  1. 0:00So I just watched this YouTube video
  2. 0:01where this guy spent four hours with
  3. 0:03Claude Code over a weekend. He used that
  4. 0:05to build a website for his friend's
  5. 0:07diesel mechanic business. Now, 24 hours
  6. 0:09later, the phone started ringing.
  7. 0:11Thousands of dollars in real jobs. The
  8. 0:13video has a lot of views and the
  9. 0:16comments are full of people saying that
  10. 0:18local SEO agencies are basically dead
  11. 0:20and AI in a weekend is all you really
  12. 0:23need. Now, I've been running a local SEO
  13. 0:25agency for 10 years. I built an AI tool
  14. 0:28that does pretty much exactly what he's
  15. 0:30showing. So when I watch this video, I
  16. 0:32saw three things that he got right and
  17. 0:34at least three things that are going to
  18. 0:36catch up with him the moment he tries
  19. 0:38this in a real market that's actually
  20. 0:41competitive. Let's go ahead and dive in.
  21. 0:44>> Everyone wants to build GPT wrappers,
  22. 0:46micro SaaS. I get it. It's super super
  23. 0:50sexy. But there's a huge opportunity
  24. 0:53right now to be using AI for boring
  25. 0:55businesses.
  26. 0:57I brought on the boring marketer and he
  27. 0:59shares the story of how in less than 24
  28. 1:01hours he ranked one of his boring
  29. 1:03businesses on Google in the top three
  30. 1:06spots for multiple target keywords and
  31. 1:09made thousands of dollars. And Claude
  32. 1:12Code did 100% of the work. And this is
  33. 1:15an exact tutorial with how to make money
  34. 1:18for boring businesses with AI and he
  35. 1:21shares why he thinks that's where the
  36. 1:25money is. Enjoy the episode. We got the
  37. 1:27boring marketer on the pod.
  38. 1:30James, by the end of this podcast, what
  39. 1:32are people going to learn?
  40. 1:34>> So I kind of had a a revelation that,
  41. 1:37you know, everyone's building like
  42. 1:38agents and workflows and wrappers and
  43. 1:41SaaS tools, but I feel like everyone's
  44. 1:43ignoring like businesses in their
  45. 1:44backyard. So I want to talk about what I
  46. 1:46think's like a multi-billion-dollar
  47. 1:49arbitrage uh to build a local service
  48. 1:52business.
  49. 1:53>> Okay, so boring businesses in the AJA
  50. 1:55>> That's right. That's right.
  51. 1:57>> Okay.
  52. 1:58And then tactically, what are people
  53. 2:00going to learn here?
  54. 2:02>> Yeah. So, uh we were having a couple
  55. 2:04discussions on X, and some people chimed
  56. 2:06in with some replies. Uh one of the
  57. 2:09things that I'm astounded by is people
  58. 2:11still want to learn how to set up like
  59. 2:13their development environment with
  60. 2:14Claude Code. So,
  61. 2:16>> Yeah, so I know setting up Claude Code,
  62. 2:17especially for the first time, can be
  63. 2:19intimidating because it uses a terminal
  64. 2:21window. Now, the way I set it up the
  65. 2:23very first time was and this is kind of
  66. 2:26silly, but I basically went to Claude,
  67. 2:28and I told Claude that I wanted to use
  68. 2:30Claude Code, and it walked me through
  69. 2:32exactly what to do, exactly what to
  70. 2:34click, exactly what to type in, until I
  71. 2:36had Claude Code up and running. So,
  72. 2:38don't be
  73. 2:40afraid of it. Use Claude and the Claude
  74. 2:42Code window, you'll be able to get what
  75. 2:44you need. Uh you can talk to Claude, it
  76. 2:46can help you with prompting, it can help
  77. 2:48you solve any issues that you're seeing
  78. 2:50on Claude Code uh on the terminal
  79. 2:52window. Don't be afraid of it. I know
  80. 2:54it's intimidating, just dive in.
  81. 2:55>> the prompting to make sure you're set up
  82. 2:57the right way. Then we're going to talk
  83. 2:59about how I was able to build this
  84. 3:01website in just a couple hours and
  85. 3:03perfectly match up my Figma design
  86. 3:06files. A lot of people struggle with,
  87. 3:08you know, getting nice designs
  88. 3:10>> It's interesting here that he mentions
  89. 3:11Figma. Claude has actually released its
  90. 3:13own Claude Design. So, potentially this
  91. 3:15could even be easier now if you use
  92. 3:17Claude's design tool instead of Figma.
  93. 3:20As a side note, when Claude released its
  94. 3:22own design tool, the stock price for
  95. 3:24Figma dropped significantly.
  96. 3:26>> uh
  97. 3:27with their AI tools that don't feel like
  98. 3:29AI made it. So, we're going to go
  99. 3:31through that process, and then most
  100. 3:33importantly, we're going to talk about
  101. 3:35how I optimized this website uh for
  102. 3:38local search and actually started
  103. 3:40generating revenue within 24 hours of
  104. 3:43making updates to the site itself.
  105. 3:46>> Within 24 hours making thousands of
  106. 3:48dollars of revenue, which is insane.
  107. 3:50>> Yeah.
  108. 3:51>> So, I can't wait to to just see how you
  109. 3:53did it. Let's uh uh let's let's get into
  110. 3:56it.
  111. 3:56>> Cool. So, uh the story here
  112. 4:00um I have a lot of friends that have
  113. 4:02boring businesses, you know, things that
  114. 4:04are outside of tech and startups and AI
  115. 4:07and stuff like that. And one of my
  116. 4:09friends has a small trucking company.
  117. 4:11So, he just ships goods from like, you
  118. 4:14know, Charleston to Charlotte and and
  119. 4:16back and forth and all that. And his
  120. 4:18truck uh is used it was breaking down
  121. 4:21and he kept running into these like
  122. 4:23mechanical problems. So, he found a
  123. 4:25local mechanic, started kind of building
  124. 4:27a relationship with him, and he thought,
  125. 4:29"Hey, maybe we should start a service
  126. 4:31that, you know, helps trucks get back on
  127. 4:33the road." And he came to me and he was
  128. 4:35like, "Hey, like, you know, I'm really
  129. 4:38good at operating and I've got, you
  130. 4:40know, the mechanic and I know this
  131. 4:41business, but I don't really know how to
  132. 4:44like get a website going, get the
  133. 4:46marketing going for it. Would you like
  134. 4:48to partner up on this?" And I was like,
  135. 4:50"You know, that sounds pretty
  136. 4:51interesting." And it rang a couple like
  137. 4:54bells in my mind for a few reasons. One
  138. 4:57reason being
  139. 4:58>> So, one thing to keep in mind, the space
  140. 5:00that he's talking about, uh diesel
  141. 5:02engine repair or similar keyword, this
  142. 5:05is not a very competitive space. Now,
  143. 5:08it's not ranking for snow removal Miami
  144. 5:11levels of low competition, but it's not
  145. 5:13trying to rank for plumber or air
  146. 5:15conditioning repair or personal injury
  147. 5:17attorney or any of the higher
  148. 5:18competitive spaces that actually do take
  149. 5:21a lot more effort to rank. But, I am
  150. 5:23interested to hear what he's actually
  151. 5:25going to do.
  152. 5:26>> All right, like this might sound a
  153. 5:28little bit crazy, but what if like we
  154. 5:30have like an AGI takeoff by 2030 or
  155. 5:34something like that, you know, and
  156. 5:36digital services and SaaS and all this
  157. 5:38stuff is like super super disrupted, you
  158. 5:42know? Um
  159. 5:43that that is a real possibility. So, I
  160. 5:45was like, "Okay, there might be a
  161. 5:46barbell strategy here to where you can
  162. 5:49kind of like hedge against that as like
  163. 5:51a multi-preneur as as you kind of coined
  164. 5:53the term, right? So, maybe on one side
  165. 5:56of the barbell, I've got, you know, my
  166. 5:58service businesses online, I've got my
  167. 5:59SaaS tools, I've got my community, and
  168. 6:02on the other side, I'm a partner in some
  169. 6:04like boring businesses that have a high
  170. 6:07degree of defensibility against being
  171. 6:09completely disrupted by AI. So, I don't
  172. 6:12think in the next 5 years there's going
  173. 6:14to be robots going down major highways
  174. 6:17coming to fix like, you know, heavy-duty
  175. 6:20tractor-trailers and and stuff like
  176. 6:22that. So, I think that has some staying
  177. 6:24power.
  178. 6:25>> It is interesting. I recently saw an
  179. 6:26interview with Dario Amodei, the CEO of
  180. 6:28Anthropic, and he said not 5 years, but
  181. 6:31probably 10. A big enabler of robotics
  182. 6:33are advanced AI models that make it
  183. 6:35easier for the robots to learn how to
  184. 6:38move, how to do things, how to interact
  185. 6:40with actual real physical objects. Uh
  186. 6:43so, that's a side.
  187. 6:45>> power, and that's going to be a
  188. 6:46continued need for some time. So, I got
  189. 6:49thinking about that, and I was like
  190. 6:51super interested to to get into it.
  191. 6:53>> Cool. Yeah, let's let's let's let's see
  192. 6:56what uh what you did.
  193. 6:57>> All right, cool. So, I'll I'll do a
  194. 6:59quick tour around the website real quick
  195. 7:01and just kind of show you the structure
  196. 7:03and what I was able to do. So, you know,
  197. 7:05you have kind of like your basic home
  198. 7:07page. Uh we've got some nice little like
  199. 7:09illustrations and things like that.
  200. 7:11We've got like, you know, a bunch of
  201. 7:13clickable items that take you into like
  202. 7:14individual services and all of that
  203. 7:17stuff. Uh we've got all these different
  204. 7:19location pages, and uh you know, we have
  205. 7:22some other like SEO optimizations on the
  206. 7:24website, uh like all these handy
  207. 7:26internal links and stuff like that. So,
  208. 7:29if you look at
  209. 7:31uh some of these pages,
  210. 7:33uh I have like a huge amount of detail
  211. 7:36on all of these about each individual
  212. 7:38location. I've got like landmarks and,
  213. 7:41you know, unique information about these
  214. 7:43locations that
  215. 7:45we can service and and things along
  216. 7:47those lines.
  217. 7:48Now, an SEO agency or a digital
  218. 7:51>> So, essentially what he's showing is a
  219. 7:54more a slightly more advanced version of
  220. 7:57what we used to call city pages, where
  221. 7:59you basically just write your target
  222. 8:01keyword in city name, and then you spam
  223. 8:05over and over and over and over again.
  224. 8:08Now, back in the pre-AI days, right,
  225. 8:112022 or earlier, the easiest way to do
  226. 8:15this would be to create all these city
  227. 8:16pages and then find replace the city
  228. 8:17name. Google typically doesn't view it
  229. 8:20as duplicate content with a city name
  230. 8:22being different, so you could get away
  231. 8:24with that. Today, not only does this
  232. 8:27city gate page strategy not really work
  233. 8:30anymore in more competitive spaces,
  234. 8:33Google rolled out an update in August of
  235. 8:35'25 that actually considers a lot of
  236. 8:38these city gate type pages to be spam.
  237. 8:41A lot of websites that were relying on
  238. 8:43this saw their traffic essentially
  239. 8:45evaporate overnight. Location pages do
  240. 8:49matter, right? We generate them at my
  241. 8:51agency all the time, but what he's
  242. 8:53talking about, you know, generating 50
  243. 8:55city pages with local landmarks, that
  244. 8:58doesn't serve geo-relevance. It
  245. 9:00basically serves, I don't know what to
  246. 9:02call it, like geo-trivia.
  247. 9:05So, instead, the approach that we take
  248. 9:08is we're going to look at a local rank
  249. 9:10map. So, this is an example of what I
  250. 9:11mean by a local rank map. So, the reason
  251. 9:13this is so important is each one of
  252. 9:16these dots represents what your rank
  253. 9:18position is on Google Maps when someone
  254. 9:21searches for your target keyword in that
  255. 9:23location, right? So, somebody searches
  256. 9:25right here, you're in position one.
  257. 9:27Somebody searches over here, you're in
  258. 9:28position seven. Now, this is very
  259. 9:30important because a major rank factor
  260. 9:32for Google Maps is proximity. So, when
  261. 9:35we're looking at this, when we're trying
  262. 9:37to build geo-relevance, we want to make
  263. 9:39sure we're building geographical
  264. 9:40relevance for the locations that are
  265. 9:42actually important. So, for this case,
  266. 9:45what we would do is we see a couple of
  267. 9:46fives near North Mountain Park. So, we
  268. 9:49would write content about how we do
  269. 9:51elder law attorney near North Mountain
  270. 9:54Park, and we talk about North Mountain
  271. 9:56Park. Then, we find some other spots to
  272. 9:59do the same: Saddle Rock Hills, Iron
  273. 10:02Ironwood Place, Villa de la Montana.
  274. 10:05Sure.
  275. 10:06Uh Upshot Desert Mountain Village, and
  276. 10:08we're looking for landmarks that are
  277. 10:10listed on Google Maps. Landmarks, parks,
  278. 10:13rivers, roads, neighborhoods. The reason
  279. 10:16it's important for them to be on Google
  280. 10:17Maps
  281. 10:18is because we want to make sure Google
  282. 10:20recognizes them. So, we look at Google
  283. 10:22Maps to make sure it's aligned with what
  284. 10:25Google sees. And that way, we are
  285. 10:27actually building geographical
  286. 10:28relevance. Now, I know what people
  287. 10:30watching this might say, "Well, hey, he
  288. 10:32showed he's ranking well, isn't that
  289. 10:34what counts?" Again, this is not a
  290. 10:36competitive search word, okay? This is
  291. 10:38not a competitive search entity. He
  292. 10:40almost certainly would have ranked had
  293. 10:42he not done any of these geo pages. I
  294. 10:45strongly believe these geo pages are not
  295. 10:48helping him rank even a little bit.
  296. 10:50>> An SEO agency or a digital marketing
  297. 10:53agency would charge you an arm and a leg
  298. 10:55to go and like build out a website,
  299. 10:57create 50-plus pages, optimize the
  300. 11:00entire thing so that it'll rank for uh
  301. 11:04the keywords that are relevant to your
  302. 11:05company.
  303. 11:06>> And he's Some of them will, and I'm not
  304. 11:08going to deny that. Some agencies will
  305. 11:09charge a huge amount of money for this
  306. 11:11work. But, a lot of the better agencies,
  307. 11:14my agency, some other agencies uh from
  308. 11:16friends of mine, our prices have
  309. 11:18actually gone down. It's deflationary.
  310. 11:21And the reason that they've gone down is
  311. 11:23because it just costs us so much less to
  312. 11:26serve clients. It costs us so much less
  313. 11:28to build the websites, to build the
  314. 11:30content, to optimize the content. We're
  315. 11:32doing it in a much more advanced way
  316. 11:34than letting Claude code do everything,
  317. 11:36but we are seeing a lot of deflationary
  318. 11:38pressure on SEO agencies. So, if you're
  319. 11:40still sitting there paying like 8,
  320. 11:4210,000 dollars a month for SEO,
  321. 11:45maybe evaluate your agency.
  322. 11:47>> Using Claude code, I was able to do all
  323. 11:49of this in a matter of hours. So,
  324. 11:51actually I did it over the weekend. It
  325. 11:53took me around 4 hours or so to get the
  326. 11:56site live, to do months worth of SEO
  327. 12:00work, and push it live. And as you
  328. 12:02mentioned,
  329. 12:03>> And again, I don't know what SEO work
  330. 12:05he's talking about as of yet, because so
  331. 12:07far I haven't actually seen any SEO work
  332. 12:09that he's done. He's basically built the
  333. 12:11website with a long list of landmarks in
  334. 12:14different cities.
  335. 12:15>> You mentioned at the beginning,
  336. 12:17you know, this actually started
  337. 12:18generating thousands of dollars of
  338. 12:20revenue yesterday. His phone started
  339. 12:22blowing up, and now the mechanic's
  340. 12:24basically fully booked up for the next
  341. 12:25few days. So, that's like real vibe
  342. 12:28marketing ROI,
  343. 12:31you know, just using Claude code, which
  344. 12:33I think is kind of mind-blowing.
  345. 12:34>> That is 100% correct. The a lot of the
  346. 12:37competition, especially in the local
  347. 12:39space, especially in non-major cities,
  348. 12:42and again, especially in non-competitive
  349. 12:44keywords, the competition just isn't
  350. 12:46there, right? And even if you're trying
  351. 12:48to rank a plumber, you're only competing
  352. 12:50with the other plumbers directly around
  353. 12:52you. You're not trying to compete with
  354. 12:54Amazon for SEO, right? So, the more
  355. 12:57businesses that aren't doing anything,
  356. 13:00but are ranking anyway, those become
  357. 13:02very easy to beat as you just basically
  358. 13:05start doing the bare essentials. But, as
  359. 13:09more and more businesses start to use
  360. 13:11AI, as more marketers start to use AI,
  361. 13:14and start to be able to offer compelling
  362. 13:16SEO solutions that actually work for a
  363. 13:19few hundred dollars a month, you very
  364. 13:21quickly end up in the in an arms race
  365. 13:23where these simple things just won't
  366. 13:25work anymore. But, we're not there yet.
  367. 13:27That's why I honestly think this is one
  368. 13:29of the best times to get into SEO
  369. 13:32because not all local businesses are
  370. 13:34using AI yet, which makes it easy to
  371. 13:36rank if you do use AI. But, you have to
  372. 13:39use AI in the right way.
  373. 13:41>> If you find kind of a boring niche in a
  374. 13:43local market, you're going up against
  375. 13:45people who haven't updated their website
  376. 13:47and 10 or 15 years perhaps. They're
  377. 13:49still operating off, you know, uh
  378. 13:51notepads and spreadsheets and stuff like
  379. 13:54that. So, there's a real opportunity for
  380. 13:56somebody that's AI savvy to use this
  381. 13:59playbook to partner with other
  382. 14:01businesses or other operators and, you
  383. 14:04know, develop something that makes real
  384. 14:06money pretty quickly. So, the first
  385. 14:08thing that I did was I took the Diesel
  386. 14:10Dudes website and I gave it to AI and I
  387. 14:13was like, "Hey, find me some keywords."
  388. 14:16And keywords are just like what people
  389. 14:18are searching for. I think everyone
  390. 14:19knows that.
  391. 14:20>> This is kind of a problem that he's
  392. 14:22talking about keywords here. Google
  393. 14:23doesn't use keywords anymore, right? So,
  394. 14:26when he says just ask AI what keywords
  395. 14:29to focus on, that's not how Google
  396. 14:31works. Google matches entities, not
  397. 14:34keywords. It hasn't matched keywords for
  398. 14:37years. Uh Google is looking at business
  399. 14:39type, service offerings, attributes,
  400. 14:41proximity mapped against GBP categories.
  401. 14:44Keywords are downstream artifacts.
  402. 14:46They're what people are typing into
  403. 14:48Google. That's not how Google works
  404. 14:50anymore. Again, an uncompetitive diesel
  405. 14:53repair niche in Charlotte? Sure, this
  406. 14:56can work. But, a plumber in Gary,
  407. 14:59Indiana, uh HVAC system in South
  408. 15:02Florida, you're going to get buried.
  409. 15:04This won't work.
  410. 15:05>> knows that despite what, uh you know, X
  411. 15:08might have you believe, SEO is not dead
  412. 15:11by any means on a local level. Actually,
  413. 15:13it's a huge opportunity right now.
  414. 15:15Um you know, if a trucker is broken down
  415. 15:17on the side of the
  416. 15:18>> I definitely agree with that. Local SEO
  417. 15:20is a massive opportunity.
  418. 15:21>> He's not opening up ChatGPT and saying,
  419. 15:24"Hey, like, you know, how do I fix my
  420. 15:26truck and like what local mechanics
  421. 15:28should I call up?" And sitting there and
  422. 15:30letting it do research. He's opening up
  423. 15:32Google, he's finding a review, he's
  424. 15:34clicking on the call button, and he's
  425. 15:36trying to get somebody there
  426. 15:37>> So, yes, agreed, but even if that
  427. 15:40trucker is opening ChatGPT,
  428. 15:43good local SEO will often result in you
  429. 15:47being found by AI systems and ChatGPT as
  430. 15:50well as Google Maps. Getting recommended
  431. 15:52by Google Ask or ChatGPT or Claude is a
  432. 15:57lot of the same things that you need to
  433. 15:59do to rank on Maps. So, it's not that
  434. 16:01we're trying to pit them against each
  435. 16:03other. You have to focus on Maps or you
  436. 16:05have to focus on ChatGPT. If you do the
  437. 16:07quality SEO work that will get you
  438. 16:10ranked on Google Maps, you're also
  439. 16:12likely going to get ranked on a lot of
  440. 16:14the AI systems with just a few
  441. 16:16additional things that the AI systems
  442. 16:18are specifically looking for that Google
  443. 16:20Maps might not be.
  444. 16:21>> And he's trying to get somebody there
  445. 16:22right away so he can get back on the
  446. 16:24road, you know?
  447. 16:25>> James, so he's not in Cursor, you know,
  448. 16:27tapping into the Perplexity MCP?
  449. 16:29>> No,
  450. 16:30>> [laughter]
  451. 16:30>> he's
  452. 16:31He doesn't have He's not popping open
  453. 16:34his development environment with Cursor,
  454. 16:37calling Perplexity MCP, and then using
  455. 16:40Claude code to build a plan to find the
  456. 16:43optimal mechanic for his make and model.
  457. 16:46>> Okay, understood.
  458. 16:47>> Yeah, just to clarify. So, but think
  459. 16:50about it like, you know, if you need
  460. 16:51your air conditioner repaired or like,
  461. 16:54you know, you have a broken window or
  462. 16:56something like that, like you're opening
  463. 16:57up Google, you're finding someone with
  464. 16:59good reviews, and you're giving them a
  465. 17:00call. Like, that's how like 99.9%
  466. 17:03of this stuff works, right? So, I wanted
  467. 17:06to find like what are those search terms
  468. 17:08that these folks are looking for. So,
  469. 17:11you know, keyword research,
  470. 17:13people can overcomplicate it. They're
  471. 17:15like, "Ooh, do I need this tool, and
  472. 17:17that tool, and like, you know, what
  473. 17:19variations and volume and all this stuff
  474. 17:22do I need to discover?" And oftentimes
  475. 17:24they get like analysis paralysis, you
  476. 17:26know? So, here's a way that you can like
  477. 17:28bypass all of that, and this is the Vibe
  478. 17:31Marketing way. So, open up ChatGPT-3
  479. 17:34or Claude or whatever, and just say,
  480. 17:36"Hey, here's my website, here's what I'm
  481. 17:38trying to do. Give me a list of like 25
  482. 17:41to 50 keywords that I can optimize my
  483. 17:44website around." That's all you need to
  484. 17:46do, really. Like, you know, for a local
  485. 17:48market especially, you don't need to
  486. 17:50worry about like all this different like
  487. 17:52volume and
  488. 17:54you know, keyword metrics and
  489. 17:56competition level.
  490. 17:57>> Yeah, so he's absolutely right here. We
  491. 17:58really don't use any keyword research
  492. 18:00tools at my agency because you really
  493. 18:02just don't need them for local SEO. The
  494. 18:05search volume is wrong, it's garbage,
  495. 18:07it's trash, it should be fully ignored
  496. 18:10on local SEO. And even beyond search
  497. 18:12volume, the primary keyword we're almost
  498. 18:15always going to target is the primary
  499. 18:17category of the Google Business Profile.
  500. 18:19Beyond that, we're looking at secondary
  501. 18:21categories and core services that we
  502. 18:23really really care about. The one tool
  503. 18:25that we use for keyword research is
  504. 18:26called GMB Everywhere, but really all
  505. 18:29that tool is doing is comparing primary
  506. 18:32categories, secondary categories, and
  507. 18:34services so that we can just pull all of
  508. 18:37that data, look through a list of what
  509. 18:40other businesses are using what other
  510. 18:41secondary categories and services, and
  511. 18:43decide which ones make sense for that
  512. 18:46business, for this client, for your
  513. 18:48business, and add those to your GBP,
  514. 18:51okay?
  515. 18:52Uh 100% asking Claude or some other AI
  516. 18:55can help, but the challenge is what I
  517. 18:57found is if you ask Claude or any AI for
  518. 19:01help choosing a Google category, uh
  519. 19:04they'll get it wrong. They make up
  520. 19:06categories. Google categories are a
  521. 19:08drop-down box, it's not a free box where
  522. 19:10you can type anything you want in. So,
  523. 19:12often it's going to give you categories
  524. 19:14that you can't actually select, which is
  525. 19:16very clearly problematic. Now, all of
  526. 19:19your target services, target service
  527. 19:21entities, should be on your GBP. Okay?
  528. 19:24If it's not on your GBP, then it doesn't
  529. 19:26need to be on your website. So, you
  530. 19:28don't really need to do keyword research
  531. 19:29like this. Just make sure that your GBP
  532. 19:32has all the categories, all the services
  533. 19:34that you could possibly care about, then
  534. 19:36make sure your website matches the
  535. 19:38structure that your GBP has.
  536. 19:40>> and stuff like that. I think a lot of
  537. 19:41people get hung up on it. So, just want
  538. 19:43to clarify that all you have to do is
  539. 19:45ask AI what keywords you should focus on
  540. 19:47for your website. All right?
  541. 19:50So, um I had it kind of analyze the
  542. 19:52keywords for uh search intent and buying
  543. 19:56stage. And what I mean by that is um are
  544. 19:59these folks like looking for repairs and
  545. 20:02service like right now? You know, I
  546. 20:04wanted to find out what keywords are are
  547. 20:06that type where somebody's willing to
  548. 20:08like pick up their phone and and give
  549. 20:10this company a call, and which ones are
  550. 20:12just kind of like looking for
  551. 20:13information and stuff like that.
  552. 20:14>> Again, using the basic philosophy with
  553. 20:16entity research where, "Hey, I'm just
  554. 20:18going to make sure that my GBP has the
  555. 20:20right services and the right categories,
  556. 20:22and then I'm going to create pages
  557. 20:23around those services and categories
  558. 20:25where also matching user intent." If
  559. 20:27somebody is searching for a very
  560. 20:29specific service, they often need that
  561. 20:31very specific service. So, we're not
  562. 20:33talking about building informational
  563. 20:35type content on a local business
  564. 20:37website. Same as what he's saying, we're
  565. 20:39just a little bit simpler than relying
  566. 20:41on AI to get this.
  567. 20:43>> So, when you get started, especially for
  568. 20:45like a boring business, you want to tap
  569. 20:47into uh those search terms where people
  570. 20:49are ready to like pull out their credit
  571. 20:51card or ready to have you come out to
  572. 20:53their site or or wherever the work is
  573. 20:55happening. So, that's what I kind of
  574. 20:57dialed in on. Okay? So, uh you can see
  575. 20:59that here, like uh we we have a few
  576. 21:02different categories of search terms
  577. 21:04that AI gave us. We have emergency
  578. 21:06keywords, service keywords, problem
  579. 21:08keywords, and local keywords. So, I
  580. 21:11found that all of these were pretty high
  581. 21:12intent, and they seem to be good ones to
  582. 21:15focus on.
  583. 21:17Um so, the other thing that you need to
  584. 21:19think about is SEO is all about really
  585. 21:23demand and supply. I mean, that's really
  586. 21:25one simple way to think about it. Um so,
  587. 21:28demand is what people are searching for,
  588. 21:31and you can think of supply as like
  589. 21:33landing pages on your website. All
  590. 21:35right? So, for each one of these search
  591. 21:37terms that related to a specific service
  592. 21:41that the company can do, and any of the
  593. 21:43location-oriented terms, I ended up
  594. 21:45building out dedicated pages for each
  595. 21:48and every one of those. Well, we'll talk
  596. 21:49about that in a bit when we get into the
  597. 21:52the vibe coding.
  598. 21:53>> Absolutely agree. That's exactly what we
  599. 21:54do. We find We make sure that Google
  600. 21:56Business Profile has the right
  601. 21:58categories, the right services, and then
  602. 21:59we build a page for every one of them,
  603. 22:01and then we internally link them so that
  604. 22:03they exactly match the structure the GBP
  605. 22:04he has.
  606. 22:05>> So, find your keywords, map them to the
  607. 22:09intent, and make sure that, you know,
  608. 22:11they just kind of make sense and don't
  609. 22:13overthink it.
  610. 22:14All right? Um so, the next step is
  611. 22:17uh you know, I already had this website
  612. 22:19built out. We'll talk about how I built
  613. 22:20that. But then, uh I went into a SEO
  614. 22:24audit. So, I asked Claude Code,
  615. 22:27uh where I built the site, "Hey, go
  616. 22:29through this website in extreme detail.
  617. 22:33Ultra think about this. You can use the
  618. 22:35ultra think command, so it'll spend
  619. 22:36extra time, use Opus, really go deep,
  620. 22:40and do sort of some deep research, and
  621. 22:42find all the technical and on-page SEO
  622. 22:45issues and opportunities that we can fix
  623. 22:48together so that I can dominate the
  624. 22:50local market."
  625. 22:51>> So, this is a major weakness with vibe
  626. 22:54coding your website for SEO purposes.
  627. 22:57It's good that he's talking about this.
  628. 22:59Most people who vibe code websites don't
  629. 23:01do this step of this hey, go look at
  630. 23:04this website from a detailed SEO
  631. 23:05perspective and help me. If you have a
  632. 23:08WordPress installation and you install
  633. 23:10Yoast, 90% of these are going to be
  634. 23:12taken care of, no problem, just by
  635. 23:15default, for free, out of the gate. If
  636. 23:17you're vibe coding a website from
  637. 23:19scratch, you need to make sure that the
  638. 23:22AI that's coding it understands that you
  639. 23:25care about these things and it needs to
  640. 23:26implement them. So, this technical
  641. 23:29foundation it's a really good step to
  642. 23:31do. I'm glad he did it. Uh otherwise, he
  643. 23:33wouldn't have had the robots.txt, the
  644. 23:35site map, etc., etc. Those things would
  645. 23:37not have been implemented had he not
  646. 23:39known to ask AI to do them. Another good
  647. 23:42option for this is just use a very
  648. 23:44simple automated uh SEO audit tool. It's
  649. 23:48going to look for a lot of these same
  650. 23:49things. In my experience, Claude is 70
  651. 23:53to 80% when it's doing uh SEO audit. Uh
  652. 23:57generally, you have to be incredibly
  653. 23:58specific at what it to look at and focus
  654. 24:01on. If you just say, go do a detailed
  655. 24:03SEO audit, there's likely a lot of
  656. 24:05things it's going to miss. Again, this
  657. 24:08is working so well in this situation
  658. 24:10because of how low the competition in
  659. 24:12this space is. If you tried to build
  660. 24:15something in HVAC Dallas and rely on
  661. 24:18Claude to do a technical SEO audit and
  662. 24:21find all of your mistakes,
  663. 24:22it's not going to work. You're not going
  664. 24:24to get ranked.
  665. 24:24>> So, it went through.
  666. 24:26It found out, hey, you don't have these
  667. 24:28files that help Google understand what
  668. 24:31the site is all about. It's slow to
  669. 24:33load. Uh you can optimize the speed. You
  670. 24:36can make it snappier. You need to
  671. 24:39include schema markup and
  672. 24:40>> Again, schema markup, Yoast will include
  673. 24:43that for free. Make it faster, WP Rocket
  674. 24:45is a plugin that does this for free.
  675. 24:47There's just a lot of advantages to
  676. 24:49using something like WordPress that
  677. 24:51takes care of so much of this without
  678. 24:53you having to know to ask AI to do it
  679. 24:55for you. And then trust that the AI can
  680. 24:58do it and can do it well.
  681. 24:59>> markup and some of these other technical
  682. 25:01things so that Google knows exactly what
  683. 25:03your website does. And then once you
  684. 25:06find them, you can just say fix them.
  685. 25:09>> [laughter]
  686. 25:10>> Um so like, you know, when you work with
  687. 25:12like an agency or something like that,
  688. 25:13that can take a long time. They have to
  689. 25:15get access to your code base or
  690. 25:16whatever. And now there's this beautiful
  691. 25:19sort of like power that someone has who
  692. 25:21can build a website and go and fix all
  693. 25:23this stuff on their own really quickly
  694. 25:26and and make sure it's optimized. So we
  695. 25:28identify those technical issues, we fix
  696. 25:30them.
  697. 25:31So we did like, you know, robots.txt,
  698. 25:34XML sitemap, URL fixes. You don't even
  699. 25:37have to know what all of it is to be
  700. 25:38honest with you. Just that Claude will
  701. 25:41find it and Claude will do it. So you
  702. 25:43just have to have that initial initial
  703. 25:45prompt.
  704. 25:46Um okay, so we did that. And then
  705. 25:50we started to dig into content. So like
  706. 25:53I said, for each of the locations and
  707. 25:54each of the services, I asked it to go
  708. 25:57super super deep into mapping out how we
  709. 26:00can outrank all the competition
  710. 26:03on these individual search terms. So I
  711. 26:06don't have a location page that's like
  712. 26:08diesel services in Charlotte. I have a
  713. 26:11page that goes into local landmarks,
  714. 26:14things around Charlotte, common issues
  715. 26:16that might affect your truck, frequently
  716. 26:19asked questions about, you know, the
  717. 26:21industry or whatever. Like it was able
  718. 26:23to reference like, "Ooh, there's
  719. 26:25probably a lot of like NASCAR type stuff
  720. 26:28happening in Charlotte with trucks and
  721. 26:31and shipping because that's where it's
  722. 26:33based or whatever." And it included that
  723. 26:35in in this individual location page. So
  724. 26:37I guess I would say like
  725. 26:39>> Yeah, I talked about this briefly
  726. 26:40before. I completely agree with this,
  727. 26:42right? Real location context is going to
  728. 26:44beat generic city pages every day of the
  729. 26:46week. Adding in landmarks, things like
  730. 26:48that, absolutely. The only thing he's
  731. 26:50missing, I showed you the rank map and
  732. 26:52how we want to talk about very hyper
  733. 26:54local landmarks and have specific pages
  734. 26:56about those landmarks based on where the
  735. 26:58rank map has gaps.
  736. 27:00We also want to talk about a couple of
  737. 27:02other signals that we're missing, the
  738. 27:04EEAT signals, real photos, schema beyond
  739. 27:07the local business schema, GBP
  740. 27:10alignment, and that internal linking
  741. 27:11structure. All of that is also very
  742. 27:13important as the competition goes up,
  743. 27:16but he's definitely got the basics. What
  744. 27:19we want this to content to be hyper
  745. 27:22local about this specific area, right?
  746. 27:24If I'm writing content for a plumber in
  747. 27:27Malden, Malden is a suburb of Boston,
  748. 27:29I'm going to be talking about all of the
  749. 27:31issues that a plumber in that area is
  750. 27:34going to face, right? One of them being
  751. 27:36something like lead main drain lines. If
  752. 27:38I'm writing about a plumber in OC,
  753. 27:40California, I don't need to talk about
  754. 27:42lead main drain lines because the houses
  755. 27:44in California are newer and don't have
  756. 27:47them. But in Boston, houses are older,
  757. 27:50they have lead main drain lines. Local
  758. 27:52eccentricities like that really help
  759. 27:54Google and AI systems to identify your
  760. 27:57business entity with the right
  761. 27:59attributes so that when someone is
  762. 28:01searching for those specific things,
  763. 28:03your business is going to rank and your
  764. 28:04business is going to get recommended.
  765. 28:06>> Like, you know, typically,
  766. 28:09um, if you're in a boring market,
  767. 28:11the competitors are not going super deep
  768. 28:13and getting all this information
  769. 28:15integrated into their site, it's your
  770. 28:17opportunity to use AI to do additional
  771. 28:19research and, you know, build out more
  772. 28:22information that, you know, search
  773. 28:24engines or even LLMs will prefer,
  774. 28:27uh, you know, to to crawl and to to
  775. 28:29serve you up. Right, so, um,
  776. 28:31here's a little thing like a lot of
  777. 28:33people you you actually posted about
  778. 28:34this yesterday, Greg, about sub agents
  779. 28:37in Claude code. So, here's a good, uh,
  780. 28:39use case for, uh, spinning up additional
  781. 28:42agents. So, um, you know, let's say that
  782. 28:45I wanted to keep working on the website,
  783. 28:47I wanted to, you know, start working on
  784. 28:49a blog or something like that, but there
  785. 28:51was still, you know, some SEO or
  786. 28:53whatever stuff to fix in the background.
  787. 28:56>> At least he admits that now.
  788. 28:58>> All right. Um so, that was a nice little
  789. 29:00hack uh that I that I worked on and that
  790. 29:02I found.
  791. 29:03Um and uh you know, the other thing that
  792. 29:05I did uh you know, I set up a Google
  793. 29:08Business Profile. I had Claude Code uh
  794. 29:11kind of go back and forth between uh
  795. 29:13that and between the website to make
  796. 29:15sure it was like consistent and there
  797. 29:17weren't any like, you know, uh kind of
  798. 29:20information that didn't match up and uh
  799. 29:22and things of that nature.
  800. 29:23>> So, it's not just the information. Yes,
  801. 29:25obviously, the name, address, phone
  802. 29:27number needs to be consistent, but
  803. 29:29beyond that, the internal linking
  804. 29:31structure of the website should exactly
  805. 29:33match how the GBP is set up for services
  806. 29:36and secondary categories. All of the AI
  807. 29:39systems basically use your GBP as the
  808. 29:42center, as the core entity for your
  809. 29:45business. Any errors on your GBP is
  810. 29:48going to affect what all of those
  811. 29:50systems think your business is. Your GBP
  812. 29:54is incredibly important and if you don't
  813. 29:56have a GBP, you're not likely going to
  814. 29:58get recommended by any AI tools and
  815. 30:01obviously, you won't rank on Google.
  816. 30:03>> Um Claude Code went in and it made a
  817. 30:05bunch of like internal links on the
  818. 30:06website. So, it uh
  819. 30:10it linked up like relevant uh location
  820. 30:13pages. It linked up uh you know,
  821. 30:15relevant uh services with uh related
  822. 30:18services and stuff like that. And these
  823. 30:20internal links are are good.
  824. 30:22>> So, this is not good. What Claude is
  825. 30:25going to do if you ask it to do this is
  826. 30:27exactly as he's showing. It's going to
  827. 30:29link together pages that are that Claude
  828. 30:32thinks are potentially relevant to each
  829. 30:34other. That's not what you actually
  830. 30:35want. You want pages to be linked
  831. 30:37together that follow the same structure
  832. 30:40as your Google Business Profile, right?
  833. 30:42Google, the AI systems, they're going to
  834. 30:44build an idea of what your website looks
  835. 30:47like based on your internal linking.
  836. 30:49They are not using your website URLs or
  837. 30:52your URL structure to build the picture
  838. 30:54of your website hierarchy. They're
  839. 30:56looking at your internal links. So, your
  840. 30:58internal links need to be very specific
  841. 31:00and they need to exactly match what your
  842. 31:02GBP is doing. If you have service one,
  843. 31:06if you have category one and service A
  844. 31:09under category one, and then you have
  845. 31:11category two and service B under
  846. 31:13category two, you do not want to link
  847. 31:15service A to service B because those are
  848. 31:17different hierarchies that live under
  849. 31:19different categories, okay? So, we don't
  850. 31:22want to just randomly link a bunch of
  851. 31:23pages together that feel like they might
  852. 31:25be relevant to one another. We want to
  853. 31:27very methodically make sure that we
  854. 31:30match your GBP structure exactly. And
  855. 31:33again, this is this page worked for him
  856. 31:36because this is a low competition space.
  857. 31:38>> for your SEO as well. Clawd Code knew
  858. 31:41what to do. It discovered it on its own.
  859. 31:43I didn't need to tell it to go and, you
  860. 31:45know, create internal linking uh on the
  861. 31:48website.
  862. 31:49So, uh what was the result of all this?
  863. 31:51I mean, like I said, like if you Now, if
  864. 31:54you go to Google and you say mobile
  865. 31:56diesel mechanic Charlotte and uh you
  866. 32:00look here, like we're showing up uh in
  867. 32:03the maps, like
  868. 32:04>> Okay. So, this isn't a rank map, right?
  869. 32:07He's not showing us a rank map here.
  870. 32:09This is one data point at one location.
  871. 32:12This essentially tells us nothing about
  872. 32:14how he ranks 3 mi away, 5 mi away, 6 mi
  873. 32:17away. That's where the actual work
  874. 32:19happens. I shared with you what a real
  875. 32:21rank grid looks like. It's this. I
  876. 32:24talked to you about how you target
  877. 32:26specific cells where you're ranking 4 5
  878. 32:286 7 with the goal of pushing to the top
  879. 32:30three. Showing this and demonstrating it
  880. 32:33as results, frankly, it's very amateur.
  881. 32:35This is not proof of ranking. Again,
  882. 32:38he's getting the calls. He's he's making
  883. 32:40the money, but look at this Google Map,
  884. 32:43okay? There's 1 2 3 4 5 businesses over
  885. 32:47this massive region, okay? So, yes, he's
  886. 32:50getting calls, but
  887. 32:52this is not much more impressive than
  888. 32:55ranking a new business for snow removal
  889. 32:57Miami.
  890. 32:58>> Uh in the maps like right away, and uh
  891. 33:01you know, we're in the top three organic
  892. 33:03results. And these some of these
  893. 33:05competitive web
  894. 33:06>> Nobody cares about organic ranking if
  895. 33:08you are ranking in the maps if you have
  896. 33:09a local business. Organic ranking just
  897. 33:11isn't important. You get a small small
  898. 33:13fraction of the calls. At my agency, we
  899. 33:15literally don't even track organic
  900. 33:17ranking. It just doesn't have a
  901. 33:19significant impact. Everything is based
  902. 33:21around ranking the GBP, establishing the
  903. 33:23GBP, and establishing your business
  904. 33:25entity
  905. 33:26with Google's AI and the other AI
  906. 33:29systems.
  907. 33:29>> these competitive websites and
  908. 33:31businesses have been around for, you
  909. 33:32know, 20 years or something like that.
  910. 33:35Um
  911. 33:35>> Yeah. So, this is crazy, dude.
  912. 33:37>> Yeah.
  913. 33:38>> Like, you know how crazy this is.
  914. 33:39>> This is nuts. I mean, this typically
  915. 33:41takes people months and months to go and
  916. 33:45climb up the rankings and start showing
  917. 33:47up for these like
  918. 33:48high-intent keywords.
  919. 33:51>> Yeah. And this is
  920. 33:53uh
  921. 33:54this is basically like real estate on
  922. 33:56the internet. Owning owning that space,
  923. 33:59right? Cuz, you know, while you're
  924. 34:01sleeping at night or on autopilot. And I
  925. 34:03know people are going to you you know,
  926. 34:05they're going to comment be like, "Yes,
  927. 34:08you know, SEO isn't dead now, but in
  928. 34:11like a few years, we're going to be on
  929. 34:12our AI-powered browsers, and we're just,
  930. 34:15you know, just going to be asking
  931. 34:16perplexity and ChatGPT questions."
  932. 34:19And the reality is and and let me know
  933. 34:21if you disagree with me, James, but the
  934. 34:23reality is if you do good SEO,
  935. 34:27the LLMs are going to just take some of
  936. 34:31the top SEO results and just plug it as
  937. 34:33answers.
  938. 34:34>> Yeah, like uh
  939. 34:37you know, LLM or GEO or whatever the the
  940. 34:41name of the week is, um I think it is a
  941. 34:45a big opportunity. Like I I think that
  942. 34:47we trust the recommendations that, you
  943. 34:50know, these LLMs are are giving us and I
  944. 34:52think the traffic that people are
  945. 34:54getting from
  946. 34:56uh those recommendations is very high
  947. 34:58intent and and very prime to take an
  948. 35:00>> You don't need to think. A lot of
  949. 35:01studies have shown that traffic that
  950. 35:03comes from ChatGPT and AI systems uh is
  951. 35:06much more likely to convert than traffic
  952. 35:07that comes straight from Google.
  953. 35:09Absolutely correct here.
  954. 35:10>> very prime to take an action or
  955. 35:12whatever.
  956. 35:13Um but yeah, like how do you show up in
  957. 35:15in ChatGPT or whatever? The way you show
  958. 35:17up in ChatGPT is by doing good SEO.
  959. 35:21>> 100% agree.
  960. 35:22Uh good GEO or as he said, whatever the
  961. 35:25acronym of the week is, getting
  962. 35:27recommended by ChatGPT is basically
  963. 35:29doing good SEO. Then maybe there's a
  964. 35:31couple of additional things that uh
  965. 35:33ChatGPT is specifically looking for or
  966. 35:35that Google's uh ask maps feature is
  967. 35:38specifically looking for, but yes, it
  968. 35:40all is going to start with doing good
  969. 35:42SEO. So, SEO is not dead, it's just
  970. 35:45changed and SEO changes every couple of
  971. 35:47years. So, this isn't a uh significant
  972. 35:49learning, but I just think it's funny
  973. 35:51that they're sitting here saying, "Oh,
  974. 35:53what we did was good SEO. It's over for
  975. 35:55SEO agencies." And they even admitted
  976. 35:58that the
  977. 36:00that the competitiveness of the niche he
  978. 36:03ranked in was surprisingly low. So, the
  979. 36:06the honest version of this, Vibe coded
  980. 36:08sites can 100% absolutely work in
  981. 36:11non-competitive niches against old, slow
  982. 36:13competitor sites.
  983. 36:15Admittedly, that's what he said and I
  984. 36:16agree with him. But this approach will
  985. 36:18hit a ceiling the moment you try it in a
  986. 36:20real metro against real competitors. The
  987. 36:23fundamentals, entity alignment, GBP
  988. 36:26structure, real geo-relevance via rank
  989. 36:28grids, programmatic content that
  990. 36:30actually differentiates, those aren't
  991. 36:32things that you can prompt your way
  992. 36:34into. They're systematic. So, I built a
  993. 36:37tool that does this work properly. It's
  994. 36:39the one that we use at my agency. So, if
  995. 36:41you want to see what a production-grade
  996. 36:42version of what he just demoed actually
  997. 36:44looks like, I have a full walk-through
  998. 36:46of my core 30 AI agent on this channel.
  999. 36:49Link is on this video. Watch it next and
1000. 36:52you'll see exactly what he missed.
