  1. 0:00Gold laners have to do 2 things
  2. 0:01to outfarm their opponent:
  3. 0:03Farm and survive.
  4. 0:04Everyone can do those 2 things,
  5. 0:06but not well enough to farm
  6. 0:07thousands of gold more than the enemy.
  7. 0:09So that’s why I’ve put together
  8. 0:114 steps that will teach you
  9. 0:12the secrets to farming and surviving.
  10. 0:14Step 1: Laning Phase
  11. 0:17The laning phase is where
  12. 0:18a lot of players fail.
  13. 0:20They would either make a mistake
  14. 0:21and lose, or they never know
  15. 0:22how to properly use their advantages
  16. 0:24to win their lane.
  17. 0:26Avoiding both scenarios
  18. 0:27is essential to outfarming your opponent.
  19. 0:29So how do you avoid them?
  20. 0:31First, decide your playstyle.
  21. 0:33This is so you don’t end up
  22. 0:34feeding the enemy,
  23. 0:35but it can be important too
  24. 0:37if you want to reduce their farm.
  25. 0:39Whether your starting playstyle
  26. 0:40should be aggressive or passive
  27. 0:41is decided by your hero and enemy.
  28. 0:44So during the draft,
  29. 0:45try to wait until the enemy gold laner
  30. 0:47has chosen their hero
  31. 0:48so you can choose a hero
  32. 0:49you believe is good against theirs.
  33. 0:51If not, then you can decide
  34. 0:53your playstyle with this list
  35. 0:54which shows the different types of gold laners:
  36. 0:57Strong early game and weak early game.
  37. 0:59Gold laners with a strong early game
  38. 1:01tend to be able to play aggressive,
  39. 1:03while gold laners with a weak early game
  40. 1:05should play passive/safe.
  41. 1:07But figuring out who’s stronger
  42. 1:08between two strong early game gold laners
  43. 1:11requires knowledge and experience.
  44. 1:13So I would suggest playing safe
  45. 1:15if you don’t know.
  46. 1:16But if you can’t counterpick the enemy,
  47. 1:18you can choose a gold laner
  48. 1:19who’s harder to gank
  49. 1:20such as Beatrix, Lunox, or Natan
  50. 1:22with their ultimates.
  51. 1:24But if you want to play other marksmen,
  52. 1:26then go for it.
  53. 1:27If you know you’re the stronger gold laner,
  54. 1:29play aggressive and freeze their lane,
  55. 1:31using these two methods:
  56. 1:32The first method forces the enemy gold laner
  57. 1:35to either approach closer
  58. 1:36and get damaged by you,
  59. 1:37or stay back,
  60. 1:38where they lose their farm.
  61. 1:40If the enemy rushes to clear their wave,
  62. 1:42you can clear all the minions
  63. 1:44except for the last minion,
  64. 1:45which you pull closer to your side
  65. 1:47until the next minion wave arrives.
  66. 1:49This delays the flow
  67. 1:50and positions the minions closer to you.
  68. 1:53This method of freezing also works
  69. 1:54for the passive playstyle,
  70. 1:56where you freeze to play safer
  71. 1:57and make the enemy more vulnerable to ganks.
  72. 2:00However, be careful freezing the first wave
  73. 2:02that spawns because you won’t have level 2,
  74. 2:05while the enemy can attack you
  75. 2:06with their level 2 advantage.
  76. 2:08The second method is where  you’re the stronger gold laner,
  77. 2:11and you zone them whenever they try
  78. 2:12to approach closer to the minion waves
  79. 2:14in the middle of the lane.
  80. 2:16Unlike the first method,
  81. 2:17the second method keeps the enemy
  82. 2:19under their turret,
  83. 2:20which prevents the enemy gold
  84. 2:22from farming the crab.
  85. 2:23But keep in mind that other enemies
  86. 2:25might gank you as you’re very vulnerable.
  87. 2:27Now, speaking of farming the crab,
  88. 2:29here’s an important tip
  89. 2:30that will make you farm way faster:
  90. 2:32Ask yourself this:
  91. 2:34How many times do you take the crab per game?
  92. 2:36The gold crab spawns at 42 seconds into the game
  93. 2:39and respawns one minute after being taken.
  94. 2:42Killing it grants around 100-300 gold,
  95. 2:45but it will stop spawning  after being taken 7 times.
  96. 2:48You should prioritize it as a small objective
  97. 2:51by arriving there before it spawns
  98. 2:52and using the game timer.
  99. 2:54When it is taken, add 1 minute to the game timer
  100. 2:57and try to arrive early to secure it
  101. 2:59before the enemy gold laner or jungler does.
  102. 3:02But remember to watch out for ganks,
  103. 3:04and don’t die for it.
  104. 3:05You can usually farm the gold crab
  105. 3:07if you are better at last hitting than the enemy.
  106. 3:09For example, in this clip, I play Harith
  107. 3:12and have a better last hit than Karrie,
  108. 3:14and because of that, I was  able to get 4 gold crabs.
  109. 3:17The 4 gold crabs equaled 547 gold.
  110. 3:21Step 2: Map Awareness
  111. 3:23The other important part of the laning phase
  112. 3:25is map awareness.
  113. 3:27For example, your playstyle can change
  114. 3:29depending on nearby enemies or allies,
  115. 3:31and you would know
  116. 3:32whether to farm the gold crab or not.
  117. 3:34So, let's start with how to act
  118. 3:36according to each enemy.
  119. 3:37If the enemy jungler is missing,
  120. 3:39you can literally predict their gank path
  121. 3:41by using the scoreboard trick
  122. 3:43which allows you to know
  123. 3:44the buff they start at level 1.
  124. 3:46If they gain 20 gold and then 100 gold,
  125. 3:49it means they’re taking the purple buff
  126. 3:50and are usually rotating to the top lane.
  127. 3:53If they instantly gain 120 gold,
  128. 3:55it means they’re taking the orange buff
  129. 3:57and are usually rotating to the bottom lane.
  130. 4:00So, if the enemy jungler is rotating to your lane,
  131. 4:03play safe.
  132. 4:04But if not, you still need to consider
  133. 4:06the enemy mid laner and roamer.
  134. 4:08Pay attention to which lane they’re rotating to
  135. 4:10while you have vision on them on Mid Lane.
  136. 4:12When they’re missing, you can often
  137. 4:14figure out their position on the map
  138. 4:15by looking at their direction
  139. 4:16right before you lose vision of them.
  140. 4:18But remember that they can still
  141. 4:20change their direction after  you lose vision on them.
  142. 4:23Play safe until they’ve  been spotted somewhere else
  143. 4:25and do not take any risks.
  144. 4:27The enemy mid laner might also be on Mid Lane,
  145. 4:29while the enemy roamer is  camping in nearby bushes.
  146. 4:33Watch out for the enemy roamer
  147. 4:34if he uses Flicker as battle spell,
  148. 4:36or if he’s Khufra or Franco,
  149. 4:38who can ambush you from far away.
  150. 4:40Next up is how to act
  151. 4:41according to your allies.
  152. 4:43Just like the enemy roamer,  jungler, and mid laner,
  153. 4:46your allies can gank your lane too.
  154. 4:48If you notice on the map
  155. 4:49that your allies are rotating to gank you,
  156. 4:51you should try to bait the enemy gold laner out.
  157. 4:54But keep in mind that you should only try to bait
  158. 4:56and approach the enemy gold
  159. 4:57when you’re sure of where the other enemies are.
  160. 5:00Don’t blindly follow up on your ally.
  161. 5:02Use the first method of freezing
  162. 5:04to make the enemy easier to gank.
  163. 5:06Also, if the ally jungler is farming
  164. 5:08towards your path,
  165. 5:09don’t take the common jungle,
  166. 5:11as it is required for him
  167. 5:12to reach level 4 to gank.
  168. 5:14Step 3: Avoiding Early Game Deaths
  169. 5:17Now that you can figure out
  170. 5:19when you’re getting ganked
  171. 5:19by using your map awareness,
  172. 5:21you need to know what to actually do
  173. 5:23in those situations to avoid early game deaths.
  174. 5:26So here are 4 important tips:
  175. 5:28The first tip is about surviving ganks
  176. 5:30from multiple enemies.
  177. 5:32A lot of players believe that it’s impossible
  178. 5:34to survive from 3-4 enemies
  179. 5:36and blame their teammates for not helping.
  180. 5:38But sometimes it’s actually possible,
  181. 5:40if you know what to do.
  182. 5:41This is up to your map awareness
  183. 5:43and vision from your team,
  184. 5:44but if you notice enemies are missing,
  185. 5:46abandon your turret rather than die defending it,
  186. 5:49where you hide and position yourself in this bush.
  187. 5:51This prevents you from getting trapped
  188. 5:53under the turret for when they come.
  189. 5:55But what should you do
  190. 5:56if it’s too late and you’re trapped
  191. 5:57under the turret where the enemies surround you?
  192. 6:00Well, the second tip is to position yourself
  193. 6:02where you block the minion wave
  194. 6:04before they enter the turret range,
  195. 6:05which will make it harder for them to dive
  196. 6:07under your turret,
  197. 6:08because you’ll only have to defend one side
  198. 6:10instead of two sides.
  199. 6:12Your main goal here is to waste their time
  200. 6:14as much as possible and clear the wave
  201. 6:16to prevent the turret from getting pushed.
  202. 6:18The third tip is to be careful of these bushes
  203. 6:20when walking back to your lane
  204. 6:22if enemies are missing.
  205. 6:23This is especially important if you recalled
  206. 6:25or died while there’s still time
  207. 6:27before the first turtle spawns.
  208. 6:30During this time, the enemy jungler
  209. 6:32might be farming near your lane,
  210. 6:33such as at the Fire Beetle or Horned Lizard,
  211. 6:36if your own jungler isn’t,
  212. 6:37because that’s the normal farming route
  213. 6:39when rotating to Gold Lane.
  214. 6:41If they notice you're missing from your lane,
  215. 6:43they might camp to ambush you
  216. 6:44before rotating to the turtle.
  217. 6:46In this situation, your best option
  218. 6:48is to avoid your lane until the turtle spawns
  219. 6:50so the enemy jungler leaves your lane.
  220. 6:53The fourth and last tip is getting tier 1 items.
  221. 6:56These items can save you
  222. 6:57from getting killed by the enemy jungler
  223. 6:59in the early game.
  224. 7:00You can opt for Dreadnaught Armor
  225. 7:02when the enemy jungler is physical damage,
  226. 7:04such as Fanny, Hayabusa, or Ling.
  227. 7:07Or opt for Magic Blade
  228. 7:08if it’s Julian or a mage
  229. 7:10that’s constantly ganking you.
  230. 7:11But keep in mind that the items
  231. 7:13don’t suit all types of gold laners,
  232. 7:15such as Harith or Lunox.
  233. 7:18Step 4: Mid Game Rotation
  234. 7:20The laning phase isn’t the only time
  235. 7:22where you can outfarm your opponent.
  236. 7:24There’s the mid game too.
  237. 7:26If you already have a lead,
  238. 7:27you can farm even more,
  239. 7:29but if you’re behind in gold,
  240. 7:30there’s still a chance to come back.
  241. 7:32So, after the laning phase is over,
  242. 7:34you’ll usually face one of these 2 scenarios:
  243. 7:37One, You lost your 1st turret.
  244. 7:39Two, You pushed the enemy’s 1st turret.
  245. 7:42In the first scenario, remain safe
  246. 7:44under the 2nd turret
  247. 7:46unless your lane is frozen by the enemy,
  248. 7:48and don’t go too far out
  249. 7:49if enemies are missing.
  250. 7:51Since the minion waves take longer
  251. 7:53to arrive at your 2nd turret,
  252. 7:54you can rotate back and forth
  253. 7:56between your lane and the Mid Lane
  254. 7:57to clear both minion waves
  255. 7:59while your mage is busy
  256. 8:00with ganking Exp Lane.
  257. 8:02This is what I call double laning,
  258. 8:04which will help you catch up
  259. 8:05to the enemy team’s gold.
  260. 8:07However, when you travel between the lanes,
  261. 8:09use safe paths as enemies
  262. 8:11now have more map control and can camp you.
  263. 8:14In the second scenario,
  264. 8:15you should either stay on your lane
  265. 8:16and farm gold crabs,
  266. 8:18or swap lanes with your Exp Laner
  267. 8:20to continue pushing turrets.
  268. 8:23In SoloQ, I would suggest
  269. 8:25staying on your own lane
  270. 8:26rather than swapping
  271. 8:27if your Exp Laner is unreliable,
  272. 8:29as it requires timing.
  273. 8:31You also shouldn’t swap lanes before 5:10
  274. 8:33because the first 10 waves on Gold Lane
  275. 8:35grants you 45% extra gold.
  276. 8:38Now, when it comes to the turtle,
  277. 8:40you should rotate if your team contests it.
  278. 8:42But don’t go there first,
  279. 8:43and instead wait for your team or roamer
  280. 8:45to go who can provide vision for you,
  281. 8:47as other enemies could be camping
  282. 8:49in nearby bushes.
  283. 8:51This applies to all types of teamfights:
  284. 8:53never go near bushes first if it’s dangerous.
  285. 8:56But even so, you still want  to keep a long distance,
  286. 8:58since enemies can attack you either way,
  287. 9:00if they ignore your roamer.
  288. 9:02If your team doesn’t contest the turtle,
  289. 9:04then continue farming and try to split push
  290. 9:06if you can.
  291. 9:07If you’re winning your lane,
  292. 9:09continue to prioritize farming the gold crab.
  293. 9:11And that’s pretty much it.
  294. 9:13Thanks for watching.
