  1. 0:00Spirit of Jezebel, who is she?
  2. 0:02Is she real?
  3. 0:03You know, there's a lot of mentions in the Bible.
  4. 0:05In fact, somebody counted 22 times Jezebel is mentioned
  5. 0:09and her husband Ahab mentioned 90 times.
  6. 0:12But we really see her in Old Testament, 1 Kings chapter 18
  7. 0:17and in the New Testament, Revelation 2:20.
  8. 0:21But Jezebel, even though there is no word
  9. 0:23specifically in the Bible, spirit of Jezebel
  10. 0:26as it says, you know, spirit of heaviness, spirit of fear,
  11. 0:29it doesn't use the word spirit of Jezebel yet
  12. 0:31because we see her reappearing again in Book of Revelation.
  13. 0:35We can assume that a spirit of Jezebel is really
  14. 0:38a demonic spirit that inhabits a person that causes them
  15. 0:41to be driven by sexual appetites and by control
  16. 0:45and false teaching.
  17. 0:46The best way to define this Jezebel spirit,
  18. 0:49it's pretty much characterized as anyone
  19. 0:52who lives like Jezebel did: engaging in immorality,
  20. 0:55idolatry, false teaching, and unrepentant sin.
  21. 0:59You know, she was guided by no principle
  22. 1:01restrained by no fear of God or fear of men,
  23. 1:04passionate in her pursuit and attachment of heathen worship.
  24. 1:09She spared no pain to maintain idolatry around her
  25. 1:13in all of its splendour.
  26. 1:14In fact, let's read what the New Testament says
  27. 1:17about this Queen Jezebel,
  28. 1:19who I believe is still alive and well,
  29. 1:22and it operates in a lot of people and even in some churches.
  30. 1:26In Revelation 2:20 it says:
  31. 2:02Ouch! That's some pretty strong words.
  32. 2:05I want you to notice who had this woman operating - the church.
  33. 2:10The church had a Jezebel operating in pretty high levels.
  34. 2:14So let's look at eight things I want to mention about
  35. 2:17this spirit of Jezebel that I believe still operates
  36. 2:20and we as pastors, ministers, and believers have to be aware.
  37. 2:24Number one, it can operate in men and women.
  38. 2:26I remember doing deliverance on one guy,
  39. 2:28it's on my YouTube, you can see it--in another city
  40. 2:31and was a spirit of Jezebel that was bringing lust in his life
  41. 2:34and he was a guy.
  42. 2:35After he was delivered, he was freed from pornography.
  43. 2:38Number two, this is a spirit that causes control, manipulation
  44. 2:41and domination, which is kind of a form of witchcraft.
  45. 2:44Jezebel was a control freak.
  46. 2:46We must understand that control of people
  47. 2:48is a sign of witchcraft.
  48. 2:50Control of people, dominating, intimidating, manipulating
  49. 2:54is a sign of a Jezebel characteristic.
  50. 2:57You might not be comfortable calling it Jezebel spirit
  51. 2:59because Bible doesn't say Jezebel spirit, but it's her lane.
  52. 3:02Okay? It's her world.
  53. 3:04The fruit of the Spirit is self control.
  54. 3:06The fruit of Jezebel is people control.
  55. 3:08It's controling everything else except self.
  56. 3:11A third sign of Jezebel, she's really good at intimidation.
  57. 3:15She causes fear, flight, and discouragement.
  58. 3:17She didn't kill Elijah, she threatened him.
  59. 3:20She sent a messenger to make him run, to make him flee
  60. 3:24to make him be discouraged.
  61. 3:25Elijah was one of the greatest prophets of Old Testament.
  62. 3:28The guy was crazy, okay, he was fearless.
  63. 3:30He was reckless. Like, he was scary.
  64. 3:33I would be scared of Elijah if I would be Jezebel, okay?
  65. 3:36But Jezebel didn't want to kill him
  66. 3:38otherwise she wouldn't send a messenger
  67. 3:40she would have sent an assassin.
  68. 3:42She wanted to scare him. She wanted to make him run.
  69. 3:44She wanted to make him overthink.
  70. 3:45She wanted to make him complain
  71. 3:47and she accomplished that really well
  72. 3:49because Elijah ran.
  73. 3:51He started to complain he was the only one,
  74. 3:53there was nobody else.
  75. 3:54"God take my life." He despaired of life.
  76. 3:57Even though he just had a great victory on Mount Carmel,
  77. 4:00he slaughtered the prophets of Jezebel.
  78. 4:02And a lot of times after great victories,
  79. 4:04this spirit, this demonic work to bring deep, deep despair
  80. 4:10deep discouragement, like, almost like not normal,
  81. 4:14like spiritual, you just feel like, " I don't want to live,
  82. 4:16I want to quit. I want to give up. I'm burned out."
  83. 4:20And that's not to say that we emotionally, physically
  84. 4:24get tired and need to be refreshed, renewed
  85. 4:27and recalibrated.
  86. 4:28But in Elijah's case, Jezebel pushed him over the edge.
  87. 4:31Maybe you are experiencing that.
  88. 4:32What if I were to tell you that behind some of the burnouts
  89. 4:36discouragements, disappointments is an evil spirit?
  90. 4:39It's an evil plot and a plan to wear you out, take you out.
  91. 4:43The enemy can't attack you head-on,
  92. 4:45he wants to wear you out.
  93. 4:46Find comfort in a still small voice of God.
  94. 4:49Get back in the game and keep on fighting.
  95. 4:51Sign number four of a Jezebel spirit
  96. 4:54is seduction and sexual immorality.
  97. 4:57Jesus made it very clear. He pretty much pulled the curtains
  98. 4:59and said this Jezebel she seduces, listen to this
  99. 5:03My servants with sexual immorality
  100. 5:06or to commit sexual immorality.
  101. 5:08Now we see-- How many servants of God and pastors get seduced
  102. 5:13and fell into sexual immorality?
  103. 5:15I am not in any way going to point fingers or throw stones,
  104. 5:19because I myself am in the same danger
  105. 5:22to come under discouragement.
  106. 5:23And I feel like when the enemy can't take you out
  107. 5:26by wearing you out, then the enemy changes the tactic
  108. 5:29through seduction.
  109. 5:30When Jehu came to destroy Jezebel,
  110. 5:33she came out of the window and she put makeup on. Okay?
  111. 5:37This wicked queen, she wanted to seduce Jehu.
  112. 5:40Revelation chapter 2 says clearly: "Seduces My servants."
  113. 5:45That means she is after the preachers.
  114. 5:47She is after the ministers, the evangelists.
  115. 5:50Why is she after them?
  116. 5:51If she can't wear them out, she is going to seduce them. Why?
  117. 5:55Because when a person in the place of authority
  118. 5:57in the place of influence falls,
  119. 6:00their fall doesn't just attack their spouse
  120. 6:02influence and affect their spouse,
  121. 6:05it affects those that believed in them, followed them,
  122. 6:09knew them.
  123. 6:09When great preachers like Ravi Zacharias
  124. 6:12when great preachers like-- recently not long ago
  125. 6:16Carl Lentz, and so many others throughout the history
  126. 6:19that fell into sexual immorality
  127. 6:21the kind of damage it did to other believers,
  128. 6:24the damage it did to the Name of Jesus
  129. 6:26was way bigger than if somebody,
  130. 6:28an ordinary Christian committed the same sin.
  131. 6:30I am not in any way saying that these sins
  132. 6:33didn't damage those families,
  133. 6:35didn't cause huge pain to those families.
  134. 6:37And I'm not in any way saying that these men
  135. 6:39are not held accountable and they shouldn't repent
  136. 6:42We must understand please pray for your pastors.
  137. 6:45Pray for the preachers. Pray for God's servants. Okay?
  138. 6:49Because the higher God takes them, the higher God takes them
  139. 6:52the more the enemy wants to attack them and those heights
  140. 6:56so that when they fall, great is their fall
  141. 6:58and many can be affected by their fall.
  142. 7:01You know, when David committed sexual immorality with Bathsheba
  143. 7:04God says you gave My enemies a reason to reproach
  144. 7:08to blaspheme My Name.
  145. 7:09And David's consequences were very severe.
  146. 7:12And this I believe Jezebel seeks to seduce God's servants
  147. 7:16through pornography, through affairs,
  148. 7:18and through just flirtations,
  149. 7:20all kinds of things to distract them.
  150. 7:22If it can't distract them with discouragement,
  151. 7:24it will seek distract them with seduction.
  152. 7:26This Jezebel, Bible teaches that she prophesies
  153. 7:30and teaches in the church.
  154. 7:31Now that's crazy. How did she get to the church?
  155. 7:34In the Old Testament, Jezebel was fully in control
  156. 7:37of religion.
  157. 7:38Not only was she a queen, a political figure
  158. 7:41she was a religous leader.
  159. 7:44She had prophets on her payroll,
  160. 7:45and she really controlled the religious climate in her time.
  161. 7:49In the Book of Revelation we see a similar thing
  162. 7:52where this woman, she declares herself a prophetess
  163. 7:55and she teaches.
  164. 7:56Meaning she has a place of influence, and she has a place
  165. 7:59where she can influence the culture of the church
  166. 8:02by her mouth.
  167. 8:03This doesn't mean that she was a woman.
  168. 8:06We don't know. Maybe a man, maybe a woman and stuff
  169. 8:08because a lot of women didn't preach at those times
  170. 8:10in those churches.
  171. 8:11But maybe she was a woman, maybe she was a man.
  172. 8:13It's someone who preaches a false doctrine.
  173. 8:17Someone who preaches other truths than the gospel.
  174. 8:20And we have to be very careful.
  175. 8:22No matter how good they sound,
  176. 8:23no matter how good they look,
  177. 8:25no matter how much influence they have,
  178. 8:27Jezebel is not just a seductive, controlling
  179. 8:30you know, infuses you with fear and manipulation
  180. 8:34it's also a teacher.
  181. 8:35And those of us who teach God's Word,
  182. 8:37we have to be very careful that we don't come under influence
  183. 8:40by teaching something that is not true to the Scriptures.
  184. 8:43Number six is Jezebel quickly rises
  185. 8:46to the place of influence and leadership.
  186. 8:48She loves to be in the place of leadership.
  187. 8:52She was not just a servant, she was a queen.
  188. 8:54And in this place, she was a prophetess
  189. 8:56in Revelation chapter 2.
  190. 8:57She was in the place where she was influencing.
  191. 8:59She loves the spotlight.
  192. 9:01I'm always cautious when people are addicted to spotlight
  193. 9:06when young men and young women cannot live
  194. 9:09without a microphone, or they need a podium to feel validated.
  195. 9:12They need a place of visibility to feel valued.
  196. 9:15It's very dangerous.
  197. 9:16And unknowingly, you can yield and give yourself to this spirit
  198. 9:21through this insecurity.
  199. 9:22You can allow this demonic bully to take over you
  200. 9:25and begin to infiltrate the church and the Kingdom of God
  201. 9:29through your vulnerability, through your--
  202. 9:32not vulnerability through your carelessness
  203. 9:34through your desiring for fame, desiring to be known
  204. 9:39desiring position of leadership not so you can serve,
  205. 9:42but so you can shine.
  206. 9:44It's very dangerous because then you can be in that place
  207. 9:47and actually bring damage because something else
  208. 9:49is controlling you. And you become like a puppet for an evil plot
  209. 9:53an evil ploy, an evil spirit.
  210. 9:54Number seven, Jezebel thrives where there is weak leadership.
  211. 9:59For every Jezebel there is an Ahab.
  212. 10:01In fact, Jezebel couldn't do anything without Ahab.
  213. 10:04Ahab is the enabler.
  214. 10:05Ahab couldn't stand up to her.
  215. 10:07Ahab was passive and therefore, God had to use Elijah
  216. 10:11to confont Jezebel.
  217. 10:12He had to use Jehu to wipe her out, to take her out
  218. 10:15because Ahab couldn't do it.
  219. 10:17Jezebel thrives in places where leadership
  220. 10:21is afraid of confrontation.
  221. 10:22Where leadership is so passive,
  222. 10:25so fearful of any kind of conflict
  223. 10:28that it will cause by confronting Jezebel.
  224. 10:31They're just keeping peace at any cost.
  225. 10:33Even if it's destroying the ministry,
  226. 10:35even if it's causing things to be taught wrong,
  227. 10:37"I just don't want to upset people."
  228. 10:39And this kind of Ahab attitude is what Jezebel loves.
  229. 10:44It thrives in those kinds of environments.
  230. 10:47Now, I'm not saying we have to love confrontation,
  231. 10:49none of us do.
  232. 10:50But part of the challenge of being a Christian leader,
  233. 10:53part of the challenge of being a pastor
  234. 10:55is you have to spot a Jezebel and you have got to stop her.
  235. 10:58And to do that, you have to be confrontive.
  236. 11:00To do that, you have to have a spirit of Elijah
  237. 11:02you have to have a characteristic of Elijah
  238. 11:04where you can face head-on and stop it
  239. 11:07and you are not afraid of the consequences.
  240. 11:08God even said, He says, I'm going to throw her in the sick bed.
  241. 11:11God was confronting her.
  242. 11:12So God wants us to rise up against that.
  243. 11:14And I'm not talking about now going and attacking
  244. 11:16every person that you don't like in the church.
  245. 11:18First of all, deal with Jezebel within your life.
  246. 11:20Certain habits, attitudes, control tendencies, you know,
  247. 11:25discouragements, sexual sins, this desire for fame
  248. 11:29desire to be known not so you can make Jesus known
  249. 11:32but so you can feel more secure, more confident about yourself.
  250. 11:36Deal with those things in your heart first.
  251. 11:38We have to deal with-- I have to deal with my own heart
  252. 11:40before I deal that with others.
  253. 11:42And when I spot things that are out of line,
  254. 11:45not to be afraid of men, but to confront things
  255. 11:47and to put them in the right place.
  256. 11:48Lastly is Jezebel is usually not repentant.
  257. 11:53And we see in Kings that Jezebel never repented
  258. 11:56she had to be punished.
  259. 11:57In the Book of Revelation, God gives her a chance to repent
  260. 12:00but God is already saying, I'm throwing her in the sick bed,
  261. 12:03meaning I'm going to punish her.
  262. 12:04I'm going to discipline her and everyone else
  263. 12:06who was involved in her deception.
  264. 12:08And He says, if she doesn't repent,
  265. 12:10I'm going to start killing things.
  266. 12:12I don't know if that's literally killing children.
  267. 12:14I don't know about that.
  268. 12:15Or this is speaking maybe of some kind of other thing
  269. 12:18I don't know but I know there are consequences
  270. 12:20to allowing Jezebel to operate in your life.
  271. 12:23And so, confront that witch head-on.
  272. 12:25Control that wicked queen head-on.
  273. 12:28And don't give her a place through discouragement,
  274. 12:30through seduction, through control, believing false doctrine
  275. 12:34seeking you know, place of leadership to shine
  276. 12:37when you don't have the gift and calling to be at that place
  277. 12:40because you're just insecure you know, being a bully.
  278. 12:42Don't give that Jezebel a place in your life.
  279. 12:46Overcome her by repentance,
  280. 12:48by trusting in Jesus, preaching the truth
  281. 12:51seeking to have self control instead of people control
  282. 12:54overcoming discouragement. It's okay to be discouraged
  283. 12:57it's not okay to stay like that.
  284. 12:59To fighting and fleeing sexual immorality
  285. 13:01instead of fleeing your calling.
  286. 13:03And seeking to serve instead of to shine
  287. 13:06meaning being in the spotlight.
  288. 13:07That's what I mean because we are all called to shine as lights
  289. 13:10and be the salt.
  290. 13:10But I'm talking about, you know, desiring the spotlight
  291. 13:13for the sake of being known and famous.
  292. 13:15Thank you for watching this video.
