- 0:00do you need a pair of gloves for your
- 0:01next cosplay or costume
- 0:03want them to match perfectly with the
- 0:05rest of your outfit and want to make
- 0:07them quickly
- 0:08then here is an easy tutorial just for
- 0:14you
- 0:19what you'll need stretch fabric
- 0:21preferably four-way but two-way will
- 0:23also work in a pinch
- 0:24fabrics like lycra or spandex will work
- 0:27the best
- 0:28paper permanent marker ruler
- 0:31paper scissors fabric scissors pins
- 0:34thread and a sewing machine also as an
- 0:37optional tool
- 0:38a fabric marker i'm using this air
- 0:41erasable felt tip pen
- 0:42that has its marks disappear over time
- 0:45let's begin
- 0:47the first thing you need to do is make a
- 0:49pattern lay out your paper
- 0:51and then grab your permanent marker and
- 0:53well your hand
- 0:54or rather whoever's hand the glove is
- 0:56going to go on lay your hand over the
- 0:58paper and trace around it like you did
- 1:00when you were in the first grade
- 1:01let's do that with the power of editing
- 1:04you see that i've actually traced up my
- 1:06arm as well as this is going to be a
- 1:08long
- 1:08elegant glove as a quick side note this
- 1:11is just one example
- 1:13this same method can be used to create
- 1:15any sort of glove like this very short
- 1:17wrist glove or this slightly longer but
- 1:20fingerless glove
- 1:21any style you wish to create can be done
- 1:24using this method
- 1:25right back to the tutorial next it is
- 1:28time to add a seam allowance
- 1:30so grab your marker again and a ruler i
- 1:32mark out one half centimeters all around
- 1:34the top of the glove
- 1:35and then about one centimeter around the
- 1:37hand up from the wrist
- 1:39then i connect all the points up to get
- 1:41the end pattern
- 1:42with that complete simply cut out your
- 1:44pattern piece
- 1:48now it's time to cut out the first glove
- 1:50fold over your fabric
- 1:52pin your pattern piece down and cut it
- 1:54out this will be your front
- 1:56and back pieces for one of the gloves do
- 1:59not cut out your second glove just yet
- 2:02then re-pin the glove without the
- 2:03pattern piece
- 2:06the next step is optional but very
- 2:08helpful lay your hand down
- 2:10over the pattern piece and with your
- 2:12fabric marker not your permanent marker
- 2:14retrace your hand and even your arm onto
- 2:17the pattern piece
- 2:18you can skip this step if you wish but i
- 2:20have found this leads to a more
- 2:22correct fit over to the sewing machine
- 2:25we go now
- 2:26swap your stitch over to your regular
- 2:28zigzag stitch
- 2:30now it's time to sew the glove together
- 2:32if you've marked it all out
- 2:33this will be very simple just follow the
- 2:36line
- 2:37as a bit of a tip sew on the outside of
- 2:39the line
- 2:40rather than directly on it and give
- 2:42yourself a bit more space at the wrist
- 2:44than what the line dictates
- 2:46with the glove freshly sewn try it on
- 2:48inside out
- 2:50this is your chance to test the fit does
- 2:52it need to be taken in or let out
- 2:54anywhere
- 2:54are any of the fingers too long or too
- 2:56short make the changes now
- 2:59mine fits pretty well and to test
- 3:01mobility i cut the fabric down between
- 3:03the fingers
- 3:04i cut as close as i can to the stitches
- 3:07without cutting them
- 3:08the closer to the point you can get the
- 3:10better
- 3:14with my now proven perfect pattern i lay
- 3:17my existing glove
- 3:19over another section of folded fabric
- 3:21and cut out my second glove
- 3:23i then followed the same steps i took
- 3:25for my first glove
- 3:28with both of my gloves now complete i
- 3:30cut away the excess
- 3:32fabric from the seams once again the
- 3:34closer
- 3:35the better as these are tight fitting
- 3:37gloves you want as
- 3:38little bulk as possible at the seams
- 3:42to check that you have cut enough away
- 3:44turn the gloves the right
- 3:46side out and do a test fit
- 3:50oh my looking classy
- 3:53the very last step is to finish off the
- 3:55opening
- 3:56turn the fabric in on itself so it
- 3:58creates a small hem and sew it down with
- 4:00a zigzag stitch
- 4:02clip away the excess and with that
- 4:06your gloves are now complete it is that
- 4:09simple to create gloves that will
- 4:11perfectly match your outfit
- 4:12not to mention that they will fit your
- 4:14hands perfectly too
- 4:17they are so perfect that they are even
- 4:20puppy approved don't worry pup these are
- 4:22not the same ones that the vets use
- 4:25i hope that you enjoyed that quick
