How I never pay full price for anything + things I refuse to pay full price for | Tips to save money — Transcript

- 0:00My least favorite chore is doing the
- 0:02damn dishes. Okay, so we are going to do
- 0:06the dishes together. I'm going to unload
- 0:08the dishwasher and do the dishes as I
- 0:11talk about the things I never pay full
- 0:14price for. Now, the reason I'm doing
- 0:17this, I'm multitasking, is because this
- 0:19is my least favorite chore. Yeah, y'all
- 0:21pray for me because we all know that as
- 0:23a mom of two and a wife, these two
- 0:27chores, it's inevitable. It never stops.
- 0:30There's no way around this. So, yeah.
- 0:33One of the first things that I refuse to
- 0:36pay full price for is, of course,
- 0:39holiday decoration. Now, here's why I
- 0:42refuse to pay for holiday decoration. If
- 0:45I'm going to buy things for, let's say,
- 0:47Christmas, there's no way in my right
- 0:51mind that I'm going to purchase that in
- 0:53November. Heck no. they're going to
- 0:56double, probably triple the prices for
- 0:59holiday decoration because it's
- 1:01November, a month before the holiday
- 1:04comes around. So, I always tend to get
- 1:06my holiday decor after the holidays. So,
- 1:10for example, right now, I would love to
- 1:13go and get some Halloween decoration,
- 1:15but I'm sorry, it's already too late. I
- 1:18am not going to buy Halloween
- 1:19decorations.
- 1:21No, not right now, girl. because they're
- 1:24going to charge me an arm and a leg for
- 1:25freaking Halloween decorations that I'm
- 1:27going to use for one week. We're not
- 1:29doing that. Mm-
- 1:32Mysterious. I'm not doing that at all.
- 1:35So, we got to wait until November to buy
- 1:38Halloween decorations
- 1:42and then I'll use them next year.
- 1:44Another thing I refuse to pay full price
- 1:47for, restaurant meals. And here's why.
- 1:51Yes, my family and I, we do eat out
- 1:54occasionally.
- 1:56There are some weeks when we do eat out
- 1:57a lot, but that's not something that's
- 2:00consistent. You know what I mean? Cuz I
- 2:02try to live a very frugal, minimalist
- 2:05life. For example, if I know it's my
- 2:08birthday, I'm going to eat out because
- 2:10these restaurants, I don't know if you
- 2:12guys know, but they will give you a
- 2:14discount if it's your birthday. They
- 2:16will even email you and say, "Hey, come
- 2:18pick up a a free cake." because it's
- 2:21your birthday. I think that happened to
- 2:24me with a few restaurants. I think one
- 2:26year I went to Red Lobster and they
- 2:28actually gave me a free dessert. When
- 2:30you go to Starbucks, they'll give you a
- 2:32free beverage. Just go on your birthday
- 2:35and once you have proof of that, they
- 2:38will give it to you for free. So, we use
- 2:41things like that. If it's my husband's
- 2:43birthday or the kids' birthday, we do
- 2:45the same thing and we take advantage of
- 2:48the free meals. We also take advantage
- 2:51of things like happy hour. And there are
- 2:54certain restaurants where we live where
- 2:57they will literally give me like half
- 3:00off because I go at a certain time. So
- 3:03these restaurants, they tend to have
- 3:05days where their traffic is super low.
- 3:09the amount of money they're making on
- 3:11that day is super low. So, they are
- 3:14like, "Okay, come on this day and we'll
- 3:16give you half off." And trust me, honey,
- 3:19I'll be there. I'll be there cuz I want
- 3:23to save. I mean, it's the same food
- 3:24we're getting for half off. So, why not?
- 3:28So, the next thing I refuse to pay full
- 3:31price for is actually gift wraps. So,
- 3:36anything for wrapping gifts or even
- 3:40wrapping paper. Yeah, I refuse to pay
- 3:43full price for that because first of
- 3:44all, if you get gifts, especially during
- 3:47the holiday season, you're probably
- 3:50getting it in a gift bag. So, what I
- 3:53tend to do is I will always try to save
- 3:56whatever gift bag I get. And I also tend
- 4:01to buy neutral gift wraps whenever I'm
- 4:04gifting someone a gift. I'll get a gift
- 4:07bag for Christmas. And I'm going to save
- 4:09that so I can gift it to someone else
- 4:12next year. Now, when it comes on to
- 4:13wrapping a gift, I stop purchasing gift
- 4:18wraps that are for a specific season.
- 4:21So, if I were to buy a gift wrap for
- 4:24Christmas, you're not going to catch me
- 4:26buying a Santa Claus gift wrapping
- 4:29paper, I'm just not going to do it
- 4:31because I cannot use that same paper for
- 4:34Valentine's Day. I cannot use that same
- 4:37paper for a birthday. It's freaking
- 4:40Christmas wrapping paper. So, I just buy
- 4:43a neutral silver or a neutral gold
- 4:45wrapping paper and I'll just use that.
- 4:49So, whatever the occasion is, it
- 4:51actually applies. It's not a lot of
- 4:54money, but these little things, it adds
- 4:56up, y'all. It adds up. The fourth thing
- 4:58I will never pay full price for, if
- 5:01possible, it is subscriptions. Now, if I
- 5:05need a certain subscription, the first
- 5:08thing I try to do is to analyze how much
- 5:11I'll be using that subscription. Like,
- 5:14am I going to be using this every day or
- 5:16at least five times per week? If the
- 5:18answer is yes, then I go ahead and check
- 5:20for an annual plan. Now, with these
- 5:23subscription companies, if you do go
- 5:26ahead and pay for the annual plan
- 5:29instead of paying monthly, they will
- 5:32give you a huge discount. And who
- 5:34doesn't like a good discount? Who
- 5:37doesn't? So yeah, I try to just go with
- 5:42the freaking annual plan if I know for
- 5:45certain that I'll be using that
- 5:47subscription for the entire year. Now,
- 5:50the fifth thing I refuse to pay full
- 5:52price for is books. I love to read to my
- 5:57kids. Like I literally do that every
- 6:00single night or at least most nights.
- 6:03And we change out books a lot because we
- 6:05get bored sometimes. So, why the heck am
- 6:08I going to go buy a new book every
- 6:10single week when I can literally get it
- 6:12to borrow from the library or I will buy
- 6:15a freaking used book? If I purchase a
- 6:18used book, I'm getting a huge discount.
- 6:21And once that book is in good condition,
- 6:24I don't see why I have to buy it brand
- 6:26new. It's just not necessary. And in
- 6:29addition to that, I also use my Kindle a
- 6:32lot. So, I will try to find free books
- 6:35that I like on Amazon Kindle and I'll
- 6:39I'll just read those. Free is better.
- 6:42The sixth thing that I refuse to pay
- 6:44full price for is actually clothing. So,
- 6:49the thing about clothing is that when
- 6:52you go to a store, you will almost
- 6:55always find a clearance section. Make
- 6:59use of that. A lot of the times the
- 7:01clearance section has items that are off
- 7:04season. So what I mean is during
- 7:07December they might have a lot of
- 7:09swimsuits on clearance. During the
- 7:12summer they might have a lot of jackets
- 7:15on clearance. So what I do, I buy my
- 7:18swimsuits during the freaking winter and
- 7:22I buy my coats or my jackets during the
- 7:26summer and I get to save a lot. And I'm
- 7:29talking about 75% off, 70% off. Like
- 7:33ridiculous savings. I'm getting the same
- 7:36great quality item or clothing, but for
- 7:39a bargain. So, think about that the next
- 7:41time you're shopping for clothes. Next
- 7:43thing I refuse to pay full price for is
- 7:47paper towels. Tell me why I'm going to
- 7:50buy a big parcel of paper towel only to
- 7:55wipe my hands or wipe the surface and
- 7:58throw it in the trash. Let me show you
- 7:59what I use instead. If only I can find
- 8:02it with all these dirty dishes. Here it
- 8:05is. So, if my counter gets dirty, I use
- 8:08this little wet washcloth and I just
- 8:11wipe the surface. Sometimes I do add
- 8:13like um multi-purpose cleaners. And if I
- 8:16wash my hands in a kitchen and I need to
- 8:18dry my hands, I'll use this, right? And
- 8:21I just use this to dry the dishes. So
- 8:23technically, everything is reusable.
- 8:26Now, do I use paper towels in my
- 8:29kitchen? Yeah, but if it's not on sale,
- 8:32I'm not buying it. It's just going in
- 8:34the trash. So, for what, sis? For what?
- 8:39Like I said, if it's on sale, I'll stack
- 8:41up. But if not, I'll just use the ones
- 8:45that I can wash, throw it in the wash,
- 8:47and it's good to go again. You don't
- 8:50understand that every piece of paper
- 8:52towel that you rip off and use is going
- 8:56in the trash. To me, I'm seeing dollar
- 8:59signs going into the trash. You're
- 9:02seeing a paper towel, but I'm seeing
- 9:04dollar signs. Okay? And I noticed that
- 9:08whenever I buy paper towels, my husband
- 9:13will literally unravel. I'm talking
- 9:16about 10 sheets just to dry his hands.
- 9:19And I'm like, "Uh uh uh no, honey. We we
- 9:23we're not doing that. We're not doing
- 9:24this, honey. Okay? We got to take off
- 9:27one sheet for hand." And y'all might say
- 9:30I'm stingy, but it's not stingy. It's
- 9:33the fact that when you work hard for
- 9:35your money, you really, really have to
- 9:37be careful about where it goes. And when
- 9:40I say careful, I mean be very picky
- 9:43about everything because every dollar
- 9:45can turn into hundreds in the future if
- 9:48you put it in places where it will work
- 9:50for you. So why am I throwing it in the
- 9:53trash? Now, another thing I refuse to
- 9:56pay full price for is online courses.
- 10:00Now, let me ask you this, and I'm coming
- 10:02up close and personal. As someone who is
- 10:05trying to become a YouTuber, I'm going
- 10:07to say this, and I won't take it back. I
- 10:09will not pay full price for a course.
- 10:12So, if in the future I'm selling you a
- 10:14course, don't buy it, okay? Because
- 10:18everything you want to learn is online.
- 10:21So, I will never buy a course. Like a
- 10:25lot of people sell courses so they can
- 10:27just make the money. And if what you're
- 10:30doing is so great where you need to sell
- 10:32a course for it, that means you should
- 10:34be financially free enough to not have
- 10:37to sell a course. But yeah, I'm not
- 10:39going to sell y'all a course unless it's
- 10:42very specific. That's the only way I'm
- 10:45going to buy a course. So here's an
- 10:47example. Maybe if the course promises
- 10:50that at the end of this course or at the
- 10:52end of this training, you'll have to
- 10:55pass a test and we'll hire you. Like
- 10:58something like that, you know, like a
- 11:00situation where it has like a specific
- 11:03outcome or promise, then I will consider
- 11:06it. But just for information,
- 11:09it's 2026, girl. 2026.
- 11:12Why are we still paying for courses?
- 11:14Everything's online. and we have AI and
- 11:17all that that's able to give us answers
- 11:19in seconds. So, don't buy that course,
- 11:22honey. Unless it has a very specific
- 11:26outcome, specific outcome. Unless
- 11:29there's an actual promise. For example,
- 11:31if you buy this course, I will help you
- 11:34to land a nursing job. Or if you buy
- 11:36this course, I will help you to save
- 11:40$5,000 in 3 months. Something like that.
- 11:43It has to have a specific outcome
- 11:45because if it doesn't have a specific
- 11:48outcome or promise, they're just selling
- 11:50you information that was generated from
- 11:52Chachi BT. So, that's my biggest tip for
- 11:54you. Another thing I refuse to spend or
- 11:58to purchase full price is movie tickets.
- 12:01Like, y'all, come on. If you have a
- 12:04movie theater, always check to see if
- 12:07they have days where it's low traffic.
- 12:11um maybe like a Monday, a Tuesday when
- 12:14everyone's back at work and they're not
- 12:17they're they're not thinking about going
- 12:19to the movies. That's usually when the
- 12:21movie theater close to my home has a
- 12:24sale. So, if I buy uh one ticket, I get
- 12:28another ticket free. So, technically,
- 12:30I'm paying half the price for a movie
- 12:33ticket for me and my spouse. That works
- 12:35out great because we can literally go to
- 12:38the movies every week for half off. So,
- 12:41why not embrace that? Like, we're not
- 12:43looking to pay full price around here.
- 12:46And furthermore, I'm not a big movie
- 12:48person either. Like I do watch movies,
- 12:52yes, but for my ADHD brain, it has to
- 12:56have a lot of thrill or there has to be
- 12:59something very attentiongrabbing
- 13:02that will make me want to consistently
- 13:05just stay there laser focused and watch.
- 13:08If not, I'm going to be zoning out and
- 13:10thinking about what I'm going to eat for
- 13:11dinner in the middle of the movie. So
- 13:14technically, it's almost a waste of
- 13:16money for me already.
- 13:18Another thing I refuse to buy full
- 13:21price, and y'all are going to come at me
- 13:24for this one, but it's flowers. Okay?
- 13:27Like, whenever my husband buys flowers
- 13:30during a specific season, I kind of get
- 13:33mad. And it's weird because most women
- 13:36are usually happy during this time, but
- 13:38I'm angry, sis. Okay? Like, if he buys
- 13:41me flowers during Mother's Day, I'mma be
- 13:44pissed. You should buy that flowers
- 13:46during the off season. Don't mind me.
- 13:48Flowers on Mother's Day. When a bouquet
- 13:50is literally $100, but during the offse
- 13:53time when it's not Mother's Day, that
- 13:55same bouquet is $20. Buy during the off
- 13:58season. And then when Valent when
- 14:00Mother's Day come, buy something else
- 14:02that's more not Mother's Day related, if
- 14:04you know what I mean, cuz they mark up
- 14:07the prices and it's not fair to us as
- 14:10consumers. It's It's really not fair. So
- 14:13yeah, I told him no flowers and if you
- 14:16must give me flowers, you can just go
- 14:20like if he has to gift me flowers or if
- 14:22he feels like he has to gift me flowers
- 14:25during like a holiday time where like
- 14:28Valentine's Day or Mother's Day, go to
- 14:30the freaking grocery store and get cheap
- 14:33flowers, buy multiple, put them
- 14:35together, and you have a nice bouquet in
- 14:38a vase or a vase, however you say it,
- 14:40for 30 bucks. not 150 because those
- 14:44flowers, they're gonna just dry up and
- 14:46die in a week. So, me getting flowers,
- 14:50it's like I'm seeing my money drying up
- 14:53in front of my eyes. So, every time I
- 14:56look at the flowers, instead of feeling
- 14:58happy,
- 15:00I feel angry cuz that's my money drying
- 15:02up in front of my eyes. Make sense? So,
- 15:05yeah. And don't get me wrong, I love
- 15:07flowers. Like my daughter's um middle
- 15:10name, her middle name is rose. So I
- 15:12really love roses. I love flowers and I
- 15:17always appreciate it when I get it. But
- 15:19just don't buy it during a certain time
- 15:23if you know the price is five times what
- 15:26it really is worth. Yeah. So those are
- 15:29the things that I refuse to purchase
- 15:33full price. Um, I'm always trying to get
- 15:36a good deal as y'all know. So, yeah.
- 15:39What are some of the things that you
- 15:40refuse to pay full price for? Let me
- 15:44know in the comment section. And if you
- 15:46like videos like these, go ahead and
- 15:48give it at least 400 likes. Or am I
- 15:52pushing it? We'll see. But if I get 400
- 15:55likes, I'll make a part two of this
- 15:58video. Thank you so much for watching,
- 16:00and I'll see you next time.
