How I Make Art with Invisible Ink — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00This is all you need to make your own
- 0:01invisible ink. Of course, I am holding
- 0:03turmeric and hand sanitizer back here
- 0:06cuz it's a three-ingredient invisible
- 0:08ink, but it's still super easy. We're
- 0:10also going to film a short-form piece of
- 0:12content at the same time so you can get
- 0:13a little behind the scenes while also
- 0:15making your own invisible ink.
- 0:17I'll just line all this up for a shot.
- 0:19This overhead lighting can help a
- 0:23cost them all into the frame. Next step,
- 0:26you actually have to boil water and
- 0:28combine water and baking soda in a
- 0:29little jar or something.
- 0:32Got boiling water. You don't need
- 0:33boiling water, you need just hot water.
- 0:36We'll set like that. We'll just slide it
- 0:37in the frame.
- 0:42Next, we're going to pour a generous
- 0:43amount of the baking soda and we'll mix
- 0:45it with something metal, not with your
- 0:47paint brushes cuz you don't want to
- 0:49wreck your paint brushes with the heat
- 0:50of the water.
- 0:52Water, baking soda, mix.
- 1:03To ensure there was enough invisible
- 1:05ink, I made sure to make an extra batch.
- 1:08You may have noticed I'm wearing a
- 1:09splint. This is because I broke my thumb
- 1:11while skateboarding. As an artist, your
- 1:13hands are essential, so I'm sure you'll
- 1:14do a better job painting with invisible
- 1:16ink than I did. As you may expect,
- 1:18because the ink is invisible, if you
- 1:19don't have any pencil sketch your
- 1:20thumbnail, it can be really hard to see
- 1:22what you're drawing.
- 1:23going to do the next filming bit.
- 1:25In order to see your invisible ink come
- 1:27to life, mix together turmeric and hand
- 1:29sanitizer. The hand sanitizer turns the
- 1:31turmeric into paint. There's a chemical
- 1:33in turmeric called curcumin in its
- 1:35natural or acidic state, it stays
- 1:36yellow. The second curcumin touches
- 1:38something basic, it will turn red really
- 1:40quick.
- 1:40it down. This part won't be filmed for
- 1:42the video. It'll just be locked in
- 1:44place, so that way when you add a bunch
- 1:47of ink to the page, it doesn't warp.
- 1:59This is where I hype myself up for the
- 2:01most important sort of reveal shot of
- 2:03the turmeric across the baking soda
- 2:06invisible ink.
- 2:19Everywhere you drew with invisible ink
- 2:21will now turn red as you paint with
- 2:23turmeric. Even if it's just a drop of
- 2:25baking soda, it will turn red with the
- 2:27turmeric.
- 2:43Let's go.
- 2:49Now to take all those clips and edit it
- 2:51into a short form piece of content. You
- 2:53know we got to add a voice over.
- 2:56Invisible ink to pass messages like a
- 2:58spy.
- 2:59To pass messages like a spy. All you
- 3:01need is baking soda.
- 3:02Girlfriend's going to take a peek
- 3:04at what I just made. Here we go.
- 3:08Invisible ink to pass messages like a
- 3:10spy. All you need is baking soda,
- 3:12turmeric, and hand sanitizer. Put some
- 3:14hot water and baking soda together. Then
- 3:16go ahead and paint with your invisible
- 3:17ink. This is where you encode your
- 3:19secret message. To make the decoder,
- 3:21turmeric and hand sanitizer.
- 3:23Hey, you should save this video in case
- 3:25you ever need
- 3:27invisible
- 3:27nice.
- 3:29How do you like it?
- 3:31I do like it.
- 3:32You like it?
- 3:33This is all you need to make your own
- 3:35invisible ink.
