  1. 0:00hey guys it's Sol in this video I'm
  2. 0:01going to show you how to set up Jesse on
  3. 0:03a brand new untu machine now we already
  4. 0:05supported the docker setup but that
  5. 0:07won't give you the maximum speed however
  6. 0:09a setup like this is going to take
  7. 0:11advantage of the most resources that
  8. 0:13your machine has which could be really
  9. 0:14handy when you're doing back test or
  10. 0:16running an optimization session now it's
  11. 0:17important to note that if you are going
  12. 0:19to set up Jesse on a VPS for doing live
  13. 0:22trading in production then I highly
  14. 0:24recommend actually going with the docker
  15. 0:25setup because that one is much easier to
  16. 0:27maintain and the extra speed that I'm
  17. 0:29talking about native installation in
  18. 0:31this video can't really be felt in a
  19. 0:33live trading session so with that out of
  20. 0:35the way let's get right into the video
  21. 0:36all right first we're going to have to
  22. 0:37install python itself however instead of
  23. 0:39installing python directly I'm going to
  24. 0:41use this tool called miniconda which is
  25. 0:43really great for doing research because
  26. 0:45it gives us isolated environments which
  27. 0:47are similar to python environments but
  28. 0:49way better and more isolated it also
  29. 0:51allows us to select the python version
  30. 0:53that you want to use which is really
  31. 0:54handy because let's say you want to use
  32. 0:56one python version for Jesse and another
  33. 0:58library that you want to use I simply
  34. 0:59Google will download minondo so let's
  35. 1:01open it all right go to this URL skip
  36. 1:04registration now this one is for
  37. 1:06Anaconda which will give us some
  38. 1:08graphical user interface which isn't
  39. 1:10what I need so I will scroll down to get
  40. 1:12to the miniconda installer now from here
  41. 1:14you need to choose the correct installer
  42. 1:16for your machine now most of you guys
  43. 1:18are running an x86 machine so you need
  44. 1:20to download this one but in my case I
  45. 1:22had to download the arm version because
  46. 1:24I'm running my auntu through the
  47. 1:26virtualization on a Mac machine it's
  48. 1:28also important to note that if you're
  49. 1:30machine is arm at the moment of
  50. 1:31recording this video you can set up
  51. 1:33Jessi on it at least for doing research
  52. 1:35but we don't officially support it so if
  53. 1:37you are getting a machine or if you are
  54. 1:39setting up a server or whatever I highly
  55. 1:41recommend going with the x86 version now
  56. 1:43I already downloaded it so I'm just
  57. 1:45going to CD into the directory that I
  58. 1:47have it so firstly open a terminal all
  59. 1:49right so I'm going to run CD and then
  60. 1:51PWD cuz I want to see where I am all
  61. 1:54right the ls right now C into the
  62. 1:58downloads folder
  63. 2:01and there is the file that I downloaded
  64. 2:04now to run this I'm going to Simply say
  65. 2:07bash and then
  66. 2:10miniconda let's press
  67. 2:13enter let's scroll
  68. 2:23down WR
  69. 2:25yes it says press enter to confirm the
  70. 2:27location
  71. 2:32all right so I'm getting this error
  72. 2:33because I ran this before so it says I
  73. 2:35need to add the dasu option to
  74. 2:48update all
  75. 2:50right all right so now it's it's asking
  76. 2:53me if I want to update my shell profile
  77. 2:56to automatically initial cond and I do
  78. 2:58want that so I'm going to write yes all
  79. 2:59right just to be sure let's open a new
  80. 3:01terminal Tab and I'm going to run the
  81. 3:03cond command here and it still
  82. 3:05recognizes it which is a good sign now
  83. 3:07we need to create our very first
  84. 3:09environment for Jesse to do that I'm
  85. 3:11going to say cond create D- name and I'm
  86. 3:14going to give it a name such as Jesse
  87. 3:17this could be anything by the way and
  88. 3:18then I'm going to pass the python
  89. 3:20version to be
  90. 3:232.12 all right so it's asking for
  91. 3:25confirmation press
  92. 3:27enter now we're going to have to wait to
  93. 3:29download the python version that we
  94. 3:30asked for all right we're done now to
  95. 3:32activate our environment all we need to
  96. 3:34do is to say cond activate Jess now
  97. 3:38before I press enter notice that in here
  98. 3:40it's saying base but after I press enter
  99. 3:44it says Jesse and that's how I know that
  100. 3:46my environment have been activated and
  101. 3:48if I run let's say pip D-
  102. 3:52version I can see the name of the
  103. 3:55environment which is Jesse all right now
  104. 3:57that we have python we can install Jesse
  105. 3:59itself all right so so to install Jesse
  106. 4:00itself all I need to say is PIP
  107. 4:04install
  108. 4:08Jessie all right now Jessi itself is
  109. 4:11installed and we can even go and create
  110. 4:13the J Project so for that I'm going to
  111. 4:15go to my home directory and let's see
  112. 4:18what I have here okay and to create a
  113. 4:21Jess project I need to fetch it from
  114. 4:23GitHub so let's open our documentation
  115. 4:30and go to the installation page to
  116. 4:32create a new Jess project I'm going to
  117. 4:34copy this line here open my terminal and
  118. 4:37paste the command
  119. 4:39here now this will fetch a project and
  120. 4:42name it my bot and you could rename this
  121. 4:44to whatever you want by the way now I'm
  122. 4:46going to go into my
  123. 4:49bot all right next I will create an
  124. 4:52environment file by copying it from the
  125. 4:55example file so I'm going to say cp.
  126. 4:58example and then MV all right now let's
  127. 5:01open the project file now to do that
  128. 5:03you're going to need a code editor I
  129. 5:04already downloaded vs code which is
  130. 5:07completely free and open source and
  131. 5:09really good option for this all right so
  132. 5:11I'm going to go to Open folder and I
  133. 5:14will select my project and press
  134. 5:17open I will say yes I trust this project
  135. 5:21and here's the file now here you can see
  136. 5:23that we need a post scale database and
  137. 5:26also ready for a caching database so we
  138. 5:28also need to install these two for that
  139. 5:30I'm going to go back to our
  140. 5:31documentation I will go to the
  141. 5:33environment setup
  142. 5:35Ubuntu I will scroll down to come to the
  143. 5:39post SQL now let's copy this line open
  144. 5:43the terminal and paste it
  145. 5:45here this is asking for my password I
  146. 5:48will give it we'll say
  147. 5:52yes all right that is done now I need to
  148. 5:55copy these commands in order to create a
  149. 5:58database for JC and a user and assign
  150. 6:01that user to that table all right next I
  151. 6:03need to copy these lines one by one and
  152. 6:05paste it into the terminal to generate
  153. 6:07my first database table user and assign
  154. 6:10that user to that table now I'm going to
  155. 6:11Speed the video so that it won't Bor
  156. 6:14you all right now the database is ready
  157. 6:17and we can move on to install R so let's
  158. 6:19copy this
  159. 6:21command and paste it here sudo app get
  160. 6:24install ready
  161. 6:26server say yes
  162. 6:30all right now we don't need to generate
  163. 6:31like a table for radi and all the
  164. 6:33default values are fine all right so now
  165. 6:35we're ready to run Jesse but before I do
  166. 6:37that I will go to the visual studio code
  167. 6:40and you see this value here by as it
  168. 6:43says in the comment by default this is
  169. 6:45set to work with the docker installation
  170. 6:47but we are running things natively so I
  171. 6:49need to comment this line and comment
  172. 6:52out this other line which sets the post
  173. 6:54host into Local Host and I also need to
  174. 6:58do the same for red now by the way if
  175. 7:00you own a premium account and you want
  176. 7:02to log in so that the premium features
  177. 7:04would show up you also need to generate
  178. 7:06an API key from this address on our
  179. 7:08website and paste that value here also
  180. 7:11the password that you set here is the
  181. 7:13one used inside the dashboard so that's
  182. 7:14also important we can change the default
  183. 7:17Port if you need to but I'm not going to
  184. 7:19all right so let's go to the terminal
  185. 7:21and while I'm inside my Jess project so
  186. 7:24see this is the directory of my Jess
  187. 7:27project and these are the files inside
  188. 7:29it so while I'm here and while this cond
  189. 7:32environment is selected so this is also
  190. 7:35really important so if you don't see the
  191. 7:36name of the environment here you need to
  192. 7:39activate it again by running cond
  193. 7:41activate and then the name of the
  194. 7:43environment which in our case was Jesse
  195. 7:45but I don't need to do that because it
  196. 7:46is already activated while this is the
  197. 7:48case simply run Jesse
  198. 7:51run and that's it now we need to open
  199. 7:54this address in order to open the
  200. 7:56dashboard so let's go to the browser and
  201. 7:58say local
  202. 8:00host 9,000 it's asking for a password
  203. 8:03which as I mentioned by default is
  204. 8:06test all right we're in now let's go to
  205. 8:09the import candles page increase this
  206. 8:12and see if it can import successfully
  207. 8:15and there we go it
  208. 8:17can all right so we're done now but I'm
  209. 8:20going to show you one more tip which
  210. 8:22will be really helpful when you're doing
  211. 8:24research so in the vs code if I go to
  212. 8:27the strategies folder and open an
  213. 8:30example strategy and try to write my
  214. 8:33first code let's say ta dot you will see
  215. 8:36I don't get autocomplete here because my
  216. 8:39code editor doesn't know about my python
  217. 8:41installation or Jess installation and I
  218. 8:44want that now the vs code itself is
  219. 8:45actually recommending to me to install
  220. 8:47the python extension and that's what we
  221. 8:49need but in case you don't see this
  222. 8:51that's fine just simply go to the
  223. 8:53extensions here and search the word
  224. 8:55python all right so this first one which
  225. 8:57is published by Microsoft is the one we
  226. 8:59want click
  227. 9:00install all right now that it is done if
  228. 9:03I go back to my strategy again and and
  229. 9:05remove this and press the dot one more
  230. 9:07time still I don't get anything now this
  231. 9:10time though the reason is yes the vs
  232. 9:12code does recognize python now but it
  233. 9:14doesn't recognize the cond environment
  234. 9:16that we installed Jesse package in it so
  235. 9:19for that we need to go to
  236. 9:22here and select the Jesse environment
  237. 9:26all right now if I remove this one more
  238. 9:28time and press the dot button I can see
  239. 9:30the complete list of the indicators that
  240. 9:32Jesse offers so for example I can just
  241. 9:35select Ballinger bands not only that if
  242. 9:38I write a parenthesis you can see I will
  243. 9:41get the accepted parameters of this
  244. 9:44function which is really helpful because
  245. 9:45I don't have to open the documentation
  246. 9:47all the time to see which parameters
  247. 9:49this function accepts all right that's
  248. 9:50it now of course you could install all
  249. 9:52types of plugins on your vs code which
  250. 9:54will make things easier for example I
  251. 9:56really recommend installing GitHub
  252. 9:59co-pilot which at this point offers even
  253. 10:01a generous free plan and it could make
  254. 10:03your research posessions much faster all
  255. 10:06right that's it guys I hope you guys
  256. 10:07enjoyed this video thanks for watching
  257. 10:09and I'll see you in the next one
  258. 10:17[Music]
