  1. 0:00Monkey got that post nut clarity, and
  2. 0:03boy, do it be hitting him like a right
  3. 0:05hook from prime Mike Tyson.
  4. 0:07>> [screaming]
  5. 0:08>> What have Monkey done? His 30-day no fap
  6. 0:12streak gone. His powers of levitation
  7. 0:15squandered, and the feeling of terrible
  8. 0:18shame lingering. Monkey has once again
  9. 0:21been defeated by lust. And as Monkey
  10. 0:23sits there in his dark room, he wonders
  11. 0:26if he'll ever be able to change. Luckily
  12. 0:29for Monkey, the answer is yes, he can.
  13. 0:32But, he has to take action now, because
  14. 0:35with every extra day, Monkey loses a
  15. 0:38little more of himself, and it gets
  16. 0:39harder and harder to stop. So, today,
  17. 0:42Monkey will learn three powerful steps
  18. 0:44to quitting the goon, so that he can
  19. 0:46wake up feeling calm, confident, and
  20. 0:48powerful again.
  21. 0:51Within Monkey, there are many monkeys.
  22. 0:53Morning Monkey tends to be quite
  23. 0:55disciplined. Post-lunch Monkey is
  24. 0:57usually tired. Evening Monkey is lazy.
  25. 1:00Depending on which version of Monkey is
  26. 1:02in control, urges to goon will feel very
  27. 1:06different. For Morning Monkey, resisting
  28. 1:08is easy, but for Evening Monkey, it's
  29. 1:11often impossible. This is because
  30. 1:13willpower, discipline, and motivation
  31. 1:15change based on circumstances. In the
  32. 1:18evening, they are lowest because Monkey
  33. 1:20is tired. Second, Monkey doesn't work in
  34. 1:23the evenings, so usually he's scrolling
  35. 1:24or on his laptop, two clicks away from
  36. 1:27the hub. And third, Evening Monkey's
  37. 1:29brain is very cunning. His brain will
  38. 1:31have many logical arguments for why
  39. 1:33Monkey can and should go to the hub.
  40. 1:36He's had a long day and needs to
  41. 1:38de-stress. There's nothing else to do.
  42. 1:40It's the evening. It helps him sleep
  43. 1:42better, and he won't sleep unless he
  44. 1:44does.
  45. 1:45What Monkey needs to do is be prepared
  46. 1:46for battle with this worst version of
  47. 1:49himself. The general who wins the battle
  48. 1:51makes many calculations in his temple
  49. 1:53before the battle is fought. The general
  50. 1:55who loses makes but few calculations
  51. 1:58beforehand. Sun Tzu, The Art of War.
  52. 2:01Here's some tactical steps Monkey can
  53. 2:03take to prepare.
  54. 2:06The main habit that Monkey should
  55. 2:07practice each day is preparing his
  56. 2:09environment to help him do good habits
  57. 2:12and break bad ones. Put these in place
  58. 2:14and evening Monkey will have a much
  59. 2:16harder time. But sometimes urges are so
  60. 2:19powerful that trying to fight them is
  61. 2:22impossible. So, Monkey needs to learn
  62. 2:24step two. Movement beats urges. Monkey
  63. 2:28is having a perfectly good evening. It's
  64. 2:30day 32 of NoFap and he's watching
  65. 2:32Minecraft videos, been chilling. When
  66. 2:35suddenly the most powerful urge to watch
  67. 2:37the hub comes right out of nowhere. This
  68. 2:40has happened to Monkey before. He's lost
  69. 2:43his streak, his powers of levitation,
  70. 2:45his confidence, and everything. All
  71. 2:47because of one single urge. So, he needs
  72. 2:49to lock in and focus up this time. Step
  73. 2:52one.
  74. 2:53Monkey must physically get up in less
  75. 2:55than 5 seconds and leave the room he is
  76. 2:57currently in. Mentally fighting the urge
  77. 3:00will not work, but physically fighting
  78. 3:02it by moving will. Step two. While
  79. 3:05Monkey is up, he should set a timer on
  80. 3:07his phone for 10 minutes. This is how
  81. 3:09long Monkey has to last. He can watch
  82. 3:12the hub after if he still feels like it.
  83. 3:14By making this deal with his brain, the
  84. 3:16urge calms down. And often after 10
  85. 3:18minutes, the urge will be far weaker and
  86. 3:20so Monkey will be able to carry on with
  87. 3:22his Minecraft videos.
  88. 3:24Step three. Monkey should open his notes
  89. 3:26app and write a short list of things to
  90. 3:28do instead of watching corn and gooning
  91. 3:30and then pick one to do while the
  92. 3:3110-minute timer is running. The best
  93. 3:33options are ones that give him a lot of
  94. 3:35dopamine because this satisfies the
  95. 3:37urge.
  96. 3:39Step four. If Monkey completes the 10
  97. 3:41minutes, he should track this as a win
  98. 3:44because the real goal isn't to just quit
  99. 3:45gooning, it's to become a Monkey that
  100. 3:47has more power to fight cravings,
  101. 3:49addictions, and cheap dopamine.
  102. 3:52Next, Monkey will learn why when he
  103. 3:54quits gooning, instead of feeling
  104. 3:55better, he actually ends up feeling more
  105. 3:58anxious and stressed. Number three, the
  106. 4:01pit of despair. Monkey is on day three
  107. 4:04of NoFap, and despite quitting a bad
  108. 4:06habit, he feels terrible. Why is this?
  109. 4:10First, Monkey need to realize that this
  110. 4:12is normal and is not a bad thing.
  111. 4:14Second, he must realize the vicious
  112. 4:16cycle he's in and why it gets worse
  113. 4:19before it gets better.
  114. 4:21What's happening is that watching the
  115. 4:22hub was quieting Monkey's existing
  116. 4:24stress and anxiety. In fact, this relief
  117. 4:27from stress and anxiety is one of the
  118. 4:29main reasons gooning is so addictive.
  119. 4:32And so, for a professional gooner who's
  120. 4:34just quit, this stress that was being
  121. 4:36quieted will rise up and burst out.
  122. 4:39Monkey will feel worse than ever. But
  123. 4:42Monkey does have a way out.
  124. 4:44Actually dealing with his anxiety
  125. 4:46instead of just hiding from it. Hiding
  126. 4:48from it is a vicious cycle that will
  127. 4:50just cause him to eventually relapse or
  128. 4:53take on some other bad habit. He must
  129. 4:55face his anxiety head-on on the
  130. 4:57battlefield. By doing this,
  131. 5:00when he feels anxious, Monkey should
  132. 5:02spend 5 minutes writing, trying to
  133. 5:04answer the question, "What am I actually
  134. 5:06feeling right now and why?"
  135. 5:09Writing is 10 times more effective than
  136. 5:11just thinking because it allows Monkey
  137. 5:13to slow down his brain and actually grab
  138. 5:15onto individual thoughts instead of them
  139. 5:17being a kaleidoscope of completely
  140. 5:19random Building this habit
  141. 5:21will help a lot.
  142. 5:23But quitting the goon is a rough
  143. 5:24journey. Some days Monkey win, some days
  144. 5:27he lose. Such is life. But if Monkey
  145. 5:30keeps on going, pushing through the
  146. 5:32losses, the relapses, the guilt,
  147. 5:34eventually he will come out on the other
  148. 5:36side and be so much stronger for it. So,
  149. 5:39good luck, young Monkey, and always
  150. 5:41remember, stay Monkey.
