How I'd Make $100K in 90 Days From Scratch — Transcript
Full transcript
- 0:00Now, if you had to go from zero to
- 0:02$100,000 in the next 3 months,
- 0:05how would you do it? Maybe if you could
- 0:07break it down for me in
- 0:09five steps.
- 0:10>> Sure.
- 0:11Um
- 0:14So, 100,000 total or 100,000 a month or
- 0:1610,000 a month?
- 0:17>> 100,000 total
- 0:19in 3 months. Uh
- 0:21no employees, just you.
- 0:23>> It's not me though, right?
- 0:25It's my skills, but not me.
- 0:27>> Yeah.
- 0:28>> Okay.
- 0:28>> [laughter]
- 0:29>> That makes sense.
- 0:31Right. And I don't have And I have And I
- 0:32have no network and I have no
- 0:33connections and I have no any of that.
- 0:35I'm I don't have my phone with me.
- 0:37>> You can use Claude.
- 0:38>> [laughter]
- 0:39>> Um
- 0:41I I
- 0:43So, when you were starting out, you want
- 0:45every customer to be worth it.
- 0:47And so, I think one of the mistakes that
- 0:49happens when people are earlier is they
- 0:52don't sell expensive enough stuff.
- 0:55And so, like if it's very hard for you
- 0:57to get a customer, then you better make
- 0:59sure that customer's worth it. Which
- 1:01means instead of thinking about
- 1:02scale-ability, we think about how
- 1:06basically
- 1:07potential money made from every person
- 1:09is what you want to maximize. And so,
- 1:11that means that potential value created
- 1:13has to be maximized, which means that we
- 1:14might do unscalable things in the short
- 1:16term in order to generate cash flow. And
- 1:17so, I'll give you an analogy and then
- 1:19I'll give you the steps, but
- 1:20um or not an analogy, a story, but when
- 1:22I when I started my first gym,
- 1:24I did personal training uh with one
- 1:26client. And that client came 90 minutes
- 1:28a day, five days a week, which is a
- 1:29super like a super client.
- 1:32And I ended up making I think it was
- 1:33like four or five thousand dollars a
- 1:34month in total from that one client. And
- 1:37that client and that model of me just
- 1:40doing one-on-one like that obviously
- 1:41doesn't scale. But, I was running my
- 1:43gym, the business all around that. And
- 1:45the gym, I would just take the cash and
- 1:47basically reinvest in more equipment or
- 1:48I'd or I'd spend more on ads to get more
- 1:50people in, whatever it was. But, like I
- 1:52lived on the $5,000 a month that I was
- 1:54getting
- 1:55uh from the personal training client.
- 1:57And so,
- 1:58the fastest way to get to $100,000 is
- 2:00not the fastest way to get to a million
- 2:02or 10 million. And so, this is the big
- 2:03misconception with the question. And so,
- 2:05like
- 2:06if I wanted to get to $100,000, I would
- 2:09go to a business and say and the thing
- 2:11is is like I have already done this cuz
- 2:12I've already lost my money before and
- 2:14had to go do this. So, I this is what I
- 2:15did. I went to a local business and I
- 2:18said, "What are the packages you have?"
- 2:20And then I said, "What's the cheapest
- 2:21that you're willing to do deliver these
- 2:24packages for?" And I said, "Okay, if I
- 2:26go get you customers and I sell it, can
- 2:29I keep this percentage of what I sell if
- 2:31I go get them and I sell them and then
- 2:34you get the customer for life after
- 2:36that." And as soon as I had some
- 2:38businesses that said yes, I then got
- 2:41them customers and I kept the money and
- 2:44then they delivered the services and got
- 2:45customers for free. And so, when I lost
- 2:48everything, I made $100,000 the first
- 2:50month after I lost everything. And so,
- 2:52within the example, it's like I did that
- 2:54in 30 days.
- 2:55And so, you can absolutely do that. It's
- 2:57just that you have to work like a maniac
- 3:00and fundamentally it was I had an offer
- 3:02that worked that I knew worked for a
- 3:04specific local business, which was a
- 3:07gym. So, I knew I could run a weight
- 3:08loss challenge and I knew I could spend
- 3:10money on the ads and I didn't have to
- 3:12spend a lot because you know, if you can
- 3:14get 10 to 1, you spend 100 bucks, you
- 3:15have a thousand. And then after you have
- 3:17a thousand, you spend 10, now you have
- 3:18you spend one, you make 10 and you're
- 3:19good to go, right?
- 3:21Um,
- 3:22and so,
- 3:23that was so then I would get limited by
- 3:25the facility's ability to handle
- 3:26customers. So, I would try and find the
- 3:28most empty facilities because I knew I
- 3:29could sell them till they were full
- 3:30usually within 3 weeks. And so, that is
- 3:33literally what I did. So, step-by-step,
- 3:35I had an offer, number one. Number two,
- 3:38I had ads that I could record with my
- 3:41phone.
- 3:42Step three, I posted those ads and
- 3:44pushed them to a landing page. Step
- 3:46four, the landing page, this is at the
- 3:48time, just went to Google Sheet.
- 3:50Uh, step six, I called the leads on the
- 3:53Google Sheet to make sure that they got
- 3:54scheduled. And then uh I think I'm on
- 3:57step seven, I would meet with those
- 3:59leads and I would present the offer that
- 4:00I advertised to them. And then I would
- 4:02get them to give me money for that
- 4:03offer.
- 4:04And then I let the business handle the
- 4:07delivery of the services and I get the
- 4:08cash.
- 4:09It's the easiest business that you can
- 4:10run. It's one person. It's functionally
- 4:12an affiliate business.
- 4:15>> If you were going to think of the
- 4:16easiest offer
- 4:17right now,
- 4:18what might it be?
- 4:20>> Uh I mean
- 4:22>> Cuz I think a lot about winner's effect
- 4:24and how people
- 4:25I like to give people
- 4:27I don't know, those tactful gems even
- 4:30though they're not useful long-term
- 4:32because long-term is just the
- 4:34fundamentals, but to establish some type
- 4:36of winner's effect.
- 4:38>> Well, the nature of the offer is going
- 4:40to have to be So,
- 4:42one is you have to decide whether you're
- 4:43B2B or B2C, right? So, am I going to
- 4:45sell to consumers or am I going to sell
- 4:46to businesses, right? If I had no
- 4:49knowledge of anything,
- 4:50um and I just knew just basic AI stuff,
- 4:53it's not that difficult to go into a
- 4:55normal business to say, "Hey, can I
- 4:56observe your business for free
- 4:59and come with an AI plan that saves you
- 5:03at least $100,000, and would you be
- 5:05willing to give me a third of the
- 5:07savings or 20% of the savings that I get
- 5:10you if I can demonstrate that it will
- 5:11save that amount of money?"
- 5:13Most businesses would say yes.
- 5:16And this is like it's nothing up front.
- 5:17I just need these commitments.
- 5:19Like I don't I don't think like
- 5:22And then someone might say, "Okay, well,
- 5:23how do I get in touch with those
- 5:24businesses?" You've got two feet and two
- 5:26hands. You can knock on a door.
- 5:28Like you have a phone with you know,
- 5:30you've got two thumbs. You can text
- 5:31people. You can DM them. You can call
- 5:32them. You can email them. Like you can
- 5:34post content about it. Like there's 100
- 5:36ways. You just got to let people know
- 5:37about it. And the thing is is like is
- 5:38that an in-demand service right now?
- 5:40Yes.
- 5:41And so, the issue is more that people
- 5:42just don't have any skills.
- 5:43Like if you have skills, making money is
- 5:45not that hard. You do something for
- 5:46somebody else that they don't know how
- 5:47to do. So, that means you need to learn
- 5:48how to do So, learn how to do
- 5:49stuff and then do it for somebody else
- 5:52who doesn't want to learn how to do
- 5:53stuff, which really just comes down to
- 5:54like you have to be willing to work.
- 5:57>> What's the one thing people waste most
- 5:59of their time on that doesn't actually
- 6:01make them money?
- 6:02>> I mean everything that is not the work.
- 6:05Like I have one plaque on my on my wall
- 6:07that says focus is subtraction.
- 6:10Like everything that is not the thing is
- 6:12a distraction. So, if we define
- 6:14commitment as the elimination of
- 6:15alternatives, people are not committed.
- 6:17And so, the most focused person in the
- 6:18world, most focused video game player in
- 6:20the world would not eat, would not
- 6:21sleep, would not drink water. They would
- 6:22only play video games and anything that
- 6:23is not video games would then be
- 6:26less focused. So, if you drink water,
- 6:28you're less focused than the guy that
- 6:30plays 100%. Now, is that sustainable?
- 6:32No, but for the period of time that
- 6:34person was playing, that person would be
- 6:35the more focused person. And so, there
- 6:38are a very small number of activities
- 6:40that generate money.
- 6:42And
- 6:43most of everything else is just noise.
- 6:45Like you have to let people know that
- 6:47you exist.
- 6:49You have to
- 6:50make them an offer that solves a
- 6:52specific problem in exchange for money.
- 6:55You have to get agreement from them and
- 6:56you have to exchange money for services.
- 6:58And then you have to deliver that
- 6:59product or service to them. Like it's
- 7:00it's I don't even like
- 7:03I don't know what else there is. Like I
- 7:05don't know how it gets that complicated.
- 7:06Like that's it.
- 7:09And people get I think I think really
- 7:11what it is is like people get paralyzed
- 7:12by trying to pick perfectly. They try to
- 7:15think like I want to have the perfect
- 7:16business. Well, like unless you're Bezos
- 7:18or Zuck
- 7:19who actually started
- 7:21their first business and are still in
- 7:22their first business as a gazillion
- 7:24dollar company,
- 7:25the vast majority of entrepreneurs that
- 7:27I know,
- 7:30your first business is not your last
- 7:31business. It is your first stepping
- 7:32stone. And so, I just try to get people
- 7:35to consider um get a stranger to give
- 7:37you money to do something or for
- 7:39something that you you for them.
- 7:41That's it.
- 7:43Like that's that's all of business. It's
- 7:45literally just accepting money from a
- 7:46stranger. So you like you need a way to
- 7:48process money, you need an LLC if you
- 7:49want to use credit cards. You could do
- 7:50it for cash and not have any of that
- 7:54Like I actually I struggle with the
- 7:55question cuz I'm like what part are we
- 7:57missing here?
- 7:58And I think it's because there's so many
- 7:59people saying a lot of words that they
- 8:00don't understand and confusing a large
- 8:03percentage of people. It's like well you
- 8:04have to start with a morning routine.
- 8:05It's like bro, you don't need to do any
- 8:06of that. You need to let somebody know
- 8:08that you can do something for them and
- 8:10ask them if they want you to do it for
- 8:11them for money.
- 8:13If you like this video and you're
- 8:14business owner who wants to break
- 8:15through your current revenue ceiling, I
- 8:16distilled every lesson from scaling 10
- 8:18businesses past 10 million and three
