How to Customise MOSAIC by Importing Data Files — Transcript

- 0:02in this video I'm going to show you how
- 0:04we can import a spatial data set into
- 0:06Mosaic this feature is great for those
- 0:09of you who already have a large data set
- 0:10of sites Properties or assets that are
- 0:13in data tables
- 0:14but you want to view spatially and
- 0:16overlay them with mosaic's common data
- 0:18layers
- 0:19once you've signed up to Mosaic Pro
- 0:21you'll get access to the Mosaic
- 0:23workbench toolkit by clicking on the
- 0:25workbench icon
- 0:27if you are a first-time Mosaic Pro
- 0:29subscriber you get a 30-day free trial
- 0:31and use with no lock-in contracts to
- 0:33Trail mosaic
- 0:38Mosaic workbench was designed to give
- 0:40you control over customizing Mosaic to
- 0:42your bespoke needs there are three types
- 0:45of data sets that Mosaic will recognize
- 0:47and they are as a CSV file a geojason
- 0:50file and a KML file if your data files
- 0:54are in Excel you can easily convert into
- 0:56CSV file by changing the format from
- 0:59Excel to CSV Mosaic will need you make
- 1:02sure your data sets are clean from empty
- 1:04Fields repeated data sets and merged
- 1:06cells
- 1:07you may need to data clean your file so
- 1:10that it is in a neat and orderly format
- 1:12with columns and rows filled out
- 1:14what is also important is that your file
- 1:16has a spatial location such as latitude
- 1:19and longitude
- 1:20this allows Mosaic to spatially plot
- 1:23your data set on the digital map
- 1:25Mosaic also has an upload limit of 5
- 1:27megabytes per data set
- 1:29if your data set is too large for this
- 1:31you can either remove unwanted data
- 1:33columns or rows or break down into
- 1:36smaller sizes
- 1:37in this sample I have a data set of my
- 1:39property developments in an Excel file I
- 1:42have checked to make sure that my file
- 1:43is clean and ready for upload if at any
- 1:46time you get stuck in this process check
- 1:48out our troubleshooting section in the
- 1:50downloadable user guide when I'm happy
- 1:52that I have cleaned my data set and it
- 1:55is ready I'm going to Simply drop my
- 1:57data file into the Mosaic import window
- 1:59Mosaic will now automatically read my
- 2:02data set I'm going to give this dataset
- 2:04a name description icon and select a
- 2:07color scheme of my choosing I'm also
- 2:09going to check the data set fields and
- 2:11make any amendments or edits that I any
- 2:13need to do
- 2:22now that has been done mosaic has a
- 2:24checklist and when all is ready I'm
- 2:26going to import and Mosaic will now show
- 2:28this data set in my workbench in my
- 2:30workbench I now click on my new Mosaic
- 2:33layer and spatially visualize it in
- 2:35Mosaic where I can overlay it with
- 2:37mosaic's common data sets it really is
- 2:39that easy from here I can customize
- 2:41again at any time by editing my icons
- 2:43color scheme and data fields or by
- 2:46creating categories
- 2:48to find out more advanced features or to
