How to Save 2 Rotations During F2L — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00hey guys today we're talking about this
- 0:01f2l case where the edge that goes with
- 0:03it is back here and flipped how a lot of
- 0:05people do this case is by rotating and
- 0:07then pairing them up intuitively and
- 0:09then rotating again and inserting today
- 0:11i'll show you how to do this case from
- 0:13any angle without a rotation the first
- 0:15intuitive thing to understand about this
- 0:17is that when we have this case if you
- 0:19are to move the edge so that the corner
- 0:22is then pointing at it like this then
- 0:23you do have a setup case and then you
- 0:25can insert and then afterwards you do
- 0:27have to restore that cross head from
- 0:28that one move in the beginning so for
- 0:30some of the inserts we will be doing
- 0:31that but you have to make sure you do
- 0:32the finger tricks well because the
- 0:34finger tricks for this are not very good
- 0:35it's only faster if you know good finger
- 0:37tricks for it at any time if you want to
- 0:39go look at the finger tricks tutorial to
- 0:40know what you should be able to do then
- 0:42go check that out so starting off with
- 0:43the corner here we just want the edge up
- 0:45here so we're going to do b prime with a
- 0:46re-grip first like that and then insert
- 0:49and then reverse the b like that so of
- 0:52course make sure you can do that reverse
- 0:54b move otherwise there's really no good
- 0:55way of doing the b move and faster would
- 0:57be like this
- 0:59now for this case again same moves but
- 1:01different finger tricks so for this case
- 1:02after you do this either set up and
- 1:04we're going to insert like this and make
- 1:05sure you don't do u here because that
- 1:07requires a re-grip make sure you do u
- 1:09with your left hand like this now here
- 1:11we have to figure out a way to do f
- 1:12prime and there are a few ways that the
- 1:14ones that don't work is this it does
- 1:16work but it's not going to be fast
- 1:18because we've just finished doing a u
- 1:19push here the other way we could do it
- 1:21is like this although i don't personally
- 1:23like it because after this you have to
- 1:26find your finger in the right spot here
- 1:27and there's no time to set it up it's
- 1:29really easy to make a mistake here then
- 1:30another way is f prime with your thumb
- 1:32here this is pretty good and then
- 1:33another way is f prime like this
- 1:36and if that looks weird it's the same
- 1:37thing as this one-handed turn and faster
- 1:39it would look like this
- 1:42now from this angle um here later i'm
- 1:44going to suggest a different way of
- 1:45doing this but for now i'm just going to
- 1:46follow the same rules we're using and
- 1:48that is by setting up with f prime first
- 1:50now we don't want to do f prime with our
- 1:51right thumb because then it's not really
- 1:54a good position to be doing you
- 1:55afterwards considering where your thumb
- 1:57and where your index finger are in order
- 1:58to do that move so if you put your left
- 2:00pinky underneath the s slice then you
- 2:01can use your index finger here or you
- 2:03can use your left thumb like this and
- 2:05then very straightforward just insert
- 2:07these and then afterwards either left
- 2:09thumb to finish or preferably if you're
- 2:11right-handed and prefer not to use that
- 2:13move then you can use your right hand
- 2:15make sure your pinky is underneath the s
- 2:16slice and do the same thing there and
- 2:18then that will look like this
- 2:21now from the final angle from right here
- 2:23we're going to do this to set them up
- 2:25and then now we need a b move and again
- 2:27it's not a very nice spot to be doing a
- 2:29b move uh so we're not going to regrip
- 2:30and do b like that we're just going to
- 2:32use our left hand and push back right
- 2:34here or push right here but pushing back
- 2:36right here is probably going to be
- 2:37easier
- 2:38and then afterwards just u
- 2:40b prime
- 2:42l
- 2:42so again faster would be like this
- 2:46so now when the corners oriented the
- 2:47other way i'll quickly run through the
- 2:48finger tricks for these they're exactly
- 2:50the same but with the other hand so
- 2:51starting with the first case like this
- 2:52again
- 2:55and then from this angle
- 2:58make sure you do this reverse push
- 3:01and then from this angle
- 3:05make sure your pinkies are underneath
- 3:06the s slice when you do those f moves
- 3:08and then from this angle
- 3:12so remember there are eight cases and
- 3:14i'll be showing alternatives for just a
- 3:15few of them so firstly for this one
- 3:17where it's the regrip into b moves and
- 3:19this one if you have it uh so that
- 3:20you're doing a lefty regrip then a lot
- 3:22of people don't like that so one thing
- 3:24you could do which you may be able to
- 3:25figure out intuitively from my other
- 3:27video on a very similar cases is you can
- 3:29do this and that does set them up here
- 3:31then you can just insert but i don't
- 3:34find that to be reliable switching hands
- 3:35and doing wide moves so a good
- 3:36alternative you have that is right hand
- 3:38dominant is if you do f first either
- 3:40like this or with the pinky thing and
- 3:43then move this corner on top bring this
- 3:45pair over and that has to be done
- 3:47without a re-grip like this and then
- 3:50yeah so this algorithm done faster
- 3:54so next i'll be showing an alternative
- 3:55for this case and its mirror and the
- 3:57reason is because when you have to do
- 3:59these f moves which are a little bit
- 4:01unreliable if you're not good at them
- 4:02like me i think if you're good at them
- 4:04it's probably fine but having to use
- 4:06both of them in the same algorithm i
- 4:07think is a little unreliable so what i
- 4:09like to do for this case and its mirror
- 4:10is if you're right-handed you probably
- 4:12should know how to do this finger trick
- 4:14then you have them set up as well and
- 4:16you can end with your thumb going the
- 4:17other way because your dominant hand
- 4:19thumb should be able to do both of these
- 4:21moves so the alternative trick for this
- 4:23case faster
- 4:23[Applause]
- 4:25so next for the mirror case if your
- 4:28other hand is not really capable of
- 4:30doing that like because i'm dominant
- 4:32lefty so i can do it then what you can
- 4:33do is you can still avoid all these
- 4:35moves by doing a sledgehammer with your
- 4:37right hand to take this edge out over to
- 4:38here so it's kind of the same thing as
- 4:40accomplishing f prime except it
- 4:42preserves the cross edge so sledgehammer
- 4:44like this
- 4:45and then that sets it up
- 4:47and the alternative trick for this case
- 4:49faster
- 4:50so that about covers it and now you have
- 4:52no excuse for doing this f2l case in two
- 4:55rotations that feels really bad now so
- 4:57if for some reason you're watching this
- 4:59and you haven't learned f2l or advanced
- 5:00f2l then check those out on the end
- 5:02screen also remember to learn the good
- 5:04finger tricks for these otherwise these
- 5:05are not worth using and you might as
- 5:07well do two rotations or just either way
- 5:08is bad and learn the finger tricks
- 5:10because the earlier you learn them the
- 5:12better it will be later on thanks for
- 5:13watching and i'll see you guys next time
