How to Actually Win as Killer in Forsaken — Transcript

- 0:00So you want to get better at killer,
- 0:01then listen closely. You started the
- 0:03chase with more stamina but still
- 0:06couldn't catch the survivor, then you
- 0:08might need to learn about pathing. Good
- 0:10pathing looks like this
- 0:13and bad pathing looks like this. Pathing
- 0:16is basically how you move and choose
- 0:18your route while chasing survivors.
- 0:21To have good pathing, you need to take
- 0:23corners as tightly as possible and run
- 0:25in a straight line toward your target.
- 0:27Don't drift around corners or randomly
- 0:29move side to side. Just move clean and
- 0:32direct.
- 0:33You can also try to predict where the
- 0:35survivor is going to run. If you know
- 0:37their next route, cut them off and start
- 0:40moving in that direction.
- 0:42During a chase, you also need to watch
- 0:44your stamina. This is called stamina
- 0:46management. First, you want to start the
- 0:49chase as close as possible and with as
- 0:51much stamina as possible. You can do
- 0:54this by recovering stamina while you are
- 0:57getting close to the survivor and only
- 1:00fully chasing when they start running.
- 1:03If the survivor reaches a loop spot or a
- 1:06place where they can't leave without
- 1:08crossing you, you can stop for a moment,
- 1:11fully recover your stamina, and start
- 1:13the chase again.
- 1:15This is called a chase reset. You do
- 1:18this because if you keep chasing while
- 1:19you have less stamina than the survivor,
- 1:22you might never catch them.
- 1:24Chase resets are also useful if you had
- 1:26bad pathing and ended up in a stamina
- 1:28disadvantage.
- 1:30Also, never let your stamina hit zero.
- 1:33You'll get punished and lose a lot of
- 1:35distance. You can recover stamina when
- 1:38there is a small object between you and
- 1:40the survivor. If they keep running, you
- 1:43already recovered some stamina.
- 1:45If they stop, too, you can fully recover
- 1:48and reset the chase. Ability usage might
- 1:51be a little hard to understand, but I'll
- 1:54explain it as simply as possible. Most
- 1:56killer abilities are made to stop
- 1:58survivors from looping you or to punish
- 2:01them when they make a mistake. So,
- 2:03whenever you use an ability, you need to
- 2:06understand why you are using [music] it
- 2:08and what value it gives you.
- 2:11This value can be something like a
- 2:12stamina advantage or forcing a survivor
- 2:15to leave a certain spot. Don't use an
- 2:18ability if you're not sure it's needed
- 2:19right now, especially if missing it has
- 2:22a big risk.
- 2:23For example, Cool Kids Walk Speed
- 2:26Override lets you cover a lot of
- 2:28distance in a few seconds
- 2:30>> [music]
- 2:30>> while recovering stamina.
- 2:32If it hits, it also deals a lot of
- 2:34damage. You can use it to quickly close
- 2:37distance at the start or middle [music]
- 2:39of a chase,
- 2:41punish a survivor for making a mistake,
- 2:43or sometimes deal damage if the survivor
- 2:46has low stamina or is stuck in a tight
- 2:49space.
- 2:50But, if you miss it at the wrong time,
- 2:52you can completely lose the chase. So,
- 2:55don't just throw it out randomly. Also,
- 2:58read every killer's passive and active
- 3:00ability descriptions. Some details are
- 3:03easy to miss. For example, did you know
- 3:06[music] 1 X's Entanglement pulls
- 3:08survivors harder if they have the
- 3:09glitched effect?
- 3:11Or that survivors drop more orbs [music]
- 3:15while running with the hemorrhage
- 3:17effect? Some killer abilities can help
- 3:19you start a chase from a much closer
- 3:21distance. This is important because you
- 3:24don't have to waste as much stamina just
- 3:26to reach the survivor, which gives you a
- 3:28much better chance to catch them.
- 3:31For example, Nosferatu can use Ascension
- 3:34to fly above a survivor, cancel the
- 3:36ability, and land right in front of
- 3:38them. His Hunter's Feast can also give
- 3:40him invisibility after hitting a
- 3:42survivor. You can use this to sneak up
- 3:45on survivors before they react. Dash
- 3:48abilities like Walk Speed Override or
- 3:51Void Rush can also give you a head start
- 3:54if you use them to close distance before
- 3:56the real chase begins.
- 3:58Now, let's talk about how to counter
- 4:00[music] survivor looping.
- 4:02To do this, you need to create a
- 4:04situation where continuing the loop
- 4:06becomes uncomfortable or not worth it
- 4:08for the survivor. If you just keep
- 4:10running after them, nothing is really
- 4:12stopping them from looping you.
- 4:15But if you place a wall, summon minions,
- 4:18or gain a stamina advantage, the
- 4:20survivor will be forced [music] to leave
- 4:22the loop. Otherwise, they can just get
- 4:25caught. During a chase, you can use a
- 4:27trick called a double back. When doing
- 4:30this, you make it look like you are
- 4:32going in one direction, but then you
- 4:34turn around and go back, catching the
- 4:36survivor off guard.
- 4:38This works really well around small
- 4:40obstacles, because the survivor has very
- 4:43little time to react to your turn,
- 4:45[music] which gives you a much better
- 4:46chance to catch them. You can also use
- 4:49double backs at [music] loop spots, but
- 4:51you need to be careful, because the
- 4:53survivor might hear your footsteps
- 4:55[music]
- 4:56and start running in the other
- 4:57direction. Also, don't overuse this
- 4:59trick. [music]
- 5:00If you rely on double backs too much and
- 5:03the survivor doesn't fall for it,
- 5:04[music] you can end up losing distance
- 5:06instead of gaining it. Getting stunned
- 5:09by survivors all the time can be
- 5:10annoying, so let's talk about how to
- 5:12play around stuns. You can react to a
- 5:15survivor's windup,
- 5:17but dodging every stun is really hard.
- 5:20Still, you can learn how to avoid them
- 5:22more consistently.
- 5:24Survivors will often try to use a stun
- 5:27when they are low on stamina. So, be
- 5:29extra careful when your target might be
- 5:31running out of stamina.
- 5:33You also need to pay attention to your
- 5:35surroundings. For example, Chance can
- 5:38stun you from far away, so always watch
- 5:41who is nearby and be ready to dodge
- 5:43quickly to the side. Also, be careful
- 5:46around corners when chasing someone
- 5:47[music]
- 5:48because stunning you from around a
- 5:50corner is usually much easier than
- 5:52stunning you in a direct chase. When you
- 5:54attack, survivors can dodge your hits,
- 5:57so don't rush your attacks. Try to react
- 6:00[music] to their movement instead.
- 6:02Usually, dodging is just a sudden turn
- 6:05to one side or a full change of
- 6:07direction, and you need to learn how to
- 6:09catch that. Survivors usually start
- 6:11dodging when the distance between you
- 6:14and them gets very small and they are
- 6:16almost in your attack range. So, this is
- 6:19the moment where you need to be extra
- 6:21careful. Most of the time, you can
- 6:23simply stop moving for a moment when you
- 6:25think the survivor is about to dodge.
- 6:28This way, you don't waste stamina on
- 6:31unnecessary movement and you can catch
- 6:33them almost instantly after they dodge.
- 6:36Sometimes, you might chase one survivor
- 6:39for way too long. This can happen
- 6:41because the survivor is really good or
- 6:43because their team is helping them. If
- 6:46you realize you already wasted too much
- 6:48time on one survivor, for example,
- 6:50around 2 minutes, it's usually better to
- 6:53switch to someone else.
- 6:54A good target can be a support survivor
- 6:57because their help can make it much
- 6:58harder to catch and kill other
- 7:00survivors.
- 7:01Once you get rid of the rest of the
- 7:02team, you can come back to that same
- 7:04player later. Without their team helping
- 7:07them, you will have a much better chance
- 7:09to catch them. Target priority is one of
- 7:11the most important parts of playing
- 7:13killer, if not the most important. It's
- 7:16about choosing who you should chase at
- 7:18the start of the round and [music] who
- 7:20you should focus later. If you always
- 7:22chase whoever is closest to you, you can
- 7:25still win sometimes, but it's not
- 7:27reliable. With bad target priority,
- 7:30killing the whole survivor team can
- 7:32become much harder or almost impossible.
- 7:36But, we'll talk about who to leave for
- 7:39last man standing in the next section
- 7:42because that is also important.
- 7:45When the round starts, you usually want
- 7:47to target support survivors first.
- 7:50Their main job is to help the team by
- 7:52healing, protecting, or making it harder
- 7:55for you to kill other survivors.
- 7:58Builderman is one of the biggest
- 7:59examples. He can heal survivors and also
- 8:02slow you down with his sentry. So, if
- 8:05you see Builderman on the survivor team,
- 8:08you should usually try to target him
- 8:09first. After supports, you have
- 8:11sentinels and survivalists, and this is
- 8:13where it becomes less simple.
- 8:15From my experience, some of the most
- 8:17important sentinels to kill early are
- 8:20Two Time and Guest 1337
- 8:24because they have very strong abilities
- 8:26for stopping the killer and surviving
- 8:29for a long time.
- 8:31For survivalists, Veronica is usually
- 8:34one of the best targets to kill early.
- 8:36If you let her place her graffiti around
- 8:39the map, she can become much harder to
- 8:42kill later unless you break every
- 8:44graffiti [music] first.
- 8:46She also has a healing ability, and she
- 8:49can make chasing her more annoying by
- 8:51switching her skate [music] modes.
- 8:53Most other survivalists usually don't
- 8:56create the same level of threat, so
- 8:58Veronica is often much more important to
- 9:01deal with early. But who should you
- 9:03actually leave for last man standing?
- 9:06First, you need to understand that as
- 9:08killer, you usually don't want to leave
- 9:10survivors who are focused on
- 9:12self-survival or survivors who have
- 9:14strong abilities for staying alive by
- 9:16themselves.
- 9:18This means survivors who are comfortable
- 9:20in a long chase without needing help
- 9:22from their team.
- 9:24For example, Noob is a bad survivor to
- 9:26leave for last man standing because
- 9:29Noob's whole ability kit is built around
- 9:31self-survival.
- 9:32Two Time is also dangerous to leave
- 9:35because Two Time has a stun that can
- 9:37heal on a successful hit. So, who should
- 9:40you leave instead? Usually, you want to
- 9:43leave survivors who can't survive long
- 9:46and consistently in a solo chase.
- 9:48This includes most [music] support
- 9:50survivors because their abilities are
- 9:52more focused on helping the team than
- 9:55surviving alone. A good example is Duece
- 9:58[music] Eck Carr.
- 9:59He can be useful when helping his team,
- 10:02but in a solo chase, he doesn't have
- 10:04strong tools to defend [music] himself
- 10:07from the killer.
- 10:09Some sentinels can also be fine to
- 10:11leave, like Chance.
- 10:13After he uses his shot, he doesn't have
- 10:15another easy way to [music] stun you
- 10:17unless he uses his coin, which gives him
- 10:19weakness and makes him take more damage.
- 10:23So, in general, don't leave survivors
- 10:25who are comfortable in solo chases. Try
- 10:28to kill those survivors earlier and
- 10:30leave someone who is less dangerous by
- 10:32themselves, like a support or [music] a
- 10:34sentinel who can't threaten you as much
- 10:36in last man standing. Of course, target
- 10:39priority always depends on the current
- 10:41round and the survivor team. You don't
- 10:44have to kill every support or every
- 10:45[music] sentinel first. Just look at the
- 10:48situation and decide who is the safest
- 10:50survivor to leave for last man standing.
