Full transcript
- 0:00Hello everyone, welcome or welcome back
- 0:02to my YouTube channel. My name is
- 0:03Plakshi and I run a crochet small
- 0:05business in India.
- 0:07Today I'm going to tell you guys
- 0:08everything about my packaging and how I
- 0:10ship my orders to my customers. So, in
- 0:13packaging I use four size of boxes. The
- 0:16first size is this one. This is a mini
- 0:19size and perfect for key chains and any
- 0:22small items. It's also sturdy, but if
- 0:25you're putting something that can be
- 0:27breakable, then make sure you bubble
- 0:29wrap it properly before sending it out.
- 0:32Then is this size. This is for a
- 0:34slightly bigger item like my crochet
- 0:37boards. And this is also a perfect size
- 0:39if anyone makes a combo of few small
- 0:42items. Perfect size for making a hamper
- 0:45as well.
- 0:48Then comes this size of box. The I use
- 0:51this for packing my small bouquets.
- 0:54Uh and I don't have a link for this box
- 0:57because I have got it made locally. I'll
- 1:00be mentioning the dimensions and I'll
- 1:02also add links of similar sizes that are
- 1:05available on Amazon. And this is the
- 1:08fourth size of the box that I use for
- 1:11packing my slightly bigger bouquets.
- 1:14Again, this is also not available on
- 1:16Amazon. Uh I've got this made locally as
- 1:20well, but I'll put its dimensions in
- 1:22case you have some local vendor. Or
- 1:25otherwise, I'll be putting some similar
- 1:27size links in the description box.
- 1:30For these two boxes, I purchased them
- 1:33from Amazon itself. So, I'll be sharing
- 1:35their links in the description box.
- 1:37Besides boxes for packaging, I use this
- 1:40shredded paper. This is also easily
- 1:42available on Amazon. I'll be putting its
- 1:44link as well. And I applied this
- 1:47sticker.
- 1:49It has my name on it and I got it
- 1:52custom-made from a small Instagram page.
- 1:55I do not remember the name of the
- 1:58Instagram page because I got a lot of
- 2:00them made in one go. So, I haven't
- 2:03ordered again from them. But can search
- 2:06on Instagram for custom stickers and I'm
- 2:10sure you'll find a tons of small
- 2:12business pages that are making
- 2:14customized stickers.
- 2:16And you can also get them customized
- 2:18from a local stationery shop.
- 2:21Next are these thank you cards.
- 2:24I got these from Meesho and I'll be
- 2:26putting its link as well. So, this is
- 2:29everything that I use for packaging
- 2:31since my products are not something that
- 2:33is breakable. But if your products are
- 2:36something that can break too easily,
- 2:39like candles or trays or anything like
- 2:42that, then make sure you use bubble wrap
- 2:44and I'll be also putting link of courier
- 2:47bags. I personally do not use much
- 2:50courier bags, but in case you use them,
- 2:53I'll be putting their links as well.
- 2:56And for taping my boxes, I use these
- 2:58tape cutters. These are very handy and
- 3:02if you'll directly tape your box from
- 3:04the tape itself without the cutter, it's
- 3:07very messy. You have to use scissors in
- 3:09between. But with this tape cutter, it
- 3:12just
- 3:13cuts itself. It has a cutter.
- 3:18And it easily cuts the tape and it's
- 3:20very handy. So, I'll be dropping its
- 3:22link as well.
- 3:24This was all about my packaging. I do
- 3:26not use anything else besides these
- 3:28things. And now let's come to the
- 3:31shipping part. For shipping, I use two
- 3:33options. One is post office and one is
- 3:36private courier service. So, first let's
- 3:39talk about post office. The post office
- 3:41is a very reliable and decent option for
- 3:44shipping your parcels. It's very cheap
- 3:47and it's available in every everywhere,
- 3:50like in every town, every village, every
- 3:53city. So, it's available everywhere. So,
- 3:56it can be a good option. I'll also let
- 3:58you know guys how much they charge. So,
- 4:01for a normal parcel, like for all my
- 4:03normal parcels, they charge around 40 to
- 4:0680 rupees. And if your parcels are big
- 4:09and heavy, then they uh then they'll
- 4:11charge around 90 to 150 rupees. Okay?
- 4:14And in India Post, too, there are two
- 4:16options. One is you can do parcel, and
- 4:18second is you can do speed post. So, the
- 4:20only difference in these two options is
- 4:23that parcel is a little slower, and
- 4:25speed post is a little faster. Although,
- 4:29even the speed post parcels take a lot
- 4:31of time. I'll tell you guys that, too.
- 4:33So, that's the tariff for the India
- 4:34Post. But, the only drawback of India
- 4:37Post is its delivery time.
- 4:40Its delivery time is very, very, very
- 4:42long. It can take up to 20, 25, even 30
- 4:46days
- 4:47uh to deliver your parcel.
- 4:49And sometimes they deliver in 7 days as
- 4:52well, but uh it's not reliable. They can
- 4:55take up to 30 days as well, even with
- 4:57speed post. And if you're doing parcel,
- 5:00then it will take even more longer.
- 5:02So, if you're using India Post, then let
- 5:05your customers know in advance that it
- 5:08can take around 20, 20, 25 days in
- 5:10delivery. But, the biggest plus point of
- 5:13India Post is that it is available
- 5:15everywhere, in every village, in town,
- 5:18everywhere, and it's also very cheap.
- 5:22Now, let's come to private courier
- 5:24service. In private courier service, I
- 5:26use DTDC courier. You can use any
- 5:28courier. I'll let you know a few good
- 5:30courier options. One is DTDC, Blue Dart,
- 5:34Delivery. And yes, these are the top
- 5:36three, my favorite ones. But, I'm
- 5:38currently using DTDC only, cuz it's
- 5:41nearest to my home. Uh so, the biggest
- 5:44benefit of using a courier is its fast
- 5:47delivery. So, they deliver your parcel
- 5:49in around 3 to 5 days. It takes maximum
- 5:53to maximum 7 days for my parcels, but
- 5:56most of the parcels get delivered in 3
- 5:58to 4 days. But, for obvious reasons,
- 6:00it's a little costly than India Post.
- 6:03I'll let you know its tariff as well.
- 6:05So, the tariff will vary from area to
- 6:07area and even shop to shop because it's
- 6:10a private courier service, so everyone
- 6:12charge different. So, for a small
- 6:15parcels, like the parcels packed in
- 6:17these small boxes, they'll charge around
- 6:2060 to 80 rupees all over India. And for
- 6:24a normal size parcel, like for these
- 6:27boxes, they'll charge 120 to 180 rupees
- 6:31all over India. And if your parcel is
- 6:34really heavy, okay, like uh more than 1
- 6:37kg, then they'll charge around 300 to
- 6:40100 400 according to your weight and the
- 6:44delivery area.
- 6:45There's a huge difference in cost, but I
- 6:48still prefer using private courier
- 6:50service. So, 80% of my parcels goes
- 6:53through DTDC only because of its fast
- 6:56delivery. It's very reliable, especially
- 6:58for a handmade business uh where you
- 7:01need at least 5 7 days for dispatch
- 7:04itself. And then, if you tell the
- 7:06customer then the delivery will take
- 7:08more than 20 25 days, then the total
- 7:11duration will come out to be around a
- 7:12month for a parcel's delivery. So,
- 7:15that's why I like using DTDC. If I take
- 7:187 days, even 10 days for making an
- 7:20order, for completing an order, my
- 7:22parcel gets delivered in the next 3 to 4
- 7:25days, making it 15 to 20 days delivery
- 7:27time. One drawback of private courier
- 7:29service is it is not available
- 7:32everywhere. So, they're available in all
- 7:35the developed cities, developed areas,
- 7:37but if we talk about small towns,
- 7:40villages, then the courier service will
- 7:42not be available there, and if you ship
- 7:44your parcel there, your parcel will get
- 7:47returned back to you.
- 7:49People often are scared that in case
- 7:52if India post parcel or the private
- 7:54courier parcel gets rejected by a
- 7:56customer or if a customer is not
- 7:57available or if customer provides
- 8:00incomplete address or wrong address
- 8:03by chance, then will we get back our
- 8:06parcels? Absolutely yes. In courier, you
- 8:09get back your parcel in around 7 to 8
- 8:12days, and you can easily track your
- 8:14return by the provided tracking details
- 8:16from the courier. And even in India
- 8:19post, your parcel will get returned back
- 8:21to you, but it will take a little longer
- 8:23time around 15 20 days, and sometimes it
- 8:26even takes a few months. But one thing
- 8:29is assured that if any of your parcel
- 8:31gets rejected and it gets returned, then
- 8:34it will definitely received by you. So,
- 8:37that's it for the shipping as well. If
- 8:39you're a new business owner and if
- 8:40you're someone who can ship your orders
- 8:43in 2 to 3 days, then you can prefer
- 8:46using India post as well. It's not a
- 8:48very bad option. It's a good option.
- 8:51Just let your customers know that how
- 8:53much time it can take. Let them know
- 8:55that it can take 15 to 25 days. If the
- 8:59delivery city is near your city, then it
- 9:01will take less time, but if it's a far
- 9:04away like it's if it's going from north
- 9:06to south, south to north, then it will
- 9:09take around 15 20 days. But if you're
- 9:11someone who can afford paying a little
- 9:14more on the shipping, then I'll
- 9:16definitely recommend using a private
- 9:18courier. And in private couriers as
- 9:20well, there are a few good couriers only
- 9:22which I've mentioned already, DTDC, Blue
- 9:24Dart, and Delhivery. Try using these
- 9:27couriers, and I'm sure you'll feel a
- 9:30much more relief when your parcels get
- 9:32delivered at the earliest to your
- 9:35customers. So, in all both the courier
- 9:38both the shipping methods are really
- 9:40reliable and it's totally up to your
- 9:42choice. I've mentioned the advantages
- 9:44and disadvantages for both. I personally
- 9:46use DTDC courier, but you can go with
- 9:49your own choice and convenience. And uh
- 9:52some people also ask about ShipRocket.
- 9:55So, I've personally never used
- 9:56ShipRocket because I've never heard a
- 9:59good review of ShipRocket. I've always
- 10:02heard that uh parcels are not picked up
- 10:05timely, they are not delivered timely,
- 10:07the product inside the parcels are
- 10:09misplaced and changed by the delivery
- 10:12boys. So, that's why I've never used
- 10:14ShipRocket. And because I have DTDC
- 10:16courier near my home, so I've never even
- 10:19felt a need to use ShipRocket. So,
- 10:22that's it for today. This is everything
- 10:23I could have told you about my packaging
- 10:26and my shipping. This is everything
- 10:28personally tried and tested by me and
- 10:30that I use. I hope you found this video
- 10:33helpful. If you found it helpful, don't
- 10:35forget to like, share, and subscribe my
- 10:37channel for more such content. Thank you
- 10:39for watching and we'll see you soon.
