How to Draw Lighting & Power Plans Efficiently — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:02We have arrived at lesson four of module
- 0:04one, which is all about streamlining
- 0:06your drawing process as a solo designer
- 0:08or even as a studio team. In our last
- 0:10lesson, we created a furniture and
- 0:12finished floor plan and reviewed some
- 0:13methods that help you create your
- 0:15drawing sets faster to save you valuable
- 0:17time. Today, we are taking things a step
- 0:19further and we're going to learn how to
- 0:20create lighting and power plans right
- 0:22within Rayon, which as we know by now is
- 0:24faster, clearer, and more streamlined
- 0:26than traditional CAD programs. We're
- 0:28going to cover everything from the
- 0:29essentials, so think layers, blocks,
- 0:31aligning fixtures, all the way to more
- 0:33advanced techniques like creating a
- 0:35legend, planning switch circuits, adding
- 0:37notes and dimensions, and even setting
- 0:39up a spec sheet. By the end of this,
- 0:40you'll have a professional quality
- 0:42electrical drawing that's build ready
- 0:44and clientfriendly. Don't forget, you
- 0:46can download the free drawing set
- 0:47template linked below for you to follow
- 0:48along. Plus, it's fully editable, so you
- 0:50can adapt it to your own projects and
- 0:52build a scalable workflow for your
- 0:53studio. And if you want more
- 0:55personalized guidance, you can actually
- 0:56book a one-on-one demo session using the
- 0:58link below. Finally, if you are enjoying
- 1:00this series, please like, subscribe, and
- 1:03drop a comment with any questions or
- 1:04takeaways. I would love to hear how you
- 1:06are applying these lessons to your own
- 1:07workflow. Let's dive in. Let's just zoom
- 1:09in here to our architectural lighting
- 1:11and electrical plan, which we're going
- 1:13to focus on today. If you are not
- 1:15totally familiar, um, an architectural
- 1:18lighting and electrical plan is a
- 1:20detailed drawing that shows the
- 1:21placement of lighting fixtures, power
- 1:23outlets, switches, wiring paths, all
- 1:26within a space. Its purpose is to guide
- 1:28the installation team, whether it's
- 1:30electricians or contractors, so they can
- 1:32implement the design intent accurately.
- 1:35Now, depending on your project's scope
- 1:36and complexity, lighting and electrical
- 1:38plans might be combined into a single
- 1:41drawing, or they might be separated. In
- 1:43this tutorial, we are just going to
- 1:44create one comprehensive plan covering
- 1:46both aspects. Let's walk through how to
- 1:49produce a clean, professional lighting
- 1:51and power floor plan. And along the way,
- 1:53I will share some best practices to
- 1:55ensure all stakeholders, designers,
- 1:57builders, electricians, everyone is
- 1:59aligned on fixture types and locations.
- 2:02We will go ahead and just start in a
- 2:04blank model canvas with our floor plan
- 2:07and we are going to create a lighting
- 2:10layer. So over here I have just gone
- 2:12from our presentation space into our
- 2:14floor plan. So we've got a model our
- 2:16model space here. Like I said, I've
- 2:18turned off my annotations, um the
- 2:20garden, the topo, um anything that's
- 2:23kind of like going to be a distraction.
- 2:24We do probably want to leave the
- 2:26furniture on because it will help
- 2:27determine where some of these lights
- 2:28will be placed. So like I said, let's go
- 2:30ahead and start by adding a new layer
- 2:32for lighting. So I'm just going to hit
- 2:34the plus button over here in layers and
- 2:37click layer. And I will just call this
- 2:39lighting. Now, you can also have nested
- 2:42layers within this layer um just by
- 2:44creating a layer and dragging it under
- 2:46the lighting layer. So, if you wanted to
- 2:48have it broken up into specific types of
- 2:51lighting um or for instance, we are
- 2:53going to add in a nested layer right
- 2:55now. Um just as kind of like a uh
- 2:58transparent overlay, uh just to kind of
- 3:01like ghost this floor plan out a little
- 3:03bit. Um so, let me just show you how to
- 3:05do that. We will just go ahead and hit
- 3:06the plus button and go to layer. And
- 3:09then I'm going to just call it um let's
- 3:10call it ghost background.
- 3:13And then I'm just going to drag that
- 3:15right into my lighting layer over here.
- 3:19And now you can see that it's kind of
- 3:20like a sub layer within that layer. Now
- 3:24on that ghost background layer, I'm just
- 3:26going to create a zone. So I'll just
- 3:28click zone down here and I'll show you
- 3:30what we're going to do. Basically what
- 3:31we're going to do is we're going to just
- 3:33create a shape here. And right now it's
- 3:36making it a
- 3:38wood shape. Um, but we'll change that
- 3:40here in a second. So, uh, we just want
- 3:43to basically make this a white box. So,
- 3:45instead of the texture here, we're just
- 3:47going to go to a solid fill and just
- 3:49make it white. Um, and now you can see
- 3:51that we can't really see anything
- 3:52beyond. However, we can easily uh make
- 3:55that a little bit more transparent. So,
- 3:57just adjust this right here. And you can
- 3:59see that that's just starting to kind of
- 4:00gray out the background. Now, because
- 4:03this ghost layer is on our lighting
- 4:05layer, when we turn off the lighting
- 4:07layer, it is going to take that ghost
- 4:09box off. So, make sure that that ghost
- 4:12background is underneath the lighting
- 4:13layer. We do not want a stroke on this.
- 4:16So, I'm just going to remove the stroke
- 4:17here. And now, this is basically just
- 4:20like a box sitting on top of everything.
- 4:22Um, and we can even make it a little bit
- 4:24more ghosty if we want. So, if I turn
- 4:27that ghost layer off, you can see that
- 4:28it gets crisp. And then if I turn it
- 4:30back on, you can see that we do have
- 4:31that transparency. Now, before we go any
- 4:34further, we should also go ahead and
- 4:36lock this layer. So, locking the layer
- 4:38allows me to still be able to affect uh
- 4:41other properties in uh this model space,
- 4:45but it does lock that ghosted box, if
- 4:49you will. So, let's go ahead and lock
- 4:50that. And that will just ensure that we
- 4:52don't accidentally edit or move it.
- 4:54Next, we want to start thinking about
- 4:56our symbols, our lighting symbols. So,
- 4:58Rayon makes this super easy because they
- 5:00do have a block library filled with over
- 5:0310,000 blocks. So, if we go over here to
- 5:06our block library and we just scroll
- 5:08down, we can go look for lighting
- 5:10fixtures and lighting symbols. I'm going
- 5:12to go to our lighting symbols because
- 5:14what we want to do first is grab a
- 5:16lighting legend. Uh they actually
- 5:18already have some pre-made for us for uh
- 5:22the UK, the EU, and the US. So, I'm just
- 5:25going to type in legend in our little
- 5:27search bar here, and we'll see them pop
- 5:29up. Now, I am working from the US, so we
- 5:32are just going to drag and drop the US
- 5:34legend in here. It's going to come in
- 5:36real tiny, but we can easily just scale
- 5:39that up. And we're just going to dock it
- 5:42over here. Just kind of get it to a good
- 5:44scale that we want. And what makes this
- 5:48so easy is that now, not only is my
- 5:51legend made, but I can also grab these
- 5:54symbols from here and just copy and
- 5:56paste them throughout the drawing um to
- 5:59start populating my lighting. In order
- 6:01to kind of make these lighting symbols
- 6:03stand out on our lighting plan, just to
- 6:04kind of help us visually see a
- 6:06difference between these and, you know,
- 6:08our furniture, I do want to make these
- 6:10red or some sort of like color that will
- 6:12stand out. Um, you can always go back
- 6:14and change that easily just by editing
- 6:16the style. But just for the visual
- 6:18purposes here, I'm going to go into this
- 6:19block that we've imported and just
- 6:21select. Um, and we'll just go ahead and
- 6:24edit this to be uh this like reddish
- 6:27color that we have um or the orang-ish
- 6:30color. And then you can kind of go
- 6:31through these symbols and just basically
- 6:34double click them,
- 6:37select them, and then you can just ey
- 6:39the style that you like. So, if I wanted
- 6:41that to be that orangey color, I can
- 6:43just eye drop um the style that I like.
- 6:45So, you can just rinse and repeat that.
- 6:47I'm going to do that real quick here,
- 6:48and then I'll meet you right back.
- 6:54So, I'm just wrapping up here. And
- 6:56again, it seems a little bit daunting at
- 6:58first um with some of this stuff, but
- 7:00once you set it up one time, then it's
- 7:02like good to go forever. And again, like
- 7:04you can just see, I'm just picking my
- 7:06styles just once I find a good one, then
- 7:08I just ey drop it. um and apply it to
- 7:10the rest of them. I am going to select
- 7:12all of my text as well and make it the
- 7:15same orangey color just to be
- 7:17consistent.
- 7:22So, in order to start placing our
- 7:25fixtures, we're going to go over here to
- 7:27this block and copy out uh whichever
- 7:30symbol we want. So, for instance, I'm
- 7:32going to start with some can lights. So,
- 7:33I'm just going to copy this and get out
- 7:35of my block. And then I will paste it.
- 7:38And you can see that it's plopped it out
- 7:39here. Uh we are going to move it over
- 7:42here to our plan and just place it
- 7:45wherever the first uh block would be.
- 7:47Now I can tell that this is dumping this
- 7:50on a different layer that I don't want.
- 7:52So let's make sure we move that up to
- 7:54our lighting layer. I can see my first
- 7:56light has been placed. And now that it's
- 7:58over here, I can just kind of copy and
- 7:59paste it anywhere else. So uh maybe we
- 8:03bring this, you know, over here to the
- 8:04hallway. We've got a couple here in the
- 8:07hallway. Okay. And I'll show you here in
- 8:08a second, too, how we can add some grid
- 8:10lines to uh kind of make sure that these
- 8:13are aligned to certain elements. So,
- 8:17just start kind of populating. Um once
- 8:20we get a few of these in here, we'll add
- 8:22some little grid lines to kind of help
- 8:24guide us. You can see too that these do
- 8:27kind of like snap to each other, which
- 8:28is really nice. So, I also actually am
- 8:31going to go ahead and lock everything
- 8:33else, too, because I do not want to be
- 8:35able to move anything here. Um, I just
- 8:38want to be able to move my lights. So,
- 8:40I'm just going to keep copying these.
- 8:42And, um, once you get a few of these
- 8:44placed where you like them, then let's
- 8:46put in some grid lines to kind of help,
- 8:49um, guide these decisions. So, for
- 8:51instance, if we want to make sure that
- 8:53this one is centered in the room, we can
- 8:55just go down here and grab ourselves a
- 8:58line and just kind of draw the line in
- 9:02the space. And we'll want to make sure
- 9:03that it's maybe like a dashed line. So,
- 9:06um, if we already have that style in
- 9:08here, it looks like we've got some
- 9:10dashed lines. Maybe we'll grab that one.
- 9:12So, again, just kind of throwing that in
- 9:15there. Using my eyropper to grab the
- 9:18other style. And then I need to move
- 9:20this light to be centered there. And now
- 9:23you can see that that is showing um that
- 9:26it is centered. You can also add any
- 9:28text that you need to to further explain
- 9:31that. And again, just make sure that
- 9:33you're drawing all of this in your
- 9:34lighting layer um to make sure later
- 9:37when we put these on our presentation
- 9:39sheet that we can um you know turn all
- 9:42of this lighting information on or off
- 9:44if needed. So, over into this hallway,
- 9:47maybe we'd want to draw um a grid line
- 9:51in the center of this space.
- 9:54And again, we'll make it that nice like
- 9:58transparent dash. And then same goes
- 10:02down here.
- 10:04We'll do a nice little center line. This
- 10:08can kind of like help guide your
- 10:10placement of um different fixtures
- 10:13because right now we're just kind of
- 10:14throwing them in here. This can help us
- 10:17get a little bit more specific. And it's
- 10:18not just good for you as the designer,
- 10:20it's good for the contractor as well. So
- 10:22now we can go down and grab our
- 10:24dimension tool and start adding in our
- 10:27dimensions. Now we can make sure that
- 10:28this is this chained is checked down
- 10:31here. It's on. Um and that way we can
- 10:34start doing dimensions like this.
- 10:38kind of in a row. And so now all of
- 10:40these dimensions might not equal each
- 10:42other, but if you want them to be
- 10:47equidistant,
- 10:48um, you can always override the text
- 10:52here. So you can just make this say
- 10:54equal
- 10:56and so on and so forth. Just make sure
- 10:58that you have some sort of dimension
- 10:59that the contractor can start from so
- 11:02they're not just making these equal
- 11:04equal equal in the middle of nowhere.
- 11:06you know, maybe you would want to have
- 11:08uh this dimension set. So maybe we
- 11:11definitely want that one to be 6 and 1/2
- 11:14ft, but then the rest of these are going
- 11:15to be equal set off from each other. And
- 11:17then of course you can always change um
- 11:20the style as well. So if you uh want to
- 11:23hold down your shift key or just do one
- 11:24and then do your eyropper tool, that's
- 11:26fine, too. Um and then you can select uh
- 11:30your style or change your style here.
- 11:33Maybe we want it to be that same kind of
- 11:35like orangey uh red color. Maybe our
- 11:39stroke is going to be the orangey red
- 11:41color. And um that's kind of how that
- 11:44starts shaping up. So these grid lines
- 11:46help us kind of align our lights with
- 11:49our architectural elements. Um and then
- 11:52coordinate that with our reflected
- 11:54ceiling plan. Now, when you're placing
- 11:55these, you also want to consider, you
- 11:57know, color temperature, whether they're
- 11:59warm, neutral, cool, and you want to
- 12:02avoid any like major shadow areas um or
- 12:05any like awkward fixture placements. So,
- 12:07with that in mind, let's go ahead and
- 12:09add in a few other types of lighting.
- 12:12So, I want to go back to this little
- 12:13bathroom space over here, and let's just
- 12:15add in some suspended uh fixtures over
- 12:18these um sinks right here. So, I'm just
- 12:22going to go ahead and go into our uh
- 12:24block over here again. Double click and
- 12:27copy myself a suspended light. So, we'll
- 12:30escape out of there. And I'm just going
- 12:33to paste it on my page. Move it on over.
- 12:37And we'll just add in two of these right
- 12:40above the sink. So, just wherever we
- 12:43want to place that. Again, I can see
- 12:44it's coming in on the wrong layer. So,
- 12:47let's just move that up here. And once
- 12:49we have that on the right layer, now you
- 12:51can see that it is a little bit um more
- 12:53crisp. So we can just kind of, you know,
- 12:56place that right over here. Maybe even a
- 12:59little bit further back. And then just
- 13:01go ahead and copy and paste and put one
- 13:03right up there. And now we've got um two
- 13:07suspended lights in there. Moving on to
- 13:10the bedroom. Maybe we want some
- 13:12wall-mounted fixtures on either side of
- 13:15the bed. So, let's go over here and see
- 13:18if we can find a good wall-mounted
- 13:20fixture. Let's use this guy right here.
- 13:23I'm just going to click in there. Copy
- 13:25that and paste it out. Again, I want to
- 13:28make sure it's on my lighting layer. So,
- 13:30dragging that up. And we will just move
- 13:33this over here.
- 13:36And I'm just going to rotate it. And
- 13:39we've got it looks like we've got like a
- 13:41little lamp there, but um we'll just
- 13:43place this here anyway. And I'm just
- 13:46going to copy and paste again on the
- 13:47other side of the bed. And there we've
- 13:50got um two of our light fixtures in
- 13:53there. So again, this is just like a
- 13:55rinse and a repeat uh process for your
- 13:58entire plan. Next, we want to consider
- 14:00the switches and circuits and the whole
- 14:04like functional planning of this
- 14:06electrical plan. So, um, switches and
- 14:08sockets are usually placed logically
- 14:11based on like how a user, um, uses the
- 14:14space, how the room functions, um, entry
- 14:17exit points, and we are able to use some
- 14:20shortcuts to efficiently just rotate and
- 14:22duplicate those symbols here in Rayon,
- 14:24kind of like we've done with our
- 14:26lighting symbols already. So, if I zoom
- 14:28in over here and go down and look at our
- 14:31switch symbols, they might look a little
- 14:33bit different depending on where you
- 14:35are. Um, but I'm just to keep things
- 14:38simple, I'm just going to grab um this
- 14:41uh little switch symbol. So, let's paste
- 14:43that. And we'll bring it over to our
- 14:46plan. Now, I am going to place our first
- 14:50one. Let's start in the bedroom here.
- 14:52And we'll just kind of keep it in this
- 14:53small space. And I am going to uh again
- 14:57make sure that this is on the right
- 14:59layer. We will drag that up. And I'm
- 15:02going to rotate this. And I'm just going
- 15:05to place it right when you walk in the
- 15:07door basically. So that's pretty typical
- 15:09is right when you walk in the door. Um
- 15:11the switch for the lights would be right
- 15:12there. Um there might be some other
- 15:14logical places to put them. Um but
- 15:17that's what we're going to go with. So
- 15:18I'm going to just then copy and paste
- 15:21this and uh move this one over to my
- 15:25bathroom. And we'll just use our rotate
- 15:28tool. Um place it on whichever wall
- 15:31seems like most logical. And those are
- 15:34just going to be the switches that
- 15:35control the space. And again, just rinse
- 15:38and repeat that with any other space
- 15:40that you have. So, you know, for this
- 15:42hallway, I would maybe have a switch on,
- 15:45you know, this wall. And then I would
- 15:47also probably have a switch on the
- 15:49opposite wall. So, you know, copy and
- 15:52paste that over here. So, just kind of
- 15:54continue doing that in your space with
- 15:57uh what makes sense. There are also
- 15:59other symbols over in our um block that
- 16:02would indicate maybe it is a two-way,
- 16:05three-way, four-way um different types
- 16:07of switches. So, just make sure to keep
- 16:09that in mind when you are placing them.
- 16:11And then once you get all of your
- 16:13switches placed, that's when we can draw
- 16:15our fun little squiggly lines to
- 16:17indicate which switch controls which
- 16:19light fixture. So again, let's make sure
- 16:22that we are on our lighting layer and we
- 16:24can go down here and just grab a curved
- 16:28line and just kind of like start with
- 16:30our switch. And then you're just going
- 16:33to curve it to the uh different fixtures
- 16:38that it is going to affect. And then of
- 16:41course you can always change your style.
- 16:43You can also always double click in here
- 16:45and kind of like move your um different
- 16:48vertices, make them more curvy, less
- 16:51curvy, however you'd like. Let's see
- 16:53here. Maybe we want the style of this to
- 16:57be orangey line. So, or maybe we want
- 17:01like a dashed orangey line. So, let's go
- 17:03see if we have a dash orangey line in
- 17:04here. Okay, all the way here at the end
- 17:06is our dashed orange line. And again, if
- 17:08you need to create one, all you would do
- 17:10is um just detach this style and we'll
- 17:13just create a new one. Um I am going to
- 17:16make this a dash line. So, we'll go to
- 17:18add dash. And maybe we want the dash to
- 17:21be bigger. And that looks good. And if
- 17:24you like it, then you save it. So, I'm
- 17:26just going to say dashed
- 17:29orange. And that has been saved. So, um,
- 17:34now we're going to continue to do that
- 17:35for these other, um, fixtures. So, I'm
- 17:38going to grab that curved line again,
- 17:41and we'll start with this fixture and
- 17:44just kind of rope it between these
- 17:48like that. When you're done with one,
- 17:51you just kind of hit escape. I'm going
- 17:52to do the pick style and I'll grab that
- 17:54orange dash line. And then we're also
- 17:57going to have this switch control this
- 17:58light fixture in here. So again, we'll
- 18:01just grab that curve, start here,
- 18:04and just kind of like make our little
- 18:06curve and hit escape. I drop the line,
- 18:12and there you have it. So again, you
- 18:15would just continue doing this
- 18:16throughout your um entire project. So if
- 18:20you like to add some more guidelines or
- 18:22information on your sheet, you can
- 18:24always add a little box um with some
- 18:27notes. This is just helpful to the
- 18:29contractor to understand um anything
- 18:32specific that maybe isn't super clear on
- 18:34the plan. So, in order to do that, you
- 18:36would do that similar to how you would
- 18:38draw a legend. And that would be just by
- 18:41um selecting your shape and
- 18:44um you know, going up here and doing the
- 18:46same kind of thing as we did with our
- 18:48legend, just adding in a little area um
- 18:51for your general note. And then you
- 18:53would just go ahead and add your text
- 18:55box that would say general notes. And of
- 18:58course we already have our style that we
- 19:00have um started. So we'll just eyero
- 19:03that uh which takes away that work. And
- 19:06then you just add in more text notes
- 19:09here. So you know you would just say
- 19:12like
- 19:14one note one two note two um that type
- 19:19of thing. And again, we'll just eye
- 19:22drop, you know, another style that we
- 19:23already have. This can just help provide
- 19:26some more context without making the
- 19:28drawing even more cluttered. As far as
- 19:31any other information that you can add,
- 19:33again, we did talk about dimensions. Um,
- 19:36you can also add these dimensions on
- 19:37their own nested layer. So, that could
- 19:39be a layer that you could turn on and
- 19:41off within the lighting layer. If there
- 19:43are any like height dimensions that you
- 19:45need to note, you could just do that
- 19:46with um either an annotation right here
- 19:49on the plan or in your general notes. Um
- 19:52so down here, Rayon makes it really
- 19:54easy. They've got um little like leader
- 19:56lines that you can add. So um for
- 19:59instance, if we have, let's see here,
- 20:01these wall-mounted fixtures. I can just
- 20:03add this little leader line that says
- 20:05like mount fixtures
- 20:08at 7T above finish floor. um and just
- 20:12hit check there. And then if you have a
- 20:15style or something selected that uh
- 20:17looks better than this, then you could
- 20:18just add that in there. You can easily
- 20:20adjust the placement or the size of it.
- 20:22Things do kind of start um getting a
- 20:24little bit messier when you start adding
- 20:26in annotations. So just kind of be
- 20:28mindful of that as you're doing that. If
- 20:30we want to keep that same kind of color,
- 20:31we can select that there. Maybe our
- 20:33stroke we want to be the same color as
- 20:36well. And um if you you know like that
- 20:38style then you would just save that
- 20:40style and you would say like you know
- 20:42orange annotation or something like that
- 20:44annotation and then um that's saved
- 20:47within your styles. This kind of helps
- 20:49keep everything super cohesive. Now to
- 20:51help clients visualize the products that
- 20:54we've selected once we have gotten all
- 20:56of our light fixtures in there. We can
- 20:57create a little mood board featuring the
- 21:00lighting fixture references. So we do
- 21:03this by just using tools that we've
- 21:05already talked about so far. So like uh
- 21:07you know our rectangle shape tools um
- 21:10text and then I will also show you how
- 21:12to import images here. Now this is all
- 21:16just done within a separate model space.
- 21:18So we've got you know our floor plan
- 21:20that we were just drawing our lighting
- 21:22information on. Um our specs and our
- 21:24mood boards are just on a separate model
- 21:26canvas. But we can then dump this view
- 21:30with the floor plan view on the same
- 21:32presentation canvas. So I'll show you
- 21:34how to do that here in a minute. So in
- 21:36order to import our uh furniture images,
- 21:40all you have to do is just go find your
- 21:41image um probably somewhere on the
- 21:43internet. Right? So if I like this light
- 21:46fixture or maybe I've, you know,
- 21:47selected this light fixture for my
- 21:49project, all I have to do is just go
- 21:51ahead and copy that image and go back to
- 21:54my rayon project. And then I'm just
- 21:57going to literally paste it and it's
- 21:59going to just come right in. And you can
- 22:01just resize it and go ahead and place it
- 22:03wherever you want to. I've got this nice
- 22:05little spot here um ready for it to be
- 22:08placed. Uh another cool thing that you
- 22:10can do in Rayon is you can actually
- 22:11remove the background. So if you want to
- 22:13be able to kind of like stack items on
- 22:15top of each other, like for a mood board
- 22:17or something, um we can go to edit image
- 22:20right here and just say remove
- 22:21background. And it's going to use AI to
- 22:24remove the background. It will also
- 22:25upscale it for you if you'd like if it
- 22:27comes in at a really low resolution. Um,
- 22:30you can also make some adjustments over
- 22:32here. But once you get it the way you
- 22:33like it, you just hit done. And now you
- 22:36can see it's can stack neatly on top of
- 22:38other objects. For right now, I'm just
- 22:40going to place it right here in our
- 22:41little lighting fixture setup over here.
- 22:44You can also use numbers to tag them to
- 22:48their mate in the floor plan. So, um you
- 22:52know, if you have lighting type one, uh
- 22:54and you want to call it out as number
- 22:56one here on your floor plan, you can
- 22:58also add that tag um to your lighting
- 23:00symbol and just say like, you know, this
- 23:02is lighting type one, this is lighting
- 23:04type two. And then that kind of like
- 23:06helps that communication between floor
- 23:08plan, mood board, legend, and helps kind
- 23:11of explain everything. You can also see
- 23:14over here that we can refine the legend
- 23:16to show the fixture counts, um, optional
- 23:20specs such as pricing, delivery times,
- 23:23and Rayon actually has a tables feature
- 23:25that can automate and organize this
- 23:26information super efficiently. We're not
- 23:29going to dive into that on this class,
- 23:30but we do dive deeper into that in
- 23:32another class that's dedicated entirely
- 23:35to FFN specs. And finally, I know that
- 23:38was a lot of information, but now we get
- 23:40to take all of that and put it onto one
- 23:42presentation page. So, let me go ahead
- 23:44and show you how to do that from
- 23:46scratch. So, we will add a page over
- 23:50here in our presentation space. So, I'm
- 23:52just going to um click new page and then
- 23:57it's going to throw a page over here. Um
- 23:59we are using an A3 page. So, I'm going
- 24:02to make sure that this page is the right
- 24:05size. So over here we'll just put a
- 24:08three.
- 24:09And once we have the right page size,
- 24:12now we can add our view. So in order to
- 24:15um add in our lighting plan first, let's
- 24:18go ahead and go to the plus sign over
- 24:20here and we'll go to view from floor
- 24:23plan because we want to add in our floor
- 24:24plan view. Now, if it comes in at the
- 24:26right scale, great. If not, you can
- 24:28always change that over here. Um right
- 24:31under scale. Mine did come in at the
- 24:32right scale, so we'll just leave it as
- 24:34is. Um, I'm also going to hold down my
- 24:36command key and just kind of scrunch
- 24:38this in a little bit just to keep it
- 24:40kind of uh contained here. And then we
- 24:43will tell this what layers we want on
- 24:45and off. So, we are just going to make
- 24:47sure that we start turning off things
- 24:49that we do not need. So, for instance,
- 24:52like the topography,
- 24:54uh, the garden. I think we probably want
- 24:57to leave furniture on. There's probably
- 24:58some annotations that we don't
- 25:01necessarily need. And I think that's
- 25:03looking pretty nice. nice and clean. So,
- 25:05you can obviously see all of our light
- 25:08fixtures. If we had any sort of notes or
- 25:10anything, um you'd be able to see those
- 25:12because those would be on our light
- 25:14layer. Now, we can also add in that
- 25:17little spec sheet um right here to fill
- 25:19the page. So, to do that, we'll just hit
- 25:21the new um view and then FF and E specs
- 25:26and mood boards. And you can see that
- 25:28that's placed um a view on here.
- 25:30Obviously, this is not the scale that we
- 25:33want. But if we double click in here and
- 25:35actually just like zoom in, we can get
- 25:39it looking the way we want it. So maybe
- 25:42we want it like about that scale. And
- 25:45then I'll hit done. And we'll do that
- 25:46same hold down the command um just to
- 25:50kind of scrunch this in because we don't
- 25:51need to see anything else in this view.
- 25:53We just want to see this um little spec
- 25:57sheet that we set up. So now we've got
- 26:00that here. And you know, in theory, your
- 26:05numbers of your lights would align with
- 26:08any numbers that you have called out on
- 26:10the floor plan. And then this sheet um
- 26:13tells the entire story for the
- 26:15contractor, the electrician, whoever is
- 26:17doing the work. Of course, you probably
- 26:18have your title block in here, too. So
- 26:20eventually, what your sheet should end
- 26:22up looking like is this um sheet that we
- 26:25have here and our drawing template set
- 26:26that we're using. Now finally we prepare
- 26:29the drawing set for export by setting
- 26:31our scale and paper size in the page
- 26:33panel and organizing multiple layouts as
- 26:36needed. So our export options are PDF,
- 26:39PNG, DWG and DXF. For collaboration, we
- 26:43generally um generate public sharing
- 26:46links or invite team members as viewers
- 26:48or editors making real-time feedback and
- 26:51coordination across disciplines more
- 26:53seamless. So, in order to share this
- 26:55file, all we need to do is either click
- 26:58our share button over here where you can
- 27:00just share this with other team members
- 27:01and then make them either an editor or a
- 27:04viewer. Or if you want to have a hard
- 27:06copy, you can go over into your pages um
- 27:09over here. And we are just going to hit
- 27:11export. And you can export all of your
- 27:14pages into whichever format you'd like.
- 27:16I typically do PDF. You can adjust the
- 27:18file size. And then you'll just hit
- 27:20export. and then it will export to
- 27:22wherever you want to save it. That's a
- 27:24wrap for class 4 of the interior design
- 27:26playbook. By now, you have learned how
- 27:27to create a complete lighting and power
- 27:29plan right inside Rayon. From placing
- 27:31the fixtures and switches to building a
- 27:33legend, adding dimensions, and even
- 27:35setting up our spec sheet, these
- 27:36drawings not only guide contractors on
- 27:39site, but also give your clients
- 27:40confidence that every detail has been
- 27:42thought through. Don't forget, you can
- 27:43download that free editable template
- 27:45linked below to save you time and keep
- 27:47your workflow consistent. And if you'd
- 27:48like extra support, you can book that
- 27:50one-on-one demo for personalized
- 27:51guidance. If you're enjoying this
- 27:52series, please like, subscribe, and
