value instead if
  230. 6:56it's educational content simply teach
  231. 6:58the viewer more things than you would in
  232. 7:00a shorter any video with telling them
  233. 7:01some like common mistakes or things that
  234. 7:03they shouldn't possibilities are endless
  235. 7:05and really up to your creation after
  236. 7:07you're finished with the main body of
  237. 7:08your script it's time to script your
  238. 7:10outro thanks guys for tuning in to this
  239. 7:12killer video in the next killer video I
  240. 7:16might continue working on this killer
  241. 7:18project but if I don't keep working on
  242. 7:21this killer project then next week there
  243. 7:25might not be a killer video but I might
  244. 7:29actually publish a killer video because
  245. 7:31I'm going on vacation which leads to a
  246. 7:34retention graph that dips off a lot at
  247. 7:36the end which in turn is harmful to your
  248. 7:38videos keep your outro one to two
  249. 7:40seconds long or just don't include one
  250. 7:42at all so the very end of your video is
  251. 7:44the time where you should make a call to
  252. 7:46action for example asking your viewers
  253. 7:48to subscribe personally though I like to
  254. 7:50take a different approach instead of
  255. 7:51asking my viewers to like And subscribe
  256. 7:53I'll say something like congratulations
  257. 7:55on finishing your first video script now
  258. 7:57all you need is a high quality voiceover
  259. 7:59to go along with and if you're
  260. 8:00interested in learning how to do that
  261. 8:02from a professional YouTuber and voice
  262. 8:03over artist then click this video see
  263. 8:06what I did there that's actually also
  264. 8:07the outro of this video
