How To Create Journals On Lulu — Transcript

4. 0:18um today i'm going to be teaching you
5. 0:21guys how to create your own journal
6. 0:24on lulu which is a publishing site um so
7. 0:28i'm just going to jump right into the
8. 0:29steps
9. 0:30so when you create a book
10. 0:32let me make
11. 0:34so when you create a book
12. 0:36um a book you can create a book or a
13. 0:39journal
14. 0:40um so when you create a book or a
15. 0:41journal on
16. 0:44lulu there's different steps that you
17. 0:45have to go through
18. 0:47um
19. 0:50i got this big thing in the middle
20. 0:52okay
21. 0:53so
22. 0:53this is
23. 0:55one of my books that's on the actual
24. 0:57lulu site i have some other journals
25. 1:00that are on
26. 1:02other websites like barnes noble amazon
27. 1:05so um you have the availability to
28. 1:08either keep your book just on on lulu so
29. 1:11that's like if you just want to make the
30. 1:13book for yourself um you just want to
31. 1:14keep it as like a personal book and
32. 1:16maybe give it to different people or
33. 1:18even if you just want to sell it on your
34. 1:21on your own time without being on the
35. 1:23lulu's website you can do that as well
36. 1:25you also have the option to
37. 1:28do distribution outside of lulu which is
38. 1:31barnes noble bookstore and
39. 1:34amazon
40. 1:36it does take up a big portion of your
41. 1:38profit is because of all the things that
42. 1:40has to be printed i mean all the fees
43. 1:43that has to be attached to it so you
44. 1:46want to be mindful of that um
45. 1:48i just like doing this so it's really
46. 1:50not a big deal of how much is made how
47. 1:53much i'm gonna get from it i just look
48. 1:55at it as if i put multiples on there
49. 1:57then it'll generate multiple pass
50. 2:00it's a passive income so
51. 2:03that's how you should think about it at
52. 2:04least that's how i think about it so
53. 2:06when you come to lulu um in order to
54. 2:08sell on here
55. 2:10you do have to sign up with lulu you do
56. 2:12have to create
57. 2:14um
58. 2:16a sign in
59. 2:17with a w9 it's going to actually for a
60. 2:19w-9 your social security number is going
61. 2:21to actually all that information i'm not
62. 2:22going to go into
63. 2:24how to set that up because i'm just
64. 2:25showing you a video of how to make the
65. 2:27journal um maybe i'll do a later
66. 2:30video to show how the setup is
67. 2:32um but for creating so you want to go to
68. 2:35the create portion of it
69. 2:38of the website
70. 2:39so you would just hit create and you
71. 2:41would hit
72. 2:42um print books but before we do that we
73. 2:45need the resources because we need the
74. 2:47guides
75. 2:48um the templates
76. 2:50in order to design off of so we're going
77. 2:52to be using canva to design our
78. 2:57journals
79. 2:59so
80. 3:00once you click guide and templates
81. 3:04that is going to bring you to
82. 3:07this page
83. 3:10and when you get to this page you want
84. 3:12to scroll all the way down
85. 3:15so right here under design guide bundle
86. 3:18this is going to give you a list
87. 3:20of different sizes
88. 3:23what i've been using so far is executive
89. 3:25which is a 7x10 um
90. 3:28it's really
91. 3:30it's really up to you what size you want
92. 3:32to use if you want to use a comic book
93. 3:34sites they have the a4 landscape they
94. 3:37have the regular us letter the 8.5 by 11
95. 3:40so it's really up to you so you want to
96. 3:41pick one of these options so i'm gonna
97. 3:43just go with what i've been using which
98. 3:45is the executive 7x10
99. 3:49and that's going to download the
100. 3:50templates for me i'm not going to
101. 3:52download them because i already have
102. 3:53them but yeah i'm going to show you what
103. 3:54they look like
104. 3:56and then you also want to download since
105. 3:58you're in here
106. 4:00whether you're going to use blank
107. 4:01interior pages line interior pages graph
108. 4:04pages dot pages there's all kind of
109. 4:07pages
110. 4:08um
111. 4:09you have interior planner pages weekly
112. 4:12daily monthly it's a lot so it's
113. 4:15basically what you want
114. 4:17but we are just going to use the
115. 4:20interior line pages
116. 4:22again i'm not going to download it
117. 4:24because i already have it i'm going to
118. 4:25show you
119. 4:26um what it looks like
120. 4:29um so this line interior is the one i
121. 4:31normally use and then for my craft or
122. 4:33art ones i use the blank interiors it's
123. 4:36basically like a 7 by 10
124. 4:39ish
125. 4:41sheet of paper in canva and you
126. 4:43basically designed off design off of
127. 4:45that so i'm gonna do it this just the
128. 4:48easy tutorial where we're just gonna
129. 4:49create the
130. 4:51the
131. 4:51cover of the journal
132. 4:54the rest is to be all lined interior so
133. 4:56when you click this download line
134. 4:58interior it gives you an option
135. 5:00for
136. 5:01um sizes so executive whatever other
137. 5:04size they have in here i would always
138. 5:05select the executive
139. 5:07so i already have that downloaded again
140. 5:10so what i'm going to do is i'm going to
141. 5:12go to canva
142. 5:16and then
143. 5:17[Music]
144. 5:18i'm going to create a new one so i
145. 5:21already have the measurements saved
146. 5:24so i normally usually create
147. 5:27my
148. 5:28cover first
149. 5:30which is
150. 5:327.125 by 10.25
151. 5:36um
152. 5:42there's one that's not the right one
153. 5:45i'm gonna go back
154. 5:47that's for your interior pages actually
155. 5:51it's 14 point
156. 5:53something
157. 5:54so i'm gonna go back to
158. 5:56create design
159. 6:00and i'm gonna do custom i already have
160. 6:02it so here it is 14 by i'm sorry
161. 6:05fourteen point five three five by ten
162. 6:08point two five
163. 6:11this is what i use
164. 6:13everything for my journals is is fine um
165. 6:16i'll attach some pictures
166. 6:18of what the journals look like
167. 6:20so that you guys can see
168. 6:22so this is a blank cheat so
169. 6:26we need to make sure that we have a
170. 6:28guide that we can design off of so that
171. 6:31when we upload it into lulu um it will
172. 6:34take so i'm going to go to my uploads
173. 6:36because i already have it here
174. 6:40these are all my little pages
175. 6:44that i've been creating so
176. 6:47i'm gonna scroll down until i get to
177. 6:50what i need
178. 6:51which is the template
179. 6:56so this is what the template looks like
180. 6:59so you may need so how i downloaded this
181. 7:02template is it comes in the form of a
182. 7:04pdf
183. 7:05you may need to convert we will need to
184. 7:08convert
185. 7:09um the pdf
186. 7:11to a png and i just went to a free
187. 7:14converter uploaded my pdf file that i
188. 7:16already have for the
189. 7:18guideline and then it switched it to a
190. 7:20png and then i uploaded it and uploaded
191. 7:23it into canva you can't upload a pdf
192. 7:26into
193. 7:28canva to design off of it has to be a
194. 7:31png or a jpeg so i just uploaded it as a
195. 7:35um png
196. 7:37so we're just going to take this
197. 7:40and stretch it all the way out the nice
198. 7:42thing about this is
199. 7:46if you find that it doesn't go to the
200. 7:47edge you want to bring it
201. 7:50zoom it zoom down a little bit
202. 7:53so that you can take it all the way to
203. 7:54the end
204. 7:55okay the nice thing about this is
205. 7:58right here on the right side it's gonna
206. 8:00tell you
207. 8:02what the size should be
208. 8:06but if you have
209. 8:08um
210. 8:09pictures that's gonna go all the way to
211. 8:11the edge you have to add that bleed in
212. 8:15so that's where i came up with that
213. 8:16measurement um it also provides the
214. 8:19information to the website of how much
215. 8:22it should be if you have the and it'll
216. 8:24tell you once you upload it will tell
217. 8:26you your book needs to be such and
218. 8:28subsidized and you just come back to
219. 8:30canva and then change it to that size so
220. 8:33if you do all the steps that i'm doing
221. 8:35in this video you should have
222. 8:38no problems whatsoever unless your
223. 8:40sizing is off so see how my scissors cut
224. 8:42off so i need to bring that in just dab
225. 8:45it so
226. 8:46you don't want the scissors cut off
227. 8:48right here
228. 8:49it's basically these what these lines
229. 8:51mean this this middle part is going to
230. 8:53be your binding part
231. 8:55i basically just stay within the white
232. 8:58for each side
233. 8:59um if it hangs over that's fine but just
234. 9:02make sure like it's it's not nothing
235. 9:03that's important you also want to make
236. 9:05sure when you're designing the middle
237. 9:06part of this this is where the fold is
238. 9:09going to be so this is where like the
239. 9:11middle of the book is going to be so if
240. 9:13you have something that's going to bleed
241. 9:14all the way over to this side you want
242. 9:16to make sure that you fix that this is
243. 9:19where the barcode goes because you will
244. 9:20have a barcode if you're selling outside
245. 9:23of lulu so amazon
246. 9:25um
247. 9:26and barnes and noble they will provide
248. 9:29you
249. 9:30the
250. 9:30um
251. 9:32what is it the isbn to go right there so
252. 9:36you just it's just like basically
253. 9:37telling you where to put stuff at so
254. 9:39that's the cool thing about it
255. 9:41um so i'm gonna go in
256. 9:45i'm actually going to
257. 9:48find a background let me show you guys
258. 9:50what the picture look like that i choose
259. 9:53so i just chose
260. 9:55just a random saying
261. 10:02here
262. 10:10so i'm going to scroll up
263. 10:19so this is it right here
264. 10:21so this is pretty big
265. 10:25which i could
266. 10:27i could leave it this size
267. 10:30it's not a big problem but i'm gonna
268. 10:31make it smaller
269. 10:34just to tap it
270. 10:37like i said i like to keep it within
271. 10:39these lines
272. 10:41it's fine if it goes a little outside
273. 10:43because going to the left is the book
274. 10:45binding part going to the right is the
275. 10:47edge of the page so
276. 10:48it's really not that that big of a deal
277. 10:51i can
278. 10:52move this down a little bit to the
279. 10:54center or i can just keep it up to the
280. 10:56top however um let's move it
281. 11:03so we see how that looks
282. 11:07um
283. 11:10so i'm gonna add i also
284. 11:13like to put my
285. 11:15logo on the back
286. 11:17instead of putting my name on the front
287. 11:18i started off putting my name on the
288. 11:19front
289. 11:20but from now on i'm just going to put my
290. 11:22logo on the back that's just brandon
291. 11:25so i'm going to minimize this a little
292. 11:26bit this little square
293. 11:42i'm just going to kind of
294. 11:45put this in the middle you see there is
295. 11:47a pink line so it's basically telling me
296. 11:49that this is
297. 11:50in the middle
298. 11:52um
299. 11:54there used there's usually a line
300. 11:57going
301. 11:58to the top part of the middle of the
302. 11:59page but it's not showing
303. 12:01so anywhere i put the logo in the middle
304. 12:06a little bit downward
305. 12:08or i'm a little bit up to about right
306. 12:11there and i can kind of see in the
307. 12:13middle just because of lulu's
308. 12:15uh live area that they have in the back
309. 12:17little words that they have in the back
310. 12:21so now i know like the placing of
311. 12:23everything
312. 12:25is
313. 12:27pretty much in the back
314. 12:30we're not in the back but pretty much it
315. 12:32within the areas
316. 12:34i'm gonna take this off if i need it
317. 12:35which i probably will
318. 12:37so now i'm just going to add a
319. 12:38background
320. 12:41i do pay for
321. 12:44um canvas
322. 12:47subscription
323. 12:49so i do have pro features that's what it
324. 12:51is pro
325. 12:52loss for words for this video i haven't
326. 12:54done a youtube video in a minute also
327. 12:58um
328. 13:00so i'm just gonna choose
329. 13:02a cute little
330. 13:04background so some of these pictures
331. 13:07that you might see
332. 13:10on here
333. 13:11may not be
334. 13:15pictures that you see on your side
335. 13:17because again i have pro so i'm going to
336. 13:18click background
337. 13:26and this is just for video purpose i'm
338. 13:27not going to take like a whole bunch of
339. 13:28time trying to figure out exactly
340. 13:31what type of background
341. 13:34i want i'm gonna try to pick something
342. 13:37that is
343. 13:39pretty much
344. 13:41matching to what the picture kind of is
345. 13:45um
346. 13:49so let's see

351. 14:10and i can go to position
352. 14:12and send it backwards

358. 14:28oh stretch it out again you can send it
359. 14:31to the back like right now if you want
360. 14:33to i usually just stretch it out first
361. 14:36and then send it to the back

363. 14:40backwards backwards

365. 14:47i also
366. 14:53actually like that

368. 14:57so let's say we're pretty much done with
369. 14:59cover
370. 15:02we don't need to unless you want to you
371. 15:04can bring back up your template just to
372. 15:06make sure
373. 15:07that everything is
374. 15:10where it's supposed to be
375. 15:16um
376. 15:19you don't need to group it
377. 15:22some pictures need to be flattened you
378. 15:24have to take it um
379. 15:26and flatten it which group it
380. 15:30so
381. 15:30i'm just gonna
382. 15:32change on the top
383. 15:34see where it says untitled design right
384. 15:36here i'm just gonna change that
385. 15:39to what i'm going to save it as so
386. 15:42i'm just going to put positive
387. 15:48and i'm going to put
388. 15:53and
389. 15:58i'm gonna go to download
390. 16:00we want to save this as a pdf quality
391. 16:05multi-page document
392. 16:09and then click i'm going to just click
393. 16:10download
394. 16:11so that's going to be saved
395. 16:14but i'm going to go back
396. 16:18and i am going to open up another create
397. 16:23design
398. 16:24well actually i don't even need to do
399. 16:25that
400. 16:26online
401. 16:27okay let me show you guys the interior
402. 16:29page so the next step would be the
403. 16:31interior page
404. 16:32so i
405. 16:33have a
406. 16:35file called journal where i keep
407. 16:37everything in basically
408. 16:40so we want to go down to
409. 16:44find the interior pages
410. 16:53so
411. 16:54here we are so remember i said that i i
412. 16:57used a 7x10 executive so all i'm looking
413. 17:00for
414. 17:01you'll see it in the download it's
415. 17:02pretty simple it's like three different
416. 17:04things there you just want to select the
417. 17:06one that you use so make sure you write
418. 17:08down or you remember
419. 17:10which interior
420. 17:12you use
421. 17:13because it has to stay consistent
422. 17:15so i'm going to click this
423. 17:18interior line just so you guys can see
424. 17:20it's just
425. 17:21a hundred pages of line paper basically
426. 17:25so it also allows you to decide or to
427. 17:28choose if you want 100 200 300 pages
428. 17:32most of my journals well all of my
429. 17:33journals are 100 pages
430. 17:36so
431. 17:36and if you do
432. 17:38plan on designing you're going to have
433. 17:40to design a hundred pages so just be
434. 17:43mindful of that
435. 17:45it's just blank pages so i'm just
436. 17:46showing you guys what the interior look
437. 17:48like so i don't have to create that
438. 17:49because lulu has already done that so
439. 17:51all i have to do
440. 17:53is upload that i'm trying to get out of
441. 17:57here okay
442. 18:02so now that we created the cover
443. 18:07we go back to lulu
444. 18:11i'ma hook a mouse up next time
445. 18:14to my laptop so we go back to lulu so
446. 18:17we're gonna go to create
447. 18:19you're gonna go to print books
448. 18:22start your print book
449. 18:28you're going to print
450. 18:29you're going to print you're going to
451. 18:30click print book
452. 18:37so this is the part where you select
453. 18:38your goal so you either publish your
454. 18:40book and it basically says you have the
455. 18:42option to sell your book to over 40 000
456. 18:44retailers libraries schools
457. 18:46through the lulu bookstore amazon and
458. 18:48global distribution services
459. 18:50please note books for sale require a
460. 18:53title page copyright page and isbn if
461. 18:57you are just printing your book you want
462. 18:59to make it for yourself or you're
463. 19:00printing a book and you just want to get
464. 19:02a copy before you actually put it for
465. 19:05distribution you can just do
466. 19:07um print your book and basically it says
467. 19:09your book will be uploaded um to your
468. 19:11account and available to you for
469. 19:14purchasing copies in your quantity you
470. 19:17desire
471. 19:18so
472. 19:19we just want to here
473. 19:21add a project title
474. 19:25um what was my thing called
475. 19:28i think
476. 19:31we'll just call it a positive mind
477. 19:48i wanna put
478. 19:58so we will select the language
479. 20:02english
480. 20:04unless you speak some type of language
481. 20:06or you want to say a book in a different
482. 20:07language
483. 20:09english
484. 20:12normally
485. 20:23um
486. 20:25because these books are related to
487. 20:26crafts i usually just put craft
488. 20:29um and hobbies you can select whatever
489. 20:31you want from that list
490. 20:33and then the next step will be to design
491. 20:35your project
492. 20:42so right here once you design your
493. 20:45project it's going to start off with the
494. 20:46interior file upload so remember that's
495. 20:49already created for us because we got it
496. 20:50from lulu so nothing should go bad with
497. 20:53that one if anything
498. 20:55um to stop you from uploading that
499. 20:56because you're not doing anything but
500. 20:58uploading directly
501. 21:00to upload for the 100 pages
502. 21:03all the pages are going to be there so
503. 21:05you don't have to design no lines or
504. 21:06nothing so that's the cool part about
505. 21:08that
506. 21:09um
507. 21:16here it is
508. 21:19so i found the file i'm just going to
509. 21:20click open
510. 21:22and it's going to go through the process
511. 21:25um sometimes it can take a long time
512. 21:26sometimes it happens really quick so
513. 21:28that was quick so you see right here
514. 21:29it's successful you got the green is
515. 21:31good to go you'll need to change
516. 21:33anything sometimes you will see like in
517. 21:35red oh it's 200 between 200 and 300
518. 21:39pixels or something like that
519. 21:41and it's really big it's like a big
520. 21:43paragraph red so it kind of scares you
521. 21:45like oh my gosh like is your book gonna
522. 21:47be printed out okay
523. 21:48do you need to redo something um
524. 21:50sometimes you do need to re do something
525. 21:52but sometimes it's just maybe your isbn
526. 21:55that you put in on the cover or the
527. 21:58interior pages your pictures or whatever
528. 22:00you made them smaller
529. 22:01or you made them transparent it's just
530. 22:04basically saying that the pixels are
531. 22:05going to be super small
532. 22:08um
533. 22:09smaller than 200 or so because you made
534. 22:12the picture smaller but you're going to
535. 22:13be able to view
536. 22:15everything that you created before you
537. 22:18even click to distribute your book or to
538. 22:20get a copy
539. 22:22and if you do need to change something
540. 22:23after you got a copy you haven't
541. 22:25distributed it yet so pretty much you
542. 22:27you're still good to go it's no big deal
543. 22:29you can always change it
544. 22:31so the next one would be book size and
545. 22:33page count so remember that's what i
546. 22:36said write it down
547. 22:37um this is executive so that's because
548. 22:40that's what i chose it automatically
549. 22:42knows because of what i choose or what i
550. 22:45picked for
551. 22:46the
552. 22:47line pages which is executive 7x10 so it
553. 22:50knows that and it puts 100 pages
554. 22:54so you also have the option for the
555. 22:56interior color black and white premium
556. 22:59black and white standard color or color
557. 23:01standard
558. 23:02um
559. 23:03i usually go a color standard color
560. 23:05premium is a little bit more if you have
561. 23:06a black and white book and choose black
562. 23:08and white
563. 23:09totally up to you
564. 23:11the paper type you have 80 coated white
565. 23:14or 60 coated white i normally go with 60
566. 23:16coated
567. 23:17um white
568. 23:19the book binding i normally go with
569. 23:21paper
570. 23:22you can go with spyro or you can go a
571. 23:24hardcover you can just make a regular
572. 23:26notebook with spiral just create your
573. 23:28front page and bam is good to go you can
574. 23:30upload it
575. 23:31so the next step would be do you want it
576. 23:33glossy or do you want it back
577. 23:35that is super cute glossy is super cute
578. 23:38too but i just been doing that so you
579. 23:40see the print cost is six dollars and
580. 23:42fifty cents that is how much it will
581. 23:44cost lulu to print this book
582. 23:47but you need to decide how much you are
583. 23:49going to sell it for
584. 23:51um
585. 23:53and now we're going to go to the design
586. 23:55cover
587. 23:56so remember i just made that in canva
588. 24:00all i'm going to do is go to my download
589. 24:02file
590. 24:09a lot so it's right there
591. 24:13upload it
592. 24:15again sometimes it takes a while for it
593. 24:17to upload it has to go through
594. 24:18finalizing and
595. 24:21all these different steps
596. 24:24and won't let you move on to the next
597. 24:25step until
598. 24:27this is finished processing so don't try
599. 24:29to go to the next step while this is
600. 24:31processed and it's not gonna work
601. 24:33um you can see right there there's a
602. 24:35lulu template cover creator there's also
603. 24:38cover creator powered by canva so you
604. 24:40can click that and design directly in
605. 24:43canva so you see that successful upload
606. 24:46um for the cover is all green i'm good
607. 24:48to go i don't need to change anything
608. 24:49everything is fine
609. 24:51so right here it's going to give me the
610. 24:53review of the book
611. 24:55so
612. 24:56it shows you the margin the bleed the
613. 24:57folds and the trim just areas that you
614. 25:00want to be careful of when you're
615. 25:01printing the book
616. 25:03um it can go
617. 25:05outside of this area but you want to
618. 25:07make sure it's not all like i said i
619. 25:09always just make sure it's within the
620. 25:11white just to be safe
621. 25:12a little bit in a blue that's fine
622. 25:15just make sure like it's no words that's
623. 25:17going all the way off the edge so you
624. 25:19also can turn off the trim
625. 25:23the foam the bleed
626. 25:25and the margin
627. 25:26and then you can just see what your book
628. 25:28looks like without all of that
629. 25:31so it's going to let you see everything
630. 25:33so you're going to be able to see the
631. 25:34inside so that is pretty much your book
632. 25:37because remember we uploaded the simple
633. 25:40step of
634. 25:41100 pages already created by lulu you
635. 25:44can create your own pages if you like
636. 25:47simple i just wanted to be the simple
637. 25:49version
638. 25:50so that's simple
639. 25:52and it's going to give you print ready
640. 25:54files
641. 25:57i suggest
642. 25:59when you upload these files of the print
643. 26:01ready when you decide like this is it
644. 26:03i've created everything i don't have any
645. 26:05issues make sure you save these files in
646. 26:08the safe place because
647. 26:11if you decided to oh you know what i'm
648. 26:13going to sell on kdp adp is another
649. 26:16place that you can sell your journal
650. 26:17which is amazon so you can upload your
651. 26:20book
652. 26:20to kdp and i have to do that much if you
653. 26:23already have these print files
654. 26:25their
655. 26:26um
656. 26:27templates
657. 26:28is
658. 26:29they pretty much go by the same thing
659. 26:31i'm not sure if that's what everybody
660. 26:33that that creates that creates journals
661. 26:35for your publishing place i'm not sure
662. 26:37if it's just all across the board but i
663. 26:39know when i upload my stuff from
664. 26:42um lulu to
665. 26:46kdp
666. 26:47i don't have any issues it's pretty much
667. 26:49the same standards of the law side of
668. 26:52this line basically basically that edge
669. 26:54line
670. 26:55so the next step would be to
671. 26:58review the book
672. 27:02so basically it's telling me
673. 27:03congratulations your book is nearly
674. 27:05complete you don't think and when you
675. 27:08get to this part you are done you're not
676. 27:10you still have to see this little i
677. 27:13missed this the first time i did it see
678. 27:14this little
679. 27:16blue area you want to make sure that you
680. 27:17check these
681. 27:22basically saying
682. 27:24confirm
683. 27:30you can always go in and revise the book
684. 27:34so it's giving you
685. 27:36the front cover of what it's what the
686. 27:38book is gonna look like
687. 27:42so and it's telling you can add it to
688. 27:43the cart
689. 27:45there is
690. 27:47i'm gonna go back to show you guys
691. 27:50what it would look like if you did
692. 27:52um distribution
693. 27:56i'm gonna take you back to the very
694. 27:58beginning
695. 28:01and you guys might not do these steps
696. 28:03but this is just how i do it so let's
697. 28:05say you wanted to publish a book

829. 34:59file is normalizing so this takes a
830. 35:01little bit longer

832. 35:04how it popped up with the red images
833. 35:07your file contains images with
834. 35:09resolution less than 200 pixels per inch
835. 35:12lulu just using images with a pixel of
836. 35:16200-600 for the best results i didn't
837. 35:18have any issues before i did that so we
838. 35:21know that that is the isbn is super
839. 35:23small
840. 35:24in the corner which i don't want it
841. 35:26super big and it's even when it's a
842. 35:29little bit like a medium size is when
843. 35:32you get the book it's going to look like
844. 35:34it's
845. 35:35pixelated so
846. 35:37you want to make that not too small but
847. 35:39small enough
848. 35:42um so right now it's going to show you
849. 35:45how small it is
850. 35:47so it's small enough
851. 35:49we take the trim off the fold off the
852. 35:51bleed
853. 35:52the margin
854. 35:55and that's the book
855. 36:03details at this point it takes you to
856. 36:05another step
857. 36:07versus just creating it for you to just
858. 36:10have personally
859. 36:12so basically i'm going to open up

901. 37:58just use diaries and journals
902. 38:02um category two
903. 38:05i just try to pick something else off
904. 38:06the list
905. 38:08that pertains to
906. 38:10the journal
907. 38:11so
908. 38:13self-help journaling
909. 38:17um and then
910. 38:19another one
911. 38:26and just all pertaining to the book
912. 38:30um
913. 38:40other than
914. 38:46just pick
915. 38:47um
916. 38:51keywords
917. 38:52so i just been putting crap
918. 38:55i don't know there is a way to search
919. 38:57for keywords i'll do that in another
920. 38:59video
921. 39:00but these are just some some small
922. 39:02keywords just
923. 39:04if you're doing anything else on the
924. 39:06website or youtube video
925. 39:09your tags or whatever

946. 40:11that you would have to charge
947. 40:13um what i charge for these

994. 42:16100 of the payment is going to me and
995. 42:19i'm getting paid through paypal i think
996. 42:20it gives you two options to get paid
997. 42:22through paypal i want to say by mail
998. 42:25you don't get paid for this like on a
999. 42:28weekly or bi-weekly basis their payout
1000. 42:31is monthly
1001. 42:32and if you decide that you don't want to
1002. 42:34use paypal and you want it to be mail i
1003. 42:36think it's like a 60-day waiting period
1004. 42:39so um i would use paypal if you don't
1005. 42:41have paypal um
1006. 42:43i know i suggest you get one
1007. 42:46um
1008. 42:47so then here you would click final
1009. 42:49review i'm just going to click final

1019. 43:08duper important the print ready files
1020. 43:10make sure you upload those and look at
1021. 43:13them zoom in to everything
1022. 43:15um just to make sure like stuff is not
1023. 43:18off make sure stuff is centered and
1024. 43:20stuff like that
1025. 43:21um so i can go in here and i can confirm
1026. 43:26confirm everything
1027. 43:41so basically what happens after
1028. 43:42confirming i'm just going through these
1029. 43:44steps so you guys can see
1030. 43:46um after going through the confirm
1031. 43:53so it's going to upload with the go
1032. 43:55global distribution so it's telling you
1033. 43:57after you approve your proof copy
1034. 44:00lulu's distribution partners including
1035. 44:02amazon barnes and noble and ingram will
1036. 44:06review your book to ensure it meets
1037. 44:08their standards before making your book
1038. 44:10available for sale on their sites
1039. 44:14so right now it's on private access
1040. 44:18because i do not want to sell the book
1041. 44:20just yet so if you did let's say you
1042. 44:22were ready with everything then you
1043. 44:24would just pick um
1044. 44:26general access so available for sale on
1045. 44:29lulu's bookstore immediately
1046. 44:31if you want to just provide the url you
1047. 44:34can click direct access but whatever you
1048. 44:36do you still have to
1049. 44:38you're going to have to order a copy of
1050. 44:40the book in order for it to be approved
1051. 44:43for distribution because they want you
1052. 44:44to check the book to make sure
1053. 44:47everything is
1054. 44:49cool make sure everything is together
1055. 44:51make sure
1056. 44:52you like it
1057. 44:55um and then after that once you get the
1058. 44:57book you can approve it or if you think
1059. 45:00everything is already approved what it's
1060. 45:01going to do is after you click that
1061. 45:04button at the bottom
1062. 45:05and let's say you purchase it
1063. 45:08if you wait like an hour or so
1064. 45:10you can just go to approve copy
1065. 45:14and it will automatically start
1066. 45:16distribution
1067. 45:17um i think within like another hour or
1068. 45:19so it doesn't take that much time but
1069. 45:21they'll put it up for distribution
1070. 45:23not much time at all super easy
1071. 45:25not too hard um
1072. 45:28things cart things start getting a
1073. 45:29little bit more complex when you start
1074. 45:31adding pages you want to create your own
1075. 45:33pages
1076. 45:34um
1077. 45:35i usually get pictures off of different
1078. 45:38websites that allows commercial use
1079. 45:40don't go using google pictures
1080. 45:42that you don't know if there can be
1081. 45:44commercially used some of the most of
1082. 45:46those pictures are just for personal use
1083. 45:48so you don't want to step on nobody's
1084. 45:49toes and be using their pictures
1085. 45:51or even get suit
1086. 45:53um
1087. 45:55see what's another thing
1088. 45:58just make sure i usually make sure that
1089. 46:01i order each book
1090. 46:02just to kind of know to make sure that i
1091. 46:04don't have
1092. 46:06any issues with the book
1093. 46:08um for something like this this easy
1094. 46:11it's basically showing me what it's
1095. 46:12going to look like so it couldn't be too
1096. 46:14too many errors it's not no errors at
1097. 46:17all actually
1098. 46:18because everything is the way we want it
1099. 46:20to be so
1100. 46:21i would order the book and then just
1101. 46:23click approve
1102. 46:24without even getting the book because i
1103. 46:26already know what it's going to look
1104. 46:27like it's just lying pages in the inside
1105. 46:29and you're just approving the cover now
1106. 46:31let's say you created a whole book you
1107. 46:33wrote a book with some
1108. 46:35birds and you created pictures and all
1109. 46:37this stuff i would say order the book
1110. 46:40and get the book first see if you like
1111. 46:43it then if you do then hit approve don't
1112. 46:45approve the book for distribution and
1113. 46:47you haven't even looked at it yet and
1114. 46:48you got all these pictures and all these
1115. 46:50this all this stuff in your book that
1116. 46:52you really need to make sure that it's
1117. 46:54not going off the page
1118. 46:56or
1119. 46:57it's
1120. 46:58not there um a lot of things can happen
1121. 47:02in the process so just make sure that
1122. 47:04you look
1123. 47:05through your book and make sure you
1124. 47:08make sure everything is cool and approve
1125. 47:10it
1126. 47:11so that is it
1127. 47:14i think i'm gonna do another video for
1128. 47:16kdp it's basically the same thing i
1129. 47:18normally just take my files that i
1130. 47:21did from
1131. 47:22lulu i just take it over to kdp that's a
1132. 47:25whole another
