How To Quit Maladaptive Daydreaming Part 2 (Healthy Ways to Reclaim Your Focus & Mind) — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00I'm back a year later, [music] ready to
- 0:02talk about this again. This video isn't
- 0:05going to talk about the multiple
- 0:06different strategies you can use to quit
- 0:08maladaptive daydreaming, but rather
- 0:10we're going to be focusing on one
- 0:12specific method that I have been doing
- 0:15to maintain my [music] state of being
- 0:17clean from maladaptive daydreaming for
- 0:19almost 2 years at this point. [music] If
- 0:22you guys are new to my channel, welcome.
- 0:24My name is Ailani. I post content based
- 0:26on self- transformation, manifestation,
- 0:28subliminal stimuli, and basically
- 0:31everything that revolves around
- 0:32self-improvement and being your best
- 0:34self. [music] Also, before you guys
- 0:36start commenting on why my eyebrows look
- 0:38a little funky, I am growing them back
- 0:40to their natural full size. So, [music]
- 0:42please take that into consideration
- 0:44before you tell me how weird I look.
- 0:46Anyway, let's get right into the topic
- 0:49of today's video. I want to discuss the
- 0:53method [music] that I'll be talking
- 0:55about in a way that's very raw and
- 0:57straightforward because this method
- 1:00itself is very simple but it can be
- 1:03complex especially if you
- 1:07have strong emotional attachments to
- 1:09[music] the daydreams and the
- 1:11maladaptive thoughts that you might have
- 1:14specifically. The reason why this is
- 1:16going to be emotionally challenging is
- 1:17because we are going to be energetically
- 1:19purging all these thoughts. [music]
- 1:21We're basically going to be exercising
- 1:23the demons that live within our mind.
- 1:26And the first thing that we're going to
- 1:28want to do is we're going to want to get
- 1:31a journal. Maybe it looks like this one
- 1:33that I have right here. And this is the
- 1:34actual journal that I have used to purge
- 1:37my maladaptive thoughts. You're going to
- 1:39purchase a very, [music]
- 1:41very nice journal. One that you can
- 1:44probably put in like a purse or like a
- 1:46bag. Something that's not going to be in
- 1:48reach for others to see because this is
- 1:50going to be a very personal journal that
- 1:51you're not going to want others to see
- 1:53because this is going to include all of
- 1:55your deepest, darkest, most raw thoughts
- 1:58that you could possibly have. Anyway,
- 2:00[music]
- 2:01just choose a journal that feels
- 2:03characteristic to you. Choose one that
- 2:05you feel like you resonate with.
- 2:07Personally, I like any [music]
- 2:08journal style that has a very spiritual
- 2:11touch to it. You can also get something
- 2:14that has like a more mystical theme.
- 2:16Mystical/ spiritual tends to be my theme
- 2:19for journals here. So, just find [music]
- 2:20something that resonates with you. I
- 2:23know there are a lot of bookstores that
- 2:24carry paper blanks. Paper blanks
- 2:26journals are personally my favorite.
- 2:28[music] This right here is not a paper
- 2:30blanks journal. It's by Peter Popper
- 2:33Press. Find Gifts [music] since 1928. I
- 2:35found this one at Barnes & Noble. And
- 2:37Barnes & Noble basically carries a lot
- 2:39of journals that you can choose from.
- 2:41They're sturdy and they have a lot of
- 2:43pages. So once we begin the thought
- 2:47purging process, [music] ideally it's
- 2:50best if you can get alone in a space
- 2:53that is quiet and clear of other people.
- 2:57I want you to make this space designated
- 3:00to your writing, your [music] time. And
- 3:03although it's going to be emotionally
- 3:05challenging and you might feel some
- 3:07resistance to it, the first thing you
- 3:10want to do before you journal after
- 3:11[music] you find your space is simply
- 3:14sit alone with your thoughts for just a
- 3:15moment. So just ground yourself, breathe
- 3:19into your diaphragm, assure yourself
- 3:21that you have permission to write out
- 3:23all of these thoughts, no matter [music]
- 3:25how evil, dark, and ashamed you might
- 3:30feel to write them down. Give yourself
- 3:32[music] permission. We want zero
- 3:35resistance here. Because the more honest
- 3:38we can be with ourselves about these
- 3:40thoughts, [music]
- 3:42the more lasting results we are going to
- 3:44change because we are purging literally
- 3:46every single last thought we have out of
- 3:48our brain onto paper. Once you have
- 3:51given yourself permission and you
- 3:52energetically start to feel a little
- 3:54more safe to journal, we're obviously
- 3:58going to start the journaling [music]
- 3:59process here. And journaling shouldn't
- 4:02be structured because each person has
- 4:05their own approach to to journaling.
- 4:07Personally, [music] my journaling is
- 4:10very sporadic and spontaneous. Even
- 4:12though I am a very organized person,
- 4:15especially if it's in this journal, I
- 4:16keep two different journals. I keep a
- 4:18self-improvement journal/manifestation
- 4:20journal and my um transformative book of
- 4:24thoughts journal. Basically, this is
- 4:26what I've named my uh thought journal,
- 4:29the transformative book of thoughts. But
- 4:31anyway, um [music] just write until you
- 4:35feel like
- 4:37you energetically and somatically have
- 4:39no remnants [music] left of the negative
- 4:42thoughts. And this isn't meant to be a
- 4:44one time thing. Your thoughts are
- 4:46eventually going to come back and
- 4:47they're going to keep coming back over
- 4:49time. The whole point is when you start
- 4:52[music] to feel these thoughts formulate
- 4:54in your mind, you want to observe them
- 4:57[music] for just a couple of minutes or
- 4:59as long as you can unless you like
- 5:01actually give into them. When you
- 5:02actually like give emotional attachment
- 5:05to these thoughts, that's when you have
- 5:06to journal them out because we don't
- 5:09want to make you rely on journaling. We
- 5:12want to get you to a point where these
- 5:14thoughts no longer
- 5:16energetically resonate within your mind,
- 5:18[music] your body, and your emotions.
- 5:22So, if you do have the journal available
- 5:25when you feel emotionally attached to
- 5:28these thoughts, [music] journal them
- 5:30out. Get the energy out of your body as
- 5:32soon as possible because it is really,
- 5:34really easy to spiral out of control
- 5:36with thoughts [music] and ruminate on
- 5:38them all night. It's going to keep you
- 5:39up at night. And we know that staying up
- 5:41late and not getting enough sleep at
- 5:43night is very very bad for you [music]
- 5:45in all areas of health. So we want to
- 5:48make sure that you are purging these
- 5:51thoughts energetically and somatically.
- 5:53[music]
- 5:53The reason why we want to practice
- 5:56observing our thoughts without emotional
- 5:58attachment is obviously to remove the
- 6:00emotional attachment that we have to the
- 6:02thoughts. [music] For example, I often
- 6:06had a lot of negative thoughts regarding
- 6:07family, especially when I was in my
- 6:09later teens. When I was 19 years old,
- 6:12I'd say about I had a lot of negative
- 6:15thoughts about my upbringing. And when I
- 6:17would think of them, I had like really
- 6:19really bad grief. I constantly thought
- 6:21about how I could get revenge on the
- 6:23people who traumatized me and took my
- 6:26life towards negative paths and caused
- 6:30insecurities and people who bullied me.
- 6:32I constantly thought about ways I could
- 6:34get revenge [music] and the truth is
- 6:36this wasn't making anything better. It
- 6:37was feeding my ego and it was making me
- 6:40blind to healing the relationship with
- 6:42that person. So the first thing I
- 6:44started to do was I think it was right
- 6:46about this time when I was 19 years old
- 6:48when I moved out. And this gave me more
- 6:51free time to focus on journaling. And I
- 6:54don't want to say moving out gave me
- 6:55more time because I had more free time
- 6:57before I moved out. But I just felt like
- 7:00this time, you know, was a good time in
- 7:01to invest in journaling and discovering
- 7:04more about myself. So, I wrote down
- 7:06every single last thought, every single
- 7:10nasty [music]
- 7:11thought that remained in my mind. I I
- 7:14really don't care like how dark it was.
- 7:16I had a lot of dark thoughts and [music]
- 7:19by like naturally I'm a very very
- 7:21cerebral person. I spend a lot of time
- 7:23in my mind and I spend a lot of time
- 7:25observing my thoughts. So once I was
- 7:27finally able to get these thoughts onto
- 7:30paper and energetically purge them for
- 7:32my body, I would actually read back on
- 7:35these journal entries [music] and I
- 7:38would realize like not only like
- 7:42how sad the thoughts I was having were,
- 7:46but like [music]
- 7:48realizing how broken I truly was inside
- 7:52and that observing these thoughts was
- 7:54the first step towards healing.
- 7:56>> [music]
- 7:56>> When I talk about reading your past
- 7:59journal entries, this is almost as
- 8:02important as writing the thoughts out
- 8:06themselves. Because when you get the
- 8:08perspective of reading your past [music]
- 8:10entries from a week, maybe a month,
- 8:11maybe even a year ago, you give yourself
- 8:14insight into patterns on how you work
- 8:18psychologically, [music] how you
- 8:19function emotionally, and where your
- 8:21trauma lies. When you look at old
- 8:23entries, you are basically addressing
- 8:25[music] the root of your trauma.
- 8:28And I'm not saying this I'm not I'm not
- 8:32using this as advice to replace therapy,
- 8:34but there was a time where I did not
- 8:36have access [music] to to therapy. And I
- 8:39actually reversed a lot of my depression
- 8:41just by journaling and reflecting on my
- 8:43thoughts. The key to maintaining these
- 8:46maladaptive thoughts away [music] from
- 8:49your psyche is consistency and it's
- 8:52honesty. We don't want to patch anything
- 8:54up here. Journaling is extremely
- 8:56personal. I don't recommend sharing this
- 8:59with anybody else because this leaves
- 9:01you at risk for of course somebody
- 9:03opening up your journal and that can
- 9:04lead to feelings of betrayal, [music]
- 9:06distrust and it can really really hurt
- 9:09your vulnerability. And when pe when
- 9:12other people get to know you at this
- 9:14deep of a level without your consent,
- 9:16[music]
- 9:16it can definitely damage your
- 9:18relationship. So please please guard
- 9:20your entries [music] with your life. It
- 9:24would absolutely crush me to know that
- 9:26somebody entered [music]
- 9:27my journals without my consent. Believe
- 9:30it or not, I actually share some of my
- 9:32journal entries with [music] the people
- 9:33that I feel safest with. And I think
- 9:36this is also okay to do with people that
- 9:38you feel safe with. So, let's draw back
- 9:42from all of the like sadness and heavy
- 9:44emotions regarding maladaptive
- 9:46daydreaming. But I think there's
- 9:47actually a very fun process to this
- 9:49because over time when you become more
- 9:52consistent, I mean, once you start
- 9:55journaling out all these thoughts you
- 9:56have, like it might happen pretty fast
- 9:58for you to just purge all these
- 10:00thoughts. But if you're somebody who's
- 10:02like really really really into
- 10:03self-discovery like I am, you will
- 10:05actually like accumulate a lot of
- 10:07journals over time. I have 20 journals
- 10:10aides from these two right here sitting
- 10:14in a bookcase in my room. Some of them
- 10:16have have actually collected dust over
- 10:18the almost 4 years of journaling that
- 10:20I've been doing. And it's really fun to
- 10:22go back in time and read your old
- 10:24entries, but you because you can see how
- 10:25you've developed as a person. And you
- 10:27can also see like the giveaways and the
- 10:29cues that you can follow to like kind of
- 10:32tinker around with and use those as
- 10:35tools to help you become into the person
- 10:37that you want to [music] be. Thank you
- 10:39guys for staying until the end of this
- 10:40video today. This honestly is a very
- 10:43heavy topic and I want you to approach
- 10:46it carefully because it's emotionally
- 10:48challenging for a lot of people,
- 10:49especially if you have trauma [music] to
- 10:52suddenly just jot down and confront all
- 10:54these thoughts that you have in the back
- 10:56of your mind. Again, [music] thank you
- 10:58so much for staying here and until next
- 11:00time, I will see you guys. Take care and
- 11:02I love you so much. Bye.
