  1. 0:00What if you could turn a technical, dry
  2. 0:02landscape plan into a rich, stylized
  3. 0:05presentation in a fraction of the time?
  4. 0:07With a building block library and
  5. 0:09material library, you can move from
  6. 0:11technical to visual faster than ever and
  7. 0:13even create a design detail customizable
  8. 0:16library instead of starting from scratch
  9. 0:18for each project. Every landscape
  10. 0:20project has its own site conditions and
  11. 0:22client vision, but your work flow
  12. 0:24doesn't have to start from scratch each
  13. 0:25time. With a ready-to-use CAD block
  14. 0:27library, a built-in material library,
  15. 0:30and AI to support your design decisions,
  16. 0:32you can move from concept to convincing
  17. 0:35live ready presentation much faster. In
  18. 0:38this tutorial, I'll walk you through a
  19. 0:39complete landscape design process from
  20. 0:41[music] start to finish, showing you how
  21. 0:44to use these plug-and-play planting
  22. 0:45blocks, hardscape modules, and material
  23. 0:47palettes to quickly build and refine
  24. 0:49your plan without redrawing the common
  25. 0:52elements. In Rayon Design, we'll import
  26. 0:54a site plan, develop the layout, apply
  27. 0:56the materials, and transform this
  28. 0:58technical drawing into a rich, [music]
  29. 1:00stylized plan that clients and
  30. 1:02stakeholders can instantly understand.
  31. 1:04You can create a free account using the
  32. 1:06link below to follow along and access
  33. 1:08[music] the same assets used in the
  34. 1:10walk-through. Should we get started?
  35. 1:14No matter the scope, refreshing an
  36. 1:16existing outdoor space or shaping a
  37. 1:19brand new landscape, the starting point
  38. 1:21is usually the same, a site drawing. So,
  39. 1:23let's get started by importing your DWG
  40. 1:26site plan. Okay, let's start by
  41. 1:28importing our DWG. So, you can see my
  42. 1:30Rayon home screen here. It's a bit of a
  43. 1:32mess, I'll admit. Let's go to import,
  44. 1:34>> [music]
  45. 1:35>> and then I'll go to my downloads folder,
  46. 1:37and I can see my DWG there. I just press
  47. 1:39okay, and then it comes up with a number
  48. 1:42of these toggles. So, make model public,
  49. 1:44import hidden layers, import empty
  50. 1:46layers, import blocks [music] without
  51. 1:47instance. So, I tend to leave these off.
  52. 1:49You can see the name of the DWG there,
  53. 1:51and I'll press import. This just takes a
  54. 1:53second to convert the model, um and it
  55. 1:56will open up into a temporary space. So,
  56. 1:59you can see there we've got a building,
  57. 2:01so it's a, um, sports area, and then we
  58. 2:04have the landscape area here. And the
  59. 2:06first thing I want to do, it's asking me
  60. 2:08to draw a line by clicking on two points
  61. 2:10to find a familiar element to make sure
  62. 2:12it's to scale. So, let's just find, um,
  63. 2:15a single doorway, for example, and I'll
  64. 2:18click here and here, and that's coming
  65. 2:19out at 0.88
  66. 2:21m. [music] So, 880 for a door, that
  67. 2:24sounds right. So, we're going to press
  68. 2:26continue. So, that really isn't just
  69. 2:27asking you how big it is, it's about you
  70. 2:29making sure that it is in meters or
  71. 2:32millimeters, so it gets it to the right
  72. 2:34scale. So, we're going to press
  73. 2:35continue. That will then scale the
  74. 2:37model, and it will come into our model
  75. 2:39space in our new drawing, [music]
  76. 2:41ready to work on. Okay, with the base
  77. 2:43drawing imported, let's start organizing
  78. 2:45the layout, defining those planting
  79. 2:47areas and hardscape elements, and
  80. 2:49finally building a cohesive mood board
  81. 2:51and a clear material direction. Okay, so
  82. 2:54now with the DWG imported, I want to do
  83. 2:56a couple of things just to clean [music]
  84. 2:58up the drawing. So, first of all, I'm
  85. 3:00going to go over to the layers tab, and
  86. 3:02I'm going to [music] select all of my
  87. 3:03layers, and I'm going to create a new
  88. 3:05layer, I'm going to call it import, and
  89. 3:07then I'm just going to nest, so
  90. 3:09literally by dragging and dropping into
  91. 3:11that layer, all of those layers inside.
  92. 3:13So, then I know all my existing stuff is
  93. 3:15on one layer that I can adjust. If you
  94. 3:18have a look in there, I still have those
  95. 3:19sublayers, so I can still, you know,
  96. 3:21adapt and and change them if I wanted
  97. 3:23to. Then I'll just create a new layer,
  98. 3:25proposed,
  99. 3:26>> [music]
  100. 3:26>> and just want to go back into those
  101. 3:27nested layers, and I want to turn off
  102. 3:30the hatches. So, you can see there the
  103. 3:32hatches are all on a layer, I just want
  104. 3:34to clean that drawing up, and now that's
  105. 3:36looking nice and clean. So, then at
  106. 3:39least that at least gives us a little
  107. 3:40base to start from. So, I can hide that,
  108. 3:43and I can even lock it to make sure that
  109. 3:45I don't start moving anything. So, the
  110. 3:47next step is to start to think about our
  111. 3:50different types of finishes, our
  112. 3:52different layers, are different
  113. 3:53materials that we're going to put into
  114. 3:55the landscape. So, let's start by
  115. 3:58creating some styles. So, our style
  116. 4:00library is over here. So, this is all
  117. 4:02the different line types, fill types,
  118. 4:04and even wall types. They all live
  119. 4:07within the style library, even text and
  120. 4:09annotation styles. So, we can use the
  121. 4:12original DWG and we could just use the
  122. 4:14bucket tool to fill the different
  123. 4:16elements. So, let's show you very
  124. 4:18quickly how to do that. So, if I choose
  125. 4:20the bucket tool, which lives down here
  126. 4:22into our editing tools here, you can see
  127. 4:24that over here, bucket. I also have a
  128. 4:27shortcut, which is BB, which I tend to
  129. 4:28use all the time. I can just go round
  130. 4:30and start filling, you know, different
  131. 4:32elements in, and then I can assign a
  132. 4:35fill to those, change the colors, change
  133. 4:37the hatches, and go from there. The
  134. 4:39problem with that is that these are just
  135. 4:41fills. They I don't have those smart
  136. 4:42properties. The way that I like to do
  137. 4:44things, and I think the better way for
  138. 4:46you to do it, is for you to trace these
  139. 4:48elements with real [music] walls, which
  140. 4:50allows then you to place zones, and
  141. 4:53those zones will be smart elements. So,
  142. 4:56let's show you how to do that. So, we
  143. 4:57want to go down to my wall tool.
  144. 4:59>> [music]
  145. 4:59>> The wall tool is incredibly helpful in
  146. 5:01being able to set a thickness, have a
  147. 5:03fill, a stroke length, and then save
  148. 5:05that as a style. So, for example, these
  149. 5:08wall elements are drawn at 300 mil. So,
  150. 5:11I'm to create a new wall style, for
  151. 5:13example, and I want to say 0.3 [music]
  152. 5:16m, I'll do that as a red color for now.
  153. 5:19I'll save that until the boundary
  154. 5:21straight.
  155. 5:22And then I can just go round, I'll
  156. 5:24select my wall, I'll make sure that this
  157. 5:26style is selected. I'll just show you
  158. 5:28quickly in the style tab, we scroll down
  159. 5:31here, you'll see that wall style here,
  160. 5:33and I can edit it from there as well,
  161. 5:34which is really helpful. And then I can
  162. 5:36just very quickly go round and trace
  163. 5:38these different elements. Now, if I just
  164. 5:40click on once, it will have a straight.
  165. 5:43You'll see down here though, I can add
  166. 5:44an arc. So, I could find this point,
  167. 5:47click, and then pull that out. Exactly
  168. 5:49the same thing with the next one. Find
  169. 5:50that point, pull it out, [music] and
  170. 5:51click. And then onto this next one. So,
  171. 5:53you can see that I've just done it as
  172. 5:55red to show you, but you know, in
  173. 5:57reality, I could go back in and I can
  174. 5:59change that by my layers and I can hide
  175. 6:02import layer and I just have on [music]
  176. 6:04my geometry. So, let's quickly just
  177. 6:06finish that shape. Okay, and with that
  178. 6:08completed, let me just hide that and
  179. 6:10then you can see that continuous shape.
  180. 6:12Now, we can look at using the zone tool.
  181. 6:14So, the zone tool sits below the wall
  182. 6:16tool down here. I click on that and then
  183. 6:18it will read the inside area between a
  184. 6:21wall. I'll click on that and I'll show
  185. 6:23you what happens. So, not only does it
  186. 6:24form a zone, it also forms a label. So,
  187. 6:27it will tell you what area that element
  188. 6:30is. So, the zone kind of sits as an
  189. 6:32element in its own right. The really
  190. 6:33great thing is that with that zone, you
  191. 6:35can change its fill. You can also have
  192. 6:38those areas feed into a spreadsheet and
  193. 6:40they will update. That's a really,
  194. 6:41really useful thing if you're looking at
  195. 6:43material quantities, for example. So,
  196. 6:44for example, let's say this area has a
  197. 6:46flagstone finish, for example. So, we
  198. 6:49can go in and we can fill it as a
  199. 6:50gradient, a texture, as a hatch, or even
  200. 6:53a single image if you wanted to. So, I'm
  201. 6:54going to go to texture, which is here,
  202. 6:56and let's have a look down our list to
  203. 6:58see if there's anything appropriate. So,
  204. 7:00you can see we have a number of outdoor
  205. 7:02standard textures or reset. Yeah, this
  206. 7:04stone paving looks good. You can see the
  207. 7:05scale of that, how it repeats. I can
  208. 7:08change the scale. So, if I wanted it to
  209. 7:10be a larger format, I could say,
  210. 7:12"Actually, that's going to be a bit lot
  211. 7:13bigger." I can rotate, for example.
  212. 7:16Let's give it a
  213. 7:1725-degree rotation to break it up a
  214. 7:18little bit. I can even offset the
  215. 7:20pattern within that fill rate. I can
  216. 7:22change the opacity, so I could knock
  217. 7:24that back slightly if I wanted to. I can
  218. 7:26even change the sort of tone, contrast,
  219. 7:29exposure of the image itself. So, you
  220. 7:31could say, "Actually, let's make it a
  221. 7:32bit lighter and reduce the contrast
  222. 7:34slightly, increase the saturation, and
  223. 7:35go from there." Now, I've set that
  224. 7:37texture and I just want to go into here
  225. 7:39and I want to save it as a style. So,
  226. 7:41you can see here, I'll just press save
  227. 7:43style and we'll call that
  228. 7:45>> [music]
  229. 7:45>> flagstones. And then if I just look over
  230. 7:47here, we've got our styles on here and
  231. 7:50you can see flagstone paving. So, if I
  232. 7:52put this style in a lot of different
  233. 7:54places, I could just go in and I could
  234. 7:56edit it in here and I could say, "Well,
  235. 7:58actually maybe three times is too big.
  236. 7:59Change it to two." And it updates
  237. 8:01everywhere, which is really, really
  238. 8:03powerful. So, if you start setting your
  239. 8:05office standards or you change your mind
  240. 8:06later, it will update [music] wherever
  241. 8:08that element is seen. Okay, so I've just
  242. 8:10done a little bit more time tracing over
  243. 8:13those wall elements. [music]
  244. 8:15And I'm just going to turn off my
  245. 8:16background so you can see it cleanly.
  246. 8:18So, you can see the different
  247. 8:19thicknesses of walls that I've set. So,
  248. 8:21I've got one style which is 300 mil, one
  249. 8:23style that is 100 mil, and one style
  250. 8:25that is 600 to show those different
  251. 8:27thicknesses. And they all live um
  252. 8:29>> [music]
  253. 8:29>> within my
  254. 8:31within my wall style tab. And then I can
  255. 8:34then go around and think about how I
  256. 8:36would fill those the materiality of
  257. 8:38those different elements. [music] So,
  258. 8:39we've got some key areas. So, one will
  259. 8:42be grass. So, I'll select my zone tool
  260. 8:44down here and I want to um
  261. 8:47>> [music]
  262. 8:47>> select this area. It'll automatically
  263. 8:49choose the style I chose previously, but
  264. 8:51I'll create a new style. I'll change
  265. 8:53this texture.
  266. 8:55Scroll down, choose grass. Again, I can
  267. 8:59change
  268. 9:00>> [music]
  269. 9:00>> the scale apart. Yeah, that's good. I
  270. 9:03can probably make it a bit lighter, a
  271. 9:05little bit less vibrant. Yeah, that
  272. 9:08looks good.
  273. 9:09And then I can save that as
  274. 9:12grass. I'll turn off the stroke.
  275. 9:15And then when I go to use a zone tool
  276. 9:17again down the bottom, I can make sure
  277. 9:19that my picker style is selected and
  278. 9:22then I can go down
  279. 9:24and do it again.
  280. 9:26And the really, really useful thing that
  281. 9:28I love about using zones is it gives you
  282. 9:31those areas. So, there any of those
  283. 9:33zones that I click on, it will give me
  284. 9:35the area, which is really helpful as
  285. 9:37well. Similarly, if we wanted to use our
  286. 9:39flagstones again, I could press on the
  287. 9:41zone tool and I could use that picker
  288. 9:43style.
  289. 9:44And I could click there. Perfect. Say I
  290. 9:47wanted a [music]
  291. 9:48um a rectilinear paving as well. I could
  292. 9:51again I could click on zones or I could
  293. 9:53attach that style. Now I like to find a
  294. 9:55new style.
  295. 9:57Find something
  296. 9:59suitable.
  297. 10:01And this one again I don't know what 45°
  298. 10:05so that is zero.
  299. 10:08What do we think of the scale? Maybe
  300. 10:09they should be a bit bigger. So again I
  301. 10:11can go into transform. Select to three.
  302. 10:14You know, I could even give it a bit of
  303. 10:16filter to make it a bit darker. So it's
  304. 10:18a bit more of a sort of concrete-y tone.
  305. 10:20Yeah, it looks good. And then finally
  306. 10:22maybe we need a gravel texture. So go
  307. 10:25into zone. [music]
  308. 10:26I'll select this one space. I'll remove
  309. 10:28that style. And I'll set a new one.
  310. 10:31Again we scroll down. Let's go with this
  311. 10:33one. Yeah, with this one. Again I can
  312. 10:36change
  313. 10:39style right over but less contrasty.
  314. 10:41[music] And again I'll save this that is
  315. 10:44gravel.
  316. 10:46It's a
  317. 10:47and then when I want to fill in these
  318. 10:49other two again I just do picker style.
  319. 10:55Say for example I changed my mind as
  320. 10:56well. Now that I placed the style I can
  321. 10:58click on it. Just use the little eye
  322. 11:00dropper here and I can switch it back to
  323. 11:03match [music] another of the styles.
  324. 11:05Perfect.
  325. 11:07The other element I just want to show
  326. 11:08you is in the style library. We click on
  327. 11:10that and I'll just scroll down. You can
  328. 11:12see those styles that I've created. So
  329. 11:14our flagstones, our gravel, our grass,
  330. 11:16and our paving. One thing I can do is
  331. 11:18add a style from the style library. So
  332. 11:20rather than drawing it in here, add a
  333. 11:22new style here. So you add a new shape,
  334. 11:25wall type, a text, or an annotation. And
  335. 11:27this is a really helpful way for you
  336. 11:28just to start setting up your office
  337. 11:30standards or your styles that you want
  338. 11:32to be able to share amongst your teams,
  339. 11:34amongst your projects. So, I could set
  340. 11:36up a new shape style, which is what
  341. 11:38these fill elements are. This one, and I
  342. 11:40could call it
  343. 11:43timber decking. [music] You can tell
  344. 11:44Paul. You can add a fill, find a timber
  345. 11:47type there. Again, I could change the
  346. 11:49scale exposure. And then if I wanted to
  347. 11:52draw a zone or a shape or whatever that
  348. 11:55was, let's just do a shape. As long as
  349. 11:56I've got that style selected, [music]
  350. 11:59there it is. If I go into here and say
  351. 12:01those boards look a bit too big, and I
  352. 12:04could change the scale.
  353. 12:06And I could change the rotation. And
  354. 12:08like I said, that could be an office
  355. 12:09standard across, you know, what you're
  356. 12:11doing. Next, we'll show you the block
  357. 12:13library. So, I use the block library all
  358. 12:15the time. It is full of 10,000
  359. 12:17more
  360. 12:18blocks, top, side, front views.
  361. 12:21Incredibly useful part of Rayon. And you
  362. 12:24can see here that it has
  363. 12:26>> [music]
  364. 12:26>> everything you could ever want. So, it
  365. 12:28is basically splits everything into its
  366. 12:30library. So, things from basic things,
  367. 12:32animals, bedroom accessories, chairs,
  368. 12:35dining room elements, you know, garden
  369. 12:37accessories, hospitality, kitchen,
  370. 12:39laundry, anything you could want lives
  371. 12:42inside the Rayon block library. And if
  372. 12:44it doesn't, Rayon has an incredible
  373. 12:46tool, which is their AI block creator.
  374. 12:50So, you can generate a block from an
  375. 12:52image. I'll show you you that in a
  376. 12:53second. So,
  377. 12:55with this landscape, obviously we're
  378. 12:56interested in things like planting or
  379. 12:58external features. So, we can go into
  380. 13:01here to look at things like garden and
  381. 13:02farm accessories. So, you know, we have
  382. 13:05things like pizza ovens, bird houses,
  383. 13:08statues, yeah, sort of small elements
  384. 13:10within a garden. We also have,
  385. 13:13obviously, trees and vegetation. So, we
  386. 13:16could go down to urban landscape, for
  387. 13:19example. We have trees, we have picnic
  388. 13:21tables, yeah, things you might need from
  389. 13:23bus stops to benches, hedge lines, trash
  390. 13:27bins, yeah, anything you can think of.
  391. 13:29The really good thing is that if I click
  392. 13:32on this element and just drag it in,
  393. 13:33yeah, it's very very simple. I've got a
  394. 13:35very simple tree outline. [music]
  395. 13:37But interestingly, if I go to open, it
  396. 13:39provides me with a front and a side view
  397. 13:41as well. So there you have your top,
  398. 13:43your front, and your side. So you know
  399. 13:44when you're drawing something in plan,
  400. 13:46that same block can be swapped out for
  401. 13:49the exact [music] elevation or section
  402. 13:51element, and you know it matches. And
  403. 13:53that works for all of these different
  404. 13:54elements. Take this bench, for example.
  405. 13:56I can just drag it in, and that sits as
  406. 13:58a top view, but I also have a side view
  407. 14:01and a front view. [music]
  408. 14:03Yeah, you can see all of those things
  409. 14:04are aligning, they all match perfectly.
  410. 14:06Yeah, I just find it such a helpful
  411. 14:08element of Revit to have all of those
  412. 14:09things already built in. The other
  413. 14:11really great thing about the block
  414. 14:12library is that it goes into depth
  415. 14:14[music] with its pre-built elements. So
  416. 14:16if we look at the vegetation, for
  417. 14:17example, it has different species of
  418. 14:19trees. So we have birch trees, palm
  419. 14:21trees, oaks. And again,
  420. 14:23these are good quality [music]
  421. 14:25drawings, and they have those top and
  422. 14:29front and side views, which are perfect
  423. 14:31if you're drawing a plan or an
  424. 14:33elevation. So I could literally just
  425. 14:35start populating my drawing with these
  426. 14:39different types of trees just by
  427. 14:40dragging and dropping. Obviously, I can
  428. 14:42scale them, and the line weights update.
  429. 14:45I can even go in to the block itself and
  430. 14:48change the style. So I can go in and I
  431. 14:50can change the line weight, the style,
  432. 14:52the color, [music] you know, anything I
  433. 14:54like. Let's go into here, and say
  434. 14:57actually maybe it wants to be a lighter
  435. 14:59tone, for example, and the solid color
  436. 15:01wants to be, you know, a bit of warmer.
  437. 15:03>> [music]
  438. 15:04>> And you'll notice because that is a
  439. 15:05style, that affects all of those
  440. 15:07elements that I'm dragging in. So then
  441. 15:09everything matches. You know, I can even
  442. 15:11start
  443. 15:12arranging things. So if I just right
  444. 15:13click, I can bring different things to
  445. 15:16different levels, which is perfect for
  446. 15:17sort of fine-tuning what you're trying
  447. 15:19to show. Okay, so I've just spent some
  448. 15:21time populating my drawing with the
  449. 15:23vegetation I want and it's starting to
  450. 15:25look really good.
  451. 15:27So, what happens if I want a block that
  452. 15:29the Rion library doesn't have? Good
  453. 15:31question. So, we want to jump into the
  454. 15:33AI chat. So, the AI chat allows us to
  455. 15:35create our own block. So, I can see down
  456. 15:37here into tools. Rion has this generate
  457. 15:40product element, which is turn a product
  458. 15:42image or simple prompt into a CAD block.
  459. 15:44So, let's click on that, add a file or a
  460. 15:46screenshot. So, we'll go to files and
  461. 15:48I've got this screenshot of um a bench
  462. 15:50that I want to introduce [music] and
  463. 15:52I'll press send. So, Rion's going to be
  464. 15:54doing a couple of things here. So, it's
  465. 15:56going to be removing the background and
  466. 15:57it's going to be looking at that image
  467. 15:59of a bench and generating a top, front,
  468. 16:02and a side view along with estimating
  469. 16:04the um dimensions. So, you can see there
  470. 16:07it's starting to understand it and very
  471. 16:09shortly it will give us a CAD block.
  472. 16:11Okay, you can see that there. So, we
  473. 16:13have our front, we have our side,
  474. 16:15>> [music]
  475. 16:16>> um and our top view. And I can do a
  476. 16:19couple of things. So, I can import the
  477. 16:20whole block family so then that sits in
  478. 16:22my library, which I will do, and then I
  479. 16:24can just insert the plan view for now.
  480. 16:27So, you can see that. It's estimated the
  481. 16:28dimensions, it's
  482. 16:29>> [music]
  483. 16:29>> introduced that curve, and I've got that
  484. 16:31block there. It's even called it bench.
  485. 16:33So, I can go into here and I can change
  486. 16:35my line weights if I wanted to. I can
  487. 16:37even give
  488. 16:38>> [music]
  489. 16:39>> these elements fill, for example.
  490. 16:42Yeah, that means that when I drag it
  491. 16:44onto my drawing, say, so I have it over
  492. 16:47here, it has a level of transparency,
  493. 16:49but it's self a fill. That's perfect.
  494. 16:51And the really useful thing is that I
  495. 16:53could, you know, say you have a set
  496. 16:55product that you use very, you know,
  497. 16:57frequently. You could build that in
  498. 16:59Rion, save that as your block element,
  499. 17:01[music]
  500. 17:02and then share it with your team. So,
  501. 17:04say you had that as a block, all you
  502. 17:06would need to do is go to share over
  503. 17:08here and I can share my libraries. So,
  504. 17:11just like I can share my style
  505. 17:13libraries, so all of those things for
  506. 17:14the the the paving, the flagstones, for
  507. 17:17example, All of those things I set up. I
  508. 17:19can also publish my blocks and share
  509. 17:21them. So, I could make all the pieces of
  510. 17:23furniture that I wanted, make all those
  511. 17:25elements that I use regularly, and
  512. 17:26publish those and share them with my
  513. 17:28team as well. All of that streamlines
  514. 17:30your process. The other thing that I
  515. 17:32just want to show you is about sharing
  516. 17:34your details. So, we can share our
  517. 17:36styles, we can share blocks, but also
  518. 17:39I've got these standard details, which
  519. 17:41are relevant to the landscape, you know,
  520. 17:42things like edgings, things like tree
  521. 17:44pits, build-ups, drainage channels.
  522. 17:46[music] So, these are things that I
  523. 17:47might as a practice use over and over
  524. 17:49again. I can set these as a template.
  525. 17:52So, if these have been drawn, you know,
  526. 17:54I go around and I set up all of these, I
  527. 17:56can then, next to share, I've got
  528. 17:58libraries, and then I've got templates.
  529. 18:00So, I could just toggle this on and
  530. 18:02publish everything in here as a
  531. 18:04template. With that, I can give access
  532. 18:06to members of my team. So, if you have
  533. 18:08their email address, we can all set them
  534. 18:09up within Rayon and share them within
  535. 18:12there, and you can add those people as
  536. 18:14an editor or an admin into that
  537. 18:15template. And it's just the same with
  538. 18:17our styles and with our blocks. So,
  539. 18:20you're basically setting all of your
  540. 18:22office standards, and that will make
  541. 18:24everything much, much more efficient. By
  542. 18:26now, you've seen how working with a
  543. 18:28plug-and-play library of CAD blocks and
  544. 18:30material styles can streamline your
  545. 18:32process and help create a clear drawing.
  546. 18:35With the core drawing process in place,
  547. 18:37I want to show you two more ways to save
  548. 18:39you time, whilst also making your
  549. 18:41drawings clearer, richer, and more
  550. 18:43persuasive for your clients. We'll start
  551. 18:45with how you can use AI to unlock more
  552. 18:48value from your landscape layouts and
  553. 18:49drawings in just a few clicks. Rayon's
  554. 18:52AI panel will help you design,
  555. 18:54visualize, and refine your projects
  556. 18:56faster than ever before. From generating
  557. 18:58axonometric drawings to creating custom
  558. 19:00CAD blocks, producing realistic 3D
  559. 19:03renders, even replacing furniture or
  560. 19:04materials, you can try endless prompts
  561. 19:07that will save you hours and unlock
  562. 19:09those new creative possibilities. This
  563. 19:11is extremely powerful, especially during
  564. 19:13the initial design phase when you want
  565. 19:15to present your clients with various
  566. 19:17options before fully committing and
  567. 19:19diving into those shop drawings for
  568. 19:21execution. Let's explore how we can
  569. 19:22bring a new floor plan to life by
  570. 19:24creating a 3D axonometric view and
  571. 19:27applying our mood board material choices
  572. 19:29with just a few prompts.
  573. 19:31Okay, so now let's check out the AI
  574. 19:33chat. So, I've created a new thread. I'm
  575. 19:36going to tools [music] and first of all,
  576. 19:38we'll do regenerate an axonometric. So,
  577. 19:40that's create an NS axonometric view
  578. 19:42from the scene's floor plan or section.
  579. 19:44So, we click on here and then we need to
  580. 19:45prompt it with something. So, we'll give
  581. 19:47it a screenshot of our landscape plan.
  582. 19:50So, that will be then reading that as
  583. 19:52the prompt. It will follow its own
  584. 19:53internal instructions to generate an
  585. 19:55axonometric. And here it is.
  586. 19:57So,
  587. 19:58you can see there it's taken an
  588. 20:00understanding of the um site, given it a
  589. 20:02representation in 3D and we can insert
  590. 20:05that. So, one thing I like to do is
  591. 20:07remove the background so I can go to
  592. 20:09edit with the AI, which is down here,
  593. 20:11and I can remove background. You'll see
  594. 20:14there it'll just take a second. I'll say
  595. 20:15done. And that's really good because
  596. 20:17then I can start overlaying it with
  597. 20:19different elements. It seems to work
  598. 20:20really really well. The other thing I
  599. 20:22can do is reuse that image. So, if I go
  600. 20:25right click on this and then say
  601. 20:26reference in chat, that then places it
  602. 20:29within the AI chat. And I can do
  603. 20:30something else like stylize it. So, why
  604. 20:33don't we try a watercolor style? So,
  605. 20:35this will take that information from the
  606. 20:37axo
  607. 20:38um and add a predefined watercolor style
  608. 20:40to that.
  609. 20:41There you go. Wow, good work. Yeah, I
  610. 20:43mean that gives a really you know, nice
  611. 20:45soft first impression you know, if
  612. 20:47you're creating a sort of feasibility
  613. 20:49study or you know, something early on to
  614. 20:51give it an idea. You get the flow of the
  615. 20:53shapes and um the materiality. Yeah,
  616. 20:56that's good. All that generated from a
  617. 20:58simple floor plan. Perfect. And there
  618. 21:00you go. This will make our design intent
  619. 21:02so much clearer to our clients. Now,
  620. 21:04let's see how it all comes together in
  621. 21:06the final part, setting up your client
  622. 21:08presentation. Rayon is your one-stop
  623. 21:10shop to go all the way from concept
  624. 21:12design to construction drawings and
  625. 21:14client presentations. You can use the
  626. 21:16paper canvas and the model canvas to set
  627. 21:18out your drawings and always have the
  628. 21:20most up-to-date drawing represented in
  629. 21:21your document. So, let's dive in and see
  630. 21:24how to do that. Okay, so we've currently
  631. 21:26got our import canvas, which is the one
  632. 21:28where our model is. We have our detail
  633. 21:31canvas. So, they [music] were
  634. 21:32technically model canvases. I want to
  635. 21:34create a paper canvas, so I'll click on
  636. 21:36this little plus sign up here and select
  637. 21:38paper canvas. And this is really about
  638. 21:40my drawing sheets. So, we'll call it
  639. 21:42paper canvas and then we will be
  640. 21:44prompted to create a page. So, over in
  641. 21:47the right-hand side, we can choose a
  642. 21:49size. So, [music] make this an A3 page,
  643. 21:52for example. I can have that as portrait
  644. 21:54or landscape, and then I can add a title
  645. 21:57sheet, for example. So, title sheet is a
  646. 21:59type of block. So, we'll go over to
  647. 22:01blocks, we'll go to our block library,
  648. 22:04and then we'll scroll down to [music]
  649. 22:06title blocks annotations, and then I can
  650. 22:08easily just drag in an A3 title block,
  651. 22:11and it sits there like that. Perfect.
  652. 22:13I could then go in and copy these. So, I
  653. 22:17can copy one and two, three, say, but I
  654. 22:20can copy the title sheet as well.
  655. 22:24You know, I can go in and I can edit
  656. 22:25these. So, you can see on the right-hand
  657. 22:27side that I can add
  658. 22:28um or I can input into these instance
  659. 22:30properties. So, I can add things like
  660. 22:32the name, the project name, the scale,
  661. 22:34[music] all of those elements that I
  662. 22:35would normally have on a title sheet.
  663. 22:38But the most helpful thing [music] is to
  664. 22:40start adding the views. So, over on the
  665. 22:42left-hand side, we've got layers. So,
  666. 22:44we'll go to a view, which is down here,
  667. 22:46and I'll get a view from the import
  668. 22:49canvas. So, this is where my
  669. 22:51um my 2D plan is and where my axos are.
  670. 22:53So, I can start positioning this. I can
  671. 22:55set a scale. So, on the right-hand side,
  672. 22:57I can set this to
  673. 22:591 to 200, for example, which seems like
  674. 23:01a good scale. I can crop. I just drag in
  675. 23:04these viewfinder boundary and it really
  676. 23:06is as if you're taking a view down onto
  677. 23:08the model canvas. So, that's our model
  678. 23:11view and I could copy that view and then
  679. 23:13I could pan across to this one. Again, I
  680. 23:16could crop it. I could scale it and I
  681. 23:18could position it at this, for example,
  682. 23:21you know, I even have a little overlap,
  683. 23:22which I quite like. I could then add
  684. 23:24another view. So, again, I can input my
  685. 23:26view from here. Again, I could scale
  686. 23:28this this view here. I could make this
  687. 23:31bigger or smaller. I could even start
  688. 23:33thinking about, let's jump back to the
  689. 23:35import layer. You know, I could have a
  690. 23:36series of material swatches, for
  691. 23:38example.
  692. 23:40Let's go into our pre-built styles.
  693. 23:42Let's say one is the decking, one is
  694. 23:44gravel.
  695. 23:45>> [music]
  696. 23:46>> One is grass, one is flagstones. You
  697. 23:48know, make it sit as a palette alongside
  698. 23:51[music] a canvas, for example, very
  699. 23:53quickly, very easily. And then, I could
  700. 23:55add my um detail views. So, again, I'm
  701. 23:58just going to view and then choosing the
  702. 24:00canvas. So, this one's actually on
  703. 24:01detail [music] canvas. I can set these
  704. 24:03to a certain scale.
  705. 24:05And again, [music] I can just
  706. 24:08copy that view. Yeah, think about it
  707. 24:10like a viewport and then scroll [music]
  708. 24:11across.
  709. 24:12Exactly the same as the last one.
  710. 24:17All very quick, all very simple, getting
  711. 24:18a few sheets together. And then, if we
  712. 24:20wanted to add annotations or text,
  713. 24:23>> [music]
  714. 24:23>> we can do that very simply. So,
  715. 24:25um let's call this landscape
  716. 24:27master plan. [music] I can go into that
  717. 24:29text. Yeah, again, I can set a style.
  718. 24:31So, I can choose a size, I can choose a
  719. 24:33color, I can choose a font. And again, I
  720. 24:35can save that as title style, for
  721. 24:38example, and then wherever I use that,
  722. 24:40that style will
  723. 24:42stay consistent. Perfect. Now, if you're
  724. 24:44working as a team, you should know that
  725. 24:46you can work together in real time in
  726. 24:48Rayon. Here's how you can invite your
  727. 24:49teammates to your drawings.
  728. 24:51>> [music]
  729. 24:51>> Okay, with those drawings completed, I
  730. 24:54can do a couple of things with them. So,
  731. 24:55the first one I showed you is the
  732. 24:57inviting your teammates. So, access, you
  733. 25:00can invite um people to access your
  734. 25:03drawing so they can come in and they can
  735. 25:04edit it. So, that's with an editor or I
  736. 25:07can send it to them as a viewer.
  737. 25:09>> [music]
  738. 25:09>> So, I could add in
  739. 25:11my other email address, for example.
  740. 25:14Invite, that will then send an email to
  741. 25:16me. And that allows me to come in and
  742. 25:19comment on the drawing. So, I'm able to
  743. 25:22look at it. I'm able to take
  744. 25:23measurements. I'm able to add
  745. 25:26>> [music]
  746. 25:26>> notes to the drawing. Um and I'm also
  747. 25:28allowed to add annotations. So, I can
  748. 25:30start sketching over. All of that stays
  749. 25:32within Rayon and lives within the
  750. 25:34comments tab, which live over here. So,
  751. 25:36uh comment, I can click on a certain
  752. 25:38area, for example, write a comment and
  753. 25:40say um actually, change this
  754. 25:46material [music]
  755. 25:47to
  756. 25:49porcelain. Let's post. And now my team
  757. 25:52can see that. And I will also have a
  758. 25:54record of who it was from, when it was
  759. 25:56sent. [music] And so, everything stays
  760. 25:57within Rayon, which is perfect. Another
  761. 25:59game changer is sharing your
  762. 26:01presentations as a URL link instead of
  763. 26:03emailing them as a PDF.
  764. 26:05Here's how. Now, with the drawing
  765. 26:06complete, the traditional thing would be
  766. 26:08to export as a PDF. So, if I wanted to
  767. 26:10do that, I would just need to go over to
  768. 26:12menu, go to export, and then PDF. And I
  769. 26:14can do all of those drawings or I can
  770. 26:16select a certain um page.
  771. 26:19I would then give it a title, select the
  772. 26:21format, so PDF or PNG, select the
  773. 26:23quality, and then decide on the stroke
  774. 26:25scale. Like I can do that, but it's not
  775. 26:27the most efficient way to do things. The
  776. 26:29best way in Rayon to do things is to
  777. 26:31share the presentation. And there's a
  778. 26:33really powerful feature which I love. We
  779. 26:35could go to share and we can go to
  780. 26:37presentation. And this ultimately
  781. 26:39creates a link. So, just like you would
  782. 26:41have a PDF, you'd upload it to a file
  783. 26:43transfer website, send the link, and
  784. 26:45then get your clients to download it
  785. 26:46from the file transfer website. This
  786. 26:48does all of that in one click. So, it
  787. 26:50will publish the presentation. So, I'll
  788. 26:52just click that little toggle there and
  789. 26:53it [music] gives me a link. So, I can
  790. 26:55copy that or I can open it and let's
  791. 26:57take a look.
  792. 26:58So, you can see here there's my drawings
  793. 27:01all looking great on our sheets. I can
  794. 27:03scroll through those. Got our master
  795. 27:05plan with the watercolor finish with our
  796. 27:07material ideas and then our details with
  797. 27:11our technical sections. All of that
  798. 27:13sitting on this URL link.
  799. 27:15The really, really great thing is say
  800. 27:17for example, you know, I did go in and I
  801. 27:20got rid of that material because my boss
  802. 27:22didn't like it. And I go, all right, now
  803. 27:24I need to update the presentation and
  804. 27:25resend it to the client. Well, if we go
  805. 27:27to share again, Rayon will see that that
  806. 27:30that presentation has needs to be
  807. 27:32updated. So, it will give you that
  808. 27:33little update symbol. Once you click it,
  809. 27:35that then gets published to that same
  810. 27:38URL. So, it's not a different link. So,
  811. 27:40the client doesn't need to have hundreds
  812. 27:42of different link to try and keep up
  813. 27:43with it. It's that same link and it's
  814. 27:45just been updated. So, let's check that
  815. 27:47now. So, you can see here
  816. 27:48that's now been updated. So, everything
  817. 27:51stays up-to-date because you've kept it
  818. 27:53within Rayon. Perfect. And that's the
  819. 27:55complete workflow from importing a
  820. 27:57technical DWG to delivering a rich,
  821. 27:59stylized landscape presentation that
  822. 28:01clearly communicates your design intent.
