8. 0:14obligation under Victorian state law if
9. 0:16you're performing a building electrical
10. 0:18or metal trade in a domestic or
11. 0:20commercial setting it's likely that your
12. 0:23trade is covered under the long service
13. 0:24leavea scheme and you'll have to
14. 0:27register when you've registered with
15. 0:29Leaf Plus you probably want to know more
16. 0:31about how the whole scheme works so
17. 0:34let's go over some of the basics about
18. 0:36your long service leave there are two
19. 0:38separate parts of any worker's record
20. 0:40with leave plus being service and
21. 0:43entitlement to a crw service in Victoria
22. 0:45as a worker you must be performing
23. 0:48construction trade work covered under
24. 0:49the long service sleeve scheme for more
25. 0:51than 5 days per month your employer
26. 0:54reports that service to leave plus and
27. 0:56your service eventually builds towards
28. 0:58gaining an entitlement it's important to
29. 1:00remember that there is no money
30. 1:02associated with your service only the
31. 1:04time that you build up in the industry
32. 1:06it's this time that gives you the weeks
33. 1:08of long service leave entitlement so if
34. 1:10you don't ACR the time you don't gain an
35. 1:14entitlement so let's take a closer look
36. 1:16at how your service is
37. 1:19recorded you need to acrew a minimum of
38. 1:217 years of continuous service to be
39. 1:23eligible for a long service leave
40. 1:26entitlement this service can include up
41. 1:28to the first 4 years of any eligible
42. 1:31construction
43. 1:33apprenticeship as it's portable you can
44. 1:35work with any different amount of
45. 1:37employers between your apprenticeship
46. 1:38and Service as a
47. 1:40worker once you build up seven or more
48. 1:42years of continuous service you'll be
49. 1:45eligible to claim long service leave
50. 1:47with 1.3 weeks of long service leave for
51. 1:49each full year of
52. 1:51service your long service leave will be
53. 1:53payable at the rate of pay from your
54. 1:55most recent recorded service from there
55. 1:58your entitlement will be AA available
56. 2:00for you to claim whenever you like it
57. 2:02will never cancel or lapse and you'll be
58. 2:04able to build up on top of your existing
59. 2:06entitlement the more service you acrew
60. 2:08your recorded service can even contain
61. 2:11braks as long as they're for no more
62. 2:12than 4 years at a
63. 2:14time there can be breaks of 1 2 or 3
64. 2:18years even up to 3 years and 51 weeks as
65. 2:22long as any breaks between service are
66. 2:24less than 4 years then the service
67. 2:26you've aced will be counted together as
68. 2:28one continuous block
69. 2:30however if the break between service
70. 2:32extends to four or more years your
71. 2:34previous service will become inactive
72. 2:36and you will have to start a crewing
73. 2:38service again from
74. 2:39zero but remember Interstate service
75. 2:42also counts towards your total service
76. 2:44in the industry just provide leave plus
77. 2:47with a statement of service from one of
78. 2:48our Interstate partners and you will be
79. 2:51able to use all of your service together
80. 2:53when you make a claim as long as there
81. 2:55is no more than 4 years between any
82. 2:57service Australia wide it will act as
83. 2:59one continuous block of service the rate
84. 3:02of pay for your Interstate service will
85. 3:04be determined by the state scheme where
86. 3:06that service was ACR and your Leaf plus
87. 3:08component will be payable at the rate of
88. 3:10pay from your most recent recorded
89. 3:12service in Victoria the easiest way to
