  1. 0:00ladies and gentlemen have you ever
  2. 0:01wondered why some videos go viral on
  3. 0:03YouTube and get millions of views whilst
  4. 0:05others struggle to get a single click
  5. 0:07well the answer isn't Luck instead top
  6. 0:09creators know how to write killer
  7. 0:11scripts that keep viewers watching whole
  8. 0:13way through boosting their attention
  9. 0:15which makes their videos go viral so in
  10. 0:17this video I'm going to reveal how to
  11. 0:18write better scripts than 99% of
  12. 0:20YouTubers using my five-step formula and
  13. 0:22this formula can easily be copied onto
  14. 0:24your videos to increase your watch time
  15. 0:25drive your engagement and ultimately
  16. 0:27blow up your channel so what I'm going
  17. 0:29to do is walk you through all five steps
  18. 0:30and then at the end I'll show you how
  19. 0:32you can download the script template for
  20. 0:33free but first let me give you an
  21. 0:35example so you know that this script
  22. 0:37writing system actually works so my
  23. 0:38other YouTube Channel's got over 1
  24. 0:39million subscribers and my videos
  25. 0:41regularly get hundreds of thousands if
  26. 0:43not millions of views and that's because
  27. 0:45I use this viral script writing system
  28. 0:47but before I used it my channel looked
  29. 0:48like this so after 3 years of posting
  30. 0:51nearly 100 videos I was only getting a
  31. 0:53few thousand views a day which wasn't
  32. 0:55great for the number of videos that I
  33. 0:56posted but this video here was the first
  34. 0:59time I applied the formula that I'm
  35. 1:00about to teach you and my channel just
  36. 1:02blew up I managed to get hundreds of
  37. 1:04thousands of views tens of thousands of
  38. 1:06subscribers I had my first 1,000 day
  39. 1:08which was crazy and then since then I've
  40. 1:10kept using this formula and my videos
  41. 1:12now regularly get hundreds of thousands
  42. 1:14if not millions of views you know I mean
  43. 1:16here's one that I made a couple of
  44. 1:17months ago and it's already got half a
  45. 1:18million views using this exact formula
  46. 1:21but the point is this copy and paste
  47. 1:22script writing formula Works obviously
  48. 1:24it's not a guarantee that your video is
  49. 1:25going to go viral but it will put it in
  50. 1:27the best possible position to do so so
  51. 1:29let's break it Step One is the thumbnail
  52. 1:31alignment rule so this is the most
  53. 1:32overlooked part of script writing and
  54. 1:34it's something that 99% of new YouTubers
  55. 1:36don't do because you could have the
  56. 1:37funniest most perfect most incredible
  57. 1:39YouTube script in the world that you
  58. 1:40know was written by Mr BEAST's team or
  59. 1:42something like that but if the content
  60. 1:44of that script doesn't clearly align
  61. 1:46with your title and thumbnail then
  62. 1:48people are just going to start watching
  63. 1:49your video and then click off and this
  64. 1:51is because the title and thumbnail set
  65. 1:53the expectations for your video and the
  66. 1:56purpose of your script in the first 5
  67. 1:57seconds is to make sure that those EXT
  68. 1:59expectations set by your title and
  69. 2:01thumbnail are met and if you don't meet
  70. 2:03these expectations then people just
  71. 2:05click off your video and the video gets
  72. 2:07basically no views and recently Mr Beast
  73. 2:09confirmed this your title and thumbnail
  74. 2:11set expectations and at the very
  75. 2:13beginning of the video to minimize drop
  76. 2:15off you want to assure them that those
  77. 2:17expectations are being met but you can't
  78. 2:19meet the expectations of your title and
  79. 2:21thumbnail when writing a script if you
  80. 2:23don't have a title and thumbnail in the
  81. 2:25first place therefore step one to making
  82. 2:27an amazing YouTube script is slightly
  83. 2:29counter Inu
  84. 2:30but it's to make your title and
  85. 2:31thumbnail first before you start writing
  86. 2:34the script as your title and thumbnail
  87. 2:36are going to inform what the script says
  88. 2:38later on then once you've got a title
  89. 2:40and thumbnail that's when you ask
  90. 2:41yourself these two questions firstly
  91. 2:43what expectations is my title and
  92. 2:45thumbnail creating and secondly what
  93. 2:48reason to watch this video did I just
  94. 2:50give and like really think to yourself
  95. 2:52like what do people want to know or see
  96. 2:53when they click on this title and
  97. 2:55thumbnail for example let's use this TNT
  98. 2:57here which is called eight simple
  99. 2:58editing techniques and Concepts to make
  100. 3:00better videos and the thumbnail looks
  101. 3:02like this so I a little think about this
  102. 3:04example and the main questions that I
  103. 3:06got were what are the techniques and
  104. 3:08Concepts to make better videos what is
  105. 3:10it that I'm not doing will it work on my
  106. 3:13channel and what is the proof that this
  107. 3:15works and is it really simple then what
  108. 3:17I want you to do is take the three most
  109. 3:19important questions that you've
  110. 3:20generated and these are the questions
  111. 3:22that are going to inform our scripts
  112. 3:24later on now we'll come back to these
  113. 3:25questions later on when we actually
  114. 3:26start writing the scripts but once
  115. 3:28you're 90% confident you've got a great
  116. 3:30title and thumbnail that generates at
  117. 3:32least three interesting questions you're
  118. 3:33ready to move on to the most crucial
  119. 3:35part of your script which is the hook so
  120. 3:37the hook is basically what you say at
  121. 3:39the start of your video and it's
  122. 3:40basically just like the opening sentence
  123. 3:42and the start of your video is the area
  124. 3:43which sees the biggest drop off in
  125. 3:45retention but if you can have an amazing
  126. 3:47hook that increases retention at the
  127. 3:48beginning you will by default improve
  128. 3:50the retention of the entire video and
  129. 3:52top creators use one of three hooks at
  130. 3:55the start of their script number one is
  131. 3:57a question hook this is where you pose a
  132. 3:59question that the the viewer just wants
  133. 4:00to know the answer to for example it
  134. 4:02could be have you ever wondered how
  135. 4:03geckos walk on walls and ceilings or for
  136. 4:06the video we just looked at it could be
  137. 4:07something like is your video editing
  138. 4:09really as effective as it could be just
  139. 4:11make it relatable to your title and
  140. 4:12thumbnail and super interesting number
  141. 4:14two is the context hook and this is
  142. 4:16where you just drop the viewer into your
  143. 4:18video where the stakes are at their
  144. 4:19highest which creates tension and here's
  145. 4:21a great example of this feel that we're
  146. 4:23getting close to something this is me
  147. 4:26hunting for anacondas at night with a
  148. 4:28remote tribe in a country that know one
  149. 4:29heard of oh another one
  150. 4:32oh so at the start of that clip we're
  151. 4:34dropped into a very tense moment where
  152. 4:36Drew is walking through the Amazon at
  153. 4:37night someone Falls over you can't see
  154. 4:39anything and you just want to know what
  155. 4:41happens next and number three is the
  156. 4:43statement hook this is just a statement
  157. 4:45that's going to shock or surprise your
  158. 4:46viewers as soon as they click on the
  159. 4:48video so find a big and maybe
  160. 4:49controversial claim that you can
  161. 4:51obviously back up and then just say it
  162. 4:53at the start of your video for example
  163. 4:54here's a fitness YouTuber called coach
  164. 4:56Greg and he starts off this video with a
  165. 4:58very bold claim women on average put
  166. 5:00less effort in sports powerlifting
  167. 5:03weightlifting basketball every sport you
  168. 5:05name it men on average try harder than
  169. 5:07girls obviously this statement shocks
  170. 5:09the audience but then he goes on to
  171. 5:11discuss the claim talk about both sides
  172. 5:12of the argument but the point is you as
  173. 5:14the viewer are hooked so take a look at
  174. 5:16your video and think which hook applies
  175. 5:18best to the video that you're creating
  176. 5:20then have that as your opening sentence
  177. 5:21on your script so after you've got your
  178. 5:23hook planned out you're then ready to
  179. 5:24move on to step three which is the rest
  180. 5:26of your intro and this is where it gets
  181. 5:28interesting you there are two things
  182. 5:30that your script needs to do here
  183. 5:31firstly it needs to give context to your
  184. 5:32video and then secondly it needs to
  185. 5:34exceed the expectations set by your
  186. 5:36title and thumbnail so let's firstly
  187. 5:37start on context if people don't have
  188. 5:39context your video they don't actually
  189. 5:41know what it's about and then they just
  190. 5:42click off which contributes to that
  191. 5:44massive drop in retention at the
  192. 5:46beginning but if you can provide context
  193. 5:48in the correct way we can boost our
  194. 5:50attention in the first 15 seconds which
  195. 5:52by default boosts their attention of the
  196. 5:54entire video and you provide context
  197. 5:56using the three points preview technique
  198. 5:58so go back back to the three questions
  199. 6:00from your title and thumbnail that we
  200. 6:01talked about in step one and just
  201. 6:03address those questions in a couple of
  202. 6:05sentences and this provides context to
  203. 6:07the video so they know what to expect
  204. 6:08from it but also re hooks the viewer
  205. 6:11because you're saying that you're going
  206. 6:12to answer the questions that they just
  207. 6:13want to know the answers to so if you go
  208. 6:15back to our earli example the main three
  209. 6:16questions we had were what are the
  210. 6:18techniques and Concepts used to make
  211. 6:20better videos what is it that I'm not
  212. 6:21doing and will it work on my channel so
  213. 6:24we just address these questions at the
  214. 6:25start of the video meaning that our
  215. 6:27script would look like this we begin
  216. 6:29over with the hook so is your video
  217. 6:31editing really as effective as it could
  218. 6:33be and then we just add context from the
  219. 6:35three questions that we generated
  220. 6:37earlier so it sound like well in this
  221. 6:39video I'm going to reveal eight simple
  222. 6:41techniques and Concepts that any
  223. 6:42YouTuber can do to easily transform
  224. 6:44their videos 99% of editors don't use
  225. 6:47these simple hacks so in this video I'll
  226. 6:49walk you through them but first let me
  227. 6:51give you some examples of YouTubers
  228. 6:52blowing up their channels using these
  229. 6:54techniques all right let's just pause
  230. 6:56for a second and really think about this
  231. 6:57from the audience's perspective just to
  232. 6:59understand why this is such an effective
  233. 7:01script writing technique because they've
  234. 7:03clicked on your video expecting to know
  235. 7:05more about these three questions because
  236. 7:07that's what they thought about from the
  237. 7:08title and thumbnail now at the very
  238. 7:09start of the video not only do you hook
  239. 7:11them in with one of the three hooks that
  240. 7:13we talked about you also say that you're
  241. 7:15going to answer the questions that they
  242. 7:16really want to know the answer to
  243. 7:18meaning the chance of them actually
  244. 7:19clicking Off Your Video way smaller so
  245. 7:21to recap a good YouTube script will hook
  246. 7:23in the viewers and then provide context
  247. 7:26but we don't want a good YouTube script
  248. 7:28we want to kill a you script that is
  249. 7:30better than 99% of other YouTubers and
  250. 7:33killer scripts do just one more thing
  251. 7:35they overd deliver on the viewers
  252. 7:37expectations I'll let Mr Beast explain
  253. 7:39this VI so at the very beginning match
  254. 7:41the expectations and then you want to
  255. 7:43exceed them so you want to assure people
  256. 7:45that what they clicked on it's what
  257. 7:46they're getting and then blow their mind
  258. 7:48and be like but you're also getting even
  259. 7:49more because what do you think happens
  260. 7:51when you exceed the expectations set in
  261. 7:53your introduction you just give viewers
  262. 7:55even more of a reason to stick around
  263. 7:57which overall increases your attention
  264. 7:59and actually overd delivering on
  265. 8:00expectations is really easy you just
  266. 8:02need to make sure that your script
  267. 8:04showcases how much effort you've put
  268. 8:05into your video so you could do this by
  269. 8:07saying how many hours you spend editing
  270. 8:09the video or researching it or you could
  271. 8:11do something like create a free download
  272. 8:12so your viewer just gets Extra Value
  273. 8:14from the video or you can just add in
  274. 8:16your own credibility so if we go back to
  275. 8:18our video editing example I could say
  276. 8:20something like and by the way my name is
  277. 8:21Oscar Owen and I'm professional video
  278. 8:23editor and these are some of the best
  279. 8:25editing techniques that I've learned
  280. 8:27over the past 10 years using Premier Pro
  281. 8:29what ever it is just make sure you get
  282. 8:30it across to the viewer early on in your
  283. 8:32script right after you've provided the
  284. 8:33context because getting across early
  285. 8:35means the viewers are just going to be
  286. 8:36blown away and are more likely to stick
  287. 8:38around to the end of the video so we're
  288. 8:39off to a great start currently our
  289. 8:40script has a hook provides context to
  290. 8:42the video and then exceeds the viewers
  291. 8:45expectations now we're going to move on
  292. 8:46to step four which is scripting out the
  293. 8:48actual content of your video and if you
  294. 8:51get this wrong then everything else I've
  295. 8:52just told you goes to waste so let's
  296. 8:54break it down so the content of your
  297. 8:56video is where you deliver on what you
  298. 8:58promised in your hook an introduction
  299. 8:59now of course every video is different
  300. 9:01but generally if you package your
  301. 9:02information into a list format like top
  302. 9:0510 or five easy ways to do X then this
  303. 9:08just boosts viewer engagement as people
  304. 9:10just want to stare around to listen to
  305. 9:11all the steps so even if they already
  306. 9:13know steps 1 2 3 and four number five
  307. 9:15could be the game changer for them so
  308. 9:17they'll stick around to listen to number
  309. 9:18five so on your script after your hook
  310. 9:20and introduction add all the points that
  311. 9:22you're going to make in numbered
  312. 9:23headings and this is just going to form
  313. 9:24the backbone of your script and again at
  314. 9:26the end of the video I'll show you how
  315. 9:27you can download my actual temp template
  316. 9:29for this so stick around for that anyway
  317. 9:31where most people fail is on how they
  318. 9:33deliver these points to the viewers
  319. 9:35because the way in which you deliver
  320. 9:36your point is the difference between
  321. 9:37your attention graph looking like this
  322. 9:40and looking like this you see most new
  323. 9:42YouTubers make the huge mistake of
  324. 9:44simply saying a point and then
  325. 9:46explaining it so in our video editing
  326. 9:47example the mistake would be something
  327. 9:49like tip number one to making better
  328. 9:50videos is to add graphics to your video
  329. 9:53and the reason you should have Graphics
  330. 9:54to your video is because they boost your
  331. 9:55attention and demonstrate your point
  332. 9:57better and do all these other things but
  333. 9:59that's not how the top 1% of YouTube
  334. 10:01scripts are written and here's why it's
  335. 10:03all to do with something called the
  336. 10:05payout the payout is basically the
  337. 10:07moment in which the audience gets the
  338. 10:09answer to the central question that
  339. 10:10they've been waiting for so in a
  340. 10:12detective film the payout is where the
  341. 10:13Killer is finally unmasked in a fairy
  342. 10:15tale the payout is where the hero
  343. 10:17defeats the villain and in a YouTube
  344. 10:19video the payout is when you answer the
  345. 10:21points that the viewer wants to know the
  346. 10:22answer to and the top 1% of YouTube
  347. 10:24scripts have their payout at the end of
  348. 10:27their point not at the start so in the
  349. 10:29average script example that I just gave
  350. 10:31you as soon as the viewer knows that tip
  351. 10:33one is to add graphics to their video
  352. 10:36they already have their payout and then
  353. 10:37they don't need much more information
  354. 10:39therefore a lot of them will just skip
  355. 10:41ahead to the next point because they
  356. 10:42think they already know all about
  357. 10:44graphics and stuff causing your
  358. 10:45attention graph to look like this so
  359. 10:47these lines here represent each point
  360. 10:50and you can see how there's a massive
  361. 10:51dip after the point is made and this is
  362. 10:53just because the payout is given
  363. 10:55straight away so in your script instead
  364. 10:57of having the payout up front for each
  365. 10:58point that that you make you instead
  366. 11:00need to unpack your points differently
  367. 11:02to maximize engagement and how do we do
  368. 11:04this well it's easy the structure of
  369. 11:06your points should be as follow step one
  370. 11:08is you rehook the viewer for each point
  371. 11:10with a statement or question at the
  372. 11:12start and then step two is you tell a
  373. 11:14story that then builds out to the payout
  374. 11:17which is at the very end so here's a
  375. 11:19great example of Alex hosi doing this
  376. 11:21when talking about uh some business
  377. 11:23deals that he's trying to close imagine
  378. 11:25you're dating and there's only one girl
  379. 11:27on the planet you're going to find a way
  380. 11:28to think that that girl and if you know
  381. 11:30your gender's revers flip right whatever
  382. 11:32you know what I'm saying there's only
  383. 11:33one person on the planet then you're
  384. 11:35going to find a way to make that work
  385. 11:36and so it's kind of the same thing with
  386. 11:37deals if you only have one deal on the
  387. 11:39table you're going to keep telling
  388. 11:40yourself man maybe this is a good deal
  389. 11:42because you have nothing else to compare
  390. 11:43it to you always want to have a plethora
  391. 11:45of options to choose from and until you
  392. 11:47get those many options to choose from
  393. 11:49don't move forward because what happens
  394. 11:50is you artificially make that girl look
  395. 11:52a lot better or that person or that deal
  396. 11:53looks a lot better when there's nothing
  397. 11:54else to compare it to now he could have
  398. 11:56started off just by saying tip one
  399. 11:57always make sure that you've got
  400. 11:59multiple deals on the table but by
  401. 12:00starting off with a statement that says
  402. 12:02imagine you're dating and there's only
  403. 12:04one girl on the planet suddenly this
  404. 12:06point becomes a lot more interesting and
  405. 12:07you don't know where he's going with it
  406. 12:10and then he turns it into a whole story
  407. 12:11which just keeps the viewer watching
  408. 12:13until you get to the end where he says
  409. 12:15that's why you should have multiple
  410. 12:17business deals on the table so very
  411. 12:19importantly make sure that your payout
  412. 12:20is at the end of your point but if you
  413. 12:23want your channel to blow up then
  414. 12:24there's just one more thing that you
  415. 12:25need to do which takes us to step five
  416. 12:27which is understanding the relink hack
  417. 12:30so let me tell you a secret YouTube
  418. 12:31doesn't care about your videos all they
  419. 12:33care about is viewers staying on their
  420. 12:35platform for as long as possible that
  421. 12:37way they can show more ads to people
  422. 12:38causing them to basically earn more
  423. 12:39money therefore the algorithm rewards
  424. 12:42channels that keeps viewers on the
  425. 12:43platform for as long as possible so at
  426. 12:46the end of your script you need to
  427. 12:47direct viewers to another one of your
  428. 12:49videos as this keeps them on YouTube for
  429. 12:51longer meaning the algorithm is more
  430. 12:52likely to boost your channel and to do
  431. 12:54this we use something called the relink
  432. 12:56hack so at the end of your video don't
  433. 12:57just say hey guys thanks for watch
  434. 12:58watching Please Subscribe instead we use
  435. 13:00another hook that will encourage viewers
  436. 13:02to watch another one of your videos so
  437. 13:04if we go back to the editing example it
  438. 13:06could be something like thanks for
  439. 13:07watching guys but everything I've just
  440. 13:09told you in this video is completely
  441. 13:11useless if you don't have the right
  442. 13:12computer so go and check out this video
  443. 13:15here which explains what computer you
  444. 13:16need to edit better videos what this
  445. 13:18will do is cause your viewers to start
  446. 13:20binging all your videos increasing your
  447. 13:22Channel's watch time making them more
  448. 13:24likely to subscribe and it will make the
  449. 13:26algorithm absolutely love you and
  450. 13:28speaking of the relink hack I'm
  451. 13:29basically going to do it right now so
  452. 13:31everything in this video really won't
  453. 13:32mean anything if you don't have a really
  454. 13:34good thumbnail in the first place
  455. 13:36remember point one of this was to start
  456. 13:38off with a killer thumbnail as that is
  457. 13:39what informs your entire script
  458. 13:41therefore please click the video that's
  459. 13:42somewhere on the screen and watch my
  460. 13:44video where I break down the entire
  461. 13:45thumbnail creation process and also
  462. 13:48click one of the links in the
  463. 13:49description where you can download my
  464. 13:50script writing template completely for
  465. 13:52free and you can just copy and paste it
  466. 13:54onto your next video anyway see you in a
  467. 13:57bit
