  1. 0:00creating content completely changed my
  2. 0:02life in just 90 days. And I know that
  3. 0:05sounds absolutely insane. But in this
  4. 0:07video, I want to share with you the
  5. 0:08story of exactly how that happened. So
  6. 0:10in 2023, I started something I'd been
  7. 0:12thinking about for a very, very long
  8. 0:15time. And at that point, I had an
  9. 0:16Instagram account, but I wasn't posting
  10. 0:18my face. I was just posting, you know,
  11. 0:20little Photoshop designs that I've been
  12. 0:22making. And I remember I had this idea
  13. 0:23that was playing over and over in my
  14. 0:26head to start creating content and start
  15. 0:28getting in front of the camera. But I
  16. 0:30was just overthinking that first video
  17. 0:32so much. And I was getting so into my
  18. 0:34own head about how I was speaking and
  19. 0:36how I looked on camera. And I'm not even
  20. 0:38joking. I remember filming that first
  21. 0:39video about 10 times before I actually
  22. 0:42worked up the courage to finally post
  23. 0:44something because I'm naturally a huge
  24. 0:46introvert and I always have been. So the
  25. 0:48idea of putting myself out there like
  26. 0:50that, it doesn't really come naturally
  27. 0:51to me. And on top of that, I had all
  28. 0:53these thoughts about, you know, people
  29. 0:55that I've known in the past from my
  30. 0:56university or from back at school that
  31. 0:58they would see the videos that I was
  32. 1:00posting and kind of think I was cringe
  33. 1:03or think it was weird. And it's so funny
  34. 1:04because looking back now, those, you
  35. 1:06know, anxieties and those limiting
  36. 1:08beliefs, they seem so ridiculous in
  37. 1:10hindsight. But even though I had all
  38. 1:12this overthinking going on, I knew I had
  39. 1:14ideas and insights that I wanted to
  40. 1:16share with the world. And I guarantee
  41. 1:18that you can relate to that feeling. And
  42. 1:19that positive drive ended up being a
  43. 1:21much bigger and a much stronger
  44. 1:23motivator than all these negative
  45. 1:25thoughts that I was having. So
  46. 1:27eventually I finally posted my first
  47. 1:30Instagram reel. And for me it felt like
  48. 1:32this huge event. You know, I'd finally
  49. 1:33overcome my fears and all my self-doubt.
  50. 1:36And the video got about 10 views. And
  51. 1:38then I posted another one. I think that
  52. 1:39got like eight views. So it was actually
  53. 1:41going down. Now, of course, to put in
  54. 1:43all that work and to get nothing back
  55. 1:44was was very demotivating at the time.
  56. 1:47But because I'd done all this
  57. 1:48overthinking and I'd gone so far down
  58. 1:50the YouTube rabbit hole when it comes to
  59. 1:52learning how to create content, I'd
  60. 1:54heard the same piece of advice over and
  61. 1:56over. And that was to be consistent. And
  62. 1:58I'm sure you've heard that advice a
  63. 2:00million times as well. So with that
  64. 2:02advice echoing in my mind, I decided to
  65. 2:04just keep going. And I remember I was
  66. 2:06posting to that account every single day
  67. 2:08without fail. And then on the side I was
  68. 2:10learning about video editing and you
  69. 2:12know the importance of the hook of the
  70. 2:14video and you know getting confident
  71. 2:16speaking on camera and all that kind of
  72. 2:17stuff. And then absolutely out of
  73. 2:19nowhere one of the videos I posted
  74. 2:22completely exploded to about 4 million
  75. 2:25views. And I cannot describe what that
  76. 2:27felt like because it literally happened
  77. 2:29overnight. So I remember going to bed
  78. 2:31and I had about maybe 1,000 followers
  79. 2:33before I went to bed. And then I woke up
  80. 2:34the next day, checked my phone and I was
  81. 2:36on about 12,000 followers. like I almost
  82. 2:39I must have almost fallen out of the bed
  83. 2:41with from shock. And there is no doubt
  84. 2:43about it that this experience completely
  85. 2:46changed my life. But I don't mean
  86. 2:47because of the followers or the views or
  87. 2:50the money or anything like that. My life
  88. 2:51changed because of the effect it had on
  89. 2:54my self-belief. And I've talked about
  90. 2:55this on the channel before, but I went
  91. 2:57through this long period of trying to
  92. 2:59make money online. And I tried every
  93. 3:01single method that you can think of. So
  94. 3:03I tried drop shipping, affiliate
  95. 3:04marketing, SMMA, I tried to start a
  96. 3:06clothing brand. literally everything you
  97. 3:08can think of and I just failed over and
  98. 3:10over again at everything I tried. And
  99. 3:12then finally after this long period of
  100. 3:15failure, something finally worked and
  101. 3:17that really helped me maybe even from a
  102. 3:19mental health perspective because it
  103. 3:21helped me realize that maybe it's not
  104. 3:22me. Maybe there's nothing wrong with me
  105. 3:24specifically. Maybe I've just been doing
  106. 3:26the wrong things or using the wrong
  107. 3:28vehicle to get to where I want to go.
  108. 3:30But in all honesty, my life has changed
  109. 3:32in many other ways as well. I've had,
  110. 3:34you know, incredible opportunities to
  111. 3:35work with companies like Adobe. And I've
  112. 3:37also been traveling around the world for
  113. 3:39the last 2 years straight at this point,
  114. 3:41which again has been absolutely
  115. 3:42life-changing and such an amazing
  116. 3:44experience. And the maddest thing is
  117. 3:45that none of this would have happened if
  118. 3:47id listened to that fear and all that
  119. 3:50self-doubt and all that overthinking
  120. 3:51that I was doing. Although, having said
  121. 3:53that, looking back now almost 2 years
  122. 3:55later, there are definitely a few
  123. 3:56lessons that I wish I'd known when I was
  124. 3:58first getting started. And I think
  125. 4:00you'll find this really valuable if
  126. 4:01you're, you know, just getting started
  127. 4:02or maybe you're considering starting
  128. 4:04your own content creation journey. So
  129. 4:06the first lesson I would tell myself is
  130. 4:08that nobody cares about your videos. And
  131. 4:10that's actually a good thing. So because
  132. 4:12as humans we are very naturally
  133. 4:14self-obsessed, we're very naturally
  134. 4:16self-centered. We think that everybody
  135. 4:19is watching and judging everything that
  136. 4:21we're doing. But that is so so not true.
  137. 4:24Everybody else is way too worried about
  138. 4:26their own lives and their own problems.
  139. 4:28But what this means is that at the start
  140. 4:30you have complete freedom to essentially
  141. 4:32be bad at creating content. You have
  142. 4:34this special period of time where you
  143. 4:37can experiment and learn your craft. And
  144. 4:39I think this is a really good way to
  145. 4:41reframe this because you can look at
  146. 4:42this early stage where nobody is
  147. 4:44watching kind of as a gift because later
  148. 4:46on when people do start watching you'll
  149. 4:48be sharper, you'll be clearer and you'll
  150. 4:50be so much more confident on camera. The
  151. 4:53second thing I would tell myself if I
  152. 4:54could go back in time would definitely
  153. 4:56be to start messy. So, like I said, I
  154. 4:58filmed that first video that I was going
  155. 5:00to post to my Instagram about 10 times
  156. 5:02before I actually posted it. And that
  157. 5:04was such a waste of time. And what I
  158. 5:06learned from that is that you will never
  159. 5:07feel 100% ready. Like, it will always
  160. 5:10feel quite unnatural to to start
  161. 5:12speaking to a camera if you've never
  162. 5:14done it before. And yes, your early
  163. 5:15videos are going to be awkward. Your
  164. 5:17editing is probably going to be
  165. 5:18terrible. You're probably going to
  166. 5:19cringe at how you how you look or how
  167. 5:21you speak. And in fact, I still think
  168. 5:22that now. Like when I edit my videos,
  169. 5:24I'm like, "Why do I sound like that?"
  170. 5:26like why did my why does my voice sound
  171. 5:27like that? But that's how it's supposed
  172. 5:29to feel. It is never going to feel
  173. 5:31completely natural in the beginning. But
  174. 5:32if you just get going and start building
  175. 5:34that momentum, I reckon you are probably
  176. 5:36ahead of 99% of people who want to be
  177. 5:39content creators because that 99%, they
  178. 5:42never even get started in the first
  179. 5:44place. Okay, so the third and final tip
  180. 5:46that I would give myself if I could go
  181. 5:48back in time would be to adopt a student
  182. 5:51mindset. And I think you're going to
  183. 5:52find this one really interesting because
  184. 5:54one of the biggest traps that I see new
  185. 5:56creators falling into is they're just
  186. 5:58following that same old advice that
  187. 6:00we've heard a million times, which is
  188. 6:01just to keep posting, be consistent, and
  189. 6:04eventually you'll make it. But
  190. 6:06unfortunately, that's not necessarily
  191. 6:08true. Because if you keep posting videos
  192. 6:10consistently, but nobody wants to watch
  193. 6:12them, you're never going to see results.
  194. 6:14Why why would your channel grow in the
  195. 6:16first place? Because consistency does
  196. 6:17matter, of course, but it only matters
  197. 6:19when it's paired with constantly
  198. 6:21improving the content that you're
  199. 6:22posting. Now, here's the thing. Your
  200. 6:24confidence on camera is naturally going
  201. 6:26to improve over time, but you also need
  202. 6:28to adopt a student mindset when it comes
  203. 6:30to things like learning how to edit or
  204. 6:33how to present and articulate your ideas
  205. 6:35or even studying, you know, content
  206. 6:37strategies like titles, thumbnails,
  207. 6:39branding, all that kind of stuff that
  208. 6:41you can see that is working for other
  209. 6:42creators. Because you've got to remember
  210. 6:44that wherever you are in your content
  211. 6:46journey, there is always more to learn
  212. 6:48and always more to study. So yeah, if
  213. 6:50you're going to be putting in all this
  214. 6:51effort to become consistent, you need to
  215. 6:53make sure that all that effort is also
  216. 6:55moving you forward as well. Okay, so
  217. 6:57what does the future look like for me
  218. 6:59now? So I absolutely love Wave Index and
  219. 7:02I love the brand that I've built around
  220. 7:04my designs, but to be completely honest
  221. 7:06with you, I feel like I've hit a bit of
  222. 7:08a ceiling when it comes to, you know,
  223. 7:10that brand in particular. So, with this
  224. 7:12brand new channel that you're watching
  225. 7:13right now, my my goal is to essentially
  226. 7:15help people on that exact same journey
  227. 7:17with creating content and building a
  228. 7:20personal brand because I feel like I
  229. 7:21have all this experience with building a
  230. 7:23brand, building an audience, and
  231. 7:25creating content. And I just think it
  232. 7:26would be so amazing to build a business
  233. 7:28where I can genuinely help people
  234. 7:30achieve the exact same thing
  235. 7:32essentially. So, on that note, if you
  236. 7:34are thinking about starting your own
  237. 7:35journey as a content creator, I actually
  238. 7:37made this video right here where I
  239. 7:39essentially walk you through step by
  240. 7:41step how to make your first $1,000 from
  241. 7:44content creation. So, yeah, click onto
  242. 7:46that video and I will see you there.
