How to Make Slash VFX | Roblox Studio — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Welcome back everybody. Today I'm going
- 0:01to be showing you how to make this wind
- 0:03breathing slash in Roblox Studio. Today
- 0:05I thought I'd step it up a bit. We're
- 0:06going to use some beams, we're going to
- 0:08do some meshes. I have a bit of coding,
- 0:10so I hope we are able to learn
- 0:11something. And let's get into it. All
- 0:13right, so I get my part in, put my
- 0:15attachment in it, and then we'll just
- 0:18throw particle in it. For slashes I do a
- 0:20lifetime of like 0.2 0.3. It's probably
- 0:23not a huge deal. We're going to do 0.3.
- 0:26Uh set your speed to 0.001.
- 0:30We need this to face perpendicular and
- 0:32if your speed is zero,
- 0:34it'll just disappear.
- 0:36So, set that to 0.01. If you have a
- 0:38plugin like me, just
- 0:41change that to one, your uh emit count.
- 0:45Cuz then when we actually code it, it'll
- 0:46make this a lot easier. If you don't
- 0:48have a plugin, just add an attribute
- 0:50right here. You can go up. That's wrong.
- 0:54Just set it to number name it whatever.
- 0:56If you're trying to follow along with
- 0:57me, just name it the same thing. This
- 0:59will set So, we just when we run the
- 1:01code, it'll tell it how many of this
- 1:02particle to emit once. Light influence
- 1:04to zero, I don't want that up.
- 1:07Size we'll probably have to mess with.
- 1:09I'll put it like five for now. And then
- 1:11I'm just going to try and find a slash
- 1:12texture. I'm kind of going to go for
- 1:14something like sharp and broken up cuz
- 1:16that kind of fits the theme of what I'm
- 1:18doing. If you're doing something
- 1:19different, you're going to want to
- 1:20change it, but if you have a plugin like
- 1:22me, like Sonido Visuals, which I'd get
- 1:24by the way if you don't have it already,
- 1:26there are a bunch of slashes here. So,
- 1:28you shouldn't have a problem finding
- 1:29what you need. Um this one might work to
- 1:31start out. I'm going to Actually, I'm
- 1:34just going to turn this off.
- 1:36Uh I'm going to loop emit this. If you
- 1:38have this plugin, it's pretty easy to
- 1:40follow along. If you have VFX Suite, I
- 1:42think it's the same thing. I'm going to
- 1:44set my color to like a dark green.
- 1:48I'm going to do my base color first. And
- 1:50then we'll build on top of it. Rotation
- 1:52speed, we'll just up this a bit.
- 1:55This will make it rotate further over
- 1:57the lifetime. I think that's backwards.
- 2:01Um
- 2:02-190 -180
- 2:05Good enough.
- 2:07There we go. Slash.
- 2:09I'm actually just going to up this now
- 2:10cuz I can already see it's too small.
- 2:12And then I might find a second one.
- 2:15This might be good. This one's got a
- 2:16nice little line in the middle of it.
- 2:19Yeah, it's just too small. And I might
- 2:21make it black since it's pretty tiny.
- 2:24And we're going to layer this under
- 2:26Z offset doesn't have to be that high
- 2:28cuz we're only layering textures below
- 2:30and above each other.
- 2:32So they just have to differ by 1/1000.
- 2:35So I could even do something like this.
- 2:36If you're not trying to layer an effect
- 2:38over a character or the ground or
- 2:39something, you really don't need this
- 2:40turned that high at all. And this is
- 2:42sticking out a bit at the end. Something
- 2:44I like to do sometimes, if you have a
- 2:46plugin like this, you can just retime
- 2:48it.
- 2:49So I'll cut it in half for now and then
- 2:50later we can just double it again to
- 2:52speed it back up. But this actually lets
- 2:53me see
- 2:55what's going on cuz my lifetime's so
- 2:57small. So this is my black one.
- 3:00Going to rotate it. I don't actually
- 3:02know how far. That's the wrong
- 3:04direction. I don't actually know if I
- 3:05like the black.
- 3:08We'll probably make it a darker green
- 3:09but not like pitch black. And I'm
- 3:11realizing this texture kind of just
- 3:12disappears at the end. It doesn't fade
- 3:14as well as I'd like it to. It might not
- 3:16matter actually once we speed this up
- 3:18again, but I might do transparency fade
- 3:20just on this one. So even something
- 3:22slight like this is
- 3:24better. And make sure you actually add
- 3:26another point.
- 3:28Cuz if you were to just slide the end
- 3:29up, it's going to start disappearing
- 3:30immediately, which we don't want. So
- 3:32we're going to try and leave it at zero
- 3:34transparency and delay it a bit. Now I'm
- 3:36going to try and find a smaller one that
- 3:38I can make glow with a brighter green
- 3:40and then we can duplicate it and rotate
- 3:42it a bit to just give it some texture,
- 3:44which this one's actually perfect, I
- 3:46think. Uh we're going to have to up that
- 3:48a lot. Shade of green It not actually be
- 3:50that great.
- 3:52I think I want more yellow. So, this is
- 3:55backwards.
- 3:56So, instead of a mid from the top, we're
- 3:58going to go bottom.
- 4:01And now you can see the texture is
- 4:02facing that direction. So, rotation
- 4:05speed, we want that to be way up cuz I
- 4:06don't think this texture spins at all.
- 4:08Nope, it doesn't.
- 4:11So,
- 4:13that's probably too small still.
- 4:15And I think this is how many degrees it
- 4:17turns per second. So, if you have a low
- 4:19lifetime like me, you're going to want
- 4:21to turn this way above 360. And I'm
- 4:24going to flip that.
- 4:25And we'll size it up a bit and we'll
- 4:28layer it over. Maybe if I size it
- 4:31Yeah, it doesn't look that bad on the
- 4:33outside.
- 4:34It is not going far enough though.
- 4:37So, we're going to tone this down a bit,
- 4:39maybe 130.
- 4:43120, my rotation speed's too high now.
- 4:45Kind of just have to play with the
- 4:46rotation values until it works.
- 4:48Sometimes the
- 4:50getting directions correct is a little
- 4:52bit annoying.
- 4:53My up that again.
- 4:55And now I'm going to add a second one in
- 4:57here and I'm just going to make it a bit
- 4:59smaller and rotate slightly further back
- 5:02towards the tail end of it.
- 5:05So, let's see, like that maybe.
- 5:07There we go.
- 5:11Uh we'll probably make it
- 5:12darker. We don't want this one to be as
- 5:14noticeable.
- 5:15But, I want to try and give this some
- 5:17contrast. We could also do some
- 5:21more yellow.
- 5:24Like a lime green, that's probably too
- 5:26much.
- 5:27Something like this maybe.
- 5:29Let's do a negative point one
- 5:33on this one.
- 5:36In Demon Slayer, you can see the green
- 5:38kind of just has like super bright
- 5:40yellowish spots in them. So, I think I'm
- 5:43going to try and layer these together,
- 5:44but I don't want it to be
- 5:46super noticeable.
- 5:49Like this and then I'll probably have to
- 5:50turn the brightness down
- 5:52just slightly. That looks dumb. We're
- 5:55not going to do that. I think I'm going
- 5:57to find another texture here. Don't be
- 5:59afraid to just like spam {slash}
- 6:01textures cuz you're only emitting one
- 6:03and it does introduce some lag to have
- 6:05to loop through a bunch of these, but
- 6:07it's
- 6:08to my knowledge not horrible.
- 6:11I mean, don't go crazy, but it's fine if
- 6:13you use multiple textures. Slashes are
- 6:15very hard to get right when you only use
- 6:17a couple. I mean, if you make your own
- 6:19textures, you could probably do it
- 6:21really easily cuz do you have a lot
- 6:22more, you know, flexibility with that.
- 6:24But we're going to use pre-made textures
- 6:28for this. Um this one might work. I
- 6:30don't know. This one's kind of weird.
- 6:32Okay. Um
- 6:34that's not actually horrible. It's kind
- 6:36of nice. Gives it a little bit of a
- 6:38noisy texture.
- 6:40We'll leave it for now. See, this one's
- 6:42kind of got a sharp edge to it. It might
- 6:44look dumb, but we can try it.
- 6:47Uh we're going to have to flip that cuz
- 6:48it's going backwards.
- 6:50Wherever bottom is. Uh I think it
- 6:52rotates on its own, so we probably don't
- 6:54need 180. That's too far actually, but
- 6:58oh that's rotation speed, too. This
- 6:59might not look too horrible if we just
- 7:01put it out and then do
- 7:04this. Just make it transparent.
- 7:07Sometimes it's nice to have like
- 7:09pretty transparent textures under there.
- 7:12It kind of adds a little glowish look to
- 7:15it. It's not really glow, but you get
- 7:17what I mean. I might also add this
- 7:19texture in here. See if we can get
- 7:21another small little super bright area.
- 7:25Um I don't know where it is.
- 7:29It's way on the outside. We'll do like
- 7:3230. I want to crank this way up for a
- 7:34second.
- 7:36We'll lower that. That's actually a
- 7:38really nice texture. I don't think I've
- 7:39ever used that.
- 7:41I might actually want multiple of these,
- 7:42So, I'm going to go here. I'm going to
- 7:44up my mid count.
- 7:46And again, you can just come down here
- 7:48and change the number if you don't have
- 7:49a plug-in.
- 7:50And then I'm going to randomize the
- 7:51size.
- 7:53Let's just try like 1.5.
- 7:57It might be a bit much.
- 8:00It's not horrible. Five might have been
- 8:02too many for this though.
- 8:04And I'm going to randomize my rotation.
- 8:06Let's say like 30-ish.
- 8:11Should be 210.
- 8:1430's too much. Maybe just 10.
- 8:18Let's try that.
- 8:19Not too bad. I might make it bigger
- 8:22though. See, that's kind of nice. I
- 8:24might add another one to make it go a
- 8:25lot slower so it lags behind a bit. For
- 8:29now, I'm just trying to get it to
- 8:30rotate.
- 8:32Just slightly but not too much.
- 8:35Okay, that's fine actually. Then I'm
- 8:37going to keep it on this tail end here.
- 8:39I might do -40 to like
- 8:43-120.
- 8:46Maybe that might be
- 8:48Eh, no, that's kind of nice. Let's see
- 8:50what it looks like actually at speed
- 8:52now.
- 8:58Something about it looks off.
- 9:01And I'm not sure what.
- 9:02Could just transparency fade everything?
- 9:06Like this. We'll just try it.
- 9:09It's easy enough to undo it if it looks
- 9:11dumb. Okay, well, it's kind of hard to
- 9:13see when this super bright one's just
- 9:17not transparent at all. Okay, we're
- 9:19going to mess with all the other ones.
- 9:23Go up, pulse at .6. I might move back to
- 9:26.5.
- 9:28Uh with the dot there. So, now they'll
- 9:31start disappearing
- 9:33slightly sooner.
- 9:36We'll up this.
- 9:39And that doesn't look that bad.
- 9:42Okay, so I'll put this back now. We kind
- 9:44of got a main slash.
- 9:46We don't need to fine-tune it as much.
- 9:49So I'm thinking now I might actually
- 9:50just add some beams. So I'm going to I'm
- 9:53going to stop looping that and then I'm
- 9:55just going to emit this just so we can
- 9:56see the actual shape of it.
- 9:59And then I had a texture somewhere.
- 10:03This was all I recorded this before we
- 10:05ended up really bad and the slash just
- 10:07looked like garbage. So I'm redoing it.
- 10:10I will add another attachment just for
- 10:12organization purposes. We're adding an
- 10:15attachment.
- 10:17>> [snorts]
- 10:17>> And then what I'm going to do, I'm going
- 10:19to move this out to one end. We'll just
- 10:22call it nine. It might not be a bad idea
- 10:24for it to stick a bit out actually.
- 10:27Say 9.5.
- 10:29And we'll go
- 10:31I'm bad at math. What is it? -19 the
- 10:33opposite direction? So it matches. And
- 10:36now we're going to add a beam in.
- 10:38I'll put the texture I had.
- 10:43And this texture will be open sourced.
- 10:45I'm going to give this whole file away
- 10:46for free in my server. So if you want
- 10:48it, just go get it.
- 10:50It's a texture I made. It's not amazing,
- 10:52but it works. So I'm going to use it.
- 10:55And now attachment one or attachment
- 10:58zero, just put it in one of them.
- 11:01Do this to the other one.
- 11:02We want our speed to be zero. We're
- 11:05going to re-enable that so it re-centers
- 11:07it. And then curve size. You want your
- 11:09curve size
- 11:11to make a perfect circle. It's going to
- 11:12be your diameter divided by 1 and 1/2
- 11:15or just times 2/3. Doesn't matter. It's
- 11:1812.6 repeating.
- 11:20Okay, that's not what I said at all.
- 11:2612.6 repeating. And now we're going to
- 11:28have to rotate this so it actually goes
- 11:30out. We're going 90 degrees.
- 11:33And now it'll be a perfect semicircle.
- 11:38And we could just duplicate this and go
- 11:39the other side if you're trying to make
- 11:41something with a circle. We're going to
- 11:42go I'm going to go zero on the tail end
- 11:44and just make the end really big.
- 11:48That's all right. Face camera, we want
- 11:50that on.
- 11:52Just so I can view it from any angle cuz
- 11:54if you look at it from the top, it'll
- 11:55just go flat and that's weird.
- 11:58Segments, I'll probably turn that up a
- 12:00bit. 50s might be a bit high but it will
- 12:03work. Oh yeah, this is another issue our
- 12:05blocks has. The rendering for beams is
- 12:08really horrible.
- 12:09Did you
- 12:11You can see the tail end through one end
- 12:13of it. It only works on one side.
- 12:16I don't think there's a way around this
- 12:17but with quick things like slashes, it's
- 12:19not a huge deal. So now I'm going to
- 12:22copy this whole thing
- 12:24and I'm just going to add a bunch of
- 12:25these
- 12:26to make it broken up. I know we have
- 12:28some textures
- 12:30I don't know why I said we. I know they
- 12:32have some textures in this plugin that
- 12:34have like more jagged edges like this
- 12:36one that probably work real well with a
- 12:38beam. I'll probably go like five.
- 12:42I think I'll turn the end up so you can
- 12:43actually see that. Maybe zero on the
- 12:45front end.
- 12:46Then we'll just make the tail end
- 12:49a bit bigger. I'm going to do light
- 12:50emission cuz this has some black in it
- 12:52and I don't like that.
- 12:54I'll probably just make this
- 12:56That That just looks dumb now.
- 13:00What if you just put this whole thing
- 13:01black and put it behind it?
- 13:06It kind of works. I don't like this
- 13:07black at the end.
- 13:09So I'm going to
- 13:11Well, I'm going to lower this first
- 13:13cuz that's real high.
- 13:16>> [snorts]
- 13:16>> And then I'm kind of just going to drag
- 13:18this transparency
- 13:21up
- 13:22and that kind of fixes it.
- 13:25It's not a huge deal.
- 13:27And I don't want this to stick out at
- 13:29the end.
- 13:30So, I'm going to we'll just move this
- 13:33up. Move this down to random point.
- 13:36Then I'm going to take this and add
- 13:38another one.
- 13:40So, that will completely cut off this
- 13:41area from showing at all. And now it
- 13:43looks fine. Keep in mind you can sit
- 13:45here and fine-tune this forever, but
- 13:47it's going to move so fast you're not
- 13:48really going to see. So, it's not a huge
- 13:50deal. Then I might duplicate this again.
- 13:53I'll see if I can find a different
- 13:54texture like this one. I actually use
- 13:57for a lot of beam slashes. It works well
- 13:59if you just cut the ends off with
- 14:00transparency.
- 14:02I might turn that up.
- 14:0510 was
- 14:06real overkill actually. I think I'm
- 14:08going to make this a darker green.
- 14:11.1 maybe.
- 14:13That's all right.
- 14:15Again, we'll just cut off this front
- 14:17part.
- 14:18Cut off the end.
- 14:22And I don't really want any of this.
- 14:25So, I'm just going to
- 14:26drag that till like here.
- 14:29Now, it's kind of hard to see where the
- 14:31dots are. And I'll put it over the
- 14:33black, but behind our
- 14:35main one. So, .05.
- 14:38And I probably want this up cuz now it's
- 14:40just getting cut off and that just looks
- 14:42stupid. Can add some brightness to this.
- 14:44Three doesn't really ruin it.
- 14:46So, now I'm going to duplicate this.
- 14:49We're going to cut these out. I don't
- 14:51really want these. I'll put them on the
- 14:52main slash.
- 14:55Speaking of it, I should probably just
- 14:56make this whole thing bigger.
- 14:58Uh that didn't work.
- 15:01>> [snorts]
- 15:01>> We'll go
- 15:02If you have VFX Forge, this is really
- 15:04easy. You can just multiply the width
- 15:06values of all of it. And now my life is
- 15:08going to be a lot easier if I add an
- 15:10attachment for every beam.
- 15:13So, I don't have to duplicate and try
- 15:15and find which two are what.
- 15:17Just keep it under one.
- 15:19Duplicate that. Move it up.
- 15:22Get rid of these two.
- 15:24>> [snorts]
- 15:25>> And now
- 15:27I'm going to lower this again.
- 15:30I'm just going to add a bunch more just
- 15:31trailing around it. If you've played the
- 15:34Hinokami Chronicles games,
- 15:37you've probably seen they do this with a
- 15:38lot of their slashes. They'll layer a
- 15:41bunch of beams.
- 15:42I'm not sure if they call it beams and I
- 15:44assume they use Unreal Engine.
- 15:46That's what it's called in a Roblox and
- 15:48and it looks the same, so that's what
- 15:49I'm going to call it. I'm just going to
- 15:51make a
- 15:52random shape here.
- 15:56And that's
- 16:00not horrible, actually. So, that's fine.
- 16:02I'll probably add a shorter one on the
- 16:04front. This one I'm not going to make a
- 16:06perfect circle, so I'm going to have to
- 16:08mess with the width values a bit. I'm
- 16:10going to move this up to like here.
- 16:14And we're going to want to rotate it
- 16:15towards just the curve.
- 16:20Oh, do the same for this.
- 16:23Probably not a huge deal. And then yeah,
- 16:25you can see our width is way too high.
- 16:28Or our curve size.
- 16:30Well, let's try 55, maybe.
- 16:33Uh
- 16:35Yeah, that worked pretty well. I didn't
- 16:37think it worked first try.
- 16:40Sometimes you just got to play around
- 16:41with those values until it doesn't look
- 16:43stupid.
- 16:45But, that's fine.
- 16:46And then I'll just duplicate it and add
- 16:48another one down here.
- 16:52And I'll probably change this.
- 16:55We don't want our sizes to all be
- 16:57exactly the same.
- 17:00I mean, like I said, that it's going to
- 17:01go really quick, so it probably doesn't
- 17:03actually matter.
- 17:04I'm just picky about some stuff like
- 17:06this.
- 17:07Just do whatever you want, man.
- 17:09Uh maybe we'll move this down.
- 17:13I might move these two outward just
- 17:15slightly.
- 17:20There we go. That's fine. Now, I'll
- 17:22probably duplicate them. Okay, where'd
- 17:24they go?
- 17:25And I'll move these inside, too.
- 17:28Cuz that kind of works. And you'll see
- 17:30they clip through each other a lot.
- 17:32Uh it's not going to be that huge of a
- 17:33deal once we actually play it, just cuz
- 17:36you know, it's going to move so fast
- 17:38you're not even going to see. I'm going
- 17:39to turn this off now that I actually
- 17:41have my size correct. That was if you
- 17:43have VFX Forge, just shift R by the way
- 17:45to enable.
- 17:46And I think pressing R just emits once.
- 17:49It's really not that horrible, actually.
- 17:51I might add some tiny ones trailing
- 17:54behind and like to the top. You kind of
- 17:56want it to like break away and get
- 17:58thinner as you get away from this main
- 18:00slash. Again, we'll just take this,
- 18:03duplicate it,
- 18:05move it back.
- 18:08We're going to move this way out.
- 18:10Like here.
- 18:12Then I'll make this one
- 18:14tiny tiny.
- 18:17Go like that.
- 18:21Again, I kind of just
- 18:23rotate it until it's tangent to the
- 18:25curve.
- 18:29It's probably not a huge deal.
- 18:33And that kind of works. I might want to
- 18:34move it more in.
- 18:37There we go.
- 18:38And I might make these glow a bit more,
- 18:40just cuz they're off to the side. And
- 18:42I'll make it a lot smaller.
- 18:44Like that.
- 18:47I'll probably make it slightly bigger.
- 18:48And we're just going to throw these
- 18:50around.
- 18:51So, we'll put one like way out here, I
- 18:53guess.
- 18:55Well, I don't know if I want to rotate
- 18:56it.
- 18:58Move it down.
- 19:00Maybe a tiny bit.
- 19:04There we go. Back there.
- 19:06Um
- 19:08Actually, that's
- 19:10This one is
- 19:13not facing
- 19:14correct way.
- 19:17My texture's also just weird. It like
- 19:19kind of
- 19:20I mean, you can kind of see it on this
- 19:21big one. It kind of bends.
- 19:25I just messed up when I made it.
- 19:28Uh curve size will probably go down a
- 19:31lot.
- 19:33Uh two's way too extreme.
- 19:39Five here, maybe.
- 19:42Good enough.
- 19:45And then I'll put a couple up here at
- 19:46the front.
- 19:49Um
- 19:51We'll move these way up.
- 20:04I'm kind of just focusing on this front
- 20:06one
- 20:07cuz
- 20:08if you try and duplicate two at the same
- 20:10time, it's going to be real hard to get
- 20:11them to line up.
- 20:14>> [snorts]
- 20:14>> And then I'll just move this slightly.
- 20:18Whatever, good enough. It's not perfect,
- 20:21but it works. I might actually move this
- 20:23one in.
- 20:24That's not even the right one.
- 20:26Move it to the inside.
- 20:30Here we go. That's probably more beams
- 20:32than you're actually going to want to
- 20:33use, but this is just for a tutorial, so
- 20:36I'm just messing around with it.
- 20:39I assume in actual game this would
- 20:40introduce a decent amount of lag. I know
- 20:42I said I'd throw them all under an
- 20:44attachment just for organization, but if
- 20:46we code this, we're actually going to
- 20:47want them all under one because we're
- 20:49going to want to rotate this attachment,
- 20:51and then I'll just turn the whole thing.
- 20:53It's a lot more complicated to try and
- 20:55rotate all of these separately
- 20:58around your
- 21:00you know, pivot point. So, just put them
- 21:01under one.
- 21:03Then we can very easily just change
- 21:04this. Don't actually like this one in
- 21:06the front.
- 21:08We're just going to
- 21:10get that out of here. Some of them emit
- 21:13this back again.
- 21:15Cuz now I'm going to try and just add
- 21:16some random like
- 21:18miscellaneous particles to it.
- 21:20And I think I'm going to size this up
- 21:22actually cuz now our beams are way too
- 21:24big.
- 21:26Good enough. And I might end up making
- 21:28some of these smaller ones a bit bigger
- 21:30start slash is thinner. So now I'm going
- 21:33to group this.
- 21:35Let's call this Okay, why is caps on?
- 21:38Call this slash group it.
- 21:43Doesn't matter what you name it.
- 21:45Now I'm going to add another part in
- 21:47here. Just duplicate it cuz that's easy.
- 21:51>> [snorts]
- 21:51>> I'll just name this slight VFX or
- 21:53something.
- 21:54Just whatever.
- 21:56And now we're going to just add
- 21:59parts along the slash and then we're
- 22:01going to emit particles out of it to add
- 22:02little specs. Keep in mind our slash is
- 22:05going to start more back here. For now
- 22:07the beams are just sitting up front.
- 22:10So probably do something like this. Move
- 22:12this in
- 22:14to match this a bit more.
- 22:17We'll duplicate that again.
- 22:20Um rotate it slightly. I do like three
- 22:23to five of these. Uh we're going to make
- 22:25these transparent cuz we don't want that
- 22:27in our face.
- 22:29And we're just going to add a particle
- 22:30in here. Our lifetime we probably don't
- 22:32want too high compared to the actual
- 22:34slash. I do like 0.4 0.6.
- 22:38And then I'll put my size. Actually I'm
- 22:41not going to put that down.
- 22:44I'm going to if you have a plugin for
- 22:45this show paths. If not you'll just have
- 22:47to mess with it.
- 22:49We're going to change That's front so we
- 22:52want back. We're going to make it go in
- 22:54the direction of the slash.
- 22:55And then I like to block it
- 22:58to the part and then change our
- 23:00acceleration.
- 23:02Which I think that's the wrong axis.
- 23:0610's probably too much. I'm just trying
- 23:08to play with the numbers so we see the
- 23:10direction.
- 23:12Like that. And that'll occur a little
- 23:13bit. Doesn't really fit the theme, but
- 23:15I'll probably add some little specs just
- 23:19around. Actually, I think a star would
- 23:21work better.
- 23:24Where's a star?
- 23:27Something like this maybe. That's all
- 23:30right, I guess.
- 23:32And I'm going to I did this in the
- 23:34explosion video if you watched it.
- 23:36I'm just going to make these sparkle a
- 23:38little bit by just adding some random
- 23:40bumps in here.
- 23:42And the lifetime's actually super short,
- 23:44so I think you only need two bumps.
- 23:46Going to move this up a bit.
- 23:51I always make this last one just a bit
- 23:52longer.
- 23:53That's kind of just personal preference,
- 23:55I guess, but it gives it a nice little
- 23:57fade out.
- 23:59And this is too big.
- 24:02So I'm just going to
- 24:04There we go, like that.
- 24:05Randomize rotation a bit.
- 24:08And I'm not liking this texture at all.
- 24:13Something like this is a bit better.
- 24:15It has a bit of a shape to it, but you
- 24:17can still
- 24:19see it looks like a dot. Um emit count,
- 24:23we can stick with like five for now.
- 24:26And now I'm actually going to loop emit
- 24:28the entire model.
- 24:34And actually, since these are flashing,
- 24:35I'm going to put the lifetime
- 24:38in a much wider range. Could also just
- 24:42add some specs cuz that's
- 24:45always easy. Uh size for these, I just
- 24:48keep them constant. Five's probably too
- 24:49high.
- 24:51Two, maybe three.
- 24:53Good enough. We'll do transparency fade
- 24:55out. And normally, I'm real religious
- 24:58about like
- 25:00fading in. If you're doing a slash, it
- 25:02kind of just helps it to give impact if
- 25:04it just appears out of nowhere. I lied.
- 25:07I think I do want these to fade in.
- 25:10Just a little bit.
- 25:14Uh
- 25:15three. We'll probably move this up just
- 25:17slightly, so we have a wider window
- 25:19where it's actually glowing.
- 25:21And five is probably too many cuz
- 25:23they're so big. I think I'm going to
- 25:25move these out, actually, cuz now our
- 25:27beams are getting covered up. And my
- 25:29shape is real weird, actually.
- 25:32I'm now realizing. So, I'm going to move
- 25:33this out.
- 25:36So, it fits the curve a bit better.
- 25:41Probably move these two slightly over.
- 25:45There we go. It's a bit better of a
- 25:49curve now. And now that one's way off,
- 25:51though. They are
- 25:53pretty short, though.
- 25:55So, I don't know if I'm going to raise
- 25:57that.
- 25:59Raise that up a bit.
- 26:01Cuz our beams are real big now. So, now
- 26:03I'm actually sync this up with the
- 26:05animation.
- 26:07Uh we're first of all going to find
- 26:09where the actual slash is. There's the
- 26:11first one.
- 26:12This is a scythe animation, by the way.
- 26:14So, the sword doesn't really line up
- 26:15perfectly. But, it'll look fine
- 26:19when we actually play it. So, I find
- 26:21like the first frame or two they
- 26:23actually start swinging. And that's when
- 26:26I try to play it. I kind of just write
- 26:27my stuff in a separate script. You can
- 26:30write in Moon Animator, but it doesn't
- 26:31have like
- 26:33the auto fill or
- 26:35it's I don't even know what to say. It's
- 26:38just horrible. So, first, uh I'm going
- 26:40to probably define my part
- 26:43just
- 26:44as whatever.
- 26:48That's the wrong one.
- 26:511 / 1
- 26:53And then we're going to want to rotate
- 26:55our beam slider, remember?
- 26:57So, we're going to take
- 26:59local beam slash equals
- 27:03part dot What was it? slash beam slash
- 27:08There we go. So, now we got a variable
- 27:09for our model and
- 27:12this beam slash attachment. So, we're
- 27:13going to do four IVN Nope, that's the
- 27:17wrong one.
- 27:19And for get descendants do
- 27:23I'm not really going to explain the code
- 27:25too much cuz
- 27:26I'm not a scripter and I do not know to
- 27:28teach this stuff. Try and follow along,
- 27:30I guess.
- 27:32So, this is going to loop through
- 27:36you know
- 27:37for that's just like that's the index.
- 27:40That'll just count by one.
- 27:42So, for V is our variable
- 27:45for everything in this part, it's going
- 27:47to loop through. If it's a particle
- 27:50it'll emit it.
- 27:52And then the actual amount it's emitting
- 27:54is our emit count attribute that we set
- 27:57earlier. So, that'll play our slash
- 27:59particles in the like the effects around
- 28:02it.
- 28:03Now, we're going to need
- 28:04something to actually play the beam
- 28:06slash. So, first of all, I messed up.
- 28:10Yep, define our tween service. I'm
- 28:12actually going to go through
- 28:14and I'm going to add an attribute for
- 28:16all these. We're going to want an
- 28:19initial size attribute. That'll make it
- 28:21a lot easier to play at the start and
- 28:23it'll let us loop it. So, that's all of
- 28:24them. We'll add another tag and
- 28:26attribute
- 28:28for a number.
- 28:30We'll do width zero and width one.
- 28:37Width one number, yep.
- 28:40And then we're just going to go through
- 28:42these and change our values. These are
- 28:44all the same. We can set our zero to
- 28:46three. Zero's five here.
- 28:49Okay, I'm not going to explain all of
- 28:50them cuz you get it, but to set these
- 28:51two these values 0 4 again.
- 28:55We're going to loop through.
- 28:58If it's a beam, then we're going to set
- 29:01We initially want the size to be our
- 29:04attributes.
- 29:05So, we're going to say
- 29:07v.width 0 =
- 29:10v.getattribute width 0.
- 29:14And because we're going to tween it to
- 29:16go down,
- 29:18we're going to want our beam to start
- 29:21bigger than this value
- 29:23because it's immediately going to start
- 29:24shrinking. So, it's going to look a lot
- 29:26smaller when you actually play it.
- 29:29So,
- 29:30I don't even know what to call this.
- 29:36I'm just adding variables in case
- 29:39you guys don't know the script very
- 29:40well. It'll make it very easy to just
- 29:42change one number.
- 29:44So, this will just multiply it by our
- 29:47multiplier. We'll set this to like
- 29:490.25-ish, I guess.
- 29:52The AI knows, bro.
- 29:56So, now we're going to set up
- 29:58tween info
- 30:00= tween info.new beam duration linear
- 30:03good. And then we're going to tween it.
- 30:09Set the width to zero. I don't know why
- 30:11it's trying to make two separate ones.
- 30:14Only comes to zero. I'm just going to
- 30:15play it. So, this little function here
- 30:18It's not really function, but
- 30:21this loop
- 30:23is going to go through.
- 30:24It's going to put all the beam sizes at
- 30:27the initial value it should be, and then
- 30:28it'll tween it down to zero, so it'll
- 30:30fade out.
- 30:31So, now we're going to go
- 30:34and actually rotate this thing.
- 30:37So, our initial CFrame
- 30:40is zero.
- 30:41I think. Yeah, it doesn't change. So,
- 30:43we're going to set beam slash.cframe.
- 30:46We're going to start this back.
- 30:50Cuz our slash doesn't start here, it
- 30:51starts back here.
- 30:53So, we're just going to rotate this.
- 30:55I guess about 90.
- 30:57Just copy that.
- 31:00Equals
- 31:02Oh, brother.
- 31:03CFrame.new
- 31:05that. So, that'll set it back.
- 31:07And then once again, we're going to
- 31:09tween it. I don't really want to use the
- 31:10AI for this one cuz it's
- 31:13going off on a tangent now. Actually,
- 31:16that's not too far off. Uh let's see. It
- 31:18was the Y value that changed. So, we're
- 31:20going to do like 175.
- 31:22I don't do 180 cuz sometimes it'll just
- 31:24rotate backwards and then it looks
- 31:26stupid. So, I try to leave it a bit
- 31:28under. Missing something. I just don't
- 31:30know what. Oh, cuz there's no V, idiot.
- 31:34Beam slash is what we're tweening. Okay.
- 31:38Yeah, it's so I'm stupid. I'm going to
- 31:40do that. We don't need that in there. We
- 31:41want to use this for everything. If it's
- 31:44inside the loop, then things outside the
- 31:47loop won't be able to access it.
- 31:49So, put that up here. So, that should
- 31:51tween it. So, now it's going to rotate.
- 31:53Think that's everything. It's a very
- 31:55simple script.
- 31:57We're going to first of all
- 31:59actually line this up.
- 32:02We could code it if we were going to
- 32:03actually use this for something.
- 32:06To like go to the player's position,
- 32:09rotate itself.
- 32:10Uh
- 32:11we're just showcasing it, so there's no
- 32:13point. It's a bit flatter than that.
- 32:15We'll set it like that, maybe. Okay,
- 32:18yeah. So, this is a fun problem with
- 32:19Roblox Studio. If you flip it like
- 32:23uh particles that are facing
- 32:25perpendicular, if you flip them, I don't
- 32:27even know what axis, but if you flip
- 32:29them 180° in some direction, it'll break
- 32:32sometimes.
- 32:33So, we'll just go rotation 180,
- 32:36flip it back over and
- 32:39We're not going to select the beams.
- 32:41We're just going to select the particles
- 32:42in here.
- 32:43Flip it and
- 32:45It doesn't work. Okay, it flipped some
- 32:47of them but not all of them.
- 32:49Which is interesting. So, we're going to
- 32:51get to go through and manually flip all
- 32:53the ones that flipped. There we go. Now
- 32:56it works. So, we're going to
- 32:57I think I already copied this. I don't
- 32:59even know though.
- 33:00We'll paste this in.
- 33:03And now bang. We'll do our slash and my
- 33:06beams are not
- 33:09working.
- 33:10There's no error, which means I've just
- 33:12messed something up. Feed that with
- 33:13zero. Oh, I never set the
- 33:16Okay.
- 33:18See all the people who know how to code
- 33:20are laughing at me right now. I never
- 33:21set my width one. It only changed one
- 33:23side of it.
- 33:25Cool. I really don't like these
- 33:27actually.
- 33:28Now that I think about it.
- 33:31I might just set this to zero and see
- 33:33how it looks without it.
- 33:35It's a lot better.
- 33:37I just wanted to show you how to do it
- 33:38at least.
- 33:40The texture or the particles don't
- 33:42really work for this type of slash.
- 33:44We're going to duplicate this. We'll
- 33:45just call it two.
- 33:48Again, this would be
- 33:49a horrible way to do if this is for a
- 33:51real game, but
- 33:54it's just for us.
- 34:01Now we'll move this down. Okay.
- 34:04Try and match it here.
- 34:09And our orientation's flipped, so we're
- 34:11going to
- 34:13just keep moving it until it flips over.
- 34:18Keep it mostly flat. And that should
- 34:20probably work actually. Okay, I will
- 34:21stop emitting this.
- 34:23We'll just paste the same thing in here,
- 34:25but change the one to two.
- 34:27Cuz the way we coded it, it'll
- 34:29you know, move everything relative to
- 34:31itself.
- 34:33And that's
- 34:36good enough, brothers.
- 34:38Except it's not lined up.
- 34:40>> [laughter and gasps]
- 34:42>> Bah.
- 34:45Our slash should be way back here.
- 34:48And I think this one's also off.
- 34:54Yeah, maybe I should change it so it's
- 34:58more relative to this pose than the
- 34:59other one.
- 35:01Cuz he jumps there pretty quick.
- 35:05I don't like this and I don't know why.
- 35:07I think my beams just aren't rotating
- 35:08far enough, so it feels weird.
- 35:11So, I think I'm going to
- 35:14do this a second time once it's done.
- 35:17Test away.
- 35:19Uh
- 35:24I'll just put that in a function.
- 35:27I'll just rotate it a second time.
- 35:29Probably not the full rotation. We'll do
- 35:30like a quarter of it.
- 35:34Maybe.
- 35:36Actually, it's not playing again because
- 35:38I
- 35:39put the size to zero.
- 35:41Our duration for this matches the
- 35:44duration for the size tween, which means
- 35:46this has to go faster than our size. I
- 35:49don't know if you can tell, but I'm not
- 35:50a scripter, so I'm kind of just BSing my
- 35:53way through this. There we go. I like
- 35:54that a lot better than whatever was
- 35:56going on before. Uh we got a main slash
- 35:59done now. So, I think I will
- 36:01add some little ground effects. All
- 36:04right, so an easy thing we could do with
- 36:06the ground, we could very easily add
- 36:08under here.
- 36:09Part, not particle.
- 36:12Uh we're going to move this. Now, we're
- 36:14just going to put our ground effect uh
- 36:16on the ground. Probably want to size
- 36:19that. Okay, this thing's just in the
- 36:21way.
- 36:22I don't know what I'm doing, man.
- 36:25Size it just slightly
- 36:29Doesn't matter that much.
- 36:31Uh add an attachment and then we'll put
- 36:33some wind particles under it. So, I'm
- 36:35going to do transparency way up.
- 36:39I always put my light emission on just
- 36:41cuz some wind textures have like black
- 36:43lines in them and I don't want them
- 36:44there.
- 36:46If you're going for like super stylized
- 36:48look, you could do it. I just prefer not
- 36:51to.
- 36:52Lifetime, um
- 36:55probably match it what our specs are
- 36:57going to be. Set that down. We'll put
- 36:59our spread angle up to like uh 25 is
- 37:02going to be a lot.
- 37:05But, we will
- 37:06stick with that.
- 37:12All right, size it up like 10 is going
- 37:14to be real strong. We'll do 15 with a
- 37:17size Yeah. I kind of like to slightly
- 37:21rotate wind just in opposite directions
- 37:23when it's like an
- 37:25like an impact or something.
- 37:27We'll put our Z offset up so it's not
- 37:29sticking through the ground.
- 37:31Set this to like seven maybe. I don't
- 37:32even know.
- 37:34And then I've said this a million times,
- 37:36but I always like putting multiple
- 37:38textures.
- 37:40We'll put a shockwave that's flat
- 37:43and we'll emit one
- 37:45and we'll make this linear
- 37:47because shockwaves
- 37:49well,
- 37:51not really doing here.
- 37:54I kind of like shockwaves to be more
- 37:56linear. They probably don't need to be
- 37:59a perfect line,
- 38:01but I always like this more.
- 38:03So,
- 38:05we're going to
- 38:06do this so we can actually see how it's
- 38:07going to look. Yeah.
- 38:10It's not that bad. We're not going to
- 38:11rotate it.
- 38:13And now I'm going to add some just smoke
- 38:15and stuff.
- 38:16Uh we'll slightly
- 38:18Yeah, we'll extend it a a longer.
- 38:22Uh again, zero size for this one.
- 38:25I said 0.01 {point} 01. Doesn't really
- 38:29matter though cuz it's going to stay
- 38:30facing the camera, so zero should work.
- 38:32Then I'm going to try and find a more
- 38:33stylized texture.
- 38:36Which I know I had a good one that I
- 38:38found
- 38:39for another thing I made. This isn't the
- 38:41one I'm thinking of, but I might have
- 38:42used this.
- 38:45Up that.
- 38:46I don't know if we need a transparency
- 38:48fade on this one.
- 38:59And I'm going to emit this as a disc, I
- 39:02think. Yep.
- 39:05Just so it stays confined in this space.
- 39:08Um that was supposed to be {point} 4.
- 39:11I knew something felt off. It's still
- 39:13too bright. I want this one to be like
- 39:15barely noticeable. Like that. And then I
- 39:17saw this one, we'll use this as well.
- 39:20Probably size this up.
- 39:23And not rotate it like that.
- 39:25It's way too small. We're going to scale
- 39:28this whole thing up. The nice thing
- 39:29about models is you can just scale the
- 39:31whole thing and everything will go up.
- 39:33Sometimes I do
- 39:34slightly realistic textures. You kind of
- 39:37just have to play around it cuz it's
- 39:39really easy to make it look stupid.
- 39:41And this isn't a super realistic
- 39:42texture, but it's it'll give us a good
- 39:45bridge between the two, I suppose. And
- 39:47then we'll find something like this,
- 39:49which is actually realistic. We'll make
- 39:51this last a bit longer. Size this down
- 39:54probably. We don't need that many. All
- 39:56right, so I don't feel like recoding the
- 39:58entire thing.
- 39:59I'm just going to add in this mesh
- 40:01script that I already made a while ago.
- 40:04Yeah, so this is for like ground wind
- 40:06meshes.
- 40:08I just made it very attribute based
- 40:11so I could just copy and paste this
- 40:12wherever I needed it. Uh if you're doing
- 40:14wind meshes, I put on neon just cuz it
- 40:16glows and it works with transparency
- 40:19very well.
- 40:20You can do it with other stuff. It's
- 40:21probably not that huge of a deal, but I
- 40:24like to do it. Uh I'm going to copy this
- 40:26so I actually have the mesh script in
- 40:28both of these. All right, so if you are
- 40:30going to download this from my server
- 40:32the way I have this set up, you can just
- 40:34So we'll throw that up.
- 40:37I set my size beforehand.
- 40:40And then I will copy that.
- 40:43I have an initial size
- 40:45somewhere.
- 40:47Size zero or no.
- 40:50Size zero is my initial. I want that at
- 40:52zero.
- 40:53Size one is my end size.
- 40:56My end transparency will be one cuz we
- 40:58want to fade out. Probably point nine
- 41:00seven
- 41:02for neon parts you're going to have to
- 41:03put it real high. Duration
- 41:05um
- 41:06Let's do like five.
- 41:10The way I coded it, it's going to cut
- 41:11these
- 41:12down. It's going to be a tenth of this
- 41:13so this is actually point five and point
- 41:15five.
- 41:16It's I just ran into some errors while I
- 41:18was making it and I didn't feel like
- 41:19working around them.
- 41:21So now
- 41:22we got our mission here.
- 41:24Uh ground
- 41:27and then we'll throw that in this one.
- 41:29And we'll have to move it back down to
- 41:31the ground. So now we got some ground
- 41:33wind.
- 41:35It's not that good, but I just wanted to
- 41:37show you the process of making wind. I
- 41:39could also throw a highlight on them
- 41:41money.
- 41:42Does a slash. Yeah, let's do that. So
- 41:45we're going to add a highlight. Okay.
- 41:49Fill color we're just going to do like a
- 41:52green.
- 41:53Outline is not even going to be enabled
- 41:55so I don't care.
- 41:57We'll darken that up a bit.
- 42:02Fill transparency let's just see what we
- 42:04want it at.
- 42:06Point six probably. Let's set variable
- 42:08for our highlight. Uh
- 42:11TS create
- 42:14highlight
- 42:15info.
- 42:17Um, tween info. That's our longer one.
- 42:22Equals and what was it? .6? Yes.
- 42:25Actually, we're going to need
- 42:27I'll go go equals.
- 42:36We're going to do a circular easing
- 42:38style.
- 42:40This will make it I mean, you can find
- 42:42them on the dev forum. They have little
- 42:44pictures. I'll throw them on screen,
- 42:46actually. Linear is obviously just a
- 42:48line. Circular is more like a sine
- 42:50graph, I think. It'll just round it out
- 42:52and look better.
- 42:54Uh, easing direction.
- 42:56Easing
- 42:58direction.
- 42:59Uh, probably doesn't actually matter.
- 43:03Uh, this will repeat it zero times and
- 43:05then it's going to flip it backwards.
- 43:08So, now I can set this to one and when I
- 43:10play this, it'll tween it to .6 and then
- 43:13go back. I'm not actually too sure. Yep.
- 43:16It didn't go backwards. Come on, man. Am
- 43:19I stupid?
- 43:21Oh.
- 43:22I am. It's the wrong info.
- 43:29Okay, it's way too quick, though.
- 43:31Um, beam duration will do divide by two.
- 43:36Two is a bit overkill. Okay, the
- 43:38highlight looks a bit weird. So, I'm
- 43:39going to add some like more flashes and
- 43:42impact to pair with it. So, we're going
- 43:44to go back to our slash. We're going to
- 43:47mess with this a bit. Going to add an
- 43:49attachment.
- 43:51Uh,
- 43:52name doesn't matter that much, actually.
- 43:54We're going to move this way out here.
- 43:57That's probably fine.
- 43:59We're going to add a particle. And we're
- 44:01just going to add a little impact
- 44:03particle.
- 44:05So, I set my lifetime super low, like
- 44:070.05 is probably
- 44:09Oh, that's
- 44:10not lifetime. I'm stupid.
- 44:120.05
- 44:14Change this to one, so it actually emits
- 44:16with our thing here.
- 44:18Uh light emission, up. It's going to
- 44:21grow and go transparent. Find us a
- 44:24decent star texture.
- 44:26That's not good. Actually, I think the
- 44:29brightness is just screwing it over.
- 44:31Yep.
- 44:32Never mind, that does work pretty well.
- 44:35Then sometimes I like to do impacts
- 44:38like add another one, but backwards.
- 44:40So, we'll size it down over the lifetime
- 44:42instead. It's not too noticeable, but
- 44:45I always like it.
- 44:47And this is lasting too long. I feel
- 44:49like if you can make out the shape super
- 44:51well, it's generally lasting too long in
- 44:54my opinion.
- 44:56It should just be a flash of light,
- 44:58which I think that'll work. It doesn't
- 44:59have to be anything crazy. Impacts are
- 45:02super simple. Uh add this back in, and
- 45:04it was CFrame, so it should go to the
- 45:06correct spot automatically. What if I
- 45:08just throw it on the character instead?
- 45:10This might look stupid, it might work
- 45:12really well.
- 45:13My texture is also not helping. I could
- 45:16have picked a better one.
- 45:18Realizing now. Impacts, we'll get rid of
- 45:20that one just for now. And then we'll
- 45:23probably add another one with some
- 45:24squash.
- 45:26And randomize these rotations.
- 45:29I'm now realizing. Oh, brother.
- 45:32Oh, and I copied the entire slash.
- 45:35On my own, bro.
- 45:37That is what I'm trying to copy.
- 45:41There we go.
- 45:44That impact makes the highlight slightly
- 45:46better. It's still not amazing, but it's
- 45:49better.
- 45:50Uh we could probably add I could try and
- 45:53just make a glow out of it. That might
- 45:55look dumb, though. I don't really do
- 45:57glows on slashes.
- 46:00And I don't know anybody that does.
- 46:02Um
- 46:03this one maybe.
- 46:04Your glow should start at the right size
- 46:07and we'll kind of just
- 46:08do this with it.
- 46:14It's way too bright.
- 46:16Could be bigger. So, I think I'm going
- 46:18to add some like rocks or grass or
- 46:20something for some little debris effect
- 46:22here.
- 46:24Uh
- 46:24it is the next day. I added a tiny bit.
- 46:27As you can see, I
- 46:28just turned the effects back on for our
- 46:30slash and I
- 46:32duplicated one of the beams and moved it
- 46:34out slightly, but it's pretty much the
- 46:36same thing I had. Okay, so I'm going to
- 46:38duplicate just one of these randomly. It
- 46:40probably doesn't matter cuz none of them
- 46:42are close to what we're actually going
- 46:43to make.
- 46:45And we'll try rocks first.
- 46:50I personally kind of suck at debris, so
- 46:52we're going to see how this goes.
- 46:55I haven't done a lot of this.
- 46:56I think people actually do it from an
- 46:57attachment. Add one in there. Oh,
- 47:01where'd my other one go?
- 47:03Cool.
- 47:05So, now we're going to make this our
- 47:06rock.
- 47:08Speeds
- 47:10not good actually. We're going to set
- 47:12that to 90.
- 47:13Transparency back down. We're going to
- 47:15make these somewhat dark, so I wouldn't
- 47:17do light emission.
- 47:19Might be too bright, but we'll mess with
- 47:21it in a second. Our size, we're going to
- 47:23want it to shrink over the lifetime. Oh.
- 47:27That's not what I meant to do.
- 47:30Like that. It emits
- 47:33on our angle. Um I'm going to do like
- 47:35-30 acceleration maybe.
- 47:39We might have to change that. And our
- 47:40lifetime's also not amazing. We'll like
- 47:430.5 to 1. Rocks should last a bit
- 47:45longer.
- 47:48We're also going to make them
- 47:50uh tiny.
- 47:58I might up the speed and do drag instead
- 48:01cuz I feel like it's going out really
- 48:02slowly.
- 48:05Do like five maybe? That might be a lot.
- 48:10Do like three.
- 48:12Yeah, this is kind of weird. I can't
- 48:15lie. I think I'm going to emit it from
- 48:17the side
- 48:18and do like what? 4180 maybe?
- 48:23So now it doesn't emit on the top. It's
- 48:24just like a ring.
- 48:27So should go more out than up. I'm going
- 48:30to up the side or the speed again. Let's
- 48:32try and add some grass now.
- 48:35Or leaf maybe? I don't know.
- 48:39We'll have to just find some. So we're
- 48:41going to want this to be green again.
- 48:44Uh it doesn't really matter. I'll just
- 48:45pick a green color.
- 48:47It's already kind of dark, so that's
- 48:49fine. I'm size it up with my polygon
- 48:51instead so I don't have to drag the
- 48:52graph.
- 48:54I might make this go a bit further
- 48:57out like less envelope. Maybe one more
- 49:00size up. That might be too much.
- 49:02That's too much.
- 49:04Oh, this one.
- 49:06Oh, cuz the leaves plural so names.
- 49:09Okay. Do like point two
- 49:12maybe.
- 49:13This is a case where I'm not too
- 49:15confident in what I'm doing
- 49:17cuz I don't do like slash debris much.
- 49:20So I'm going to go and find a reference
- 49:22video
- 49:23which I haven't done yet for all these
- 49:25tutorials. I know exactly who I'm going
- 49:28to go look for, too. Here he is. I love
- 49:30this man. All right, so we're going to
- 49:32look at some of this guy's stuff for
- 49:33reference. Uh this isn't I can't see his
- 49:36actual name on stream road.
- 49:39I'll find it. But he does a lot of
- 49:41slashes and they are very good.
- 49:50>> [snorts]
- 49:54>> See the kid doesn't even spam it, but it
- 49:56works. So maybe we'll do something more
- 49:58like that. Don't be afraid to use
- 50:00references, especially if you're just
- 50:02like practicing like I am. So I did
- 50:04notice his stuff went a lot quicker.
- 50:08So we'll up it to 100, put the drag at
- 50:10like seven maybe. There we go. That
- 50:13actually looks better already. And I'm
- 50:15probably going to emit less cuz I'm
- 50:17realizing I have a lot flying out. We
- 50:19might do a slightly brighter green. So
- 50:21we're going to like point six maybe. Oh,
- 50:23no, point four.
- 50:25That's all right.
- 50:26I don't even like this texture actually.
- 50:28I might just swap it out for a single
- 50:29leaf.
- 50:31Yeah, that's a lot better.
- 50:33So yeah, like I said, don't be afraid to
- 50:34use references. That was a pretty good
- 50:36way to use them if you're just trying to
- 50:38like figure out how to do one specific
- 50:40thing. And it definitely helps if you
- 50:41know somebody who's already good at that
- 50:43that you can just look up. Like I know
- 50:44Roan is very good at slashes, so I
- 50:47always go to his stuff if I'm stuck.
- 50:49This is going pretty well.
- 50:51I'm noticing our like circular wind
- 50:53starting to get covered up.
- 50:56So I'm going to go here,
- 50:58grab it.
- 51:00Yeah, we'll grab both of them actually.
- 51:04We're just going to scale them up.
- 51:08Cool.
- 51:11And I'm going to make them both rotate a
- 51:13bit more along the actual slash now.
- 51:18Like yeah, there so it spins in the
- 51:20direction slash a bit.
- 51:22And I'll probably lower that a little
- 51:24bit.
- 51:25We'll do it a bit random. Yeah, like
- 51:27that is a real nice.
- 51:29Um that's not what I was trying to grab.
- 51:32They are a bit bright though.
- 51:34So I'm going to
- 51:36lower the brightness.
- 51:38Because we have light emission, we can
- 51:40just use brightness to control our
- 51:41transparency. Uh I don't know why my
- 51:43highlight's not
- 51:46Sometimes if your game lags, it'll just
- 51:48freeze.
- 51:50So, if I set that back to one, okay,
- 51:52yeah, it works now. Yeah, like if you're
- 51:54loop emitting in Moon Animator, you like
- 51:56if you have a second monitor like I do,
- 51:58if you click off or if your game lags,
- 52:00sometimes, and you've probably seen it,
- 52:02the mesh tools will get stuck, your
- 52:03highlight will
- 52:05cancel the tween.
- 52:07Just reset it, it'll work just fine. I
- 52:10really don't know if we need much else.
- 52:12I might add like a little wind effect on
- 52:15the sword while he's charging,
- 52:17but it's pretty fast, so it might look
- 52:19dumb.
- 52:20But, we could try it. I have this from
- 52:22something super old I did, but we should
- 52:25be able to use it.
- 52:27Um we're going to copy these.
- 52:30I don't really need that part. I'm just
- 52:32going to throw them in the sword
- 52:34if I can find it. Uh flip that, so it's
- 52:37the right way up.
- 52:39Put it over the handle.
- 52:42This is super sharp at the end.
- 52:45Some of change that. I might just
- 52:48stretch the end.
- 52:50Like
- 52:52move this back,
- 52:54so the transparency starts earlier.
- 52:56And then we'll
- 52:58do a little like
- 53:00exponential.
- 53:01We'll do a little curve there. And then
- 53:03we'll just drag this up a bit more.
- 53:06There we go. I think that works better.
- 53:08We'll have to emit these to see.
- 53:10Yeah, I like that a lot better than what
- 53:12I had.
- 53:14I'm also going to speed these up, cuz I
- 53:15think it's going to look weird.
- 53:18Maybe not that, like 1.5. So, now we're
- 53:20going to need another key frame for
- 53:21this, and we are going to
- 53:24just disable it right in this script. We
- 53:27are going to add a variable for our
- 53:29sword now.
- 53:30Oh, nope.
- 53:32local sword equals
- 53:38dot Oh, what was it called?
- 53:41cylinder
- 53:43there. Okay, now we're going to go all
- 53:44the way down.
- 53:46Love you and sword
- 53:49do
- 53:54Then uh we're going to
- 53:57The slash is going to cover it up
- 53:59actually. I think.
- 54:01So, we're just going to turn it off.
- 54:03We're not even going to fade it out.
- 54:04We're just going to get rid of it. Add
- 54:06this back in both of them.
- 54:08Actually, I didn't even need to change
- 54:10this one cuz it'll be off by the time
- 54:11that's there. We're just going to add a
- 54:13new script in the slash.
- 54:16Um what will we even call it? Sword
- 54:18effect, I guess.
- 54:29Same thing we did before.
- 54:40equals true
- 54:41We might
- 54:43Hmm.
- 54:49with one
- 54:52Do that. Set them to zero.
- 54:55See, this thing already knows what I'm
- 54:56trying to do.
- 54:58full
- 55:00Again, we're going to define our tween
- 55:01service.
- 55:06tween new
- 55:08We're probably going to want it to
- 55:09appear pretty quick. So, I'm going to do
- 55:11like 25.
- 55:14And then we're going to tween our beams
- 55:17up to 25.
- 55:19And it I don't think I deleted this one.
- 55:22I don't want that.
- 55:24We info
- 55:27Oh.
- 55:28with one equals
- 55:30with one
- 55:43>> Okay, so this should work.
- 55:45So it's going to start it. It's going to
- 55:46set two variables to what the size is.
- 55:49It's going to set it to zero and then
- 55:50it's going to put it back up to the
- 55:51size. Hopefully that works. We'll see.
- 55:56I wouldn't trust myself. There we go.
- 56:00Bah.
- 56:02Now it didn't disable them.
- 56:04Oh, it's because I added the script in.
- 56:07Okay, hold up.
- 56:14Okay.
- 56:15It's I'm just stupid.
- 56:17Okay, there we go.
- 56:19>> [laughter]
- 56:19>> I was like, what? Okay, so now it shows
- 56:22up and I think I want it to be bigger
- 56:24than this probably.
- 56:27I don't know why my segments is 100. It
- 56:28doesn't curve. You don't need to up your
- 56:31segments unless it curves.
- 56:33We will
- 56:35up our size.
- 56:37That's probably good. We'll move this
- 56:38even more out now.
- 56:41Like that.
- 56:44Bah. Like that is
- 56:46not too bad.
- 56:48I don't The animation like twitches,
- 56:49which is weird.
- 56:51It's an actual effect this works fine,
- 56:53but the animation's all See like why
- 56:56does it bounce?
- 56:59Bop.
- 57:00Arm bounces back. I don't know if I
- 57:02accidentally dragged a keyframe where it
- 57:03shouldn't be.
- 57:05Cuz I do that a lot. I think I also want
- 57:07these slashes to be bigger.
- 57:10So I'm going to
- 57:12like I said it before,
- 57:14since this is a model we can just change
- 57:16our scale here. And we're going to have
- 57:18to scale down the ground cuz I don't
- 57:20want that to be
- 57:24any bigger.
- 57:26But
- 57:28that might be fine.
- 57:31>> [sighs]
- 57:33>> Make sure everything is where it should
- 57:35be.
- 57:36Doesn't look too stupid.
- 57:38Ground could probably be a little bit
- 57:40bigger than that.
- 57:411.3
- 57:44Yeah, like that's fine.
- 57:47I think I'm happy with this. I can't
- 57:48lie.
- 57:49It's better than the stuff I normally
- 57:51make.
- 57:52>> [laughter]
- 57:53>> All right. Well, thank you for watching.
- 57:55I hope I could teach you something good.
- 57:57I'm pretty happy with how this turned
- 57:59out. I definitely notice I work a lot
- 58:01better when I'm being watched if I'm
- 58:03like recording or something. So, that's
- 58:05nice. But, anyways, thank you for
- 58:07watching and I hope you have a good day.
