  1. 0:00You know, at first it may seem strange
  2. 0:02that you can only get Minecraft Bedrock
  3. 0:05on a Windows computer. That is until you
  4. 0:07realize that Minecraft is owned by
  5. 0:09Microsoft and of course they're going to
  6. 0:11lock it into their own operating system.
  7. 0:13That's why it's lucky for Linux users
  8. 0:15that this exists.
  9. 0:18MCP Launcher. This project, kind of like
  10. 0:21the project I made a video on
  11. 0:22previously, which allowed you to
  12. 0:24download both Roblox Player and Studio
  13. 0:26on Linux, allows you to download
  14. 0:29Minecraft Bedrock on Linux. So, let's
  15. 0:32get started. Now, I should probably tell
  16. 0:34you how this actually works first. This
  17. 0:37basically just downloads the Android app
  18. 0:39and lets you use that. Meaning, if you
  19. 0:43haven't bought the Android app, you
  20. 0:45won't be able to do this. Now, luckily
  21. 0:47Minecraft on Android isn't that
  22. 0:49expensive. I think it's around $8 if you
  23. 0:52don't have it already. If you haven't
  24. 0:54already set up Flatpack, which I will
  25. 0:56link in the description to find out how
  26. 0:58to install it for your DRO. I'm on
  27. 1:00Abuntu and for the purposes of this
  28. 1:02tutorial, I'll just assume that you're
  29. 1:04on a DBNbased DRO as well. So, I'll open
  30. 1:06my terminal and if I didn't already have
  31. 1:09flatp pack installed, I'd do pseudoapp
  32. 1:12install flatpack and obviously I'd say
  33. 1:14yes when it prompted me to and it'd be
  34. 1:16installed. Simple. When we have flatp
  35. 1:19pack installed, execute this command.
  36. 1:23Now, we're done. All we have to do now
  37. 1:25is this command.
  38. 1:30Now, here this has opened this window.
  39. 1:32Just press continue here and sign in
  40. 1:34with your Google account. Obviously,
  41. 1:36this goes without saying, but make sure
  42. 1:37it's the Google account that you
  43. 1:39actually own Minecraft on. This is
  44. 1:41optional, but you can provide a password
  45. 1:43to open the launcher and protect your
  46. 1:45Google credentials if you want. I'm not
  47. 1:47going to bother, and I'm just going to
  48. 1:49save and complete login.
  49. 1:52Now, from here, this pretty much works
  50. 1:54how you'd expect if you're familiar with
  51. 1:57Java Edition Launcher. And the cool
  52. 2:00thing about this as well is that you can
  53. 2:02download different versions. I'm just
  54. 2:04going to stick with the latest version
  55. 2:06for now though and then download and
  56. 2:08play. While that's downloading, it
  57. 2:10should be worth mentioning that while
  58. 2:11you can run that command to run this
  59. 2:13every time you want to play Minecraft,
  60. 2:15you don't have to do that. For me, cuz
  61. 2:17I'm on Abuntu, I can just search for
  62. 2:19apps search of Minecraft and it's this
  63. 2:22Minecraft bedrock here. Ignore that.
  64. 2:24That's from something different. If it
  65. 2:26doesn't show up on your start menu,
  66. 2:28restart your computer and then it should
  67. 2:30do obviously. Now I can sign in with a
  68. 2:32Microsoft account, which I will do
  69. 2:34because I want to access multiplayer.
  70. 2:36Now I have full access to Minecraft
  71. 2:38Bedrock Edition on Linux. Don't worry
  72. 2:40about this. This is just something that
  73. 2:42will come up because you're not actually
  74. 2:44on Android, but it thinks you are. I
  75. 2:46want to make sure that I can use
  76. 2:47multiplayer because it allows me to join
  77. 2:50my server. Being able to join my server
  78. 2:52for me is quite important. Especially
  79. 2:55joining my test servers and servers that
  80. 2:57I'm testing out plugins that I make on
  81. 2:59because my server is crossplay. I have
  82. 3:02to use Bedrock accounts to test my
  83. 3:04server and different plugins quite a
  84. 3:06lot. So before I'd have to just use my
  85. 3:08phone or even worse sometimes switch to
  86. 3:11Windows which are both kind of time
  87. 3:14consuming. If you're a plug-in dev like
  88. 3:16I am, hopefully this will save you some
  89. 3:18time. And funnily enough, I also know
  90. 3:20another time-saving technique for
  91. 3:22plug-in devs.
