  24. 0:48it.
  25. 0:48>> What's your usual process for making
  26. 0:50beats? Are you sample based? Like
  27. 0:53>> yeah, I'm quite a sample base to be
  28. 0:55honest. That's just out of laziness and
  29. 0:56it's not because I can't. It's it's
  30. 0:58normally bro when I'm just in the
  31. 0:59moment. Yeah. I'll find a quick loop.
  32. 1:01Boom boom boom be done in 20.
  33. 1:03>> Yeah.
  34. 1:04>> You know what I'm saying? I think for
  35. 1:05the sake of the content,
  36. 1:06>> it's got these keys, brother.
  37. 1:08>> We could do a few. We could make
  38. 1:10something from scratch and then if we
  39. 1:11want to fly through some, we could use
  40. 1:12some samples as well. I could I could
  41. 1:14show you some of my loops, too.
  42. 1:15>> Yeah. Yeah. I know you got cold loops.
  43. 1:16Even if you want to start with that,
  44. 1:17bro, send me a loop just to get into the
  45. 1:19groove of it. I mean, just so we can
  46. 1:21just, you know what I mean?
  47. 1:23>> [music]
  48. 1:30[music]
  49. 1:31>> That's sense right there.
  50. 1:37[music]
  51. 1:38>> It's a little bit slower, but we could
  52. 1:39speed it up, I guess. What plugins you
  53. 1:41two using these days? The Omnosphere.
  54. 1:44>> Omnosphere quite a bit.
  55. 1:45>> I know.
  56. 1:46>> Pure Lowi. I'm [ __ ] with a lot at the
  57. 1:48moment.
  58. 1:48>> Pure Lowi.
  59. 1:49>> Pure Lowi. It's another Atari vibe.
  60. 1:51Carbon Electra. Do you know about Carbon
  61. 1:53Electra?
  62. 1:54>> Is that the same as Electra X?
  63. 1:56>> Nah. Nah. Electra X I use. [ __ ] with
  64. 1:58Electra X every especially in the grime
  65. 1:59days. All the apps and that.
  66. 2:01>> The Carbon Electra is a new one, but
  67. 2:03it's got crazy bases and that.
  68. 2:05>> Same company though.
  69. 2:06>> No, it's actually done by the company
  70. 2:08that do Scala.
  71. 2:09>> Oh, okay.
  72. 2:10>> Carbon Electra 2. Carbon Electra. If you
  73. 2:12haven't [ __ ] around with that, it's
  74. 2:14crazy. It's an underground one as well.
  75. 2:16Like
  76. 2:16>> I've seen many people using it. Yeah.
  77. 2:18It's one of those that I found I was
  78. 2:19like, "Oh [ __ ] the bass is old." Yeah.
  79. 2:22That [music]
  80. 2:30[music]
  81. 2:34[music]
  82. 2:43[music]
  83. 2:47>> play instruments as well.
  84. 2:48>> Nah, just the keys still. Just the keys.
  85. 2:50I wouldn't even say I'm like expert on
  86. 2:52it, but just taught myself over the
  87. 2:54years.
  88. 2:54>> Yeah.
  89. 2:55>> To do what I need to do on it, you know,
  90. 2:57>> like top lines and stuff.
  91. 2:58>> Yeah.
  92. 3:00[music]
  93. 3:04>> How did you connect with Sen?
  94. 3:06>> It's from around here, is it? So, I
  95. 3:07started working with him. Yeah.
  96. 3:10>> On early on.
  97. 3:11>> So, yeah, just working on him early on
  98. 3:13and then he kind of just rised to
  99. 3:15stardom. Do you know what I'm saying?
  100. 3:16>> Felt like he took off quick. Although he
  101. 3:18was making music for a long time before.
  102. 3:20>> Yeah, he's making music for a long time.
  103. 3:21Yeah, he's making music like autotune
  104. 3:23and that and obviously I had my eye on
  105. 3:26him from there. Like I actually produced
  106. 3:27one of his first tunes, isn't it?
  107. 3:29>> Oh, back in the day when he was doing
  108. 3:30more wavy [ __ ]
  109. 3:31>> Yeah. Essential. See, it's called Over
  110. 3:33You, is it?
  111. 3:34>> Oh, okay.
  112. 3:36[music]
  113. 3:38>> Oh, yeah. Yeah, I think I've heard this.
  114. 3:42>> I [singing] don't even know the year.
  115. 3:44This is years ago. So, yeah, man. I've
  116. 3:46been tattooing with him for a minute,
  117. 3:47isn't it? Do you know what I mean?
  118. 3:48>> Yeah. It's mad. It's like when I was
  119. 3:49growing up, it was like West London. It
  120. 3:51wasn't really the place to be. All the
  121. 3:52rappers, everything was all South
  122. 3:54London. You know what I'm saying? Over
  123. 3:55the years, you know what I'm saying?
  124. 3:56With S AJ, Tracy, Western, you know what
  125. 3:59I'm saying? We've built a nice little
  126. 4:00>> Yeah, definitely
  127. 4:01>> nice little vibe. It's like a [ __ ]
  128. 4:02Sometimes it's like a tourist sport
  129. 4:04here.
  130. 4:15>> [music]
  131. 4:23[music]
  132. 4:25>> You
  133. 4:25>> usually use quite a few different sounds
  134. 4:26for the perks.
  135. 4:28>> Yeah.
  136. 4:28>> Yeah. It used to just be like one
  137. 4:30>> kind of use like one. Now it's kind of
  138. 4:32doing the same thing but using
  139. 4:34>> space and loads of different things in
  140. 4:36it. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Kind
  141. 4:37of like when I'm hearing what Sense is
  142. 4:38jumping on, hearing like, "All right,
  143. 4:40cool. You've got like a lot going on,
  144. 4:43but then kind of [music] still open as
  145. 4:45well."
  146. 4:45>> Yeah.
  147. 4:51[music]
  148. 4:57[music]
  149. 5:02>> [music]
  150. 5:07[music]
  151. 5:18[music]
  152. 5:30[music]
  153. 5:56[music]
  154. 6:05[music]
  155. 6:09>> Yo, real quick. If you like the drums
  156. 6:11we're using today, you're going to love
  157. 6:12Drum Saga, which is my brand new bundle
  158. 6:14I'm dropping next week. There's five new
  159. 6:16kits for drill, hood, trap, and jerk,
  160. 6:18trap, early 2000s, and boom bat. This is
  161. 6:21going to be your new go-to stash for
  162. 6:23everything. So, don't forget to join the
  163. 6:24weight list using the link in the
  164. 6:25description. Now, let's get back into
  165. 6:27it.
  166. 6:27>> Your all-time favorite placement is
  167. 6:29whipping excursion. That went crazy,
  168. 6:31man.
  169. 6:31>> Yeah, whip excursion was crazy. And whip
  170. 6:33excursion was good for the time that it
  171. 6:35happened because it was like a real
  172. 6:38>> bridge the gap moment. I feel, you know
  173. 6:40what I'm saying? It ended up on Drake's
  174. 6:41tour
  175. 6:42>> and I feel like this was at a moment
  176. 6:43where the UK wasn't getting fully
  177. 6:46embraced by Americans. You know what I'm
  178. 6:47saying? And then this was at a time
  179. 6:49where it's like raw like gigs has got on
  180. 6:51Drake's tour with whipping excursions.
  181. 6:53You know what I'm saying? And that's
  182. 6:54coming out every night and shutting it
  183. 6:55down. And I actually went to one of the
  184. 6:56Drake shows and that's how I ended up in
  185. 6:59the studio with Gunner Gigs Walker
  186. 7:02Flocker. That was cuz they were all on
  187. 7:03tour with Drake.
  188. 7:04>> How did you connect with him the first
  189. 7:05time? Like how did that track even come
  190. 7:07about?
  191. 7:07>> Gigs that a lot of that was like online.
  192. 7:10So I done a I done a tune with that
  193. 7:12Giggs was featured on years ago. Years
  194. 7:14and years ago.
  195. 7:15>> Yeah. [snorts] And I think it was just a
  196. 7:18a thing where I like put it up on the
  197. 7:20gram in it just like featuring gigs and
  198. 7:22all that [ __ ] And I think it just hit
  199. 7:23me like no bro that beat is cold been
  200. 7:26thinking who the producer was sort of
  201. 7:27thing. I mean cuz cuz gigs is quite trap
  202. 7:30and this is again at the time where
  203. 7:32>> there weren't many UK producers really
  204. 7:34doing that dark trap sound. You know
  205. 7:36what I mean? And then we ended up
  206. 7:38linking up at one of our old studios in
  207. 7:42Cicklewood. Dingy studio. Do you know
  208. 7:44what I'm saying? That's when we done the
  209. 7:46blowbacks. We done blowback first, which
  210. 7:48he ended up getting Stormy on it.
  211. 7:50>> So that was the first record we done and
  212. 7:52then we linked up again at a studio that
  213. 7:54gig sorted out. Gigs had his dog there
  214. 7:56and that and that's when we done
  215. 7:57whipping excursion. You know what I'm
  216. 7:59saying?
  217. 7:59>> Yeah.
  218. 8:03I have
  219. 8:09[music]
  220. 8:12grime [ __ ] Yeah.
  221. 8:17>> [music]
  222. 8:21>> I normally cook the idea up and uh in
  223. 8:24that yeah half hour and that and then I
  224. 8:27like to have like a bunch of stuff done
  225. 8:29and then once my misses and kids and
  226. 8:31that are in asleep.
  227. 8:32>> Yeah.
  228. 8:33>> I mean I'm in my kitchen
  229. 8:35>> just tweaking things
  230. 8:36>> getting me roll my weed
  231. 8:38>> and I just put my headphones on and just
  232. 8:40because you know what it is. It's like
  233. 8:41the end result is almost so much better
  234. 8:43if I just do it in my headphones, mix
  235. 8:45it, level it. In here, I'll get gas fam
  236. 8:47and I'll just turn the 808 up more than
  237. 8:49it should be in certain little things,
  238. 8:51and then I listen back in the headphones
  239. 8:53and it's never hitting the way I want
  240. 8:54to. If I do it in headphones and I bring
  241. 8:57it to the studio and then I listen back,
  242. 8:58I'm like, "Yeah, crispy.
  243. 9:03[music]
  244. 9:09[music]
  245. 9:17[music]
  246. 9:22>> [music]
  247. 9:26[music]
  248. 9:28>> favorite UK artist right now. Do you
  249. 9:30know who I'm who I'm rating right now? I
  250. 9:31would I wouldn't say favorite UK artist,
  251. 9:33you know, cast from Liverpool. Yeah.
  252. 9:36>> Yeah. He's hard.
  253. 9:36>> He's cold. Like he like when when his
  254. 9:38freestyles pop up like I'm literally
  255. 9:40there like doing the stank face.
  256. 9:42Yeah, the 110 one.
  257. 9:45>> He done he done a new one recently
  258. 9:46still.
  259. 9:47>> And it's just like the things that he
  260. 9:48says and the way he's like he's cold
  261. 9:50still.
  262. 9:51>> Yeah. He articulates his verse as well,
  263. 9:53don't he?
  264. 9:54>> Just like so clear. [music]
  265. 10:00[music]
  266. 10:06Anything else? We're going to check
  267. 10:07arcade. See [singing and music] if we
  268. 10:08got any like vocal
  269. 10:11>> any like vocal lines.
  270. 10:15>> Oh, like a phrase or something.
  271. 10:16>> Yeah, that's where they're actually
  272. 10:17saying.
  273. 10:17>> Yeah.
  274. 10:25>> It saves the day sometimes.
  275. 10:30>> Run this through the vocal template.
  276. 10:40>> [music]
  277. 10:44>> I know you got
  278. 10:47[music]
  279. 10:55heat.
  280. 10:58[music]
  281. 11:00Heat. Heat. N.
  282. 11:05[music]
  283. 11:10Heat. Heat. N.

  286. 11:25[music]
  287. 11:30Heat. Heat. [music]
  288. 11:37[music and singing]
  289. 11:44Heat. Heat. [music]
  290. 12:10>> [music]
  291. 12:24[music]
  292. 12:34>> Is it sounding cold?
  293. 12:36[music] All right, girl.
  294. 12:41[music]
  295. 12:58[music]
  296. 12:58Always
  297. 13:04[music]

  302. 13:31can hear Eddie on his side still.
  303. 13:34Eddie Drer. Eddie Drer. [music]
  304. 13:50Yeah. One more. One more. [music]
  305. 14:02[music]
  306. 14:03Heat. Heat. N.
  307. 14:08[music]
  308. 14:13[music]
  309. 14:29tie though. Which
  310. 14:30>> one you preferring out the three? You
  311. 14:32got a favorite?
  312. 14:34>> Maybe that one, you know, but maybe
  313. 14:35that's recency bias. That one's rolling.
  314. 14:37You see? See, like me, like I like I
  315. 14:39think I quite like you. I like the dark
  316. 14:41hard [ __ ] You know what I'm saying?
  317. 14:42Like it's it's got to be like if I've
  318. 14:44got briefs and I've got little things
  319. 14:45I'm following, I'll go into different
  320. 14:47bags.
  321. 14:47>> Don't know why I'm just Yeah, I'm always
  322. 14:49drawn to the dark [ __ ] That's it, man.
  323. 14:51Keys as well. It's something about just
  324. 14:53those keys, those B minors, those C
  325. 14:55minors, the 808 hits different. You know
  326. 14:57what I'm saying? Everything just
  327. 14:59>> That one's cold. code.
