  3. 0:11choice support video in this video we'll
  4. 0:13demonstrate how to set up and take a
  5. 0:14simple measurement using the wiley 500
  6. 0:17hey moisture meter
  7. 0:19first a quick overview of the meter
  8. 0:23the wiley 500 features a durable pointed
  9. 0:26temperature and moisture sensor
  10. 0:31a large lcd screen with the keypad below
  11. 0:33this has five buttons these are the
  12. 0:36power and main menu button up and down
  13. 0:38select the keys
  14. 0:39select use this to enter and switch
  15. 0:42between temperature and moisture
  16. 0:43measurements
  17. 0:44and play this is to start a moisture
  18. 0:46measurement
  19. 0:49on the side there's a usb port
  20. 0:57and last of all the battery compartment
  21. 0:58is on the bottom of the handle
  22. 1:02to get started install the included
  23. 1:03battery into the battery compartment
  24. 1:07push the battery inwards and downwards
  25. 1:09to lock it into place
  26. 1:13replace the battery compartment door
  27. 1:19press the power key to switch on the
  28. 1:20unit
  29. 1:25the main screen of the meter displays a
  30. 1:26wealth of information including the bale
  31. 1:29number and bail type
  32. 1:33the measured moisture value this will
  33. 1:35show three dashes if no measurement has
  34. 1:37been taken or less than eight percent if
  35. 1:39too dry and over eighty percent if the
  36. 1:41sample is too wet
  37. 1:42the ic number below is the bale
  38. 1:44temperature is used for temperature
  39. 1:45compensation this is not the current
  40. 1:47probe temperature
  41. 1:48if you have entered a moisture offset it
  42. 1:50will appear here
  43. 1:52this area of the screen will display the
  44. 1:53average value the estimate of the
  45. 1:55highest moisture level in the bale and
  46. 1:57the end number will depict the number of
  47. 1:59measurements used in the average and the
  48. 2:00highest moisture level estimate
  49. 2:03and there's four navigation buttons
  50. 2:04along the bottom we'll run through each
  51. 2:06of these shortly
  52. 2:09first the button on the right allows you
  53. 2:10to choose between temperature or
  54. 2:12moisture measurement mode
  55. 2:13similar to moisture measurement mode the
  56. 2:15temperature screen shows the bail number
  57. 2:16and bale type the latest temperature
  58. 2:18measurement the three dashes will again
  59. 2:20appear if no measurements have been
  60. 2:21taken
  61. 2:22and to the right the minimum maximum and
  62. 2:24memory values will appear
  63. 2:27minimum is the lowest temperature stored
  64. 2:29in memory the maximum is the highest
  65. 2:30temperature stored in the memory and the
  66. 2:32mem value is the latest temperature
  67. 2:34stored in the memory just a note when
  68. 2:36starting moisture measurements this
  69. 2:37value may be chosen to be used as bail
  70. 2:39temperature for temperature compensation
  71. 2:42next we'll run through the main menu
  72. 2:43press the menu button on the left
  73. 2:46the first three options on the main menu
  74. 2:48are data clear options use the up and
  75. 2:50down arrows to adjust selections and
  76. 2:51press enter to confirm data clearing
  77. 2:54choose to clear the average and high
  78. 2:56moisture values clear bail this clears
  79. 2:58the bale type of the currently selected
  80. 2:59bail and erases all measurement results
  81. 3:01stored for this bail or select clear all
  82. 3:04this clears the entire measurement
  83. 3:06memory including all temperature
  84. 3:07moisture and bale type selections
  85. 3:09pressing the down arrow moves on to the
  86. 3:11next screen of the main menu
  87. 3:15the first option here is moisture offset
  88. 3:17the moisture display can be adjusted to
  89. 3:19match an oven test or other reference
  90. 3:21method using this setting once set an
  91. 3:23offset correction will be applied to all
  92. 3:25moisture measurements of the same type
  93. 3:27including results already saved in the
  94. 3:28memory use the arrow keys to adjust the
  95. 3:30offset and confirm by pressing the enter
  96. 3:32key
  97. 3:35a save symbol will appear on the screen
  98. 3:41the next option is to manually adjust
  99. 3:42temperature compensation here you can
  100. 3:44set the bale temperature for use in
  101. 3:45temperature compensation of moisture
  102. 3:47management you can choose to manually
  103. 3:48set it or choose to have it based off a
  104. 3:50measurement
  105. 3:51to use either historical or live
  106. 3:53temperature values make no changes here
  107. 4:00next option is settings pressing enter
  108. 4:02here opens an additional settings
  109. 4:03submenu the first option is language
  110. 4:06press enter to view the language options
  111. 4:08next is units press the enter key to
  112. 4:10cycle between celsius and fahrenheit
  113. 4:13the third option is auto off press enter
  114. 4:15to cycle through the automatic power off
  115. 4:16time adjustment
  116. 4:21the fourth option is average high number
  117. 4:23this is the number of moisture results
  118. 4:25used in the calculation of the displayed
  119. 4:27average and high moisture estimate press
  120. 4:29enter to cycle through the options
  121. 4:36next is backlight press enter to switch
  122. 4:38the backlight on or off
  123. 4:43next is display contrast press enter to
  124. 4:45select then use the up and down arrow
  125. 4:47keys to turn the contrast up or down
  126. 4:53press enter to confirm your selection
  127. 4:59pressing down again the next option is
  128. 5:01to display the remaining battery
  129. 5:02capacity
  130. 5:05next is calibration here you can perform
  131. 5:07a quick calibration of moisture
  132. 5:08measurement it's recommended that you
  133. 5:10perform this after storage of your meter
  134. 5:12and it is highly important for the
  135. 5:13measurement of dryer bales
  136. 5:15to calibrate verify that the probe is
  137. 5:17clean and dry
  138. 5:18hold the tester so that the entire probe
  139. 5:20is surrounded by only clean dry air with
  140. 5:22no objects closer than 30 centimeters to
  141. 5:24the probe in all directions
  142. 5:27start the calibration by pressing enter
  143. 5:29and calibration will automatically be
  144. 5:30performed
  145. 5:34returning to the settings submenu after
  146. 5:35calibration the last selection is device
  147. 5:38information this lists serial and
  148. 5:40manufacturing information
  149. 5:48back on the main screen use the up and
  150. 5:49down selector keys to browse the list
  151. 5:53the first few bails have pre-selected
  152. 5:55bail types for ease of use
  153. 5:58when you wish to start a new bail select
  154. 5:59a bale whose type matches your veil or
  155. 6:01one that has no type chosen yet this
  156. 6:03will be listed with three dashes
  157. 6:05otherwise clear an existing bail as
  158. 6:06described in the setup menu
  159. 6:08press enter to select the bail that you
  160. 6:10wish to use
  161. 6:12before taking your measurement you'll
  162. 6:13need to set or manually enter the
  163. 6:15temperature for temperature compensation
  164. 6:18to manually enter a temperature return
  165. 6:20to the settings menu
  166. 6:21you can also choose to use the latest
  167. 6:23temperature value stored or a
  168. 6:24temperature value used previously for
  169. 6:26temperature compensation these two
  170. 6:28options will only be shown if available
  171. 6:30or you can measure the bale's
  172. 6:31temperature on the spot to do this
  173. 6:33insert the probe into the bale let it
  174. 6:35acclimatize then press the play button
  175. 6:37when on the temperature measurement
  176. 6:38screen to take a temperature measurement
  177. 6:40press a small save icon to save the
  178. 6:42reading to the device's memory
  179. 6:47then press back to return
  180. 6:49once bail type and the temperature units
  181. 6:51are set and measured you can take a
  182. 6:53moisture measurement
  183. 6:58press the button on the right to move
  184. 6:59into the moisture measurement mode then
  185. 7:01press play to take a measurement
  186. 7:03the meter will ask you to push the probe
  187. 7:05into the bale push into the hay bale at
  188. 7:07least 15 centimeters after the push has
  189. 7:09stopped the device will begin to measure
  190. 7:11moisture
  191. 7:12just a note if the required push force
  192. 7:14is low the push may not be detected in
  193. 7:16this case you can force the device to
  194. 7:18take a measurement by pressing the play
  195. 7:19key again
  196. 7:21shortly after the resulting measurement
  197. 7:23will display if your measurement is
  198. 7:24within range you can store the
  199. 7:26measurement by pressing the save icon
