Full transcript
- 0:00Um, with that being said,
- 0:02we've we've worked on our content a lot.
- 0:04This is the year of the trust economy.
- 0:07Um, I think I called this at the end of
- 0:09last year and I feel like I'm more
- 0:11right. I think it aged like a fine wine.
- 0:13Um, we are in we are in the we are in
- 0:15the show-me times, not the tell-me
- 0:16times.
- 0:17All right? And so that means that we
- 0:19need to you need to demonstrate
- 0:20expertise in as many varied conditions
- 0:24as possible with as many diverse
- 0:26avatars, or rather the avatars that
- 0:28represent most broadly uh, the types of
- 0:31customers that you serve, solving the
- 0:32specific problems that they have in the
- 0:34way that you want to solve them that
- 0:35gets them the outcome they're looking
- 0:35for. All right? That is content from an
- 0:38education perspective that drives
- 0:40commerce. That is content that drives
- 0:41commerce. That is views that turn into
- 0:43cash. Right? If you're just getting
- 0:46you're like doing memes or doing
- 0:46entertainment, there's nothing wrong
- 0:47with that. It's just that you're just a
- 0:48media business and eventually going to
- 0:49sell eyeballs to an advertiser. Right?
- 0:51But if you want to sell from your own
- 0:53[ __ ] right? Sell your own [ __ ] You
- 0:55want to sell community, own school, you
- 0:56want to sell you want to sell fencing
- 0:59services, you want to sell you want to
- 1:01sell home design, you want to sell
- 1:02solar, whatever the hell you're selling,
- 1:05education is the door. Right? That is
- 1:07how you gain influence. That is how you
- 1:08gain authority. That you give people
- 1:09instructions that they can follow and
- 1:10good [ __ ] happens for them. Now, in
- 1:12order for them to follow your
- 1:13instructions, there's a couple things
- 1:14that have to have to happen.
- 1:16Number one, the instructions have to be
- 1:18easy to follow, right? Which means you
- 1:20got to talk in the in words that other
- 1:21people understand. All right? Number
- 1:24two,
- 1:25they have to believe you that they that
- 1:27they are worth following. So if we
- 1:29decrease the comprehension, we decrease
- 1:30the cost of at least understanding what
- 1:32to do. Right? Then we have to increase
- 1:34conviction that they're going to get the
- 1:35payoff, which makes the risk or the
- 1:37gamble of taking those actions worth it.
- 1:40Right? And so this is why the proof in
- 1:42this trust economy world is not in the
- 1:43pudding, but it is the [ __ ] pudding.
- 1:45Right? The reason that proof is what
- 1:47matters more than anything is because
- 1:49tell me how you're going to grow my
- 1:50e-commerce store except you've never run
- 1:52an e-commerce store.
- 1:54Right? Tell me how you're going to teach
- 1:55me how to sell except you've never sold
- 1:57anything. Tell me how you're going to
- 1:58help me make content but you don't have
- 1:59a personal brand.
- 2:01Right? Like it's just the big obvious
- 2:02[ __ ] And I get these questions all the
- 2:03time like, "How do I build a personal
- 2:05brand?" It's like, "Just do shit."
- 2:07You You will get a bigger personal brand
- 2:09by doing [ __ ] in reality for 5 years and
- 2:12then starting your personal brand. Now,
- 2:14to be clear, I think if you want to
- 2:16document along the way, as long as you
- 2:18state the facts and tell the truth,
- 2:19you're good you're good in my book.
- 2:20Right? But what happens is people are
- 2:21like, "How do I How do I counter
- 2:23imposter syndrome?" I'm like, "Bro,
- 2:25imposter syndrome is you feeling ashamed
- 2:27for lying." Oops, there we go. Is you
- 2:29feeling ashamed for lying because you
- 2:31are misrepresenting the truth. Sorry,
- 2:32I'm trying to adjust this thing so it's
- 2:33not [ __ ] up. There we go.
- 2:35Um is you misrepresenting the truth,
- 2:37Jesus. This is why we can't have nice
- 2:38things. Hold on.
- 2:40Yeah? Yeah?
- 2:41Ah, [ __ ] good enough.
- 2:43See if that works. All right. Um
- 2:46And so I'll give you an example of this
- 2:48whole imposter syndrome thing that you
- 2:49probably just abolish from your your
- 2:50mental whatever.
- 2:53Here it is. So, I had a guy who came up
- 2:55to me uh
- 2:56at one of our workshops in Vegas. And so
- 2:58he was like, "Hey, man, um how do you
- 3:00deal with imposter syndrome?" I was
- 3:01like, "All right, what do you What do
- 3:02you sell, man?" He said, "I help agency
- 3:04owners
- 3:05uh get booked appointments." And I was
- 3:07like, "Okay. Uh how do you do it?" And
- 3:08he's like, "We run outbound teams." I
- 3:10was like, "Okay. That makes sense. I get
- 3:11it." I was like, "So, what are you
- 3:12dealing with imposter syndrome for?" And
- 3:14he's like, "Well,
- 3:15you know, I had an agency, but the
- 3:17agency didn't really work that that
- 3:19well. Uh I didn't really make any money
- 3:21with it uh because I knew how to get
- 3:23customers, but I I couldn't really keep
- 3:24them."
- 3:25And I was like, "Okay."
- 3:27Still trying to figure out where the
- 3:28imposter syndrome is coming from.
- 3:30And he was like, "Well,"
- 3:32I was like, "Are you pretending like
- 3:33you're good at running an agency?" And
- 3:35he was like,
- 3:37"Kind of." And I was like, "Yeah, bro,
- 3:39that imposter syndrome is lying.
- 3:42So, yeah, you should feel bad about
- 3:44lying.
- 3:45Okay?" I was like, "But if you told the
- 3:47truth, it probably would be even more
- 3:48effective. If you just said, 'Hey, I had
- 3:51an agency. I sucked at running an
- 3:53agency. I was really good at selling
- 3:55agency clients. And so then I said,
- 3:57well, why don't I just do that for
- 3:59agency owners who are actually good at
- 4:00delivering for clients?" And then this
- 4:02business was born. Everyone would be
- 4:04like, "Oh, that actually makes a lot of
- 4:05sense." And so what you forget is that
- 4:07the truth is the most compelling thing
- 4:09out there from a marketing perspective.
- 4:10The reason that state the facts and tell
- 4:12the truth is the number one thing that
- 4:13we say
- 4:14at acquisition.com in marketing is
- 4:17because it sells the most. The truth
- 4:19sells the most. I will say this again.
- 4:21The truth sells the most. The truth
- 4:24converts.
- 4:25All right? Above everything else. But,
- 4:28it has to be the whole [ __ ] truth.
- 4:30All right? It has to be the whole truth.
- 4:32And so he can't say
- 4:34uh just half of the story. You have to
- 4:37say all the [ __ ] where you look bad,
- 4:38too. And then people will believe the
- 4:40[ __ ] where you look good.
- 4:42That's the That's the whole game.
- 4:44Right? I got asked a bunch of times
- 4:46throughout my career. They're like, "So,
- 4:47should I think I was on Diary of a CEO."
- 4:49He's like, "Alex, should people talk to
- 4:51you about happiness?" I'm like, "No.
- 4:53That's not my I don't have authority
- 4:54there. All right? I'm the like, "Hey,
- 4:56you're trying to figure out how to scale
- 4:57your business?" That's me. You're like,
- 4:59"Trying to figure out how to sell shit?"
- 5:00That's me. I can help you there. I got a
- 5:02lot of proof there. Right? But it's
- 5:03like, "Hey, how do you How do you gain
- 5:05Sorry, this thing is just wobbly as
- 5:06[ __ ] Um
- 5:09So my team is watching this. The thing
- 5:11just keeps swinging. Maybe we can get a
- 5:12different tripod. Um anyways. Sorry,
- 5:15guys. We'll uh I'll do my best. I will
- 5:17do my best. Otherwise, this We're going
- 5:18to be on a This is just going to be a
- 5:20wild
- 5:21a wild ride. I'm sorry for the
- 5:22shakiness. But at least you know it's
- 5:24raw, right? It's raw and authentic.
- 5:26That's me. Raw and authentic. We're raw
- 5:28dogging this life.
- 5:30Nope. Falling the other way.
- 5:32It's either the camera swings or it tips
- 5:34over. That's my problem right now.
- 5:37Stay.
- 5:38All right.
