- 0:02May the peace of the Lord be with you
- 0:03all as we bring to you the readings of
- 0:06today's Holy Mass.
- 0:09Let us now listen to the word of God.
- 0:16October 27th, 2026.
- 0:19Tuesday of the 30th week in ordinary
- 0:21time.
- 0:25>> Today is Tuesday, October 27th, 2026.
- 0:30And Jesus compares the kingdom of God to
- 0:32a tiny mustard seed and a small amount
- 0:34of yeast.
- 0:36Both images remind us that God's work
- 0:38often begins quietly and grows in ways
- 0:41we may not immediately see.
- 0:44The readings invite us to trust God's
- 0:46action in our lives and to allow his
- 0:48love to transform our homes,
- 0:50relationships, and daily choices.
- 0:55As we place ourselves in the presence of
- 0:57God and open our hearts to his living
- 1:00word.
- 1:00>> [music]
- 1:01>> In the name of the Father and of the Son
- 1:04and of the Holy Spirit.
- 1:06Amen.
- 1:10Lord our God, help us trust the quiet
- 1:12work of your grace in our lives.
- 1:15Teach us to be faithful in small things
- 1:18and patient when we do not immediately
- 1:21see the results.
- 1:22May your love grow within us and
- 1:24transform our homes, relationships, and
- 1:28daily actions.
- 1:29Through Christ our Lord.
- 1:31Amen.
- 1:35Contextual insight to the first reading.
- 1:39Saint Paul teaches that Christian
- 1:41relationships should be shaped by mutual
- 1:43reverence for Christ and self-giving
- 1:46love.
- 1:47He uses marriage as an image of the
- 1:49profound relationship between Christ and
- 1:51the church, emphasizing love, care, and
- 1:55sacrifice.
- 1:56The reading reminds us that genuine
- 1:58Christian love seeks the good of the
- 2:00other rather than simply demanding what
- 2:02we want.
- 2:06>> A reading from the letter of St. Paul to
- 2:08the Ephesians.
- 2:12Be subject to one another in the fear of
- 2:15Christ.
- 2:16Women should be subject to their
- 2:18husbands as to the Lord.
- 2:21For the husband is the head of the wife,
- 2:23just as Christ is the head of the
- 2:25church.
- 2:27He is the savior of his body.
- 2:30Therefore, just as the church is subject
- 2:32to Christ, so also let wives be subject
- 2:35to their husbands in all [music] things.
- 2:38Husbands, love your wives, just as
- 2:41Christ also loved the church and handed
- 2:44himself over for her, so that he might
- 2:46sanctify her, cleansing her by the
- 2:48washing of water in the word of life, so
- 2:51that he might present to himself a
- 2:52glorious church, not having a stain or
- 2:55wrinkle or anything of this kind, but so
- 2:58that she would be holy and immaculate.
- 3:01So,
- 3:02too, husbands should love their wives as
- 3:05their own bodies.
- 3:07He who loves his wife loves himself.
- 3:11For no one has ever hated his own flesh,
- 3:13but instead he nourishes and cherishes
- 3:16it,
- 3:16>> [music]
- 3:16>> as Christ also does for the church.
- 3:20For we are parts of his body, of his
- 3:22flesh and of his bones.
- 3:25For this reason, a man shall leave
- 3:27behind his father and mother, and
- 3:29[music] he shall cling to his wife, and
- 3:32the two shall be one flesh.
- 3:34This is a great [music] sacrament,
- 3:37and I am speaking in Christ and in the
- 3:40church. [music]
- 3:41Nevertheless, each one of you should
- 3:43love his wife as himself, and a woman
- 3:46should fear her husband.
- 3:49The word of the Lord.
- 3:54>> Contextual insight to the responsorial
- 3:56Psalm.
- 3:58Psalm 128 [music] describes the blessing
- 4:01that comes to those who fear the Lord
- 4:03and walk in his ways.
- 4:06It presents a picture of family life,
- 4:08fruitful work, and peace flowing from a
- 4:10life centered on God.
- 4:13The Psalm reminds us that God's blessing
- 4:15often becomes visible through the
- 4:17ordinary goodness of faithful daily
- 4:19living.
- 4:23>> Responsorial Psalm.
- 4:25The response [music] is
- 4:27Blessed are those who fear the Lord.
- 4:33Blessed are all those who fear the Lord,
- 4:35who walk in his ways.
- 4:37For you will eat from the labors of your
- 4:39hands.
- 4:41Blessed are you, and it will be well
- 4:42with you.
- 4:45Blessed are [music] those who fear the
- 4:46Lord.
- 4:49Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
- 4:51at the sides of your house.
- 4:53Your sons will be like new plants of
- 4:55olives around your table.
- 4:58Blessed are those who fear the Lord.
- 5:02Behold, so shall the man be blessed who
- 5:05fears the Lord.
- 5:07May the Lord bless you from Zion,
- 5:09>> [music]
- 5:09>> and may you see the good things of
- 5:10Jerusalem during all the days of your
- 5:12life.
- 5:14Blessed are those who fear the Lord.
- 5:19>> Contextual insight to the Gospel.
- 5:23Jesus compares the kingdom of God to a
- 5:26mustard seed and to yeast mixed into
- 5:28flour.
- 5:30Both images emphasize how something
- 5:32small can gradually produce something
- 5:34much greater.
- 5:36The Gospel teaches us to trust that
- 5:38God's grace can work quietly within
- 5:40individuals, families, communities, and
- 5:43the world until until effects become
- 5:46visible.
- 5:49>> Alleluia. Alleluia.
- 5:52Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven
- 5:55and earth. You have revealed to little
- 5:57ones the mysteries of the kingdom.
- 6:00Alleluia. Alleluia.
- 6:05A reading from the holy gospel according
- 6:07to St. Luke.
- 6:11And he said, "To what is the kingdom of
- 6:14God similar?
- 6:16And to what shall I compare it?
- 6:18It is like a grain of mustard seed,
- 6:21which a man took and cast into his
- 6:23[music] garden.
- 6:24And it grew, and it became a great tree,
- 6:27and the birds of the air rested in its
- 6:29branches. [music]
- 6:31And again, he said, "To what shall I
- 6:33compare the kingdom of God?
- 6:36It is similar to leaven,
- 6:37>> [music]
- 6:37>> which a woman took and hid in three
- 6:39measures of wheat flour until it was
- 6:42entirely leavened."
- 6:45The gospel of the Lord.
- 6:49>> Reflection of today's liturgy.
- 6:53In today's gospel, Jesus asks what the
- 6:56kingdom of God is like.
- 6:58Instead of giving a complicated
- 7:00explanation, he uses two very ordinary
- 7:03images, a mustard seed and yeast.
- 7:06One begins as something tiny and grows
- 7:10into something significant.
- 7:12The other disappears into the dough, yet
- 7:14quietly transforms the whole mixture.
- 7:18Jesus is teaching us something important
- 7:21about how God often works.
- 7:24We sometimes expect God to work
- 7:26dramatically.
- 7:28We want immediate answers to our
- 7:30prayers, instant changes in our
- 7:32circumstances, [music] and visible signs
- 7:34that everything is moving in the right
- 7:36direction.
- 7:38But the kingdom often grows quietly.
- 7:41A small act of kindness, a sincere
- 7:44prayer, a decision to forgive, a word of
- 7:47encouragement, or a simple act of
- 7:49service may seem insignificant at the
- 7:51moment. Yet, God can use these small
- 7:53beginnings to accomplish something much
- 7:55greater.
- 7:57This is also why we should never
- 7:59underestimate the value of our ordinary
- 8:01lives.
- 8:02>> [snorts]
- 8:03>> We may not preach to crowds or
- 8:05accomplish extraordinary things, but we
- 8:07can bring God's kingdom into our home
- 8:10through patience, understanding,
- 8:12sacrifice, [snorts]
- 8:13and love.
- 8:14A parent who patiently cares for a
- 8:16child, a spouse who chooses forgiveness,
- 8:20a friend who listens, or a person who
- 8:22quietly helps someone in need may be
- 8:24participating in God's work in ways that
- 8:27will never make headlines.
- 8:29Saint Paul gives us a practical example
- 8:32of this kind of transforming love.
- 8:35He calls Christians to mutual respect
- 8:38and self-giving love, especially within
- 8:41marriage.
- 8:42His teaching points toward a love that
- 8:44does not simply ask, "What can I
- 8:47receive?"
- 8:48but asks, "How can I give myself for the
- 8:50good of another?"
- 8:52This kind of love may begin quietly, but
- 8:55when practiced [music] consistently, it
- 8:57can transform an entire household.
- 9:00The responsorial Psalm also reminds us
- 9:03that God's blessings often appear in
- 9:05ordinary things, work, family,
- 9:08relationships, and daily life.
- 9:11We do not always recognize holiness
- 9:14because we expect it to look
- 9:15extraordinary. [music]
- 9:17But God can build his kingdom through
- 9:19the simple things we do faithfully
- 9:21[music] every day.
- 9:22What matters is not always how
- 9:24impressive an action appears, but
- 9:26whether it is done [music] with love and
- 9:29faithfulness.
- 9:31Today, let us not become discouraged
- 9:33because our efforts seem small.
- 9:36Perhaps the prayer we offer seems too
- 9:38simple.
- 9:39Perhaps the kindness we give seems
- 9:41unnoticed.
- 9:43Perhaps the change we are trying to make
- 9:44in ourselves seems painfully slow.
- 9:48Trust the work of God.
- 9:49Like the mustard seed and the yeast,
- 9:52grace can be doing something beneath the
- 9:54surface that we cannot yet see.
- 9:57Let us remain faithful, patient,
- 9:59>> [music]
- 10:00>> and loving knowing that God can
- 10:02transform small acts of faith into
- 10:05something beautiful for his kingdom.
- 10:12Let us pray.
- 10:16Lord Jesus, help us trust the quiet work
- 10:19of your grace.
- 10:21Give us patience when our efforts seem
- 10:23small and courage to remain faithful
- 10:26when we cannot see the results.
- 10:29May our prayers, sacrifices, kindness,
- 10:33and love become seeds through which your
- 10:35kingdom grows in our homes and in the
- 10:37lives of others.
- 10:39Jesus, we trust in you.
- 10:41Amen.
- 10:46Never think that a small act of love is
- 10:48insignificant. [music]
- 10:50In God's hands, a small seed can become
- 10:53a great tree and a little yeast can
- 10:55transform the whole dough.
- 10:59Let us remain faithful in the ordinary
- 11:01things God places before us each day.
- 11:05May our homes, relationships, work, and
- 11:08simple acts of kindness become places
- 11:10where his kingdom quietly grows.
- 11:13In the name of the Father and of the Son
- 11:16and of the Holy Spirit.
- 11:18Amen.
