- 0:00Like you can touch me.
- 0:02Like this. It's nothing, okay? It's my
- 0:04bone.
- 0:06Ah, just [clears throat] like this.
- 0:08Our sound recordist Semi was skeptical
- 0:11at first.
- 0:15>> [laughter]
- 0:18[clears throat]
- 0:20>> Later he told us that anybody could
- 0:22learn this. God had given us all the yin
- 0:24yang clarity.
- 0:26But it takes discipline and meditation
- 0:28to awaken and control it.
- 0:33And you must be very aware of your
- 0:34emotions.
- 0:39This energy can be dangerous.
- 0:42It can kill as well as heal.
- 0:45>> [music]
- 0:48>> Projecting chi from the palm of the hand
- 0:50can also be used to resist rifle
- 0:52pellets, he says.
- 0:56>> [music]
- 1:03>> What you have just seen is not a scene
- 1:05from fiction.
- 1:06The man appearing in those images is
- 1:08John Chang, a master of a very little
- 1:10known tradition called Mopai.
- 1:13A practice that is part of something
- 1:15broader,
- 1:16internal alchemy.
- 1:19A system that has its roots in ancient
- 1:21Chinese Taoism where it is known as
- 1:23Neidan, and that for centuries has
- 1:25sought to understand, refine, and direct
- 1:28the energy of the human body from
- 1:29within,
- 1:30>> [music]
- 1:31>> the chi.
- 1:33Then he asked for our newspaper.
- 2:05>> For centuries, this knowledge was kept
- 2:07hidden.
- 2:08Passed quietly from master to student
- 2:10within small, secretive circles far
- 2:13beyond the reach of the Western world.
- 2:16That is why footage like what we've just
- 2:18seen is so rare.
- 2:20>> [music]
- 2:20>> These practices were almost never meant
- 2:22to be shown publicly.
- 2:24But beyond the mystery and spectacle, a
- 2:27bigger question remains.
- 2:29What is really happening here?
- 2:31>> [music]
- 2:32>> Where does this energy come from?
- 2:34And what could human beings be capable
- 2:36of if we truly learned how to sense it,
- 2:39control it, and direct it?
- 2:42In the early 1980s, a group of
- 2:44documentary filmmakers [music] traveled
- 2:46deep into Indonesia after hearing rumors
- 2:49about a healer with abilities that
- 2:50seemed almost impossible.
- 2:53Their goal was simple, yet incredibly
- 2:55ambitious.
- 2:57To capture on camera, for the very first
- 2:59time, the abilities of John Chang, a
- 3:02master of the Mopai tradition, who
- 3:04claimed he could generate real
- 3:06bioelectric energy from within his own
- 3:08body. What they witnessed left everyone
- 3:11speechless.
- 3:13>> [laughter]
- 3:16>> Chang not only performed acupuncture by
- 3:19transmitting powerful electrical
- 3:20discharges through the needles,
- 3:22but he also seemed capable of igniting
- 3:24paper with his hands,
- 3:26moving objects without touching them,
- 3:29and even piercing a solid wooden table
- 3:32with a simple plastic toothpick. So, I
- 3:34invited a small group of scientists back
- 3:36from the United [music] States with
- 3:37measuring equipment to test if DJ was
- 3:41for real.
- 3:43And if so, where might this energy
- 3:45belong on the electromagnetic spectrum?
- 3:48Years later, the team returned
- 3:50accompanied by a group of scientists who
- 3:52attempted to measure and analyze these
- 3:54phenomena using different instruments.
- 3:57They witnessed the demonstrations
- 3:59firsthand without finding a clear
- 4:01explanation or evidence of fraud.
- 4:04However, after displaying his abilities
- 4:06on camera,
- 4:08something happened that changed
- 4:10everything.
- 4:11According to his own testimony, John
- 4:13Chang was visited throughout an entire
- 4:15night by his already deceased master who
- 4:19severely reprimanded him for having
- 4:21violated the strict taboos of his
- 4:22lineage.
- 4:24Deeply impacted, Chang made a radical
- 4:26decision
- 4:28to cut all contact with the outside
- 4:30world.
- 4:31He disappeared from the public scene,
- 4:33forbade any new recordings, and withdrew
- 4:36completely swearing never to show his
- 4:38abilities to the public eye again. And
- 4:41for years,
- 4:42>> [music]
- 4:42>> nothing more was known about John Chang.
- 4:46His story faded back into mystery.
- 4:49No new recordings surfaced, and he made
- 4:51no public appearances
- 4:53until recently when Mel Gibson appeared
- 4:56on the The Joe Rogan Experience and
- 4:58shared a story as surprising as it was
- 5:01fascinating.
- 5:02I used to have a chi gong master. This
- 5:04is what
- 5:05kind of blows my mind about
- 5:08medicine and about
- 5:11>> [music]
- 5:11>> ancient stuff.
- 5:13And he'd come in and he could like point
- 5:15at you
- 5:16right from this far away and you'd feel
- 5:19it.
- 5:20>> [music]
- 5:20>> But like feel it like to the as palpable
- 5:23as someone pushing you around. It's like
- 5:26Really?
- 5:26>> Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm not kidding.
- 5:28What's interesting about this testimony
- 5:30is that it doesn't describe a vague or
- 5:32subjective sensation.
- 5:35According to Mel Gibson, what he
- 5:37experienced was something physical and
- 5:39direct.
- 5:40He wasn't talking about imagining
- 5:42energy,
- 5:44but about feeling a real force
- 5:46as if something invisible were
- 5:48interacting with his own body. And
- 5:50what's most striking is that according
- 5:52to his account, no contact was needed.
- 5:56But what happened next was even more
- 5:58unsettling.
- 6:01He uh one time he was working on me and
- 6:04he was
- 6:06working on my liver. He said, "Your
- 6:07liver's blocked." Cuz he looks at you.
- 6:11And if you look at him, he looks away.
- 6:12>> [music]
- 6:12>> And his wife engages you while he checks
- 6:14you out. And then he gives you a little
- 6:16body map and he puts X's all over it and
- 6:18you go, "Yeah, that's right. I got a
- 6:19pain here and a thing there." And I you
- 6:21know, he knows where everything is.
- 6:23One day he's at me on my back and he's
- 6:25pushing and I can feel my back go and
- 6:27I'm at the wall. He hit me he started
- 6:30yelling at my organ, at my liver. Like,
- 6:33"Get out." You know, whatever. And I I
- 6:36went up the wall and there was like 8 in
- 6:38of air under my heels
- 6:40and I was up the wall and I was like,
- 6:42"Whoa." And I came back down. It freaked
- 6:44me out.
- 6:45There are others like it. Oh, yeah, he's
- 6:47not the only one. He learned it from
- 6:48somebody and I think he I think he
- 6:51imparted some knowledge. [music] To
- 6:52truly understand what we are seeing in
- 6:54cases like that of John Chang or in the
- 6:56experience described [music] by Mel
- 6:58Gibson,
- 6:59we have to stop thinking of chi as
- 7:01something mystical
- 7:03and start seeing it as what many
- 7:04traditions describe,
- 7:06a universal force.
- 7:09The ancient Taoists sought to uncover
- 7:11the origins of life and existence.
- 7:14Through centuries of external
- 7:16observation and internal introspection,
- 7:19they came to the conclusion that all
- 7:20forms of life were founded on a single
- 7:23principle,
- 7:25a kind of energy that animated them.
- 7:28For the ancients, chi was not just
- 7:30something that circulates within the
- 7:32body,
- 7:33but the energy that fills and sustains
- 7:35everything that exists.
- 7:38This principle is explained in Taoism
- 7:40through what is known as the three
- 7:41powers or sun sai.
- 7:44Heaven,
- 7:46earth,
- 7:47and human.
- 7:48The chi of heaven refers to the forces
- 7:50that act from above,
- 7:52the light of the sun, the influence
- 7:54[clears throat] of the moon, natural
- 7:56cycles, and even the radiation of the
- 7:58stars.
- 8:00Everything that in one way or another
- 8:02conditions life on earth.
- 8:05The chi of earth, on the other hand, is
- 8:07related to the planet's magnetic field,
- 8:10the energetic currents that run through
- 8:12the ground, and the invisible patterns
- 8:14that structure the environment in which
- 8:16we live. And finally,
- 8:18there is the chi of human,
- 8:21your energy,
- 8:22>> [music]
- 8:22>> a dynamic system that is in constant
- 8:25interaction with those two forces.
- 8:28From this perspective, the human being
- 8:30is not an isolated system,
- 8:32but a point of connection between heaven
- 8:34and earth,
- 8:36a living bridge.
- 8:38And this is where everything begins to
- 8:40make sense.
- 8:42What science today describes as
- 8:43bioelectricity
- 8:45>> [music]
- 8:45>> could simply be a modern way of
- 8:47understanding that same phenomenon,
- 8:49a flow of energy generated through
- 8:52breathing and nutrition,
- 8:53>> [music]
- 8:54>> but which, according to these teachings,
- 8:57can be directed by something even more
- 8:59powerful,
- 9:01the mind. That is why when someone
- 9:03learns to cultivate chi,
- 9:05>> [music]
- 9:05>> they are not doing anything
- 9:06supernatural.
- 9:08They are learning to regulate their own
- 9:10system and optimize that internal flow
- 9:13so that the body can function in the
- 9:15most efficient way possible. [music]
- 9:20Energy, understanding of energy
- 9:23is
- 9:23>> [music]
- 9:24>> understanding of body and spirit at one
- 9:28time,
- 9:29same sense.
- 9:30>> [music]
- 9:32>> And understanding energy is
- 9:36is
- 9:38the guide
- 9:40guide [music] for you, the guide
- 9:42of your life
- 9:45including your physical manifestation
- 9:48[music] and spiritual
- 9:50manifestation.
- 9:58If chi is the energy that connects
- 10:00heaven, [music] earth, and the human
- 10:02being,
- 10:03the question becomes clear.
- 10:05>> [music]
- 10:05>> How does it function within us?
- 10:07And how can we improve its quality and
- 10:09flow?
- 10:11The ancient Taoists explained it simply.
- 10:14Everything in the universe moves between
- 10:16two opposite and complementary forces,
- 10:19yin and yang. This ancestral symbol is
- 10:23not just a philosophical idea, it is a
- 10:25map of energy in action. It represents
- 10:28the moment when the original unity
- 10:30divides into two fundamental polarities,
- 10:34positive [music] and negative, and shows
- 10:37how this duality shapes everything
- 10:39[music] that exists, including the human
- 10:42body. The human body is not just matter,
- 10:44[music]
- 10:45it is the visible manifestation of
- 10:46something invisible, energy in motion.
- 10:50It is a living, dynamic system organized
- 10:53around a central axis,
- 10:55>> [music]
- 10:55>> the spine. Along this axis, the Taoists
- 10:58identified three main energy centers
- 11:00[music] known as dantian or fields of
- 11:04the elixir,
- 11:05the upper, [music] the middle, and the
- 11:07lower.
- 11:09The upper and lower centers [music] form
- 11:11a fundamental polarity within the body.
- 11:14The upper dantian, located in the head,
- 11:17is associated with consciousness,
- 11:19>> [music]
- 11:19>> perception, and subtle energy.
- 11:22The lower dantian, located in the
- 11:24abdomen, is considered the center where
- 11:26energy accumulates and is stored.
- 11:29One defines the quality of energy and
- 11:32the other the quantity.
- 11:34And both are connected through the
- 11:35central axis, functioning as a single
- 11:38integrated system. When these centers
- 11:40are in balance, energy flows smoothly.
- 11:43The body responds and the mind
- 11:45stabilizes.
- 11:46>> [music]
- 11:47>> When the balance is broken, however,
- 11:49energy begins to scatter. This is where
- 11:52ancient wisdom meets modern
- 11:54understanding.
- 11:55The body can also be seen as a living
- 11:57electrical system.
- 11:59>> [music]
- 11:59>> Each cell functions like a tiny battery,
- 12:02generating energy from oxygen, from
- 12:04food, and from the way we breathe. The
- 12:06body is in constant renewal.
- 12:09>> [music]
- 12:09>> Millions of cells die and are born every
- 12:12day.
- 12:13The quality of this process depends
- 12:15largely on the energy available and how
- 12:17it circulates within us.
- 12:19This is not an abstract concept. It is
- 12:22part of everyday life.
- 12:27Internal medicine.
- 12:29Since ancient times, Eastern traditions,
- 12:32Taoism, Buddhism, and Hinduism have
- 12:35conceived the body as a sacred
- 12:37laboratory.
- 12:38A microcosm that reflects the universe.
- 12:41While the West considers consciousness a
- 12:43byproduct of matter, the East teaches
- 12:46the opposite.
- 12:47>> [music]
- 12:47>> Consciousness shapes form within us.
- 12:50Every thought and emotion has a direct
- 12:52effect on the flow of internal energy.
- 12:55Fear, tension, or anger block chi.
- 12:59Calm, gratitude, and love restore it.
- 13:02Our consciousness acts as a quantum
- 13:04observer,
- 13:05>> [music]
- 13:05>> collapsing infinite possibilities into
- 13:08the concrete experience toward which we
- 13:10direct our attention.
- 13:12Therefore, training the mind is also
- 13:14training energy.
- 13:16Each [music] deep breath, each focused
- 13:19thought, each conscious act becomes a
- 13:22form of internal alchemy,
- 13:25a refinement in which the dense
- 13:27transforms into the subtle and the
- 13:29material into the spiritual. [music]
- 13:32Science calls it coherence.
- 13:35Taoism calls it harmony.
- 13:37>> [music]
- 13:37>> And in both cases, the result is the
- 13:40same.
- 13:42When energy flows freely,
- 13:44>> [music]
- 13:44>> the body heals, the mind clears,
- 13:48and the spirit rises.
- 13:51The human body is a reflection of the
- 13:52spirit, a node of individual
- 13:55consciousness that manifests in the
- 13:57dense planes of reality.
- 14:00Our essence descends from subtler
- 14:02levels, such as the planes of light or
- 14:04the astral,
- 14:06until it materializes in physical
- 14:08matter.
- 14:09Thus, the body is a projection of
- 14:11consciousness,
- 14:12a visible expression of energy vibrating
- 14:15at higher levels.
- 14:17This implies that many times illness is
- 14:20nothing more than a blockage in the
- 14:22subtle body,
- 14:23an interruption in the energetic flow
- 14:26that over time densifies until it
- 14:28manifests [music] physically.
- 14:30True healing begins at the energetic
- 14:33level.
- 14:34By releasing blockages, chi flows again,
- 14:37and the body responds by regaining its
- 14:39natural balance.
- 14:41The flow of energy between the dantian
- 14:43constitutes the heart of Taoist internal
- 14:46alchemy, neidan.
- 14:49When sufficient heat is generated in the
- 14:51lower dantian as a result of the
- 14:53interaction between the fire of the
- 14:55heart and the water of the kidneys,
- 14:58vital essence, jing,
- 14:59>> [music]
- 15:00>> transforms into chi energy.
- 15:03This energy rises to the middle dantian,
- 15:06where it merges with shen, and finally
- 15:09reaches the upper dantian,
- 15:11>> [music]
- 15:11>> becoming light or spiritual energy.
- 15:14The goal of Qigong and internal alchemy
- 15:17is to develop this process,
- 15:20to enhance energy within the body,
- 15:22increase the circulation of chi, and
- 15:25achieve harmony between body, mind, and
- 15:28[music] spirit.
- 15:29The health and vitality of the
- 15:31individual depend on the quantity and
- 15:34quality of energy present in these
- 15:36[music] three dan tien. Furthermore,
- 15:38these energy centers correspond to the
- 15:40chakras of Hinduism, and the process of
- 15:42raising and transmuting energy is
- 15:45reminiscent of the ascent of Kundalini
- 15:47in the Hindu tradition, where vital
- 15:49energy is purified and elevated toward
- 15:52higher consciousness.
- 15:53This is where one of the most powerful
- 15:55[music] and accessible tools appears,
- 15:58breathing.
- 16:00Breathing is not merely taking in air.
- 16:03It is a way to influence the flow of
- 16:05energy and learn to guide it
- 16:06consciously.
- 16:08Anyone can practice this through
- 16:09specific breathing techniques.
- 16:12Energy blockages [music] can be removed,
- 16:14energy flow can be strengthened, and
- 16:16even deeper states of consciousness
- 16:17[music] can be accessed.
- 16:20If the body functions like an electrical
- 16:21system, most of us operate with the
- 16:24battery at minimum. Not because energy
- 16:26is lacking, in fact, we are surrounded
- 16:29[music] by it, but because we have never
- 16:31learned to generate it, store it, and
- 16:34make it circulate consciously.
- 16:36When some [music] masters like John
- 16:38Chang seemed to demonstrate something
- 16:40extraordinary, in reality, what they had
- 16:43developed was a deep understanding of
- 16:45this internal system and the ability to
- 16:47regulate it at will.
- 16:50In [music] this line, the work of Yang
- 16:52and
- 16:54[music] promoter of Chinese internal
- 16:56arts for decades, describes this process
- 16:59as a progressive path, a kind of
- 17:01internal engineering that transforms the
- 17:04way energy is organized within the body.
- 17:06[music]
- 17:06Everything begins with the breath, not a
- 17:09superficial or automatic breath,
- 17:12but a conscious, deep, [music] and
- 17:14subtle process.
- 17:16In Daoist traditions, there is mention
- 17:18of what is called embryonic [music]
- 17:19breathing,
- 17:21a state in which the breath becomes so
- 17:22fine that it is barely perceived, as if
- 17:26the body were breathing by itself,
- 17:28returning to its embryonic origin.
- 17:31As the mind descends toward the abdomen
- 17:34and attention stabilizes in the lower
- 17:36Dantian,
- 17:37energy stops dispersing
- 17:39>> [music]
- 17:39>> and begins to accumulate.
- 17:42It is a process of gathering, of
- 17:44returning to the center [music]
- 17:46where mind and body gradually unify,
- 17:49which in these traditions is described
- 17:51as the integration of spirit with
- 17:53energy,
- 17:54shen and chi.
- 17:56When this foundation is consolidated,
- 17:59energy begins to move naturally,
- 18:02giving rise to what is known as the
- 18:03microcosmic orbit.
- 18:06The ancients described this phenomenon
- 18:08as an internal circuit that runs along
- 18:10the central axis of the body, ascending
- 18:13through the spine and descending along
- 18:15the front.
- 18:17It should not be understood as a simple
- 18:19visualization,
- 18:20but as a flow that awakens as the system
- 18:23regulates itself.
- 18:25Through this circulation, blockages
- 18:27begin to release and the body regains
- 18:30greater internal coherence.
- 18:33Over time, this movement expands and
- 18:35evolves into what is called the
- 18:37macrocosmic orbit.
- 18:39Energy stops concentrating only on the
- 18:42central axis
- 18:43>> [music]
- 18:43>> and begins to extend toward the
- 18:45extremities, reaching the hands, feet,
- 18:48and deeper tissues,
- 18:49>> [music]
- 18:50>> and ultimately fusing with nature and
- 18:52the totality.
- 18:54At this point, the body is no longer
- 18:56perceived as something isolated, but
- 18:58consciousness expands beyond ordinary
- 19:01physical and mental limits, with the
- 19:03attainment of enlightenment as the
- 19:05ultimate goal.
- 19:07Now,
- 19:08this entire process does not occur
- 19:10immediately.
- 19:12These practices develop progressively,
- 19:14and what you are seeing here is a very
- 19:16general and simplified view, designed so
- 19:18that you can begin to perceive something
- 19:20from the very first moment.
- 19:23If you wish, you can try it now.
- 19:26Step one, embryonic breathing.
- 19:30Sit with your back straight.
- 19:32Relax the body and gently place your
- 19:34tongue on the palate, closing the upper
- 19:37energetic circuit.
- 19:39Close your eyes and bring your attention
- 19:41inward.
- 19:43Begin by directing your attention to the
- 19:45abdomen, a few centimeters below the
- 19:47navel, in the area of the lower dan
- 19:49tien.
- 19:51Breathe slowly, softly, and silently,
- 19:54[music]
- 19:54without forcing the rhythm.
- 19:57Allow the mind to descend and settle
- 19:59there,
- 20:00as if all your attention were gathered
- 20:02at that point.
- 20:04If you wish, you can also maintain a
- 20:06slight awareness in the center of the
- 20:08head, allowing that upper attention to
- 20:10gradually descend and unify with the
- 20:13sensation in the abdomen.
- 20:15>> [music]
- 20:15>> It is a natural, effortless process in
- 20:18which the mind and energy begin to
- 20:20align.
- 20:22>> [music]
- 20:22>> As the breath becomes more stable,
- 20:24something that may require more or less
- 20:27time, depending on your internal state
- 20:29and practice,
- 20:30you can gently begin to introduce the
- 20:32idea of the microcosmic orbit.
- 20:36Step two,
- 20:37microcosmic orbit.
- 20:40During inhalation, allow the sensation
- 20:43to descend toward the base of the torso,
- 20:46toward the perineum.
- 20:48During exhalation,
- 20:49>> [music]
- 20:50>> let that energy ascend along the spine,
- 20:53following the path of the governor
- 20:54vessel, du mai, to the top of the head.
- 20:58From [music] there, naturally allow it
- 20:59to descend along the front of the body,
- 21:02through the conception vessel, ren mai,
- 21:05returning once again to the abdomen.
- 21:08it is not about forcing the path, but
- 21:10suggesting it with attention,
- 21:12as if following a smooth, continuous,
- 21:14[music] almost electrical flow.
- 21:18Step three, macrocosmic orbit.
- 21:22Before moving the energy throughout the
- 21:23entire body, make sure the flow in your
- 21:26internal orbit is continuous. [music]
- 21:28If you already feel the energy
- 21:30circulating along the central axis, from
- 21:32the abdomen up the spine to the crown,
- 21:35and back down the front, you can begin
- 21:37the next movement.
- 21:39With each exhalation, allow the
- 21:41sensation of warmth, vibration, or key
- 21:45to extend gently from the abdomen toward
- 21:47the hands [music]
- 21:48and the soles of the feet.
- 21:50Feel how it moves toward the center of
- 21:52the palms.
- 21:54Feel how it descends to the soles of the
- 21:56feet.
- 21:57This is a first [music] step in
- 21:58expanding energy into the 12 main
- 22:00meridians of the body, beyond the
- 22:02central channels,
- 22:03>> [music]
- 22:04>> contributing to balancing and vitalizing
- 22:06the entire energetic system.
- 22:08Once the energy becomes more palpable,
- 22:10allow this sensation to move more
- 22:12broadly up and down along the meridians
- 22:15of the arms and legs, toward the
- 22:17extremities of the hands and feet, as if
- 22:20all the body's energy pathways were
- 22:22being irrigated by a continuous current.
- 22:25Do not try to force or visualize with
- 22:28too much intensity.
- 22:30The key is to accompany the sensation
- 22:32with relaxed breathing and attention, as
- 22:35if following the natural movement of the
- 22:37energy.
- 22:38Practicing these kinds of energetic
- 22:40exercises together with meditation in a
- 22:42conscious and consistent way allows
- 22:45energy to expand beyond the central axis
- 22:48of the body,
- 22:48>> [music]
- 22:49>> gradually connecting the main channels
- 22:51with the meridians of the arms and legs.
- 22:54This allows key to flow more completely,
- 22:57bringing balance to both body and mind.
- 22:59[music]
- 23:00Many practitioners report feeling more
- 23:02energized, vital, and awake, as if their
- 23:05body were more alive.
- 23:08They also begin to notice a deeper
- 23:10connection with their spirit,
- 23:11>> [music]
- 23:11>> a sense of inner harmony, and a growing
- 23:14attunement with their own energy. Over
- 23:16time, these practices can help regulate
- 23:18the nervous system,
- 23:19>> [music]
- 23:20>> promoting calm, emotional stability, and
- 23:23mental clarity.
- 23:25In the end, everything rests on a very
- 23:27simple principle.
- 23:29The mind guides the energy.
- 23:32And wherever attention is directed, the
- 23:34flow begins to establish itself.
- 23:37This is only the beginning, but it is
- 23:40enough to start directly experiencing
- 23:42how this internal system begins to
- 23:44awaken.
- 23:45That's all for today's video.
- 23:47Thank you very much for watching until
- 23:49the end.
- 23:50See you soon.
