How to Cut Your Claude Code Tokens in Half — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Claude code writes way too much code,
- 0:02and you're paying for every line.
- 0:04There's a tiny skill called ponytail
- 0:06that fixes this with one config, and the
- 0:08savings are kind of absurd. The way it
- 0:10works, before Claude touches the
- 0:12keyboard, ponytail makes it walk through
- 0:14a checklist. Is there a standard library
- 0:16function for this? A built-in tool?
- 0:18Could it be one line of code? Only if
- 0:20every answer is no, does Claude actually
- 0:22write anything. I ran the same prompt
- 0:24with it and without it. Without the
- 0:25skill, 445 lines of code. With the
- 0:28skill, 246. Almost cut in half from one
- 0:32config change. That's a chunk of tokens
- 0:34I just didn't have to pay for, which on
- 0:36Opus adds up quick. [music] It took me
- 0:38about a minute to set up. So, if you
- 0:39want to run the same test on your own
- 0:41setup, comment ponytail and I'll DM you
- 0:43the GitHub link.
