  1. 0:00The moment you realize that you have the
  2. 0:02power to turn off your thoughts, you're
  3. 0:04well on your way to lasting peace of
  4. 0:06mind, my friend. You see, a lot of
  5. 0:08people say, "Well, you can't turn off
  6. 0:10your thoughts. It's not possible. Don't
  7. 0:12try it." But, they're wrong. They're all
  8. 0:14wrong.
  9. 0:15Because the truth is, you can turn off
  10. 0:18your thoughts. The only problem is, you
  11. 0:20can only do it for really short amount
  12. 0:23of time.
  13. 0:24And so, what we can do is we can build
  14. 0:26the amount of time in which we can turn
  15. 0:28off our thoughts, so it becomes easier
  16. 0:30and easier and easier to just naturally
  17. 0:33remain at peace. Because the truth is,
  18. 0:36peace is the default state. Peace is
  19. 0:38down here. And all of our thoughts and
  20. 0:40all of this crazy stuff is going up
  21. 0:42here.
  22. 0:43And so, it's like you don't have to
  23. 0:45actually get rid of your thoughts in
  24. 0:47order to be at peace. But, it helps
  25. 0:49because
  26. 0:51we're too busy focusing on all of the
  27. 0:53thoughts that we don't ever even
  28. 0:55recognize the peace. See, what people
  29. 0:57actually mean
  30. 0:58when they say, "Don't try to force your
  31. 1:00thoughts to stop." The reason that often
  32. 1:03doesn't work for people is because their
  33. 1:06mind is trying to stop the mind. And
  34. 1:09that doesn't work because the mind
  35. 1:11itself is the problem. The problem is,
  36. 1:14the mind is dealing with the thoughts,
  37. 1:16and you don't have to do that. You only
  38. 1:18have to surrender the mind into the
  39. 1:20peace that already exists. And then, the
  40. 1:24thoughts turn off automatically. Because
  41. 1:26without the mind, there are no thoughts.
  42. 1:29So, you don't got to worry about the
  43. 1:30thoughts at all. You only have to
  44. 1:33recognize and return to and become
  45. 1:35familiar with the underlying peace that
  46. 1:37is always here. Like a storm, like in
  47. 1:41the water, like in ocean or something
  48. 1:42like that.
  49. 1:43On the surface, it could be going all
  50. 1:45kinds of crazy. But, underneath, as you
  51. 1:48go deeper and deeper down, there's
  52. 1:51stillness. And in that stillness, there
  53. 1:54is peace. So, one of the main beliefs
  54. 1:56that we have to destroy
  55. 1:58is that in order for us to be peace, the
  56. 2:01thoughts have to go away. And that's
  57. 2:03just not true.
  58. 2:04Because you can have moments of peace
  59. 2:07and begin stacking those moments so you
  60. 2:09build a more stable baseline of peace,
  61. 2:13but that doesn't mean the thoughts have
  62. 2:14to go away.
  63. 2:16It's just your mind's recognition. How
  64. 2:19able are you
  65. 2:21to ground your mind, ground your
  66. 2:24attention in that peace rather in the
  67. 2:27thoughts.
  68. 2:28So for example, what is likely happening
  69. 2:30right now is that your mind is getting
  70. 2:32pulled into your thoughts. Your
  71. 2:34attention is getting pulled into your
  72. 2:35thoughts and that's what creates the
  73. 2:36suffering.
  74. 2:37Because if you're having negative
  75. 2:38thoughts, it's going to give you
  76. 2:39negative feelings like fear, worry,
  77. 2:41anxiety, all of that jazz.
  78. 2:44And then you're not going to feel very
  79. 2:45good now, are you?
  80. 2:47But
  81. 2:48the thoughts are like clouds passing
  82. 2:51through the sky. We project meaning onto
  83. 2:54them and because we project that meaning
  84. 2:56onto them, that is why we suffer. And so
  85. 2:58it's this game of like ping pong. You
  86. 3:01like pong?
  87. 3:02Basically
  88. 3:03you go into the peace and then you get
  89. 3:05pulled out of it, you get pulled into
  90. 3:07your thoughts out of habit. And then you
  91. 3:08return to the peace and then you get
  92. 3:10pulled back into your thoughts out of
  93. 3:11habit.
  94. 3:12And you just go back and forth and all
  95. 3:14you got to do is persist.
  96. 3:15Because
  97. 3:17well, we have to realize that we spent
  98. 3:20our whole lives feeding the mind,
  99. 3:23feeding our thoughts. So you think it's
  100. 3:25just going to randomly one night just
  101. 3:27oh, I'm not I'm no longer having to
  102. 3:28think. Your attention through habit is
  103. 3:32getting pulled into those thoughts. And
  104. 3:34so by building a new habit of grounding
  105. 3:37your attention in that peace, over time
  106. 3:41that becomes your new normal, your new
  107. 3:42default state. And so you see like the
  108. 3:45the power that I've developed over the
  109. 3:48however many years of doing certain
  110. 3:50practices
  111. 3:51when the thoughts come up and they come
  112. 3:53up I can like dissolve them as soon as
  113. 3:56they come up. It doesn't That doesn't
  114. 3:58mean they don't keep coming up.
  115. 4:00But
  116. 4:02my ability to dissolve the thoughts
  117. 4:05is more powerful than the thought
  118. 4:07themselves.
  119. 4:08And this is a power that you have, but
  120. 4:10it has to be developed, trained, and and
  121. 4:13built. It's a skill. And once you have
  122. 4:16this power, your thoughts stop running
  123. 4:19your life so much. I mean, think about
  124. 4:21it. How often does some problem happen
  125. 4:24in your life?
  126. 4:25And then you can't stop ruminating on
  127. 4:27it. You can't stop thinking about it.
  128. 4:28And that sucks really bad. And it keeps
  129. 4:30you stuck in the problem. And the reason
  130. 4:33this happens is because the thoughts
  131. 4:37create feelings. And the feelings are
  132. 4:39really what grip your cheeks. They're
  133. 4:41really what keep you feeling stuck.
  134. 4:43Because the feelings are really strong.
  135. 4:46And so, if you can't stop thinking about
  136. 4:48the certain something, well, then you
  137. 4:50also can't stop feeling about a certain
  138. 4:52something.
  139. 4:53And that creates a strong emotional
  140. 4:55memory in the body that keeps you a
  141. 4:58slave to these stories, to these
  142. 5:01patterns, whatever it is. But, if you
  143. 5:03continue to surrender the story, you
  144. 5:06prevent those thoughts from spiraling
  145. 5:08out of control.
  146. 5:09Then now you feel less strongly about
  147. 5:12them. So, they're less gripping, and you
  148. 5:14can remain more free. And most people
  149. 5:16don't even realize that they have this
  150. 5:18power because they're so conditioned to
  151. 5:21be thinking all the time that they
  152. 5:23couldn't imagine that they don't have to
  153. 5:26actually entertain all of these stories
  154. 5:29and all of these thoughts. And so, one
  155. 5:30of the methods that I show you in the
  156. 5:32Monkey Mind Mastery Dojo, link is below,
  157. 5:35is a safe space method. And this is
  158. 5:37primarily what we can use
  159. 5:40to turn off our mind. So, right now
  160. 5:43within you, there is a sense of inner
  161. 5:45spaciousness.
  162. 5:47You may recognize it, you may not. Most
  163. 5:49people don't. You can literally just
  164. 5:51shift your awareness into your body and
  165. 5:53recognize that sense of inner
  166. 5:54spaciousness. And once you recognize it,
  167. 5:57that's step one. So, you recognize, and
  168. 6:00then you return. Imagine the safe space
  169. 6:03like um like a sterile room or something
  170. 6:06like that, where there's no bacteria,
  171. 6:08there's no viruses, nothing. It's super
  172. 6:09clean everywhere, like a doctor's
  173. 6:12office. Negative thoughts cannot thrive
  174. 6:16in a sterile environment. And so, what
  175. 6:17you do is like you continue washing
  176. 6:19yourself, washing your mind in this safe
  177. 6:22space.
  178. 6:23And over time, you become more and more
  179. 6:25clean, and negative thoughts can't stick
  180. 6:28to you as much. And so, we train our
  181. 6:31minds to return here again and again and
  182. 6:34again.
  183. 6:36And the more familiar we become, the
  184. 6:38more easy it is to remain here. But like
  185. 6:41any new habit, it may be a little bit
  186. 6:43difficult at first. But you just keep
  187. 6:45returning, keep returning again, just
  188. 6:47washing yourself here. And all of those
  189. 6:50negative thoughts and all of their
  190. 6:51filthiness,
  191. 6:52they begin to wash away.
  192. 6:54And to the degree in which you can
  193. 6:56remain here in the safe space,
  194. 6:59determines the
  195. 7:02baseline of peace that you experience.
  196. 7:04So, in the beginning, you may not be
  197. 7:06able to be here for very long. You'll be
  198. 7:08here, and then you get pulled back into
  199. 7:09your thoughts, and then you'll be here,
  200. 7:10and then you'll be pulled back into your
  201. 7:12thoughts.
  202. 7:13And as you do it, you can remain here
  203. 7:15longer and longer and longer. But the
  204. 7:17only way to do that is to actually
  205. 7:18practice it. How else are you going to,
  206. 7:20you know, get to that point? And you may
  207. 7:23even notice it right now. You can take a
  208. 7:25moment
  209. 7:26and see your thoughts. If your thoughts
  210. 7:28are going crazy, or even if not, just
  211. 7:29any thoughts at all. And then you return
  212. 7:32your attention into the present moment,
  213. 7:33into your body.
  214. 7:35If you can recognize the inner
  215. 7:36spaciousness, you'll notice that
  216. 7:39for at least a moment, there is a gap in
  217. 7:42thoughts. And in that gap, there is
  218. 7:45Well, there's peace, and there's
  219. 7:47freedom, and there's space. That's what
  220. 7:49a gap is. It's space. Like when you
  221. 7:51breathe, there's a gap in between the
  222. 7:54breaths, and that gap is recognizing
  223. 7:57that sense of inner spaciousness. The
  224. 7:58inner spaciousness is always there,
  225. 8:01but like the silence all around you, you
  226. 8:05don't really pay attention to it. You
  227. 8:07pay attention to the noise because that
  228. 8:09is what the mind
  229. 8:11deems as valuable. The sounds,
  230. 8:15the meaning of the sounds, the
  231. 8:17interpretation of the sounds.
  232. 8:19But the silence, what use does the mind
  233. 8:22have for the silence? Not really much
  234. 8:24use at all.
  235. 8:26Because the mind and the silence
  236. 8:29are not really compatible. The mind is
  237. 8:30always noisy. It's always about noise
  238. 8:33and stuff and things.
  239. 8:36But silence is emptiness. It's
  240. 8:38nothingness.
  241. 8:39So the mind naturally ignores it. And
  242. 8:42yet it's everywhere. Look around you.
  243. 8:45There's literally space everywhere
  244. 8:48across the entire universe. Infinite
  245. 8:51eternal space.
  246. 8:53And yet when was the last time you even
  247. 8:55noticed the space? Probably never.
  248. 8:57Because there's all kinds of stuff like
  249. 9:00this fancy bee.
  250. 9:01The bee is more interesting than the
  251. 9:03space because the bee has some kind of
  252. 9:05meaning.
  253. 9:06A fried chicken, apparently. And so we
  254. 9:09train our mind to recognize the silence
  255. 9:12and the space.
  256. 9:14And also the stillness. That's what
  257. 9:16we're looking for, that inner sense of
  258. 9:17stillness.
  259. 9:19It doesn't have to be cultivated, it
  260. 9:20doesn't have to be created, it just has
  261. 9:22to be recognized and returned to. And so
  262. 9:26if you do this, what you'll notice is
  263. 9:28that you'll thought your thoughts will
  264. 9:29turn off just for a moment.
  265. 9:32And because we haven't grounded
  266. 9:33ourselves here enough, they'll keep
  267. 9:35going. But you want to just pay
  268. 9:37attention to that lapse in thought.
  269. 9:39And notice that you can expand it. You
  270. 9:41can expand that space. And you keep
  271. 9:44grounding your attention here more and
  272. 9:46more and more
  273. 9:48until you can remain here effortlessly.
  274. 9:51And that's when you experience a stable
  275. 9:53baseline of peace and freedom.
  276. 9:56But
  277. 9:57you don't have to spend years trying to
  278. 9:59get rid of your thoughts. You can find
  279. 10:00relief right now.
  280. 10:02Because in this safe space,
  281. 10:05that is the source of freedom. And with
  282. 10:07freedom, obviously you're going to find
  283. 10:08some relief. I am Ray, and if you're
  284. 10:10tired of your thoughts running your
  285. 10:12life, and you're ready to find relief,
