  1. 0:00This is the hard part for most people.
  2. 0:01Can you teach your body emotionally what the future will feel like before it happens?
  3. 0:06That means you're not waiting for your wealth to feel abundant.
  4. 0:09You're not waiting for your success to feel empowered.
  5. 0:11You're not waiting for your new relationship to feel loved.
  6. 0:14You're not waiting for the mystical experience to feel awe.
  7. 0:17You're not waiting for your healing to feel gratitude.
  8. 0:20That's the old model of reality of cause and effect.
  9. 0:23Wait for something outside there to change, to take away this lack of separation or emptiness that I feel inside me.
  10. 0:29But if you begin to condition your body into the emotion of that future, and you could become familiar with that emotion because you could bring it up every day, and you could keep becoming more familiar with the way you're thinking, the way you're acting, and the way you're feeling.
  11. 0:43If you actually feel the emotions of your future before they happen, you'll never look for it.
  12. 0:48Why would you look for that future if it felt like it already happened?
  13. 0:51Get ready.
  14. 0:52I'm telling you, get ready because weird things are going to happen in your life.
  15. 0:55The side effect of that is the synchronicity, the serendipity, the coincidence.
  16. 0:59The opportunity, the unusual event that causes you to do the... And I'm not talking about a parking space either.
  17. 1:09I'm talking about a real life event.
  18. 1:13Where your world is rocked and somehow you come to the awareness, the consciousness, the understanding that somehow you're creating this.
  19. 1:23And we move from being the victims of our lives to being the creator of our lives.
  20. 1:27And I want people to experience that to prove to themselves how powerful they really are.
  21. 1:31And people have done all kinds of things as a result of it.
  22. 1:34Hey, it's Evan Carmichael, and I make these videos because running the business is hard, and waking up every day and getting to work when you're all by yourself is hard.
  23. 1:43And the thing that saved me, that continues to inspire me, motivate me, give me hope, inspiration, ideas, is looking at the stories of people who've done a lot more than me, and I learn strategies, I get motivation, and it gets me to believe in myself to go off and attack the day.
  24. 2:00And so I hope this video inspires you to do the same as well.
  25. 2:03So today let's learn how you can manifest the things that you want.
  26. 2:07Enjoy.
  27. 2:10Rule number two is believe in it with Gabby Bernstein.
  28. 2:14The question is manifesting real?
  29. 2:16The only answer is it's the only real thing because we forget that we have a energetic state that is constantly attracting its likeness.
  30. 2:28And that truth, that truth that this is a world made up of energy, we are beings made up of energy, and everything is a frequency that's consistently bouncing off of one another.
  31. 2:39People, things, even walking into a room.
  32. 2:41I'm back in the studio today.
  33. 2:43This studio versus the studio next door, this studio has some up energy, right, Wolf?
  34. 2:48I mean, I don't know.
  35. 2:49There's some up funky happening in this studio.
  36. 2:51And next door, it's like high vibes.
  37. 2:54So energy is everything.
  38. 2:56And we have to recognize that we can be the conductor of the world we see when we start to fine tune our energy.
  39. 3:04And that's how manifesting is in full form.
  40. 3:08That is the answer.
  41. 3:09Is manifesting real?
  42. 3:10Hell yes, manifesting is real because what it is, simply put, is our ability to attract our energetic likeness
  43. 3:18And so when we enter into spaces that don't feel in alignment, we have to do whatever it takes to get back into that alignment.
  44. 3:24Right before my first interview in this room, my friend Amanda Ducatene, who came on for the interview, she grabbed me by the hand.
  45. 3:29She said, let's just tune in because the energy in this room is funky.
  46. 3:34We have lovely Wolf here today.
  47. 3:36We've got a lot of faith in him.
  48. 3:38So we're leaning into that.
  49. 3:39And everything technically seems to be working right now.
  50. 3:41So we're going to lean into that.
  51. 3:43And I can shift my energy around what I walked in with right here, right now.
  52. 3:48And in shifting my energy, I can actually manifest a really good episode.
  53. 3:51I can manifest a really great show.
  54. 3:54I can manifest a lot of healing and support.
  55. 3:56Whereas if I hadn't been in tune with that energy, if I hadn't had the awareness of what my energy is doing in this moment and how I can adjust it, then I'm going to manifest more of what I don't want.
  56. 4:06I'll probably manifest more tech issues today.
  57. 4:07I would manifest just a low vibe energy.
  58. 4:10I would show up for this feeling a little bit funky.
  59. 4:13And everything would feel really off.
  60. 4:15So recognizing and accepting that manifesting is merely the energetic reaction and response to what our energy is putting out.
  61. 4:26Is manifesting real?
  62. 4:27Hell yes.
  63. 4:29And it's a lot more simple than we make it.
  64. 4:31But it's the folks out there that are constantly saying things to themselves like, hey, I'm going to think it and then it's going to happen.
  65. 4:37Or the more I talk about something, the more it's going to happen.
  66. 4:39Or if I make a vision board, something's going to happen.
  67. 4:41That is when manifesting becomes like a game.
  68. 4:44And that's not how it works.
  69. 4:46Manifesting is really accepting the power of your energy and learning the tools and the methods to realign with the energy of joy, the energy of love, the energy of grace, the energy of inner peace, the energy of simplicity and relaxation.
  70. 5:02And in that place of genuine grace, we have the power to start to be the conductor of the
  71. 5:11and co-create our reality, rather than be the victim of the world we see because we're not caring for our energetic state.
  72. 5:16Rule number three is reprogram your mind with Bruce Lipton.
  73. 5:20Your life, 95%, is coming from the program.
  74. 5:25Your life is a printout of your programs.
  75. 5:29You just look at your life and recognize simple fact.
  76. 5:32The things that you like that come into your life, they come in because you have a program to acknowledge those things.
  77. 5:40The things you wish, desire, want in your life, and you work hard to make them happen.
  78. 5:45You struggle, you sweat over it.
  79. 5:48I'm putting a lot of effort in, I'm gonna make this happen.
  80. 5:50Why are you working so hard?
  81. 5:53And the answer is whatever that destination is, your program doesn't support it.
  82. 5:58And you're trying to use your conscious creative mind to override the program.
  83. 6:03I say, yeah, my conscious mind's 5%, program's 95%, I go,
  84. 6:08It's not going to work very well at all.
  85. 6:10So that's why poor people stay poor and rich people stay rich.
  86. 6:14Yep.
  87. 6:14That's why the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
  88. 6:16That was exactly what the whole point was.
  89. 6:17If you grew up with the programming of a rich family, you don't have to think programming is subconscious.
  90. 6:22Your thinking might be quite stupid.
  91. 6:24I mean, a former president of ours was a relatively rich person, but not very smart in his conscious mind.
  92. 6:30But his program was how I got rich by what he downloaded that from his family.
  93. 6:35Okay.
  94. 6:37And if you're in a poor family, what did you download?
  95. 6:39Oh, life's a struggle.
  96. 6:40I can't get there.
  97. 6:42As you know, you can change it.
  98. 6:44I say, yeah.
  99. 6:45How can you change it?
  100. 6:45Remember, I said, well, there are two minds.
  101. 6:47Conscious is creative, wishes and desires.
  102. 6:50Subconscious is hard drive with a program.
  103. 6:52I say, the conscious mind being creative can learn from anything.
  104. 6:55Read a self-help
  105. 6:55book.
  106. 6:56Oh yeah, I know how to do that.
  107. 6:58I said, you read the book.
  108. 6:59I give you a quiz.
  109. 7:00You get a hundred and it says, yeah, you know this stuff.
  110. 7:03And then I say, well, now that you know this stuff, did your life change?
  111. 7:07And the answer is no.
  112. 7:08I go, why?
  113. 7:10The conscious mind learned from reading the book.
  114. 7:12That's not how the subconscious mind learned.
  115. 7:13So our smarts stay up here.
  116. 7:16I read the book.
  117. 7:17I knew the information.
  118. 7:18I understood how it worked, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
  119. 7:20I go, yeah, that's the thinking mind.
  120. 7:23That knows.
  121. 7:24But I go, does that translate into subconscious?
  122. 7:27I go, no, it doesn't, because that's not how the subconscious mind learns.
  123. 7:30You want to change the subconscious, then you have to put in the data the way the subconscious mind learns.
  124. 7:34Conscious mind creative can learn from anything.
  125. 7:36You could just go, uh-huh.
  126. 7:38i just changed my mind i can do that okay subconscious mind habit point of habit it resists change if a habit changes and by definition it's not a habit anymore so habits resist change and yet we have these habits and we want to change them i said how can you do it and i say the only way you can change the habits is the way that the habits were learned in the first place
  127. 8:01I go, well, what was that?
  128. 8:02I said, first seven years, your brain was at a lower vibration than consciousness.
  129. 8:07It was called theta.
  130. 8:08Theta is hypnosis.
  131. 8:10And I go, oh, so what do I do?
  132. 8:11I say, well, you can't just say, okay, I want to go into hypnosis.
  133. 8:16Hypnosis is part of a scale of low vibration going to high during the day.
  134. 8:20And then when you come home from work, the high vibration slows down and goes to sleep at the lowest vibration.
  135. 8:24So you go through a range of different vibrations as you're sleeping, awakening, calm, conscious.
  136. 8:31focus conscious you're at work focus conscious and i go then what you come home you calm down now it's calm conscious and then i say what then you fall asleep i say the instant you fall asleep the next vibration down is theta i go that's hypnosis i go yeah so i say then every night
  137. 8:51The moment you fall asleep, the brain for a short period of time is in hypnosis theta.
  138. 8:57So I say, so what?
  139. 8:58Well, you put on earphones or earplugs and you go to bed playing a program that you want to be true in your life.
  140. 9:06I say, so what?
  141. 9:07I say, you put it on just before you fall asleep.
  142. 9:10and while you're still awake you probably hear some of the program okay but the moment you fall asleep conscious minds disconnect it doesn't hear anything coming off of the program anymore i said but what does i say ah
  143. 9:23the subconscious mind is in theta, record.
  144. 9:26So whatever's coming through the earphones is not going into conscious mind, but it's now being directly downloaded into the subconscious.
  145. 9:34So this is called self-hypnosis.
  146. 9:36You have to repeat this process because the amount of time in theta is relatively short before you hit the lowest vibration, delta, which is sleep outright, okay?
  147. 9:46So every night when you go to bed, just after your consciousness falls asleep, there's a period of record opportunity.
  148. 9:52And then we put the earphones on, play the program, it's called self-hypnosis.
  149. 9:56That's hypnosis, you're doing it yourself, okay?
  150. 9:59Number two, you still learn programs after age seven.
  151. 10:02You learn how to drive a car.
  152. 10:04You learn how to play an instrument.
  153. 10:05I go, well, how'd you do it that way?
  154. 10:07And I go, repetition.
  155. 10:10Habituation is practicing something and repeating it and repeating it so many times that the subconscious finally says, okay, I got a pattern, I got the pattern.
  156. 10:20And that pattern then becomes the habit.
  157. 10:22also to make sure you're actually taking action after watching this video i've designed a special free worksheet just for this video the worksheet will highlight all the lessons learned in this video as well as pull out our three favorite learnings and quotes that will inspire you to actually do something the worksheet will also give you space to write down what your key takeaways are and your specific plan of action to make sure you're getting results
  158. 10:49If you want the worksheet designed specifically for this video, absolutely for free, there's a link in the description below.
  159. 10:56Go click on it and start building the momentum in your life and your business.
  160. 11:00I'll see you there.
  161. 11:01Rule number four is create a vision board with Tara Swart Bieber.
  162. 11:05I wrote the book every weekend for a year.
  163. 11:08And that was a great part of my journey of integrating those things, doing the research, finding out what science could explain the laws of attraction.
  164. 11:16But then actually it was the response to the book that I think really hit me emotionally that how much people wanted a very clear, pragmatic explanation of what you have to do with your brain and your thinking and your feeling and your action.
  165. 11:34to bring the things that you want into your life.
  166. 11:36So I'll start with visualization and vision boards.
  167. 11:40I kind of, the science behind them is quite similar.
  168. 11:43So it's basically about three processes that happen in the brain and they are selective filtering, selective attention and value tagging.
  169. 11:53So basically we're bombarded with so much information and this has been the case for a long time.
  170. 11:59But if you read a copy of the New York Times today,
  171. 12:03you would receive as much information from that one newspaper as somebody would in their entire lifetime 100 years ago.
  172. 12:09And even then, they were overly bombarded with information.
  173. 12:13So the brain has a natural filtering mechanism, which is that you don't need to notice things that aren't really relevant to your survival.
  174. 12:22So for example, you don't notice your clothes on your body all day.
  175. 12:27So we need to direct that filtering system.
  176. 12:30Otherwise,
  177. 12:32In a way, we're still wired just to survive and reproduce.
  178. 12:36So things that will help us to thrive in the modern world may not necessarily be filtered in unless we're presenting visual images to our brain on a daily basis or sitting down and closing our eyes and visualizing the things that we want in our life for a certain outcome.
  179. 12:52If we do those practices, then the next process comes in, which is selective attention, which is that you notice the things that you're visualizing or you have on your vision board.
  180. 13:02It's like when you buy a new car and then you suddenly see it everywhere.
  181. 13:08So it's basically priming your brain to notice opportunities that will take you closer to your goals.
  182. 13:14And then value tagging is the brain's system of putting things in order of importance.
  183. 13:21And it does this in two ways.
  184. 13:22It does it in a cold or logical way.
  185. 13:25and a warm or emotional way.
  186. 13:28So the logical things are basically the survival, the basics that we need to survive, like roof over our head, food on the table.
  187. 13:35And the warmer things are the ones that we might choose to put on our vision board.
  188. 13:41So they're the things, our dreams, our desires, goals that show that we're thriving rather than just kind of surviving.
  189. 13:50So by repeatedly exposing your brain to these images, you're priming it to not just notice, but also grasp the opportunities that will take you closer to what you want.
  190. 14:00And that's why I call vision boards action boards, because I don't believe that you can create this fantasy image and sit at home and wait for it to come true.
  191. 14:07I believe that you need to be out there networking, dating, whatever it is, to get the things that you want.
  192. 14:14Rule number five is practice more with Eckhart Tolle.
  193. 14:17The greatest obstacle is probably
  194. 14:21When meditation comes out of a sense of lack or neediness, so you feel you are deprived of something, be it money or a relationship or a living situation, and you feel there's a great lack in your life and you desperately want this to change, and so you perhaps
  195. 14:50use manifestation in a way that is not likely to work when, for example, you use affirmations such as, I want a better job, I want a job with a good income and a life situation in a nice place, and I want this and I want that.
  196. 15:12By making these statements, you're actually, by implication, saying that you don't have it.
  197. 15:20So you're also, by saying that you're, there's a reverse side to your statement, I want, and on the reverse side of the statement, I want, there is the statement, I don't have, and I need.
  198. 15:37And similar things, please give me, if you pray to maybe God, maybe you pray to Jesus, maybe you pray to Buddha.
  199. 15:48They do that in Buddhist countries.
  200. 15:50Maybe you pray to a saint or whatever it is.
  201. 15:53Or you pray to the universe and say, please universe, please give me this, please give me that.
  202. 16:00That also doesn't work very well.
  203. 16:02If it works,
  204. 16:04It could be accidentally, who knows, but usually that greatly diminishes your power of manifestation because the manifestation practice arises out of a state of lack or neediness.
  205. 16:21So there's no powerful manifestation there.
  206. 16:25The secret of manifestation is expressed in one simple statement by Jesus and that encapsulates all the books that have been written on manifestation and will ever be written on manifestation.
  207. 16:43It's just one simple sentence.
  208. 16:44It says when you pray for something, believe that you
  209. 16:50That it has been given or that you already have it and then you will receive it.
  210. 16:56So the important thing is he doesn't say believe that you will receive it.
  211. 17:02He says believe that you have received it.
  212. 17:05So there the secret is hiding in that statement.
  213. 17:08Believe that you have received it.
  214. 17:11And rule number six, the last one before some very special bonus clips is change your beliefs with John Assaraf.
  215. 17:17At the end of your day or week, do you ever find yourself worried or frustrated because no matter how much effort you put in to work, and no matter how hard you work, your financial situation
  216. 17:34and your financial future may never seem to be improving, you might be finding yourself living paycheck to paycheck right now with not a lot of breathing room and I would imagine no discretionary income or even time to spend on the little things that really would make your life more enjoyable.
  217. 17:56Well, what I can share with you is you're not alone.
  218. 18:00That's number one.
  219. 18:01And in most cases, the real problem is not your current circumstances.
  220. 18:09What the real problem is that most people repeat the same
  221. 18:15patterns of thought and behaviors over and over again, and that is the cause of what?
  222. 18:24More of the same results, but they are looking for different results.
  223. 18:30And so today, I'm gonna show you how to break that pattern, break that cycle.
  224. 18:35Now you see, when you think of your results, your results are effects.
  225. 18:42And so the question is, effects of what?
  226. 18:45And the answer is your results are all effects of what you believe to be true about yourself, what you believe to be true that is possible, and it also comes down to what are your daily habits.
  227. 19:03Now,
  228. 19:04If you think about what you believe and if you think about your habits, that is what is causing the effect that you may not like right now.
  229. 19:14And so a simple, logical thing to do would be to understand that if I could change my beliefs about what was possible and what was possible for me specifically, and I could create more empowering habits, then my result will change.
  230. 19:33And what I love to focus on, having done an enormous amount of brain research over the last 10 years, is something called your inner game.
  231. 19:44And your inner game is comprised of obviously your beliefs, your attitude, your perceptions, how you see the world,
  232. 19:53and your inner game is also comprised of what causes you to take action.
  233. 20:00And so let me share just a little story with you that may help you understand what I mean.
  234. 20:06About two years ago, I was at a seminar.
  235. 20:09And when I got off the stage, this woman started walking towards me.
  236. 20:13And I could see she was somewhere in her 50s, maybe early 60s.
  237. 20:17She looked nice.
  238. 20:18She was a vibrant woman.
  239. 20:20She was walking right towards me.
  240. 20:22And I saw tears streaming down her eyes.
  241. 20:25And when she got through the crowd,
  242. 20:28For a moment, I thought that maybe there was something wrong, but she actually had tears of joy in her eyes.
  243. 20:34And when I met her, her name was Joni Sanderson, and this was in Perth, Australia.
  244. 20:40And she came up to me, she said, thank you so much.
  245. 20:43And I go, well, for what?
  246. 20:44She says, well,
  247. 20:46About a year ago, I heard you speak about beliefs and habits and mastering my emotions and really working on my self-worth.
  248. 20:56And she said to me that she was a caregiver and that she loved helping families who needed
  249. 21:02extra assistance for their aging parents or for their children who may need some additional help in the home.
  250. 21:08So she was a wonderful caregiver, but she was living on a widow's pension of about 12,000 Aussie dollars a year.
  251. 21:16And so she really didn't have enough money to be able to take
  252. 21:21the care of her grandkids that she wanted to, to be able to take her children on a vacation.
  253. 21:26And so I shared with her, why do you think that you're only earning $12,000 a year?
  254. 21:31And she said, I don't know.
  255. 21:33And when I shared with her that she possibly believed that that's what she was worth,
  256. 21:40And she said to me, well, I think I'm worth more.
  257. 21:42I said, well, you might be able to declare that you're worth more, but if at a deeper level of your brain, you have this feeling that maybe you're not smart enough or not good enough or not worthy enough,
  258. 21:58that is what is gonna drive your behavior.
  259. 22:01And so what I helped Joni do, prior to her coming to me and being in gratitude, was I helped her recognize that beliefs drive behavior.
  260. 22:13Beliefs drive emotions.
  261. 22:15Habits drive behavior.
  262. 22:17And in order to change your results, living paycheck to paycheck, being stressed out, worrying about your future or even your present circumstances right now, why not focus on working on the neural patterns, the beliefs and habits that are nothing more than patterns in the brain that drive 96 to 98% of your behavior.
  263. 22:41And so she started to work.
  264. 22:43on what I call a belief and habit modification program.
  265. 22:48And while she did this, she started to see herself in a different light.
  266. 22:53She started to feel more confident, more certain, and more empowered.
  267. 22:59And what I can share with you is she, at that moment, told me that she went from making $12,000 a year from a widow's pension and living paycheck to paycheck
  268. 23:11to being able to charge for her services as she was making $75,000 a year.
  269. 23:22You have no idea what you're capable of.
  270. 23:24You have no idea.
  271. 23:25You have no idea the person you could be, the things you could accomplish, the things you can do, the people you can serve.
  272. 23:30You have no idea.
  273. 23:31That's why I don't like 10-year goals.
  274. 23:3210-year goals.
  275. 23:33Think about who you used to be 10 years ago.
  276. 23:36Could that person accurately, with any degree of certainty, predict where you could be right now?
  277. 23:42No.
  278. 23:42If you're growing and you're learning and you're improving and you're expanding,
  279. 23:46You're investing in yourself.
  280. 23:47There's no way that you know where you're going to be in one year, let alone five years or 10 years.
  281. 23:51You have no idea what you're capable of.
  282. 23:53And so it comes down to questioning everything.
  283. 23:57To question what you can and can't do.
  284. 23:59You know, we're told the story growing up of what you should do and we're told everything, right?
  285. 24:04when to show up and where to go and what to wear and what to eat and what at what age you should get married and what kind of crew you should go into right we're told we should do all these things you're told you're like who you know nobody ever thought to ask us what we want for our lives and you may not even know and that's okay like you may know where you want to go next but you may not ultimately know the final destination it's awesome
  286. 24:25You know, I think if you know the final destination, you're thinking small.
  287. 24:27Apart from having a mission, you know?
  288. 24:30The mission, the purpose.
  289. 24:31Why do you do what you do?
  290. 24:32I want to solve the world's biggest problem.
  291. 24:34People don't believe in themselves enough.
  292. 24:35That's what I'm chasing down every day.
  293. 24:37Do I know where I'm going to be in a year?
  294. 24:39Nope.
  295. 24:40Am I still making videos?
  296. 24:42Probably.
  297. 24:42But who knows?
  298. 24:43Like question everything.
  299. 24:44I want people to believe in themselves more.
  300. 24:46What's the best way to do that?
  301. 24:47Right now, it's through YouTube.
  302. 24:50But I think a lot of times people have...
  303. 24:54too certain of a plan and then they end up playing small because there's nothing wrong with having goals and plans but sometimes you need to jump off that if you have a 10-year goal quite often you need to jump off that goal two years in because something better has come along that actually better serves who you are right now because the goal you set was for who you used to be
  304. 25:15Have you felt that?
  305. 25:17I'm here at Genius Network and this is a group of super successful entrepreneurs that meets once a month and masterminds and talk about their business and pay a lot of money to be a part of something like this.
  306. 25:29Every time I'm around people who are having a high degree of success, I always try to have them pick me apart.
  307. 25:39So when we do, there's an exercise called hot seats where you go around the table and you basically share what your biggest, what you think your biggest problem is.
  308. 25:49And whenever it gets to my turn, I just want people to ask me questions because your biggest problem is you don't know what your biggest problem is.
  309. 26:00Your biggest problem is you don't know what your biggest problem is.
  310. 26:02If you knew what your biggest problem was, you can go and solve it.
  311. 26:06For entrepreneurs, for ambitious people, you've got goals.
  312. 26:09You don't know what the real problem is.
  313. 26:12The problem you think you have is a problem.
  314. 26:14The problem you think you have, yes, very much is a problem, but there's a deeper problem underneath it that you're missing.
  315. 26:20that I'm missing.
  316. 26:22So this is where questioning everything becomes important.
  317. 26:24My default has become, instead of pretending like I know everything and I know all my problems, that I don't know anything and ask me questions.
  318. 26:33And in the process of asking me questions and learning about me, maybe you come with some insight that I've never seen before.
  319. 26:42Everybody has their own way of processing giving advice.
  320. 26:46You know, so I'm around people here.
  321. 26:48Everybody here has a seven or eight figure or nine figure business and people here have sold their businesses for nine figures.
  322. 26:56Crazy.
  323. 26:57Awesome.
  324. 26:58And so they have their own way of processing things and asking questions and breaking somebody down.
  325. 27:08So instead of me coming in with
  326. 27:11the question and having them try to fit into my box, I'd rather fit into theirs.
  327. 27:16Because in trying to understand how they process things, it'll probably make me stretch and grow and learn.
  328. 27:23And I'm probably gonna get a better result because they're gonna see something that I don't see.
  329. 27:28And so in the process of questioning everything,
  330. 27:32when people can break you down and you're open to it, right?
  331. 27:36Because we hold on to our identity.
  332. 27:37Like, no, no, that's not gonna work for me.
  333. 27:40Even, oh, got a bee.
  334. 27:43I am allergic to bees.
  335. 27:45Maybe I should question that.
  336. 27:47I don't feel like questioning that today though.
  337. 27:50Do not want to get stung by a bee.
  338. 27:51I once got stung by a bee and only time in my life I've been stung by a bee and I was on the floor and my back just swelled up from the bee sting.
  339. 28:05Anyway, maybe question everything except bee stings.
  340. 28:07How about that?
  341. 28:09There's been times when people have given me advice and it made sense and it really fit.
  342. 28:13And sometimes when it didn't, and even if it doesn't make sense, what I'll default in my head to saying is this is either nothing, like the person didn't read me correctly, or it's the whole thing.
  343. 28:29Think about it, if you're really opposed to somebody's advice or feedback for you.
  344. 28:32If somebody gives you great advice, you go, wow, that's really cool, I should go and do that, cool.
  345. 28:35They met you where you were at and you understand it.
  346. 28:39But there'll be other times when it doesn't feel right.
  347. 28:43And it could be that it just wasn't a fit and they're giving you the wrong advice, or you're so blind, and this is what,
  348. 28:52gets me excited is maybe I'm so blind.
  349. 28:55Maybe I believe my story so much that the thing that you're talking about is actually the whole thing.
  350. 29:02Like it's all I should care about because figuring out how to solve that because I'm so tied to my own story that I'm not questioning enough.
  351. 29:09I'm coming back to the B spot.
  352. 29:11Hopefully it's gone.
  353. 29:12I'm not questioning enough.
  354. 29:15And figuring that out becomes the whole unlock.
  355. 29:17So a quick story on this.
  356. 29:19I did a life coaching session with Gary Vee's lead coach, Beth Handel.
  357. 29:23And at first I was shocked.
  358. 29:25I didn't know Gary Vee had a life coach.
  359. 29:27And so I was very excited to talk to her.
  360. 29:28And just like I've been explaining in this video, I went through her process.
  361. 29:33How do you ask questions?
  362. 29:34What do you want to know about me?
  363. 29:35I don't want it to be, if this is a coaching session, just treat me as a client.
  364. 29:39Treat me as somebody who you're going to coach.
  365. 29:41What do you need to know from my story and how I act?
  366. 29:44I'm going to be as open and as honest as possible.
  367. 29:47What it led to was a lot of the stuff she was saying was great, but my single biggest insight and takeaway was this, and I'm practicing this every single day now.
  368. 29:59The one takeaway that has honestly changed my life.
  369. 30:02Historically, I've been the person who believes in the plan.
  370. 30:07So what's my plan to get to the next step?
  371. 30:09Like, I wanna go here, what's my plan?
  372. 30:10What's my plan, what's my plan?
  373. 30:12So I have the belief in the plan.
  374. 30:14And I wake up every day and I just do the plan, because I believe in the plan.
  375. 30:18I'll have some days where I don't believe in the plan anymore.
  376. 30:20Like, will this plan help get me anywhere?
  377. 30:23Is this plan still working?
  378. 30:24Like, it's not working anymore.
  379. 30:25And that leads to some anxiety for me because I believe in the plan.
  380. 30:29And when the plan doesn't work, what happens?
  381. 30:31And so what I'll end up doing is making a new plan.
  382. 30:34So I have a plan, I believe in a plan until I don't believe in it anymore, causes anxiety, come up with a new plan.
  383. 30:40You following?
  384. 30:42So in creating a new plan, then I have certainty in the plan again and I'm fine and I'm rocking and rolling.
  385. 30:46But there are some days, there are some days when I can't come up with a new plan.
  386. 30:52The plan I have, I don't believe in anymore and I'm rocking my brain to come up with a new plan and I can't come up with a new plan.
  387. 30:59If I'm the kind of person who believes in the plan, and then I can't come up with a new plan, that's a really stress-inducing, anxiety-filled place to be.
  388. 31:07And it doesn't happen that often.
  389. 31:10But when it does, and I can't come up with a new plan, especially in the moment, well, what I would end up telling myself is, great things happened to me.
  390. 31:18You know what?
  391. 31:19You know what happened?
  392. 31:19Great things happened to you.
  393. 31:21And I would use it as a self-soothing mechanism, as a coping mechanism,
  394. 31:27because I didn't want to just stay locked in that stress and it would be a downward spiral.
  395. 31:33If I believe in the plan and the plan's not working and I can't come up with a new plan, then I don't know what to do with my life.
  396. 31:39And that would create a downward spiral.
  397. 31:41I've never gone anywhere close to depression or suicide, but that could lead to some dark places.
  398. 31:47And so the way that I come out of it is just say, great things will happen to me.
  399. 31:50Great things happen to me.
  400. 31:51They always happen to me.
  401. 31:52Great things happen to me.
  402. 31:54And I'll figure this out.
  403. 31:55And that gives me the comfort to...
  404. 31:58move forward into the uncertainty and then something will come that I will solve it.
  405. 32:03And what she said was Gary V's life coach was what you say to yourself when you need that self soothing of great things happen to you needs to be your default state.
  406. 32:20So instead of believing in the plan as your default state and only going to great things happen to you when you are at the lowest of your low, flip it to the point where great things happen to you is the default.
  407. 32:32Because that's where you're actually your best self.
  408. 32:35And I really felt that.
  409. 32:37I don't know how to do it.
  410. 32:39But even in questioning how do I do it,
  411. 32:42I just have to believe that great things happen to me.
  412. 32:44So a big part of my routine now is, I don't know how many times I'll say that to myself, feel that great things happen to me.
  413. 32:52I'm gonna put it as my new cell phone background.
  414. 32:55It's a constant reminder.
  415. 32:57Even making this video is another reinforcement of it.
  416. 33:00When people ask me what my goals are, there's been these exercises we've been doing in Genius Network here, and I just keep reminding myself, I don't know, I don't have a 10-year goal.
  417. 33:10Great things happen to me.
  418. 33:12It's a constant reminder.
  419. 33:13And I used to live it before this awareness, I don't know, like how many times would I feel really down and low and anxiety filled that I couldn't come up with a new plan?
  420. 33:26Maybe half of 1% of the time, like really small amounts.
  421. 33:30And now I'm probably living and great things happen to me maybe
  422. 33:345% of the time, 10% of the time, which is a huge jump from half of 1%, but it's still not my default mode yet.
  423. 33:40I'm still a believe in the plan guy.
  424. 33:42That's my ongoing challenge to myself.
  425. 33:45That's how I'm questioning.
  426. 33:47It's the willingness to question what you're doing.
  427. 33:49Because what you're doing right now has gotten you to where you're at.
  428. 33:52And if you're happy with where you're at, cool.
  429. 33:54But if you want more, you want to create more, you want to serve more, you want to bring more, you want to help more, you want more.
  430. 34:00You wanna change and you have to change.
  431. 34:02And the change starts with not just questioning everything out there, question everything in here.
  432. 34:08Questioning what you believe to be true, question who you think you are, questioning for sure what you think you're capable of.
  433. 34:17Because when you can get to the root of that, amazing things can happen.
  434. 34:21Is your financial governor holding you back from doubling or tripling your income in the next six to 12 months?
  435. 34:29Now, you may be asking, John, what in the world is a financial governor?
  436. 34:34And I'll explain it this way.
  437. 34:36Many years ago, when the car companies were building engines that were faster and stronger and more resilient, cars could go 200, 250 miles an hour, some maybe even to 300 miles an hour.
  438. 34:48But because of laws in Europe and in the United States, these governors were put on the engine so that the car, even though it can go faster and perform even better,
  439. 35:00it was limited to about 155 miles per hour.
  440. 35:05So here we are, we have these cars that can go extremely fast, but for obvious reasons, to conserve on gas, to be able to have more safety on the roads, and to keep us generally all driving around the same speed limit, we created these governors to put on engines in order to limit the speed at which the car can go at.
  441. 35:26Well, what does that have to do with you earning more money, you accumulating more wealth?
  442. 35:32And the answer is everything.
  443. 35:35If you understand that you have a conscious brain that wants to set goals, but you have a subconscious mind that is going to limit your thoughts, emotions, feelings, and behaviors to what you are governed by, which is your subconscious mind, then here's one of the things that we have discovered.
  444. 35:57People who make $30,000 a year or 50 or 100 or $500,000 a year or a million dollars a year or more, their financial governor is set at a totally different setting than somebody who's earning less.
  445. 36:12So why does this make a difference?
  446. 36:14Well, it makes a difference because there's a part of your brain that chooses the goal that you want to achieve, and there's another part of your brain that's responsible for everything else.
  447. 36:25Your thoughts, emotions, feelings, and behaviors.
  448. 36:28And so, if you don't have coherence between these two parts of your brain, if you don't know how to remove the governor and reset it,
  449. 36:38chances are you're gonna have goals and dreams, financial ones, and even lifestyle ones, that you're not going to achieve, not because you're not capable of doing it, it's just because you are wired, set, conditioned, programmed, whatever you wanna call it, to earn the income you're earning right now, and maybe a little bit more each day, each week, each month, versus doubling or tripling or quintupling your income.
  450. 37:05Now let me give you a different visual for this that'll hopefully cement what I mean.
  451. 37:09Let's say you're in a room that has a thermostat in there, and the thermostat is set to a nice and comfortable 70 degrees, and you feel nice at that temperature.
  452. 37:21What happens if you open up a window, and let's say it's winter, and cold air comes in?
  453. 37:28Well, what happens is the mechanism in the thermostat that picks up what the temperature is in the room picks up a deviation that cold air has come in the room.
  454. 37:39And what does it do?
  455. 37:40It sends a signal through the electrical system for the heater to go on so that the room gets back to 70 degrees.
  456. 37:48That's called a cybernetic mechanism, a control and respond mechanism that occurs in machines that we create them in
  457. 37:56or in animals like us.
  458. 37:59So whether it's hot air coming into a room or cold air coming into a room, any deviation from the set program activates the air conditioning or the heat until the program and the room are one and the same.
  459. 38:14That is a cybernetic mechanism, as I mentioned, and here's what happens in us humans.
  460. 38:19If you're used to earning 30,000 or 50,000, 75, 100 or 200 or more, or you are used to a certain lifestyle, any deviation up or down from that setting, that comfort zone, that programming,
  461. 38:35kicks in your nervous system so that you either turn up the jets and earn more based on what you're used to, or if you do really well for a week, a month, a quarter, you actually back off and sabotage your success until you meet the setting that you have in your mind.
  462. 38:55That is how a governor works in a car.
  463. 38:58That's how a governor works in your brain.
  464. 39:02If you want to double or triple your income in the next six months, 12 months, two years, doesn't it make sense that you should reset your financial governor, the expectation point, the programming, the conditioning?
  465. 39:18Well, of course it does.
  466. 39:20What I've seen in my years of training, whether it's salespeople or entrepreneurs or individuals to make more money, is the ones that think that they could do it just by gaining more knowledge miss the point because there's a part of our brain that gains more knowledge but doesn't change behavior.
  467. 39:40What you have to do is reprogram your financial set point, your conditioning, the expectation point,
  468. 39:47And when you do that and you create this coherence between your goal and your dream and your subconscious programming, that is when your behavior starts to change.
  469. 39:58That is when fears dissipate.
  470. 40:00That is when you stop procrastinating.
  471. 40:02That is when you take inspired action and you don't sabotage the success that you are achieving.
  472. 40:10So in order to achieve your goals and dreams, you have to reset your governor, reset your financial thermostat.
  473. 40:18When it comes to an affirmation, affirmations can be powerful.
  474. 40:24And for some people, they're not.
  475. 40:27And a lot of people say, well, you know, if the affirmation is so powerful, how come I'm not experiencing the effect?
  476. 40:34What scientists tell us is the average human
  477. 40:37speaks to themselves, consciously or unconsciously.
  478. 40:40We have thoughts spinning around in our brain, about 60 to 80,000 thoughts per day.
  479. 40:46Some of those thoughts are the words to the songs, and they are the affirmations.
  480. 40:52Neuroscientist Andrew Neuberg tells us, Neuberg is his name, I'm sorry, in...
  481. 40:57in his work that a single word, a single word has the power to change the genes that create stress or relieve stress in our lives.
  482. 41:10He's telling us that something within us has the ability to shift the very core of our expression.
  483. 41:19So we know that words are powerful.
  484. 41:22the key to a successful affirmation is that we must communicate with the subconscious part of our of our mind number one number two we must communicate in the language that the subconscious recognizes and this is where uh you know you can say
  485. 41:41I had a friend of mine when I was working in the corporations that had affirmations all over his office, all over his computer screen.
  486. 41:48They were on little post-it notes in the car we would carpool in.
  487. 41:51You know, my perfect mate is manifesting for me now.
  488. 41:54My perfect mate is manifesting for me now.
  489. 41:56That was his affirmation.
  490. 41:58And I said, do you say these things?
  491. 41:59He goes, oh man, I say them about a million times a day.
  492. 42:01I said, do they work for you?
  493. 42:02He says, nah.
  494. 42:04You know, these things don't work.
  495. 42:06And I said, why do you think they don't work?
  496. 42:08And he said, look at me.
  497. 42:09He says, I'm an engineer.
  498. 42:10I'm a slob.
  499. 42:12He said, I wear the same clothes to work three out of five days during the week, you know.
  500. 42:18And the bottom line, by the time he finished describing himself to me, even he didn't believe that he was worthy of his perfect mate manifesting for him now.
  501. 42:28So he was saying the words.
  502. 42:30But the underlying emotion and what he was actually feeding into his system was counter to what those words were saying.
  503. 42:41So it's not enough to say the words.
  504. 42:44When we go into our most ancient and cherished spiritual traditions, those words are what become the prayers.
  505. 42:51And for many people, and I know you've heard this as well, a lot of people feel that prayer is broken, that the world doesn't work today the way it worked in biblical times, that we have lost our power and that we have no ability to communicate with a greater power, with God, with the forces around us.
  506. 43:11And it's largely because the secrets
  507. 43:15the deep truth of our relationship, the fundamental physics of our relationship to our world have been minced, and parceled, and in many cases deleted from the texts, leaving us with a sense that we are essentially powerless beings.
  508. 43:35And if you are powerless, then you are a victim.
  509. 43:37And if you're a victim, you need a savior.
  510. 43:40And that savior is coming to us on a silver plate in terms of technology, in terms of political leaders.
  511. 43:47I will save you if you just do these things.
  512. 43:50And this is why I say I think one of the most powerful acts and the most radical act we can do is to think for ourselves original thinking based upon the deep truth
  513. 44:03of our relationship to our bodies in the earth not based upon the false assumptions of obsolete science that permeate our academic world right now it's one of the reasons i left academia it's one of the reasons many of my colleagues who are in this genre who are very well respected scientists have left
  514. 44:23academia because they were not allowed to share with students and in their writings and their papers what they had found in their research that reflects a very different reality.
  515. 44:35For me, it's good news.
  516. 44:38It's a beautiful message of hope and possibility as a sovereign biological being.
  517. 44:46For a system that's based on centralized power and control, it's probably the worst news they could imagine because it means we don't need the centralized power and control.
  518. 44:56I think ultimately we're all better off by embracing our own power because it frees us from the fear of a changing world.
  519. 45:05And we all know our world, my world is changing, your world is changing.
  520. 45:09Boy, is it ever faster than we can document it in our classrooms and textbooks.
  521. 45:15But the change isn't necessarily bad until we compare it to what we've known in the past.
  522. 45:23And this is where the fear comes in.
  523. 45:25So the new discoveries helping us to understand we are part of rather than separate from our world.
  524. 45:33And this is where the affirmations come in.
  525. 45:39I was at the CERN Superconducting Super Collider in Geneva, Switzerland, where the physics experiments that are revealing what happened moments after our universe began.
  526. 45:51They recreate...
  527. 45:53the beginning of our universe, and then they're able to document what happened then to create the laws of physics that we are experiencing, that we're living under right now.
  528. 46:04And what they announced in 2012 is that there is in fact a field, an intelligent field of energy, it's a subtle energy that underlies all of creation.
  529. 46:18Before then, it was a metaphor, or a lot of people felt like it was a New Age concept, you know, we are all one, everything is connected.
  530. 46:25Or an indigenous, you know, a lot of indigenous elders talk about this.
  531. 46:29Here's where they got stuck.
  532. 46:32And I've gone to scientific conferences where they'll take their hands and they'll say, oh yeah, that's no longer controversial.
  533. 46:38There is a field, there's a field out there that connects all things and their hands go like this.
  534. 46:43There's a field out there that connects all things because subconsciously they're still saying we're separate from that field.
  535. 46:50But here's what the science is showing us and this was a game changer for me.
  536. 46:55Just a mind blower that every atom
  537. 46:58in every molecule and every cell of our bodies in this very instant.
  538. 47:03So it's not like it's about to happen.
  539. 47:05It's happening right now.
  540. 47:06Every atom is constantly emerging and collapsing into that field.
  541. 47:12And what that says to us is that we are the field.
  542. 47:16It's not the fields out there.
  543. 47:18We literally are wrinkles.
  544. 47:19We are disturbances.
  545. 47:21in this field this this body that is held in place by a conscious awareness as long as i'm breathing on this earth i am a disturbance i'm a localized wrinkle in that field and what that means is that if i want to bring about change in my world i don't have to force a change out there i become that change
  546. 47:42And as I have become that change, the field is now reflecting what it is because I'm part of the field.
  547. 47:52So it's subtle, but it's a very powerful way, a very different way of thinking.
  548. 47:56You're not imposing change on the world around you.
  549. 48:00You are becoming the change.
  550. 48:02So you're becoming the abundance.
  551. 48:04You're becoming the love, the gratitude, the care.
  552. 48:08the healing.
  553. 48:10You're becoming those things and that is very different.
  554. 48:12We're conditioned to ask for them, to plead for them because we're led to feel powerless in our lives when in fact there are modalities of ancient prayer that were edited
  555. 48:26from the religious texts in the fourth century by the church.
  556. 48:29They took out the information helping us to understand this deep relationship, leaving us powerless.
  557. 48:37And affirmations are essentially a form of prayer.
  558. 48:43or prayer as a form of affirmation, however you want to look at it, where we are communicating.
  559. 48:50And I want to be really clear, it's not about control, it's not about manipulation, it's not about imposing our will, it's about participating in the way that this field unfolds and expresses in our lives.
  560. 49:02And when you really begin to get that shift,
  561. 49:05It's subtle and it's powerful.
  562. 49:07It's not making something happen out there.
  563. 49:11And that means you can't blame what's out there for your experiences.
  564. 49:15I come from a very dysfunctional, broken family, and I had to make a choice early in life and community as to whether or not I would allow that to define me.
  565. 49:28my experience to define my existence.
  566. 49:31Other people around me had the same experience and they made very different choices.
  567. 49:36They, today, continue to blame their environment, their parents, their family, their upbringing,
  568. 49:44for the sad and unfortunate things in their lives.
  569. 49:47And that's a path.
  570. 49:48It's not right, wrong, good or bad, but we have a choice to make another path.
  571. 49:53And when we began as a scientist, beginning to understand these relationships gave me the reason to think differently.
  572. 50:01And it also gave me the reason to test in my life if those thoughts are really true or not, what works and what doesn't.
  573. 50:09Just give yourself permission
  574. 50:12to want the things that you want.
  575. 50:14And unless you believe that you're worthy, unless that you practice love, you're never gonna think that you deserve the things that you want.
  576. 50:22Right, so tell the story.
  577. 50:26Okay, so I'm probably gonna sob hysterically.
  578. 50:29I'll shorten it, I'll shorten it.
  579. 50:31So the bottom line is that, so in 1990, I was a senior in college at Dartmouth and my parents came to visit from Western Michigan.
  580. 50:41And we went to this place called Simon Pierce, which is a famous glass blowing mill.
  581. 50:47And as we walked into the restaurant, I had an experience.
  582. 50:50that you may be able to relate to.
  583. 50:52And that is, I walked in and I immediately saw this painting hanging on the wall.
  584. 50:57And it was about the size of a door, only horizontal.
  585. 51:00And it was a Vermont landscape.
  586. 51:02And I was drawn into it immediately.
  587. 51:04Like I was no longer in that restaurant.
  588. 51:06I was standing in that field.
  589. 51:08I could feel that breeze.
  590. 51:09I'd never ever had an experience like that with a painting.
  591. 51:13Have you ever had an experience like that with art?
  592. 51:14No, I mean,
  593. 51:16Not like that, not like that.
  594. 51:18I mean, yeah, my sense was that this is very atypical for you.
  595. 51:21Very.
  596. 51:22So I kind of lost it.
  597. 51:27The restaurant was quiet and then I leaned back and suddenly kind of back in the moment, I'm like, I'm gonna own this painting someday.
  598. 51:35It just, that was what was right there.
  599. 51:37And I looked at the price and it said like $3,000.
  600. 51:39I'm like, not today.
  601. 51:41And I went back and I sat down and that was it.
  602. 51:43but the painting never left my mind.
  603. 51:45You see, there's something called the Zeiginarch effect.
  604. 51:48I always say it wrong, but it's like there's a checklist in your brain that when you have a moment where you're like, this is important, your brain puts it on a checklist.
  605. 51:59Yeah, there's like a notch.
  606. 52:00Yes, a notch happens.
  607. 52:02And now your brain as part of the filter in the brain is always gonna be kind of scanning the subconscious to let anything into your mind related to that incident.
  608. 52:12It can be positive, by the way, like with the painting, or this is how trauma happens too.
  609. 52:16Like you have this high intensity emotional experience that notches something in your brain, and now your brain kicks in to remember.
  610. 52:24So bottom line is, I always thought about that painting.
  611. 52:30Years go by.
  612. 52:31Whenever somebody would say Vermont, I'd think of the painting.
  613. 52:35I don't know why, I can't explain it.
  614. 52:37Never wanted a painting before, was not an art student.
  615. 52:39It's going to law school.
  616. 52:40It's not like you're out collecting art.
  617. 52:42No, no, no, no.
  618. 52:44And so I, you know, fast forward the story 10 years and my, Chris and I are engaged and we're going to go up to Vermont to see the leaves.
  619. 52:53And immediately I'm like, we got to go to Simon Pierce.
  620. 52:56I got to show you the painting.
  621. 52:57So we pull up to the mill and we walk in and right in front, there is boom, a painting by the same artist, Gail Shepard.
  622. 53:03And I'm like, oh my God, it's here.
  623. 53:04And we race all around the place and it's gone.
  624. 53:09And the funny thing was, and this is the way your brain works, Chris was more disappointed than I was.
  625. 53:15I literally turned to him and said, it's okay, dude.
  626. 53:17Like, it'd be weird if we're still here after 10 years.
  627. 53:19I'm going to track this thing down.
  628. 53:21I actually said to him, you know what's going to happen, Chris?
  629. 53:23I'm going to be able to buy this like 40 years from now.
  630. 53:26It's going to be hanging in the corporate lobby of some building.
  631. 53:30And I'm going to have to track down the owner and pay like quadruple the money they paid.
  632. 53:33But I'm going to own this damn thing.
  633. 53:34You have a mission now, though.
  634. 53:35I have a mission, yes.
  635. 53:36So a couple of years pass and it's my birthday.
  636. 53:40I think I was turning 30 and Chris says, Chris gets a couple of people to,
  637. 53:45Give money.
  638. 53:46And he said, I could buy anything I wanted with it.
  639. 53:48So I had what, 500 bucks.
  640. 53:50Now I'm pregnant at the time with our first kid.
  641. 53:53I should have bought a crib or stools, but for whatever reason, the Zeig and arc effect takes over.
  642. 53:57And I'm like the painting.
  643. 53:59So I call the mill and I get this guy on the phone.
  644. 54:03I'm like, you know, I want to buy a kale shepherd piece.
  645. 54:06And I said, could you send me Polaroids?
  646. 54:08And he's like, sure.
  647. 54:09And I tell him the budget and he goes, I'll send you Polaroids of some of her smaller things.
  648. 54:14Because she's like blowing up in the meantime, right?
  649. 54:16Yeah, she's a very, very successful Vermont landscape artist.
  650. 54:20And so I say to him, you know, by the way, there's this one painting.
  651. 54:28And I describe the painting I'd seen over 10 years ago.
  652. 54:32And he said, well, that was way before my time, but I bet Gail will know.
  653. 54:36And I'm like, Gail, you know Gail?
  654. 54:38He's like, of course I know Gail.
  655. 54:39She like lives down the road.
  656. 54:42Here's her number.
  657. 54:44So for two days, I paced around the apartment with 500 bucks in my pocket, driving Chris crazy.
  658. 54:48Because I felt like, what am I going to say to her?
  659. 54:50And I must be a weirdo.
  660. 54:51I've been stalking this lady.
  661. 54:52I've been thinking about her for 10 years.
  662. 54:54I can't afford a painting.
  663. 54:55You know, who am I to buy a painting?
  664. 54:57Like, what the hell?
  665. 55:00So finally, Chris is like, would you...
  666. 55:01I'm gonna call her, you're driving me crazy.
  667. 55:03So I call her and I start talking a mile a minute and she was amazing.
  668. 55:09And then I said, by the way, there is this one painting.
  669. 55:13And I go and I explain this painting.
  670. 55:15There's a stand of poplar trees down the center and a big mountain scape behind it and this beautiful blue Vermont sky and geese flying in formation overhead.
  671. 55:25And I could hear her thinking on the other end of the line.
  672. 55:29And she said, you know, Mel, I've done so many large scale paintings over the years, I'd hate to mistake the one you're talking about.
  673. 55:38But I'll tell you what, what if my husband and I meet you and Chris at the mill at Simon Pierce?
  674. 55:45And we'll walk all around and have lunch.
  675. 55:46And I'll tell you the stories behind every painting.
  676. 55:49And if you don't see what you like there, I'll take you back to my studio, which is a couple miles down the river.
  677. 55:54And you can look at everything I'm working on.
  678. 55:55And if you don't see anything you like there, then you can go through all my slides and see if you can find that painting that you saw 10 years ago.
  679. 56:02And I said, deal.
  680. 56:03So a month passes, we go up to the mill, I walk in, we meet each other, she's amazing.
  681. 56:09She's like twice our age, just incredibly cool lady.
  682. 56:12She's walking around, as we're walking around looking at these paintings, Rich, I've got, I'm like eight months pregnant.
  683. 56:17I'm realizing these are 10 times the amount of money that I have.
  684. 56:23I can't afford this.
  685. 56:26Like, I don't have this kind of money.
  686. 56:30And I'm getting like more and more into that imposter syndrome.
  687. 56:34What am I doing mode?
  688. 56:35Oh my God, I'm so embarrassed.
  689. 56:37I'm meeting somebody I idolize.
  690. 56:37meeting somebody I idolize I don't
  691. 56:39deserve to be here right wasting her
  692. 56:41time because she thinks she's going to
  693. 56:42get a Payday out of this correct we sit
  694. 56:45down
  695. 56:45and she goes now that you're sitting
  696. 56:47down I have something to tell you
  697. 56:54um
  698. 56:57she said there's only been two times in
  699. 57:00my career as an artist
  700. 57:02that I've done two studies of the same
  701. 57:05peace
  702. 57:07And your painting is one of them.
  703. 57:10It's one of a pair.
  704. 57:13She knew all along.
  705. 57:14She knew all along.
  706. 57:15She was playing games with you about not knowing which painting.
  707. 57:18Yeah, and she said, the sister piece to the one that you saw all those years ago is sitting in my studio right now where it's been for the past 11 years.
  708. 57:29I start sobbing.
  709. 57:30Everybody's like totally emotional.
  710. 57:32Her husband's like, you should have seen her when she was on the phone with you.
  711. 57:36It was like she saw a ghost.
  712. 57:38So we get in the car and we drive to the mill.
  713. 57:42And when we walk in, there in the center of this massive kind of barn studio space is an easel with a painting taped up with painter's tape on it.
  714. 57:52And it was the sister to my painting.
  715. 57:55There were slight differences, not as much movement in the grass, but it was...
  716. 58:01one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life it was as if time suspended and i was standing before that painting in 1990 saying it would be mine and there i was 11 years later standing in front of it and then i realized oh my god i can't afford this
  717. 58:24And Chris walks over and he's like, what's wrong?
  718. 58:26And I'm like, just promise me someday, like promise me that I don't need a jewelry.
  719. 58:31I don't need a car.
  720. 58:31Like, just promise me you will buy me this thing.
  721. 58:34And he kind of leans over and goes, hey, Gail, how much for the big one?
  722. 58:38And she said, Mel can have it for 500 bucks because clearly when I was making it 11 years ago, I was making it for her.
  723. 58:51And so it hangs in my kitchen.
  724. 58:54It's on the back of the book.
  725. 58:56This is the galley though, right?
  726. 58:58So wait, is it in the- I think so, yeah.
  727. 59:00Yeah.
  728. 59:01And it's a reminder every day that your mind is designed to help you get what you want.
  729. 59:09I never stopped believing that I could make it happen.
  730. 59:13And when you tell your mind what's important to you, there is extraordinary science
  731. 59:20that proves that your mind has a live and ever-changing filter, a live network that changes how it views the world, what it lets in, what it blocks out.
  732. 59:33And if you program your mind correctly, and if you're clear about what you want to create, your mind will help you get what you want.
  733. 59:42When you have a goal in your head, it's not even a goal, it's a fantasy, it's a dream.
  734. 59:48When you have a book like this, you can call it your goal book, and you write out your goals and you go through, I'm just about to take you through bit by bit, stage by stage, you go back to that, but you can look at it, you can touch it, you can just make it real.
  735. 1:00:02So remember, if you do not write out your goals as a plan and write out how to accomplish them, you don't have a goal.
  736. 1:00:12You have a wish, you have a dream, you have a daydream.
  737. 1:00:16If you want a goal, get a pen, get a nice little book like this.
  738. 1:00:19You can do it on your phone too.
  739. 1:00:21You can make a document in your computer and be prepared to make your goals real.
  740. 1:00:28So let's start now.
  741. 1:00:31Get your book, pause this if you need to go and find one, create one, and I want you to pick a goal, and do not even start with, I want to lose five pounds, I want more money.
  742. 1:00:40These are what I call wishy-washy goals, no.
  743. 1:00:44If you can make your goals real, you might as well make them huge, big, enormous, phenomenal.
  744. 1:00:50So if you say, well, I want more money, that's my goal.
  745. 1:00:53I could go, oh, hang on a minute.
  746. 1:00:55Hey, I've got $10 here.
  747. 1:00:56There you go.
  748. 1:00:57You go, well, that's not my goal.
  749. 1:00:59But you said, I want more money.
  750. 1:01:02And I learned this when I used to work with women who were infertile.
  751. 1:01:05They'd come in and they'd go, you know, I just want to be pregnant.
  752. 1:01:08I want to be pregnant so bad.
  753. 1:01:11If I was just pregnant, I'd go, well, as I look at your notes, you've been pregnant six times.
  754. 1:01:16I know, I keep miscarrying.
  755. 1:01:19So being pregnant is not your goal, is it?
  756. 1:01:21What?
  757. 1:01:23Isn't your goal to carry, to full-term a healthy, robust, bouncing baby, to deliver a perfect baby, to be a great mom?
  758. 1:01:31Yeah, that's my goal.
  759. 1:01:32Well, why don't you say that?
  760. 1:01:35Because you can be pregnant lots of times and never have a baby, or you can say, my goal is to have a perfect baby.
  761. 1:01:43How about this?
  762. 1:01:44My goal is to get lots of attention.
  763. 1:01:46For what?
  764. 1:01:47A nervous twitch?
  765. 1:01:49Explosive gas?
  766. 1:01:50That will give you attention, but that's not what you want, is it?
  767. 1:01:53Nobody wants explosive gas.
  768. 1:01:55So let's start with a big goal.
  769. 1:01:57Pause if you need to.
  770. 1:02:00Take some time, open your book, and write out a big goal.
  771. 1:02:04Now, you can have a career goal on whatever.
  772. 1:02:07I'm going to have my own company, create my own business, invent something.
  773. 1:02:11You can have a relationship goal.
  774. 1:02:12My relationship is wonderful.
  775. 1:02:14We grow in loving and respecting each other.
  776. 1:02:17And you can have a health goal.
  777. 1:02:19But I want you to pick one, only one, not three, not five, not 10, one goal.
  778. 1:02:24It can be career, it can be health, it can be love.
  779. 1:02:28Pick one goal.
  780. 1:02:30And then I want you to decide why you want that goal so much.
  781. 1:02:36So the first thing is, I have a goal.
  782. 1:02:38I want to have my own business, that's my goal.
  783. 1:02:41And now you're going to go to the next page and write out why do you want to have your own business so much.
  784. 1:02:47And the more reasoned you can write out why, the more likely you will make that goal real.
  785. 1:02:54So write down why.
  786. 1:02:55Write down as many whys as you can and remember
  787. 1:02:59You can come back any time to this and think, oh, I thought of another why and another why.
  788. 1:03:05So leave plenty of space, take your time, and when you've done your whys, go to another page and write out
  789. 1:03:14Who will benefit from you achieving that goal?
  790. 1:03:17Of course you will, but who?
  791. 1:03:19Who will benefit?
  792. 1:03:20For instance, if you have your own business, you will employ people who will benefit.
  793. 1:03:26Maybe your kids will go to private school.
  794. 1:03:29Maybe your business will allow you to help your partner have their business.
  795. 1:03:33The more people who will benefit from you achieving your goal, the more reasons you have
  796. 1:03:41to achieve that goal.
  797. 1:03:42So write out who will benefit from you achieving a goal.
  798. 1:03:47Who, how, and why will they benefit?
  799. 1:03:50You're going to buy your mom a house, put your niece and nephew through private school.
  800. 1:03:56What do you think of your mind as like the genie in a bottle that says, your wish is my command?
  801. 1:04:03And I want you to understand that every thought you think and every word you say is a blueprint that your mind, body, and psyche must make real.
  802. 1:04:14So when you write out your goals, don't say, I wish I could be rich.
  803. 1:04:19I long to be in a loving relationship.
  804. 1:04:22Write it as if it's already happening.
  805. 1:04:24I am a millionaire.
  806. 1:04:26I am in a loving relationship.
  807. 1:04:28You might go, well, that doesn't make sense.
  808. 1:04:30It does make sense because your mind only works in the present tense.
  809. 1:04:35When you say, next year I'll have a bikini body, it doesn't know what next year is.
  810. 1:04:41And so you must write your goals in the present tense.
  811. 1:04:44I am, I always, I have, I do.
  812. 1:04:47This new page is about your discipline.
  813. 1:04:51How many hours a day are you going to spend working on your goal?
  814. 1:04:57How often are you going to come back to this book and look at it?
  815. 1:05:00I want you to write out, I am, I always, I have, I do, and I want you to fill that in.
  816. 1:05:09You see, the best goal in the world will not work if you don't work, and many people fail at this point.
  817. 1:05:15They write out a goal,
  818. 1:05:17My goal is to be a millionaire.
  819. 1:05:20My goal is to be famous.
  820. 1:05:22My goal is to be wildly in love.
  821. 1:05:24And they think that's it.
  822. 1:05:26It's not it.
  823. 1:05:27If you want to be madly in love, write out all the reasons why, but then you have got to put yourself in front of the kind of person you want to share your life with.
  824. 1:05:38If you want to start your own business and you have a reason why, you also need to have the discipline to meet people who will fund you, sponsor you, joint venture with you.
  825. 1:05:51So I want you to really understand that the best goal will not work if you don't work.
  826. 1:05:56You can have the start point, but you have to keep going.
  827. 1:06:00Many of the most successful people ever say, well, you know, I had a goal.
  828. 1:06:04Luther Vandross had a goal to be a rock star.
  829. 1:06:09And people said, well, you're an overnight success.
  830. 1:06:11He went, I don't think so.
  831. 1:06:12You know, I sang jingles for KFC for 12 years.
  832. 1:06:16That's a long night, 12 years.
  833. 1:06:19And people said, but Luther, you're singing on television.
  834. 1:06:22That's cool.
  835. 1:06:23You get paid a lot of money for KFC.
  836. 1:06:24He said, yeah, but it's not my goal.
  837. 1:06:27And he stuck it out.
  838. 1:06:28And many people have got so close to success and had to keep going.
  839. 1:06:34And you have to keep going.
  840. 1:06:35So
  841. 1:06:37Look at your discipline and decide you will give more to your goal, give even more.
  842. 1:06:42Work on it, look at it, write it out, think about it, talk about it.
  843. 1:06:46You must be prepared to give so much to your goal.
  844. 1:06:51In fact, you must be prepared to be unstoppable in the pursuit of your goal.
  845. 1:07:02Because you made it this far in the video, I want to celebrate you.
  846. 1:07:06Most people start and don't finish.
  847. 1:07:09Most people never actually follow through.
  848. 1:07:11Most people say they want something, but they don't ever do the work to actually get it.
  849. 1:07:15But you are different.
  850. 1:07:16You are special.
  851. 1:07:17Believe Nation, you made it here all the way to the end and I love you.
  852. 1:07:21So as a special celebration, if you put a hashtag Believe down in the comments below on this video, I will showcase you and celebrate you somewhere on the screen in a future video because you are awesome.

  855. 1:07:42Continue to believe and I'll see you there.
  856. 1:07:44Wayne literally came from nothing and achieved greatness.
  857. 1:07:47The early years of his life were difficult as his father was an alcoholic and left his family when Wayne was only three years old, forcing him to be put in a series of foster homes
