- 0:00this is how to edit a killer YouTube
- 0:01video to blow up your Channel watch
- 0:03closely because even the best script
- 0:05with most stunning footage can be ruined
- 0:07with a bad edit but what exactly makes a
- 0:10good YouTube edit what do the top
- 0:11YouTube editors know that we don't to
- 0:14find out I spent the last 42 days
- 0:16pouring over interviews listening to
- 0:18talks and analyzing timelines to the
- 0:20most successful creators in the world
- 0:22131 pages of notes later I realized that
- 0:25great YouTube edits aren't about fancy
- 0:27effects or expensive software the best
- 0:30best YouTube edits regardless of nature
- 0:32or video type follow a five-part formula
- 0:35and it all starts with an understanding
- 0:37of who the edit is for you see there's a
- 0:40common misconception that good editing
- 0:43means fast editing it's no secret that
- 0:45some of the biggest YouTubers on the
- 0:47platform make Fast Cuts so naturally we
- 0:50assume that in order to make a video
- 0:52that people will actually watch all the
- 0:53way through we need to do the same but
- 0:56in making this assumption we neglect the
- 0:59single most critical component of any
- 1:01edit and in a recent interview prolific
- 1:04YouTube strategist Patty Galloway
- 1:06confirmed the exact same thing so I
- 1:08would say my advice generally for a
- 1:10young editor is to really understand who
- 1:11you're editing for that's I think that's
- 1:13the first and foremost thing a video
- 1:14edited for the wrong audience can be
- 1:16jarring at best and flat out unwatchable
- 1:19at worst even if every technical detail
- 1:22is perfect take Mr Beast for example his
- 1:26primarily young male audience expects
- 1:28fast-paced videos packed with non-stop
- 1:31dopamine hits so as editing reflects
- 1:33that but imagine if he applied that same
- 1:36editing style to an educational video
- 1:38about early retirement it would Clash
- 1:40completely with the older audience's
- 1:42expectations for clarity and
- 1:44trustworthiness if your editing choices
- 1:47don't align with who your audience is
- 1:49what they want and what they expect it
- 1:51doesn't matter how clean your cuts are
- 1:53or how beautiful your transitions they
- 1:55won't watch your video won't blow up and
- 1:58your channel won't blow up So to avoid
- 2:01pouring countless hours into an edit
- 2:03that's doomed to fail from the very
- 2:04first cut it's worth taking the time to
- 2:07deeply understand who you're editing for
- 2:10first after you're 90% confident you
- 2:12have a good idea of your audience's
- 2:14wants and needs you're ready to move on
- 2:16to part two of the formula to make a
- 2:18killer YouTube edit to blow up your
- 2:19channel building your story We tend to
- 2:22think of editing as the process of
- 2:24making a video look and feel good and in
- 2:27a way that's true but in all of my
- 2:29research to prepare for this video
- 2:31there's one word that kept coming up
- 2:34again and again story story story story
- 2:37story story and while the idea of story
- 2:40or storytelling may seem like a buzz
- 2:42word that's only relevant if you're
- 2:43writing a book about Hobbits or dragons
- 2:46it actually applies to every YouTube
- 2:49video out there from a high stakes
- 2:50challenge to a cinematic Vlog to even a
- 2:53technical tutorial because at its core
- 2:56every story can be broken down into
- 2:58three key elements setup progress and
- 3:02payoff literally all the best performing
- 3:05videos on YouTube have those three
- 3:08elements let's break it down every video
- 3:10can be broken down into a series of
- 3:12payoffs these are the main beats or
- 3:14points of your video the moments that
- 3:16deliver the value that your audience
- 3:18came for these are the moments that make
- 3:20your video feel worth watching each pay
- 3:23off comes with its own setup which
- 3:26provides the purpose context and tone of
- 3:28the upcoming section it primes your
- 3:30audience to care about what's coming
- 3:32next it helps give your viewers a sense
- 3:34of structure and finally we have the
- 3:37progress which is anything that takes
- 3:39you from the setup to the payoff this is
- 3:42where you build tension and curiosity
- 3:44and where you deliver everything the
- 3:46viewer needs to experience the payoff
- 3:48and the storytelling framework isn't
- 3:50reserved for classically story-driven
- 3:53challenges here's the setup progress and
- 3:55payoff map of an educational video and
- 3:58here it is again applied to a blog this
- 4:00structure works across every video type
- 4:03because at the end of the day
- 4:05storytelling is a universal concept
- 4:08without the right setup your payoffs are
- 4:10unimportant or confusing without the
- 4:13right progress your payoffs are rushed
- 4:15or unearned and without the right
- 4:17payoffs themselves it doesn't matter how
- 4:19many flashy visual effects or fancy
- 4:21transitions you use your video itself
- 4:24isn't worth watching so to ensure
- 4:26there's even a story good enough to
- 4:28watch in the first place the best
- 4:30YouTube editors in the world map out the
- 4:32skeleton of their video before they even
- 4:35touch the timeline actually write down
- 4:38what's happening in the video I do that
- 4:40all the time like I I just call it the
- 4:42skeleton nothing too creative of the
- 4:44video I just write the entire script and
- 4:46then I just go at the top and like okay
- 4:47what what is the eight things like what
- 4:48are the eight different progressions the
- 4:50eight scenes or whatever in this video
- 4:52this skeleton makes it easier to
- 4:54identify any missing setups progressions
- 4:56or payoffs cut out any unnecessary
- 4:59tangents and ensure your base story is
- 5:01sound and if you have any Clips or
- 5:03segments that don't fit into a setup a
- 5:06progression or a payoff it probably
- 5:08doesn't belong in the video Even if you
- 5:10love a clip maybe it took you forever to
- 5:13film or maybe it was expensive to make
- 5:15if it doesn't serve the story it has to
- 5:18go this is what top editors call killing
- 5:21Your Darlings and while it may feel
- 5:22painful in the moment trust me I know
- 5:25it'll result in a tighter story a more
- 5:28compelling edit and or overall a better
- 5:31video once you've mapped out your story
- 5:33skeleton and trimmed any excess Clips
- 5:35you now have your starting point a
- 5:37version of your video that tells a clear
- 5:39and cohesive story but the best YouTube
- 5:42edits don't just tell the story they
- 5:44show it which brings us to part three in
- 5:47making a killer YouTube edit to blow up
- 5:49your Channel showing the story and this
- 5:51is where it gets interesting because
- 5:53anyone can just say something but taking
- 5:57me message or value of your video and
- 5:59finding a way to impart that value
- 6:01visually is what turns a passive viewer
- 6:04into an Engaged one as legendary YouTube
- 6:07editor Hayden Hiller Smith likes to say
- 6:09storytelling is the wrong word you need
- 6:12to be story showing the best YouTube
- 6:14editors in the world obsess over
- 6:16crafting a compelling visual experience
- 6:20and to do that they Master the three C's
- 6:22of YouTube visuals content Clarity and
- 6:26continuity the content is the what of
- 6:29the edit the type of visual that's being
- 6:31shown on screen and in most videos the
- 6:35base of the visual edit is constructed
- 6:37using two primary categories of footage
- 6:40a roll and b roll a roll is footage
- 6:43where someone is speaking directly to
- 6:45the camera the direct to viewer
- 6:47presentation creates a unique connection
- 6:49between the speaker and the viewer
- 6:51making the words spoken feel more
- 6:53personal by showing the emotion and
- 6:55delivery behind them and then there's
- 6:57b-roll which is supplementary footage
- 6:59that shows the viewer what you're
- 7:01talking about as opposed to just telling
- 7:03them and while Boll can take many forms
- 7:06it often falls into five main shot types
- 7:09wide shots which establish location to
- 7:11set the scene medium shots which capture
- 7:14the subject and the environment and
- 7:15equal Focus closeups which highlight
- 7:18details and then the extremes extreme
- 7:21wide shots which create a sense of scale
- 7:23or awe in extreme closeups which
- 7:26emphasize micro details for dramatic
- 7:29effect these clips can be used
- 7:30individually to enhance a specific
- 7:32phrase or sentence or combined into
- 7:35sequences for time- lapses montages and
- 7:37scenes together a r and b roll create a
- 7:41strong visual Foundation but they don't
- 7:43always convey everything your story
- 7:46needs which is where other types of
- 7:48visuals come in text can emphasize a key
- 7:51Point provide additional context and
- 7:53help transitions between sections screen
- 7:56recordings can help viewers follow along
- 7:58as you expect explain something images
- 8:00or icons can provide visual references
- 8:03for objects or concepts you mention
- 8:05external clips from other sources can
- 8:07provide context or add humor in a way
- 8:09that feels fresh or
- 8:13unexpected yeah baby and finally Motion
- 8:17Graphics can illustrate key points often
- 8:20being used to explain complex ideas or
- 8:22seamlessly transition between sections
- 8:25and while Motion Graphics can feel
- 8:27intimidating you can achieve most
- 8:28effects that you want using just three
- 8:31key frames position to move elements
- 8:33across the screen scale to make elements
- 8:36larger or smaller and opacity to fade
- 8:39elements in or out combine these basic
- 8:42key frames with simple cropping and
- 8:43layering you can easily create
- 8:45professional looking visuals that add
- 8:47Dimension and polish to your video but
- 8:50while it may feel tempting to jam as
- 8:52many visuals as humanly possible into
- 8:54your edit that could end up hurting
- 8:57rather than helping you just because you
- 8:59can add a visual doesn't mean that you
- 9:02should and overloading your video with
- 9:04unnecessary Graphics or cinematic shots
- 9:07risks distracting your viewers from the
- 9:09story itself every visual you add should
- 9:12have a purpose so choose the ones that
- 9:15enhance rather than distract from your
- 9:17story and remember that sometimes it's
- 9:20Simplicity that's the most effective
- 9:22with your visuals chosen you have the
- 9:24building blocks of a killer YouTube edit
- 9:26to blow up your channel but how you show
- 9:28your chosen footage and elements is just
- 9:31as if not more important than what you
- 9:34show which brings us to the second SE of
- 9:36YouTube visuals Clarity and at the heart
- 9:40of visual Clarity is one critical
- 9:42question where do you want your viewers
- 9:45to look you see every frame of your
- 9:47video has a focal point the single most
- 9:50important detail in that moment it could
- 9:53be you speaking to the camera a reaction
- 9:56a specific detail in your b-roll or
- 9:58anything else your job as an editor is
- 10:00to make that focal point crystal clear
- 10:04because if your viewer doesn't know
- 10:05where to look they'll get distracted
- 10:07confused or lose interest entirely the
- 10:11question is how do you effectively guide
- 10:13their attention the simplest way is
- 10:16through positioning most editors either
- 10:18place their focal point in the center of
- 10:19the frame or follow the rule of thirds
- 10:22aligning the focal point on the left or
- 10:24right third of the frame but positioning
- 10:26alone isn't always enough if the back
- 10:29background or competing elements draw
- 10:30too much attention away from your focal
- 10:32point you can guide the eye by masking
- 10:35out your focal point and creating
- 10:36separation through brightness where you
- 10:39darken everything other than the focal
- 10:40point color where you mute the
- 10:42surrounding tones and blur where you add
- 10:45a depth of field effect motion can also
- 10:48play significant role in guiding
- 10:50attention a quick zoom in or cut in
- 10:52immediately draws the eye to the subject
- 10:54of the zoom and movement within the shot
- 10:57effectively grabs attention as well well
- 10:59and if you're ever in a pinch a classic
- 11:01highlight Circle or Arrow can help quite
- 11:04literally point out the main subject of
- 11:07focus visual Clarity is about guidance
- 11:11by properly driving attention to the
- 11:12focal point you make it effortless for
- 11:15viewers to follow along and when the
- 11:16viewer doesn't have to think about where
- 11:18to look they're free to stay immersed in
- 11:20the story you're telling at this point
- 11:23you've chosen what to show and you
- 11:25decided how to show it but even the most
- 11:27beautifully composed shots feel jarring
- 11:30or disconnected if they don't flow
- 11:33together because editing isn't just
- 11:35about individual frames it's about how
- 11:37those frames interact with one another
- 11:39which brings us to the final C of
- 11:41YouTube visuals continuity when a cut
- 11:44feels smooth the story flows the viewer
- 11:48stays engaged they're not thinking about
- 11:50the editing at all it's as if it's
- 11:52invisible but when a cut feels off even
- 11:55first Split Second it breaks immersion
- 11:58it pulls of you are out of the
- 11:59experience and that's where you risk
- 12:02losing them and one of the biggest
- 12:04factors in determining whether or not a
- 12:05cut feels smooth is the type of cut
- 12:08itself straight cuts are the simplest
- 12:11and the most common they're clean and
- 12:13effective for moving between Clips but
- 12:15if your visuals are pacing change to
- 12:17dramatically they can feel abrupt j cuts
- 12:20and L Cuts blend audio and visuals to
- 12:22soften transitions A J cut brings in the
- 12:25audio of the next clip before the visual
- 12:29while an L cut lets the previous clip's
- 12:31audio continue after visuals
- 12:38change match Cuts can connect two
- 12:41otherwise unrelated Clips through Visual
- 12:44similarities creating continuity between
- 12:46scenes but Cuts aren't the only way to
- 12:49connect Clips transitions like dissolves
- 12:51and cross Fades ease the viewer from one
- 12:54shot to the next by blending the two
- 12:56together slides are useful when
- 12:57transitioning in and out of full Screen
- 12:59Graphics and Camera whips carry through
- 13:02motion keeping the energy up and if no
- 13:05matter what you try two clips just don't
- 13:07connect naturally you can always bridge
- 13:09the gap with full screen visuals like
- 13:11b-roll text or quick animation but as
- 13:14you make your cuts and transitions keep
- 13:16an eye out for changes in focal point
- 13:19because the focal point of One Clip is
- 13:20in the top left corner and the focal
- 13:22point of the next is in the bottom right
- 13:24your viewers eyes have to work to find
- 13:26it this creates visual friction making
- 13:29the edit feel chaotic and hard to follow
- 13:32this most commonly happens with cins and
- 13:34cutouts because when you zoom in the
- 13:37focal point often shifts which can be
- 13:39jarring reviewers especially if the cuts
- 13:42happen quickly luckily the solution is
- 13:44quite simple every time you cut in
- 13:46simply adjust the positioning to ensure
- 13:49the focal point stays consistent across
- 13:51shots and if you do ever need to shift
- 13:53the focal points between Clips just make
- 13:55sure to give your viewers a little more
- 13:57time to adjust either by using a slower
- 14:00transition or by holding on the shot
- 14:02just a smidge longer with your focal
- 14:05points aligned there's only one thing
- 14:07separating you from Smooth frictionless
- 14:09Cuts micro gaps these are the tiny
- 14:12spaces at the very starts and ends of
- 14:14your clips that create unnecessary braks
- 14:17between cuts and removing these musal
- 14:19gaps can be the difference between your
- 14:21Cuts feeling seamless and stiff just
- 14:24take it from Hayden hiler Smith the
- 14:26micro gaps of Silence sometimes the
- 14:28loudest
- 14:30Cuts now if you think the thought of
- 14:32combing through your entire video clip
- 14:34by clip to remove the micro Gap sounds
- 14:36exhausting you're absolutely right which
- 14:39is why many of the top YouTubers and
- 14:41YouTube editors use a tool specifically
- 14:43designed to cut out silences and clean
- 14:45up footage called gling I've been using
- 14:48gling for a few months now and it's my
- 14:50absolute pleasure to introduce them as
- 14:52the sponsor of this video here's how it
- 14:54works all you have to do is upload your
- 14:56raw footage to glan you can add as many
- 14:59files as you want and it even offers
- 15:01multicam support and then decide what
- 15:04you want gling to help you with you can
- 15:06cut out just silences but gling can also
- 15:09automatically remove bad takes add in
- 15:11Jump cut zooms and enhance the speech
- 15:13and audio of your footage these first
- 15:15two features are what initially sold me
- 15:17on gling they've saved me so much time
- 15:20in making my initial rough cut after you
- 15:22select what you want done gling will go
- 15:24through your footage generate a
- 15:26transcrip for you and automatically cut
- 15:28out and anything you don't want yes
- 15:31automatically and if you want to adjust
- 15:33any cut gling made you can do so
- 15:35directly in the text editor easily
- 15:37adding sentences back in or taking them
- 15:39out you can also easily adjust how much
- 15:42silence you want in between your Cuts
- 15:44tighter Cuts will make the video feel
- 15:45more fast-paced while leaving in more
- 15:47silences will make the video feel more
- 15:49relaxed you can adjust the length of any
- 15:51cut directly within the timeline but the
- 15:54best part of gaying is that once you're
- 15:55done you can export your Cuts directly
- 15:58into your editing software where you can
- 16:00make any further changes you may want
- 16:02gling has seriously saved me so much
- 16:05time and I was genuinely so happy when
- 16:07they reached out asking to sponsor this
- 16:09video they're constantly finding ways to
- 16:11improve their software and they have the
- 16:13best team and I highly recommend
- 16:15checking them out I was able to get you
- 16:17guys a free extra video edited by gling
- 16:19if you sign up through my link so I'll
- 16:21put that in the video description below
- 16:23thank you so so much to gling for
- 16:25sponsoring this video up to this point
- 16:28we focus on making making individual
- 16:29cuts and transitions feel seamless but a
- 16:32killer edit doesn't just connect
- 16:34individual Clips it creates continuity
- 16:36across the entire video which is where
- 16:39style comes in no not this type of Style
- 16:42style is the glue that holds your video
- 16:44together making it feel cohesive no
- 16:46matter how many different visuals or
- 16:48animations you use consistent color
- 16:50grading ensures that every shot feels
- 16:52like it's part of the same story and
- 16:54when text overlays and Motion Graphics
- 16:56share the same font color palette and an
- 16:59style they establish a visual Rhythm
- 17:01that not only ties sections together but
- 17:04also reinforces your brand these
- 17:07elements work together to unify your
- 17:09video resulting in a video that both
- 17:11flows well and feels unmistakably yours
- 17:15so you're building your story you're
- 17:16choosing your visuals you're aligning
- 17:19your focal points and you're using style
- 17:21to glue everything together the
- 17:23ingredients for your killer YouTube edit
- 17:25to blow up your channel are all there
- 17:28well all your ingredients except one
- 17:31because there's one concept that we
- 17:32haven't talked about yet a concept that
- 17:34determines which edits get merely
- 17:36watched in which gets shared commented
- 17:39on and remembered for months to come
- 17:41this concept emotion the best YouTube
- 17:44editors in the world know how to evoke
- 17:47feeling because they know how to
- 17:49leverage the three main drivers of
- 17:51emotion Framing and shot selection sound
- 17:54design and pacing the way a shot is
- 17:57framed can completely shift the way your
- 17:59audience feels often ways they don't
- 18:02even notice a tightly framed closeup
- 18:04makes a moment feel intimate personal or
- 18:07intense which is perfect for emotional
- 18:09reveals heightened drama or moments of
- 18:12vulnerability compare that to wide shots
- 18:14which create a sense of distance or
- 18:16isolation a wide shot of a lone figure
- 18:19standing on a massive landscape can make
- 18:21them feel small and vulnerable even
- 18:23subtle movements and framing can make a
- 18:25difference a slow zoom in builds tension
- 18:28and focus while a quick cut in adds
- 18:30urgency or humor and the type of shot
- 18:32you choose within that framing can also
- 18:35dramatically impact the tone and feeling
- 18:37of a scene handheld shots feel raw
- 18:40vulnerable and intimate they feel
- 18:43personal like the audience is right
- 18:44there with you and they're great for
- 18:46anything that's supposed to feel candid
- 18:48and real static shots on tripods and
- 18:51contrast feel polished and controlled
- 18:53they're perfect for tutorials explainers
- 18:55or scenes where Clarity and focus matter
- 18:58most and then there are drone shots
- 19:00which feel Grand and cinematic the
- 19:03sweeping wide angles at a sense of awe
- 19:05scale or drama but you can't talk about
- 19:07emotion without bringing up sound design
- 19:11because your choice of backing track and
- 19:13supporting sound effects is one of the
- 19:15fastest and most effective way of
- 19:17influencing how your viewers feel take a
- 19:20single clip of someone opening a door
- 19:22set it to the right song and it feels
- 19:24like something good is about to happen
- 19:31but swap that for something Eerie paired
- 19:34with an ominous Creek and suddenly it
- 19:36feels
- 19:42suspenseful the music you chew sets the
- 19:45tone break your video up into sections
- 19:47based on how you want the viewer to feel
- 19:49and select your tracks accordingly want
- 19:51to build tension use a trap with a slow
- 19:54gradual buildup need to add energy and
- 19:56excitement choose something upbeat with
- 19:58a fast Tempo how at a calm reflective
- 20:00moment opt for something soft slow and
- 20:03Atmospheric but it's not just about
- 20:05picking the right track it's about using
- 20:07it effectively sync your key moments to
- 20:10the beat dramatic reveal hitting on a
- 20:12Down Beat feels intentional and adds
- 20:14impact build momentum with crescendos
- 20:17using tracks that rise in energy and
- 20:19volume to build onto big moments or
- 20:21payoffs and use Fades to smooth out
- 20:24transitions and signal to a viewer that
- 20:26something new is coming but music only
- 20:29tells one half of the audio story sound
- 20:32effects when used thoughtfully can
- 20:34immerse your viewers into your video
- 20:36allowing them to experience your cuts
- 20:37and transitions through another sense
- 20:40pops and whooshes can make your visual
- 20:42edits feel snappier and Ambient sound
- 20:45like birds chirping or howling wind can
- 20:47ground your video in a specific place
- 20:50but subtlety here is key overloading
- 20:52your edits with sound effects can feel
- 20:54distracting or overproduced overwhelming
- 20:56your audience and pulling them out of
- 20:58the story and the entire subject of
- 21:00sound design is something that can go
- 21:02infinitely deep the concepts I mentioned
- 21:04here just barely scratch the surface but
- 21:07if you want a full deep di video like
- 21:09this exclusively about sound design let
- 21:11me know in the comments below the final
- 21:13driver of emotion is pacing fast-paced
- 21:16edits with Quick Cuts and minimal
- 21:18downtime build energy and excitement
- 21:20slower pacing with longer shots and
- 21:23deliberate holds creates space for
- 21:25reflection and emotional weight but the
- 21:27real magic pacing lies in contrast by
- 21:31alternating between fast and slow
- 21:33moments you create Peaks and valleys in
- 21:35your edit high energy sections grab
- 21:37attention while slower moments give your
- 21:39audience room to breathe without this
- 21:42contrast everything starts to feel
- 21:44monotone if everything is cut to a 10
- 21:47nothing is cut to a 10 when you combine
- 21:49Framing and shot selection sound design
- 21:51and pacing you're not just editing a
- 21:54video You're creating an experience
- 21:57because a video that looks nice but
- 21:59doesn't make your audience feel
- 22:00something is forgettable but a video
- 22:03that can evoke emotion that's the kind
- 22:05of content people remember share and
- 22:07come back to and by this point it's safe
- 22:09to say that a lot of work has gone into
- 22:12your video you've built your story
- 22:14chosen your visuals created flow and
- 22:17guided feeling so as you're making your
- 22:19final cuts and adjustments how do you
- 22:21know when you're done how do you know
- 22:23that you've made a killer edit that's
- 22:25good enough to blow up your channel to
- 22:27evaluate the quality of their edits the
- 22:29best YouTube editors in the world run
- 22:31their finished video through a series of
- 22:33three tests which brings us to the fifth
- 22:36and final step in making a killer
- 22:38YouTube edit to blow up your channel
- 22:40final checks the first check is the
- 22:42sound check because while we tend to
- 22:45edit our videos in a perfectly silent
- 22:46room with headphones on not everyone
- 22:49will watch your video under those
- 22:51conditions they might watch on their
- 22:52phone in the gym in a noisy cafe or with
- 22:55the AC blaring in the background so play
- 22:57your video in a less than ideal
- 22:59environment lose the headphones play
- 23:01something softy in the TV or open a
- 23:03window ask yourself can you still hear
- 23:06the words clearly does the music
- 23:08overpower your voice and do the sound
- 23:10effects pop too much or get lost
- 23:12entirely the goal is Clarity if the
- 23:15audio doesn't hold up tweak the levels
- 23:18clean up the sound and ensure that your
- 23:20audience can hear exactly what they need
- 23:22to no matter where or how they're
- 23:25watching Once your audio passes the
- 23:27sound check it's time for the flow check
- 23:29watch your video all the way through but
- 23:31this time as a viewer not as an editor
- 23:34where do you start to feel bored where
- 23:35do you feel overwhelmed or rushed if a
- 23:38section drags trim unnecessary Clips or
- 23:41adjust the pacing of your cuts to keep
- 23:42the momentum going and if a section
- 23:44feels too fast add Breathing Room by
- 23:47holding shots a bit longer check that
- 23:49your focal point continuity is sound or
- 23:51smooth out transitions and finally we
- 23:54have a style check take a step back and
- 23:56ask yourself does this video feel like
- 23:59me your edit should match the tone
- 24:01personality and brand you're going for
- 24:04do your music choices color grading and
- 24:06sound effects align with your Vibe does
- 24:08your typography feel cohesive and does
- 24:10the overall video reflect your voice and
- 24:13what your audience expects from you
- 24:15because at the end of the day a killer
- 24:17edit isn't about technical prowess it's
- 24:20about creating a video that resonates
- 24:21with your audience and communicates who
- 24:24you are as a Creator if your edit passes
- 24:27all three checks
- 24:29Sound flow and style congratulations
- 24:32you've just edited a killer YouTube
- 24:34video to blow up your channel I know
- 24:36we've covered a lot in this video and
- 24:39for good reason good editing is
- 24:41simultaneously incredibly important and
- 24:43Incredibly complex and although I threw
- 24:46a lot at you today if there's anything
- 24:47to remember in editing a killer of
- 24:49YouTube video to blow your channel it's

- 25:18in the world didn't start out by making
- 25:20perfect edits they started right where
- 25:22you are now making Cuts tweaking clips
- 25:25and learning from every single upload
- 25:28and besides there's no such thing as the

- 25:54of bringing their Visions to life and
- 25:56the more you edit the more you'll disc
- 25:58discover what feels true to you so keep
- 26:01editing keep experimenting you might not
- 26:04get it all right in the first go or the
- 26:06second or the third but each time you'll
- 26:08get a bit closer pick one concept to
- 26:11improve with each edit and just keep
- 26:13going because sooner or later Your Big
