How I Replaced 5 Design Tools with One! (Rayon Design) — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00I used to juggle five different tools
- 0:01just to get one project out of the door.
- 0:03AutoCAD for architectural drawings,
- 0:05Adobe for visualizing, Google Slides for
- 0:08presentations, Chat GPT for inspiration,
- 0:10and Excel for data. Here's how one
- 0:13platform made me rethink my entire
- 0:15design workflow. Let me know if this
- 0:17sounds familiar. As an architect or an
- 0:19interior designer, my workflow used to
- 0:21be all over the place. One day I'd be
- 0:24drafting an AutoCAD, then jumping to
- 0:26Photoshop to mock up visuals, exporting
- 0:28to Google Slides or Canva for the client
- 0:30deck, and then tracking areas and
- 0:31quantities in Excel on the side. It
- 0:34worked, but it was chaotic. Constant
- 0:36exporting, reformatting, re-uploading.
- 0:39Every update meant redoing something
- 0:41somewhere else. I was burning hours and
- 0:43my budget just keeping up with my own
- 0:45tools. So, I decided to fix it to cut
- 0:48the clutter and design smarter. I tried
- 0:50Rayon design and honestly it replaced
- 0:52everything that I've used before. In
- 0:54this video, I'm going to show you
- 0:55exactly how Rayon replaces each one of
- 0:58these tools and in a few cases how it
- 1:00actually does the job better. Create a
- 1:02free Rayon account using the link in the
- 1:04description and see what I'm talking
- 1:05about. Now, let's jump in. [music]
- 1:11Let's start with the big one, AutoCAD.
- 1:13For me, the three hardest pain points
- 1:15were version control, file [music]
- 1:17sharing, and collaborating. and the
- 1:19complexity and lag. And there's one more
- 1:22big one, and I'll get to that in a
- 1:23moment. If you're an AutoCAD user, you
- 1:26know what those endless project folders
- 1:27look like. Dozens of versions, confusing
- 1:30file names, and teammates all working on
- 1:32slightly different copies, making
- 1:34changes impossible to track. That's
- 1:36where Rayon changes everything because
- 1:37it's completely web- based. You're
- 1:39always working from one single live
- 1:42synced model. You're one source of
- 1:44truth. You and your teammates can work
- 1:46together in real time. and every change
- 1:48is synced instantly in the cloud. And
- 1:51yes, Rayon still tracks version history,
- 1:53but without the chaos of duplicate files
- 1:55and outdated drawings floating around.
- 1:57And then there's file sharing. If you've
- 1:59ever tried emailing CAD files back and
- 2:01forth, you've probably heard the
- 2:02classic, I can't open this from a
- 2:04teammate or a consultant, I've wasted
- 2:06countless hours dealing with that.
- 2:08Exporting, reexporting, fixing versions.
- 2:11It's endless. With Rayon, sharing is as
- 2:14simple as sending a link. [music] That's
- 2:15it. You can invite others as a model
- 2:18editor or just viewers letting everyone
- 2:20in, your team, consultants, even clients
- 2:23if you want to altogether in real time
- 2:25on the same always upto-date file. And
- 2:28finally, let's talk about complexity and
- 2:30lag. AutoCAD is powerful, but it's also
- 2:33heavy. It takes ages to load, requires
- 2:35constant license management, and just
- 2:37feels dated. If you've ever tried to
- 2:39apply a hatch onto a surface in AutoCAD,
- 2:41you know that panic moment of wondering,
- 2:43will it crash? Rayon, on the other hand,
- 2:45runs entirely in your browser. No
- 2:47installs, no updates, no massive files
- 2:50clogging up your desktop. The tools are
- 2:52smart, intuitive, and honestly just so
- 2:54much smoother to use. It's a effortless
- 2:57CAD software, unlike AutoCAD. [music]
- 2:58Oh, and by the way, even has built-in
- 3:00CAD block library instead of you having
- 3:02to search for your own blocks. The next
- 3:04big AutoCAD pain point leads right into
- 3:06how Rayon replaced Photoshop,
- 3:09Illustrator, and even Canva. For me,
- 3:11AutoCAD lets you draft, but not design.
- 3:13No colors, no materials, no real visual
- 3:16feel. Rayon changes that completely.
- 3:19Now, don't get me wrong, I've got a lot
- 3:20of respect for Canva and Adobe, but the
- 3:22truth is that these tools weren't built
- 3:24for architects or interior designers,
- 3:26and that's the real pain point. There's
- 3:28no direct connection between them and
- 3:30your drawing software. So, for drawing
- 3:32and visualizing, you're constantly
- 3:34exporting and reimpporting files between
- 3:37tools, and every time you update your
- 3:38drawing, you're going to have to restyle
- 3:40it and rerender it all over again. In
- 3:42Rayon, your workflow becomes seamless.
- 3:44You can import technical files like DWGs
- 3:47or PDFs, draft and redesign directly
- 3:49inside your platform, and then even
- 3:51style the project, adding materials,
- 3:53shadows, fonts, and mood boards, all in
- 3:56one place. The files you import are
- 3:57automatically vectorized, so it's easy
- 3:59to adjust stroke weights, colors,
- 4:01hatches, and textures. And the best
- 4:03part, everything updates live as you
- 4:06make those changes. You're not just
- 4:07drawing and designing. You're doing both
- 4:10in the same time with a result that's
- 4:12always up to date. Rayon also gives you
- 4:14image editing tools similar to
- 4:15Photoshop. You can crop, remove
- 4:17backgrounds, upscale grainy images, and
- 4:19place them right next to your drawings
- 4:21to get that full 360 [music]
- 4:23view of your design. And I know what
- 4:24you're thinking, and the answer is yes.
- 4:26Rayon even includes built-in AI image
- 4:28generation. But we'll get to that later.
- 4:31So, with Rayon, you can finally merge
- 4:33all your workflows into one seamless
- 4:35design experience. And that's not all.
- 4:38What about when it's time to present
- 4:39your design? Normally that means
- 4:41switching tools again. Well, [music] not
- 4:42with Rayon. After juggling between
- 4:45drawing and design tools, the next
- 4:46hurdle is always presentation. Another
- 4:49tool, another step, and another round of
- 4:51updates. Even the smallest changes in
- 4:53your layout or finishes means that
- 4:55you're going to go back to your design
- 4:56file, tweaking it, exporting, and
- 4:59reimpporting, or even worse, patching
- 5:01over screenshots and mismatch slides. It
- 5:03is a constant loop that breaks your
- 5:05workflow. But with Rayon, that loop
- 5:08disappears. Your drawings, visuals, and
- 5:10layout all live within the connected
- 5:12model. When you update your design, your
- 5:13presentation updates automatically. No
- 5:16exports, no version tracking, no rework.
- 5:19You can add text, images, mood boards,
- 5:21and annotations directly on your canvas.
- 5:24But now everything is part of one single
- 5:27dynamic presentation. And here's the
- 5:29best bit. You can instantly generate a
- 5:31presentation link right inside Rayon. So
- 5:34far, we've seen how Rayon lets you go
- 5:36all the way from drafting to
- 5:37presentation in one tool. But there is
- 5:39another huge part of the design process
- 5:41that usually lives outside of your main
- 5:43workflow. Procurement. Once again,
- 5:45you're drawing in one tool, then manage
- 5:47the project somewhere else. Manually
- 5:50counting items, tracking quantities, and
- 5:52calculating square meters in
- 5:54spreadsheets. It's disconnected and
- 5:56timeconuming. So why not have your
- 5:58software do that work for you? In Rayon,
- 6:00that entire process happens live inside
- 6:03your design. All your project data,
- 6:05areas, item counts, dimensions, they're
- 6:07all linked directly into your drawing
- 6:09themselves. And when you make a change
- 6:11to design, your data updates instantly.
- 6:13You can apply custom properties and
- 6:15create dynamic tables and schedules that
- 6:17pull live quantities straight from your
- 6:19plan. No more exporting, no more
- 6:21reme-measuring, no more version
- 6:23confusion. You can even add live links
- 6:25to items directly in the tables and
- 6:27apply them to your CAD blocks. It's like
- 6:30having Excel built into your design, but
- 6:32smarter, faster, and visually connected
- 6:34to everything that you're working on.
- 6:36So, instead of switching tools, you can
- 6:37go directly from concept to detailed
- 6:40project documentation, all [music] in
- 6:41one place. Now, let's talk about the
- 6:43last tool stack that I replaced, the one
- 6:45that's on everyone's mind right now.
- 6:47Yeah, you guessed it. It's AI. AI has
- 6:50become a big part of every architecture
- 6:52designer's workflow. Whether it's
- 6:53brainstorming ideas or generating
- 6:55visuals with tools like chat GBT, Claude
- 6:58or even Nano Banana. But with Rayon,
- 7:00even that part becomes seamless because
- 7:02AI is built right into the platform. No
- 7:05switching tabs, no exports, just design
- 7:07and ideation in one place. You can
- 7:10generate or edit images directly inside
- 7:12Rayon from mood board visuals and
- 7:14renderings to product shots and iterate
- 7:16on them instantly in the same panel. You
- 7:18can generate vector drawings or CAD
- 7:20blocks straight from images. Turning a
- 7:22simple product photo into a usable plan,
- 7:25side, and elevation view in seconds.
- 7:27Take an inapp screenshot from your 2D
- 7:29section and ask Rayon to generate a 3D
- 7:31axonometric [music] view automatically.
- 7:34Or ask the panel to create variations of
- 7:36your drawing with different materials,
- 7:37finishes, or color [music] options for
- 7:39those quick design alternatives. So
- 7:41instead of bouncing between separate AI
- 7:43tools, Rayon lets you think, design
- 7:45[music] and iterate in one continuous
- 7:47flow. It's not just faster, it's
- 7:49creative momentum without interruptions.
- 7:52[music]
- 7:52That's how I dropped AutoCAD, Photoshop,
- 7:55Google Slides, Excel, and even Chat GPT
- 7:58and moved my entire workflow into Rayon
- 8:00Design, one platform where I can draft,
- 8:03visualize, collaborate, and even use AI
- 8:06all in the same place. I know every
- 8:07designer has got their own favorite
- 8:09tools. What are yours? If there's
- 8:11something you're not sure Rayon could
- 8:12replace, then let us know in the
- 8:13comments, and we'd love to figure it out
- 8:15together. And if you haven't tried it
- 8:17yet, you can start using Rayon for free.
