  10. 0:16you don't miss out
  11. 0:17so what is fpl fpl is a game that casts
  12. 0:20you in the role of a fantasy manager of
  13. 0:21premier league players you pick your own
  14. 0:23squad of 15 players who score points for
  15. 0:25your team based on their performance in
  16. 0:27matches points gained for things like
  17. 0:29goals assists and clean sheets and
  18. 0:31points lost for things like yellow cards
  19. 0:32red cards and missed penalties if you've
  20. 0:34not signed up on the site yet pause the
  21. 0:36video and do that first once signed up
  22. 0:38you'll be asked to select your team and
  23. 0:40you'll notice all players have got their
  24. 0:41scores from last season by them or if
  25. 0:43you sign up once the season's already
  26. 0:44started then it'll show their points
  27. 0:46total for the season so far
  28. 0:48you have 15 players to pick and a budget
  29. 0:50of 100 mil you don't have to spend all
  30. 0:52your budget but it's generally a good
  31. 0:53idea as you'd imagine the better the
  32. 0:55player the more they cost you'll notice
  33. 0:57that you have slots for two goalkeepers
  34. 0:59five defenders five midfielders and
  35. 1:01three forwards you're also limited to
  36. 1:02selecting a maximum of three players per
  37. 1:04football club
  38. 1:05player prices will move up and down in
  39. 1:070.1 mil increments based on their
  40. 1:09transfers during the season for example
  41. 1:11a play in red hook form will be heavily
  42. 1:13transferred in by other managers which
  43. 1:14subsequently causes their price to rise
  44. 1:17you can sell your players for profit for
  45. 1:18every 0.2 mill that a player rises you
  46. 1:20can sell them for 0.1 mil profit for
  47. 1:23example if you own a 6 mil defender and
  48. 1:25he rises to six point two mil you can
  49. 1:26sell them for six point one mil
  50. 1:28each game maker entitled to one free
  51. 1:30transfer which you can use to replace a
  52. 1:32player of your choosing as long as it's
  53. 1:33within the budget
  54. 1:35if you don't need to spend a free
  55. 1:36transfer you can roll it over to the
  56. 1:37next week giving you two to spend you
  57. 1:40are only allowed two bank transfers
  58. 1:41maximum which is important to bear in
  59. 1:43mind you can make more transfers than
  60. 1:45you have available however for each
  61. 1:46transfer over your allowance you will be
  62. 1:48deducted four points from your total
  63. 1:49score this is typically not worth it but
  64. 1:52there are examples of when this can be
  65. 1:53worth it which we will touch on
  66. 1:55on the fpl site and app there is a
  67. 1:57fixtures tab which displays all the
  68. 1:58matches for the upcoming game weeks the
  69. 2:00fixture difficulty rating tabs useful
  70. 2:02for spotting a team with a good run of
  71. 2:03fixtures ahead each gaming there is a
  72. 2:05deadline to finalize your team which is
  73. 2:07always 1.5 hours before the first match
  74. 2:09of the game week make sure you've made
  75. 2:11your transfers picture starting team and
  76. 2:12bench and your captain before then
  77. 2:14when you pick your team each gameweek
  78. 2:16you must select the captain and vice
  79. 2:17captain your captain scores you double
  80. 2:19points
  81. 2:20picking the right captions therefore
  82. 2:22vitally important if your captain does
  83. 2:24not play then your vice captain gets the
  84. 2:25double points instead
  85. 2:27it's also important to put your bench in
  86. 2:29the right order you'll notice that
  87. 2:30they're numbered one two and three
  88. 2:32if any of you're starting 11 don't play
  89. 2:34then the first player on your bench
  90. 2:35replaces them and so on
  91. 2:37there are a multitude of formations you
  92. 2:39can play for example you could play five
  93. 2:40four one four four two three five two
  94. 2:43every season the best source of points
  95. 2:45can vary and there isn't one particular
  96. 2:46best formation
  97. 2:48no much players to buy can be tricky
  98. 2:50there is a series on this channel that
  99. 2:51focuses on which players have the top
  100. 2:53predicted points each game week which is
  101. 2:55a very valuable metric
  102. 2:56fpl also has some built-in metrics such
  103. 2:58as points per match form and the ict
  104. 3:00index which has influenced creativity
  105. 3:02and threat another important aspect of
  106. 3:05the game is the chibs there are four
  107. 3:07chips in total the wild card bench boost
  108. 3:09free hit and triple captain you get a
  109. 3:11wild card for each half of the season
  110. 3:13and the other three chips you only get
  111. 3:14one of the wild card is the most
  112. 3:16powerful chip as it allows you to change
  113. 3:18your entire team completely for free the
  114. 3:20bench boost allows you to score all the
  115. 3:21points on your bench for one game week
  116. 3:23three hits similar to the wild card and
  117. 3:25that you can make unlimited transfers
  118. 3:27however once the gameweek is over your
  119. 3:28team reverts back to how it was the week
  120. 3:30before
  121. 3:31the triple captain gives you triple
  122. 3:32points from your captain rather than
  123. 3:34double as the name suggests
  124. 3:36we won't go too deeply into the chip
  125. 3:38strategy but there are generally best
  126. 3:39times to use them as a high level
  127. 3:41overview the wild card's best used when
  128. 3:43your team's in very poor shape which you
  129. 3:44can't fix with a transfer hit or two
  130. 3:47during the season teams will play
  131. 3:48another cup competitions besides the
  132. 3:50premier league and as they advance
  133. 3:51further in these cups it can sometimes
  134. 3:53cause a fixture clash which causes a
  135. 3:55premier league fixture to be postponed
  136. 3:56this creates what's called a blank
  137. 3:58gameweek and fpl for that team and their
  138. 4:00opponent which gets rescheduled to
  139. 4:01another game meet causing a double game
  140. 4:03week therefore the blank and double
  141. 4:04gamix are an important aspect of the
  142. 4:06game too and typically don't come until
  143. 4:08the second half of the season it's often
  144. 4:10sensible to save your wild card until
  145. 4:11the double gamings roll around as you
  146. 4:13can imagine a team that plays twice has
  147. 4:15potential to score huge points for you
  148. 4:17regarding the rest of the chips and
  149. 4:18ideal usage the bench boost is typically
  150. 4:20best used directly in the double game
  151. 4:22weeks these come much later in the
  152. 4:23season and you'll know all about them if
  153. 4:25you're following this channel the triple
  154. 4:26captain is also best used in the double
  155. 4:28game league as you get two rolls of the
  156. 4:29dice your player to score you triple
  157. 4:31points players have scored as high as 32
  158. 4:33and 31 points in double games which
  159. 4:35emphasizes its potential the free hit
  160. 4:38chip has utility in both blanks and
  161. 4:39double game leagues if there's a black
  162. 4:41gamer with only a few matches on you
  163. 4:42don't want to butcher your team for one
  164. 4:44week just to fill the team alternatively
  165. 4:46a free hit does also let you maximize
  166. 4:48your potential in a double game week as
  167. 4:50you could field 11 players who play
  168. 4:51twice for up to 22 fixtures if you're
  169. 4:54only playing very casually you don't
  170. 4:55need to put too much stock into doubles
  171. 4:56and blanks but it can be the difference
  172. 4:58between beating your mates in the mini
  173. 4:59league
  174. 5:00fpl also has a bonus point system or bps
  175. 5:03whereby the three best performing
  176. 5:05players in each match will receive
  177. 5:06additional bonus points three points are
  178. 5:08awarded to the best performer two to
  179. 5:10second best and one to third if you tap
  180. 5:12a player's points each gaming could get
  181. 5:14full breakdown of their score and if
  182. 5:15you're lucky they'll have picked up some
  183. 5:17bonus points too
  184. 5:18if you'd like to set a mini league up
  185. 5:19this is done on the leagues and cups tab
  186. 5:21alternatively can join a public league
  187. 5:23too there's classic leads which are just
  188. 5:25highest points wins and is head-to-head
  189. 5:27where you're facing your opponent each
  190. 5:28week and whoever scores the highest wins
  191. 5:31i hope you found today's video useful if
