1. 0:00Golden Wind introduces us to Giorno
2. 0:02Giovanna as the son of Dio and a
3. 0:04Japanese woman. One question a lot of
4. 0:06JoJo fans have, however, is how Giorno's
5. 0:08mother escaped from Dio. According to
6. 0:11the original manga, Dio considered women
7. 0:13to be mere tools or food, and that how
8. 0:16Giorno's mother escaped is unknown. Like
9. 0:18many of the characters we met back in
10. 0:20part 3, Giorno's mother seemed to have
11. 0:22been hypnotized by Dio's supernatural
12. 0:24charisma. In Stardust Crusaders, Hol
13. 0:27Horse notes that these captive women
14. 0:29actually give themselves over to Dio for
15. 0:31him to take their blood. At some point
16. 0:33while living with him, she also took a
17. 0:35photo of him, which Giorno is shown to
18. 0:37carry in his wallet. It's possible that
19. 0:39since Dio viewed these women as
20. 0:41disposable, he wouldn't really care or
21. 0:43possibly not even notice if one escaped.
22. 0:45One explanation for this, however, is
23. 0:47shown in the spin-off manga Crazy
24. 0:49Diamonds Demonic Heartbreak, a prequel
25. 0:51to part 4 starring Josuke and Hol Horse.
26. 0:54The manga is written by Kohei Kadono,
27. 0:56author of the part 5 spin-off Purple
28. 0:58Haze Feedback. One chapter features a
29. 1:00flashback to shortly after Hol Horse's
30. 1:02failed assassination of Dio, when he
31. 1:04stumbles onto a group of women that he
32. 1:06discarded. He finds that some of them
33. 1:08are still alive and reluctantly carries
34. 1:10them outside and sends them away on a
35. 1:12taxi to a hospital. The extended novel
36. 1:15version of the story also goes on to
37. 1:16clarify that the women were pregnant.
38. 1:19So, the scene implies that these women
39. 1:20could be the mothers of Giorno and some
40. 1:22of Dio's other sons that appeared in
41. 1:24part 6.
