Full transcript
- 0:00hello
- 0:01everyone welcome back to my Channel
- 0:04today we be learning for particles in
- 0:12N so I've seen a lot of Korean Learners
- 0:15have had difficulty understanding these
- 0:18four particles and I also know that a
- 0:21lot of people think that the concept of
- 0:24un is the most difficult part to
- 0:27understand in Korean language because
- 0:29they don't exist in English but if you
- 0:32practice a lot you'll be able to
- 0:34understand these particles you'll be
- 0:35able to use them very easily in the
- 0:38future and I am here to help you guys
- 0:40out so today I'm going to cover a lot of
- 0:43examples as much as I can so let's take
- 0:45a look at these four
- 0:54particles so and N what we called
- 0:57topping markers or topping marking part
- 0:59particles and E and C are what we called
- 1:02subject markers or subject marking
- 1:05particles wow it's hard to pronounce
- 1:07subject marking particles so as you can
- 1:09imagine is meaning from the names n n
- 1:12show us the topic of the sentence and E
- 1:15and C indicate the subject of the
- 1:18sentence so what we are talking about is
- 1:21related to toping markers in and the
- 1:24grammatical subject is related to EA
- 1:27subject markers and if the word ends
- 1:30with consonant or E should be attached
- 1:33like
- 1:34Os
- 1:36or and so on and if the word ends with
- 1:40and should be attached
- 1:45like okay you have to remember this and
- 1:48you know there are also a lot of
- 1:50features of so let's take a look at that
- 1:53one by
- 1:55one the most important feature of un is
- 1:58that like I said it shows us the topic
- 2:01so let's take a look at when un are
- 2:03exactly used so the first case is this
- 2:07sometimes you talk about some general
- 2:08effects with someone in your daily life
- 2:11right for example apples are red cheetah
- 2:14are fast or today somay these are
- 2:17General facts because everybody knows
- 2:19about that it's generally acknowledged
- 2:21to be true so when you're talking about
- 2:23these general of facts in Korean un or n
- 2:26should be attached for example app red
- 2:29is
- 2:32in
- 2:35Korean in this sentence the main topic
- 2:38is Sagwa apples right because we are
- 2:40talking about the apples Sagwa so that's
- 2:44why n is
- 2:46attached but it's also a general fact
- 2:49because apples are obviously red except
- 2:51the green apples so you have to
- 2:55use and ends with v right
- 3:01so you know is the
- 3:07answer what about this
- 3:15sentence are fast the main topic is and
- 3:19you know it's a general fact so you have
- 3:21to
- 3:25use and what about
- 3:28this
- 3:35today
- 3:37Sunday so we are talking about
- 3:40today and everybody knows today Sunday
- 3:43right so should be
- 3:50attached great and are also used when
- 3:53you're introducing yourself so let's
- 3:55take a look at the example first okay
- 3:58so
- 4:03so in this sentence the main topic is
- 4:06right I I is the important thing in this
- 4:09sentence right so that's why is
- 4:18here and so on and if you
- 4:26say it means this is my mother okay so
- 4:29this
- 4:30is what we are talking about right
- 4:32that's the main topic so that's why is
- 4:36attached or if you
- 4:39say it means this is my
- 4:42friend
- 4:46okay number three this is
- 4:49important can also show the contrast or
- 4:52the opposite so if you use them in that
- 4:55way the meaning will be totally changed
- 4:57so for example if someone ask
- 5:00ask do you like
- 5:03[Music]
- 5:04animals and then if you
- 5:09say it means I hate animals but I like
- 5:14cats right there in the context
- 5:16listeners will expect you to say
- 5:18something different something opposite
- 5:20things
- 5:22okay I hate animals but I like
- 5:26cats and this is another example if
- 5:29someone ask
- 5:31Hammer are you able to eat seafood
- 5:35ham and then you
- 5:38say it means I cannot eat any kind of se
- 5:41but
- 5:46shs so that's why is attached okay
- 5:49showing the contrast so from now on
- 5:52let's imagine you are with your friends
- 5:54and you guys are talking about where to
- 5:56go in Korea okay and if one of your
- 5:58friends says
- 6:02it means I want to go to
- 6:06okay and then if you
- 6:13say it means I want to go to so it
- 6:16implies the meaning that you don't want
- 6:18to go to home
- 6:25okay so let me summarize when you are
- 6:28talking about facts introducing yourself
- 6:32or showing contrast you have to use un
- 6:35or
- 6:38n from now on we'll be learning e and Ka
- 6:42EA you know this particles function is
- 6:44to express a grammatical relationship
- 6:47with other words or phrases they are
- 6:49attached to nouns and indicate which
- 6:52nouns are the subject of the verbs which
- 6:54describe an action or a state of being
- 6:57first of all e and C are you used when
- 6:59you observe or describe something you
- 7:02will always use them if the verb is a
- 7:05descriptive one so for example imagine
- 7:08you in a zoo and watching a cheetah okay
- 7:11you are observing a cheetah and then you
- 7:13found out the cheetah is a little bit
- 7:15slow which is really weird so you want
- 7:18to say about that to someone who you're
- 7:20with you can
- 7:27say which means oh that CH is slow oh
- 7:31the CH is slow in English you are
- 7:34observing CH and you are talking about
- 7:37that so should be
- 7:42attached if you
- 7:44say it sounds like more general fact
- 7:47like Chas are slow or every CH is slow
- 7:51but if you say
- 7:53CH it means the you know the one you are
- 7:57watching is slow
- 8:01and the subject is ch right it is the
- 8:04subject of the verb slow of course it's
- 8:07not a verb in English but it's
- 8:09considered to be a verb I mean most of
- 8:11English adjectives are actually
- 8:13descriptive verbs in Korean we only have
- 8:17verbs at the end of the sentence so is
- 8:20considered to be a verb
- 8:23okay what about this case if you're in
- 8:26your friend's place and you looking at
- 8:28your friend's cat and you want to
- 8:30express the cat is cute in Korean you
- 8:33can
- 8:35say
- 8:42or which means oh the cat is cute oh
- 8:45this cat is so cute what a cute cat you
- 8:49were observing the cat and you want to
- 8:51describe the cat so should be
- 8:58attached
- 8:59okay this is other situation you are
- 9:01walking the street okay and then an
- 9:04older lady who were getting a lot of
- 9:06luggage suddenly caught your eyes so you
- 9:08want to help her out if you
- 9:13say it means oh you have much
- 9:18luggage you have much luggage I'll help
- 9:23you you were observing so e should be
- 9:26attached and you know Jim ends with the
- 9:29consonant me right so should
- 9:35come all right so when you observe
- 9:37something and describe something you
- 9:39have to put e
- 9:43[Applause]
- 9:46and great the second case of using EA is
- 9:50to emphasize the subject let's take a
- 9:53look at the example imagine you're in
- 9:55your home with your mother okay your mom
- 9:58is suddenly angry and
- 10:00ask who ate it
- 10:04all and actually you ate it all so
- 10:07you're going to tell her the truth so
- 10:08you can
- 10:15say I'm the one who ate it okay I'm the
- 10:18one who did
- 10:20it so in this sentence you are
- 10:22emphasizing the subject right I'm the
- 10:25one who did
- 10:27it um well what about this if you are a
- 10:30policeman and you arrested the criminal
- 10:34so you are going to say this guy is the
- 10:36criminal that you've been looking for
- 10:38okay you can
- 10:41say should be a test this
- 10:46guy you've been looking
- 10:48for the
- 10:58criminal from now on let's learn about
- 11:01the difference between and
- 11:05okay imagine the situation that a person
- 11:08a asked to you what CH is doing now
- 11:13okay what is just
- 11:16doing so in this sentence the main topic
- 11:19is right so that's why is
- 11:27attached
- 11:32went
- 11:35for so in this conversation a was
- 11:38curious about what chu is doing now
- 11:41right so the main topic is Chu so that's
- 11:44why is
- 11:48attached so you have to answer
- 11:52like because it's a main
- 11:57topic if the person be asked to
- 12:03you who went for by emphasizing the
- 12:06subject you have to say
- 12:11like the one who did
- 12:16it the person B was curious about the
- 12:19person who went foran so the focus of
- 12:22the answer is a subject this why is used
- 12:25twice
- 12:27like
- 12:32great let's take a look at another
- 12:34situation you are drinking coffee with
- 12:36someone and the coffee is really really
- 12:38hot so you want to describe about it
- 12:40okay it's description you can
- 12:45say oh this coffee is
- 12:50hot and then you drun another coffee and
- 12:53it wasn't hot at all so how can you talk
- 12:55about that in Korean you should use n to
- 12:57show contrast
- 13:03right another coffee is hot but this is
- 13:09not get it so let's move on to the next
- 13:12step we are going to learn how to
- 13:15combine in one sentence let's take a
- 13:17look at
- 13:25this studying Korean is
- 13:27fun
- 13:30what is the topic here we are talking
- 13:33about right studying Korean Korean study
- 13:37so that's why is
- 13:41there okay but what if you put because
- 13:45you want to say that you are the one who
- 13:47likes studying
- 13:51Korean combined together it becomes
- 13:54really
- 13:57interesting
- 14:06for me studying Korean is
- 14:17fun let's take a look another
- 14:22example
- 14:24hurg hamburger tastes good
- 14:27hurg the topic here hamburger right so
- 14:32Hamburg
- 14:34H but what if you are in front of a
- 14:37hamburger restaurant and talk about that
- 14:43hamburger combine
- 14:54together as for this restaurant
- 14:57hamburger tastes good when it comes to
