- 0:14give you six tips to help you write a
- 0:17teaching philosophy okay
- 0:19it's job search time you've sent out
- 0:22your CV you've lined up all of your
- 0:24letters of recommendation but you still
- 0:27have to write a teaching philosophy
- 0:29I know it's daunting but don't worry
- 0:32yours will be good now let's get started
- 0:34tip 1 do a little research know a little
- 0:38bit about every different institution
- 0:40that you're applying to because you'll
- 0:41probably have to ride many different
- 0:43teaching statements make sure to do
- 0:45research on every institution and its
- 0:48teaching culture
- 0:49tip 2 begin at the end what do you want
- 0:53your students to leave your course with
- 0:55what are your eating objectives
- 0:57tip 3 don't make empty statements be
- 1:01specific
- 1:02lots of teaching statements start with
- 1:04sweeping philosophical declarations the
- 1:07good ones anchor the general and
- 1:09something concrete like an example that
- 1:11you can visualize tip 4 who influenced
- 1:15you explain where you got your idea
- 1:17about pedagogy and why
- 1:24tip five
- 1:25keep your statements short and
- 1:27well-written be yourself just don't
- 1:30sound like a know-it-all tip six it's
- 1:33about the students stupid if you're
- 1:36going to mention technology or teaching
- 1:39innovations make sure that you talk
- 1:41about how the students reacted now
- 1:45let's present teachers philosophy for
