Full transcript
- 0:00Welcome to Ufly UAS tutorials.
- 0:03In this video, I'll introduce the new No
- 0:05Limit Drones FCC Android only
- 0:08application and explore some of the
- 0:10drone hacks modifications it offers.
- 0:13These features include fly up to 500 m
- 0:16and flying at faster speeds. It also
- 0:18removes CO altitude and speed
- 0:20restrictions on any smart RC.
- 0:23The application also offers FCC mode for
- 0:25both 2.4 and 5.8 GHz along with offline
- 0:29operation and automatic startup.
- 0:32You can also enable 4G connectivity
- 0:34without a DJI subscription, although
- 0:37you'll still need a compatible DJI 4G
- 0:39dongle and a valid Nano SIM card.
- 0:42The free parameter editor provides
- 0:44access to supported flight controller,
- 0:46aircraft OS, camera, and gimbal
- 0:49parameters.
- 0:50You can also create customizable
- 0:52parameter macros for functions such as
- 0:54the LEDs, GPS, and atti mode and access
- 0:58those macros directly over supported
- 1:00flight applications using the free
- 1:02flight overlay buttons.
- 1:04I will be testing this application with
- 1:06my DJI Mini 5 Pro, but you can try this
- 1:09with any DJI drone you currently have.
- 1:12This video is for educational purposes
- 1:14only.
- 1:15Always follow all applicable rules and
- 1:17regulations.
- 1:19You are solely responsible for your
- 1:20actions and for operating your drone
- 1:22safely and legally. Since I'm using a
- 1:24Mac, I'll download OpenMTP, a small
- 1:27open-source application available on
- 1:29GitHub.
- 1:31It allows my Mac to access the internal
- 1:33storage of the DJI RC 2 controller, so I
- 1:36can browse its folders and transfer
- 1:38files. Open your preferred web browser
- 1:40and navigate to openmtp.org.
- 1:44Click download and you'll be redirected
- 1:46to the project's GitHub page.
- 1:48On the right side of the page, find
- 1:50releases and select the latest OpenMTP
- 1:53release.
- 1:55Since I'm using an Intel-based Mac, I'll
- 1:57download the macOS X64 DMG file.
- 2:01If you have an Apple Silicon Mac, choose
- 2:03the ARM64 version instead. Once the file
- 2:06has finished downloading, open your
- 2:08downloads folder.
- 2:10Right-click the OpenMTP DMG file, and
- 2:13then select open. Drag the OpenMTP icon
- 2:16into the applications folder.
- 2:18Since I already have an earlier version
- 2:20installed, my Mac will ask whether I
- 2:22want to replace it.
- 2:24Once the installation is complete, open
- 2:26the applications folder and locate
- 2:28OpenMTP.
- 2:30Right-click the application and select
- 2:32open.
- 2:33If you see this warning message, click
- 2:35okay.
- 2:36Then, select the Apple menu in the upper
- 2:38left corner of your screen and open
- 2:41system settings, and navigate to privacy
- 2:43and security, and click open anyway.
- 2:46Then, click open.
- 2:48Enter your computer password when
- 2:50prompted. Or, like in my case, use Touch
- 2:53ID to authorize and launch the
- 2:54application. I can now close the system
- 2:57settings window.
- 2:58While OpenMTP is launching, I'll drag
- 3:01its icon to the dock so I can access it
- 3:03more easily in the future. Great.
- 3:05OpenMTP is now running and waiting for
- 3:07me to connect my DJI RC 2 controller.
- 3:10Power on your controller, and then
- 3:12connect your Mac to the DJI RC 2 using a
- 3:15USB-C data cable. Great. We now have
- 3:18access to the files and folders on the
- 3:20DJI RC 2 controller.
- 3:22We'll use the downloads folder to
- 3:24transfer the No Limit Drones FCC app and
- 3:27the Android package installer. Let's
- 3:29minimize OpenMTP. Open your preferred
- 3:31web browser and navigate to
- 3:33nolimitdrones.com.
- 3:35You'll also find the link in the video
- 3:37description. Click download, and then
- 3:39select the version intended for the
- 3:41smart remote controller.
- 3:43The other option is designed for
- 3:44compatible Android tablets and phones.
- 3:47Since this tutorial uses the DJI RC 2,
- 3:50we'll download the smart RC version. Now
- 3:53that the download is complete, close the
- 3:55No Limit Drones website and open your
- 3:57downloads folder.
- 3:59Locate the No Limit Drones FCC Smart RC
- 4:02folder and open it.
- 4:04Inside, you should find three files.
- 4:07A text document containing the
- 4:08installation instructions,
- 4:10the No Limit Drones FCC application
- 4:12file, and the package installer.
- 4:15Highlight the package installer.apk file
- 4:18with the No Limit Drone FCC.apk
- 4:21file and launch Open MTP.
- 4:24Look for the download folder in the DJI
- 4:26RC 2 controller and open it.
- 4:28Now drag the two files that you
- 4:30highlighted into the downloads folder of
- 4:32the DJI RC 2 controller. And just like
- 4:35that, you transferred the two files to
- 4:37the controller, as you can see here.
- 4:39We can now close Open MTP and close any
- 4:42window that you have open. You can now
- 4:44safely disconnect the USB-C cable from
- 4:47your controller.
- 4:48Now the first thing we need to run is
- 4:50the package installer.
- 4:52To do that, swipe down from the top of
- 4:54your controller to bring out the Android
- 4:56interface menu. Click the settings icon.
- 4:59Next, select storage, followed by music
- 5:01and audio.
- 5:03From there, open audio files, tap the
- 5:05three lines menu icon in the top left
- 5:08corner, and choose downloads. You are
- 5:10now inside the downloads folder, where
- 5:13you'll find the two files previously
- 5:14transferred to the controller. First,
- 5:17launch the package installer by double
- 5:18tapping the file, then select continue,
- 5:21and click install. Next, double tap the
- 5:24No Limit Drones FCC.apk file, select
- 5:27continue, tap install, and open the
- 5:30application. Great.
- 5:32Now that the application is installed,
- 5:34let's review its interface and available
- 5:36features. This No Limit Drones hack
- 5:39includes a complimentary 6-hour free
- 5:41trial, allowing you to test the software
- 5:43before committing to a purchase, as
- 5:45shown on the website here. The good
- 5:47thing about this hack is that once you
- 5:49install it in your your drones
- 5:53that connect to the RC 2 controller or
- 5:55for all the drones that use your Android
- 5:57phone or tablet.
- 5:58Support is also available for older DJI
- 6:01smart controllers. All right, let's
- 6:03power on the DJI Mini 5 Pro and wait for
- 6:06it to connect to the controller. Now
- 6:08that we're connected, let's go over the
- 6:10interface.
- 6:11On the top left, you'll see the model of
- 6:13your drone and the serial number. And on
- 6:15the bottom left, you'll see your
- 6:17controller model and the serial number.
- 6:19In the top middle, this is where you can
- 6:21turn on and off your LED lights of your
- 6:23drone.
- 6:24You can turn off GPS on your drone.
- 6:27If you turn off GPS, you are disabling
- 6:29remote ID on your drone.
- 6:31You can also activate ATI mode instead
- 6:33of Cine mode.
- 6:34And you can also add other
- 6:36functionalities using this hack.
- 6:38On the top right, you'll see enable FCC
- 6:41mode which adds FCC to those countries
- 6:43that don't have FCC available. This hack
- 6:46also removes any altitude restrictions
- 6:48from your drone.
- 6:49The free parameter editor lets you
- 6:51increase your drone speed.
- 6:53It also enables the fly overlay using
- 6:55macros so that you can see the options
- 6:57through the DJI Fly app.
- 7:00You can also launch the DJI Fly app
- 7:02right from the No Limit Drones FCC app.
- 7:05This hack virtually lets you modify
- 7:07anything on your drone.
- 7:09The best part of this hack is that it
- 7:11stays on the notification window all the
- 7:13time so you can launch it anytime you
- 7:15want or switch between DJI Fly app and
- 7:18No Limit Drone FCC app. Since I cannot
- 7:21legally go outside and try all these
- 7:22functionalities because I'll be breaking
- 7:24FAA rules and regulations, I can tell
- 7:27you that all these functionalities do
- 7:29work as I try some of these inside the
- 7:31house.
- 7:32It's the only space that I can try this
- 7:33without violating FAA rules.
- 7:36As I stated before, please follow all
- 7:38rules and regulations.
- 7:40This tutorial is for educational
- 7:42purposes only and nothing else. If you
- 7:44purchase a license from No Limit Drones,
- 7:47you need to click enable FCC mode, then
- 7:49click enable FCC mode again, and this is
- 7:52where you can enter your email and
- 7:54activation key to activate the license
- 7:56for your controller.
