- 0:01This is a different kind of video
- 0:03because it's a real experiment.
- 0:06In the last few days, we've seen how AI
- 0:08has been used for various hacker attacks
- 0:11; we've seen AI used to reverse engineer
- 0:14many applications, they've remade
- 0:17AutoCAD, the Office suite, the Adobe
- 0:19suite, but at the same time, many users
- 0:22are using AI to, let's say, attack
- 0:25physical devices, devices like old MP3
- 0:28players that didn't work, optimizing
- 0:30them and getting them running again.
- 0:35They are using AI to connect it to
- 0:37things like smart bracelets, Whoop, etc.
- 0:39, to create applications for them.
- 0:43And above all, in recent days, there is
- 0:46news of users connecting Claude Code to
- 0:49Android TVs, those famous Android TVs
- 0:52that are extremely slow, full of ads,
- 0:55full of useless animations, with all
- 0:57these background services tracking you,
- 1:00to crack, unlock, and optimize them,
- 1:03remove all these useless applications,
- 1:06clean up the Android TV, and bring it
- 1:09back to life,
- 1:12making it useful again, fast, quick to
- 1:15turn on, to start applications; and the
- 1:17best part is that you can customize it
- 1:20however you want.
- 1:23When I saw these posts and videos, I
- 1:26said, "No, I have an old TV and I want
- 1:29to try it, and maybe I can make content
- 1:32where I experiment with you, using
- 1:34Claude Code on a slow Android TV."
- 1:38So, let's start the experiment.
- 1:41To unlock the television, I will use
- 1:43this repository on GitHub called TV
- 1:45Detox.
- 1:47There are really many of these coming
- 1:50out, and it's nothing more than a
- 1:52repository that does a kind of reverse
- 1:55engineering of your old Android TV to
- 1:58make it faster, leaner, removing all the
- 2:01ads and improving the launcher.
- 2:05Let's try it on this Android TV with
- 2:08these launchers that are full of ads and
- 2:11super slow.
- 2:14First of all, you need to go to settings
- 2:16.
- 2:17General settings.
- 2:20Then go to system information.
- 2:26We need to go to the Android TV OS build
- 2:29section and press seven times.
- 2:311 2 3 4 5 6 7.
- 2:36Now we have enabled developer features.
- 2:42Now, going back, you will see that the
- 2:45developer setting is available, and here
- 2:48you need to enable USB debugging.
- 2:55Okay, by enabling this setting, we can
- 2:57let our coding agent control the
- 2:59television.
- 3:02Now the last thing left is to go to the
- 3:04Wi-Fi settings.
- 3:07And go see what the IP address is within
- 3:10your network.
- 3:12Write it down because it will then be
- 3:14used by Claude.
- 3:16Now, quite simply, take your coding
- 3:18agent.
- 3:19I will use Claude Code. It must be on
- 3:22the same Wi-Fi network as the television
- 3:24.
- 3:25Let's copy this prompt.
- 3:28Let's paste it. What's in this prompt?
- 3:31It contains a description of everything
- 3:33it needs to do.
- 3:35It has the GitHub repository for the
- 3:38project in question, and lists things it
- 3:40must not do.
- 3:42For example, google.apps.
- 3:45apps.tvlauncher, never turn off Google
- 3:47Play Services, basically some warnings.
- 3:51And here in this part, "my TV is a" and
- 3:53we put the brand name of the television
- 3:56. So we copy this entire prompt and
- 3:58paste it.
- 4:01My TV is a Xiaomi, and then at the very
- 4:04bottom I have to tell it what the IP
- 4:06address is on my local network, the one
- 4:08we saw earlier in the Wi-Fi settings.
- 4:12So my IP
- 4:15is 192.168.1.121.
- 4:21And now we press enter and let our
- 4:24coding agent run, first of all searching
- 4:26the local network to see if it finds the
- 4:29TV.
- 4:32Then, finding the TV, thanks to the fact
- 4:35that we enabled developer settings, it
- 4:38will be able to get inside and enable
- 4:41the debugging tools.
- 4:44Do you understand that doing this could
- 4:47involve risks? Yes, I know. Go ahead.
- 4:51When this pops up on your television,
- 4:53it's a good sign because it means Cloud
- 4:56Code has identified it and is trying to
- 4:58get inside to modify it.
- 5:00Click "Allow."
- 5:02Oh, and look at this beauty. Xiaomi
- 5:05tracking and promos. Which ones do you
- 5:07want to turn off?
- 5:09Everything. Xiaomi user tracking. Why do
- 5:12they have to do analytics tracking to
- 5:14send to the Chinese? Get rid of it, out
- 5:15.
- 5:16Mi TV Plus, Xiaomi free streaming
- 5:18channels, out.
- 5:20Xiaomi promo channels, out, gone.
- 5:23On-screen manual, this one too. Away,
- 5:24now we’re cleaning everything. We’re
- 5:26going to make this TV run super fast.
- 5:28Extra. Which one do you want to turn off
- 5:30? Xiaomi Gallery. What do I need that
- 5:31for? Xiaomi Music, gone.
- 5:33Play Games. Ah, I can keep Play Games.
- 5:36Feedback, printing, out.
- 5:39Then preinstalled apps you might not use
- 5:41and want to turn off. So, I'll keep
- 5:44Netflix, I'll keep Prime Video, YouTube
- 5:46Music away, out, Patchwall Xiaomi Tab,
- 5:49away, out, I don't use it.
- 5:52Any other app you want to turn off?
- 5:55I'll keep YouTube. Xiaomi USB media app
- 5:58.
- 5:59I could keep that. I don't know what
- 6:01this other one is. Away, out.
- 6:03Send. Clean everything. Let's do a
- 6:05global cleanup.
- 6:08Which applications would you like in the
- 6:10first row when you open the Home Screen
- 6:12, in order?
- 6:13Here it says suggested list.
- 6:15YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney
- 6:17Plus, RaiPlay, Mediaset Infinity,
- 6:19Jellyfin, or let the app decide.
- 6:24I want YouTube, Netflix, for example,
- 6:26and I can tell it which apps I want.
- 6:29YouTube, Netflix,
- 6:34Spotify,
- 6:38Prime Video,
- 6:41and RaiPlay, for example, and that's it
- 6:44.
- 6:46Install TV Detox Home Screen.
- 6:49Then we can also adjust all the
- 6:51animations, we can customize it, we can
- 6:53do everything and more.
- 6:55It is spectacular to connect a coding
- 6:58agent to a device, it allows you to do
- 7:00practically all these optimizations.
- 7:03So, let's see how it practically rewrote
- 7:06the home design for me.
- 7:09And now it asks me what would you prefer
- 7:11to do? Show it to me on the TV, activate
- 7:13it with the home button.
- 7:15A design all my own. Let's talk about
- 7:17how to make a home with a custom design
- 7:19, a separate project. So I can also
- 7:21change this design here. I can add other
- 7:23things.
- 7:24Now I tell it to activate the home
- 7:26button, or rather I say show it to me on
- 7:28the TV so we can see it.
- 7:31And here is our new Home, super
- 7:32minimalist, super fast, fluid, without
- 7:34useless animations, without advertising
- 7:36.
- 7:37Beautiful.
- 7:39Let's see if I can manage to get it to
- 7:41put the weather and temperature of
- 7:42Madrid here now.
- 7:45Add the weather and temperature for
- 7:48Madrid next to the time,
- 7:53let's see if it does it.
- 7:54And here is the weather I had added to
- 7:56the home.
- 7:58It made it small here on the left, I
- 7:59could have told it to take up more space
- 8:01, but it placed it nicely.
- 8:03Madrid 13 ° cloudy.
- 8:06And now I'll have some fun and have it
- 8:08also add the stock market trends for
- 8:09Apple, Google, Nvidia, SpaceX, All World
- 8:11, Vanguard, Semiconductors, WVSM to the
- 8:13home.
- 8:16Let's make a spectacular, minimal,
- 8:18useful, and fast homepage.
- 8:21And here is my new Home, beautiful. We
- 8:24have all the stocks I asked for. Apple
- 8:26is the only one in the green. Google,
- 8:28Nvidia, SpaceX, All World,
- 8:29semiconductors are all in the red.
- 8:32I could add others, I could do anything
- 8:34, a widget, and it's truly beautiful to
- 8:36be able to customize the television
- 8:38however you want, making it much faster
- 8:40.
- 8:41All applications work, everything works
- 8:44.
- 8:45It really, really is a blast.
- 8:48Let's open RaiPlay.
- 8:51What can I say? It did a really
- 8:53excellent job.
- 8:54We can also add more complex widgets, we
- 8:56can add animations, we can practically
- 8:59do everything with our television and it
- 9:01is really simple to use because it does
- 9:04everything with cloud code.
- 9:07Once the TV settings are set just right
- 9:09, with the developer flags enabled, then
- 9:11the TV takes care of the rest.
- 9:15Actually, if we wanted, we could have
- 9:16drawn a design on paper, uploaded the
- 9:18photo, and told it exactly what to put.
- 9:21Maybe under here, Thursday, October 29th
- 9:23, by the time I could have also put the
- 9:25trends of my YouTube channel. I mean,
- 9:27it's beautiful to be able to do
- 9:28something like this. I would say the
- 9:30experiment was more than successful.
- 9:33In this case, we used AI for a
- 9:35benevolent purpose; we didn't hack or
- 9:38crack anything because the Android TV
- 9:40settings themselves allow you to develop
- 9:43and do these things.
- 9:46So we simply connected our coding agent
- 9:48that went and optimized everything. And
- 9:50why is it used in a benevolent way?
- 9:52Because, above all, it gets rid of all
- 9:55the advertising and all the tracking
- 9:57applications.
- 9:59Because many TVs, you don't know it,
- 10:01have microphones, they have cameras,
- 10:03they record you, they know when you're
- 10:05home, when you're not home, if you have
- 10:07young children, if you have dogs; I mean
- 10:10, all of this, this mass surveillance
- 10:12with all these background programs,
- 10:14thanks to AI you can remove them, you
- 10:16can track them down, you can delete them
- 10:18entirely and you can make your
- 10:20television clean.
- 10:23In theory, actually, using AI could
- 10:25allow us to remove what is the planned
- 10:27obsolescence that exists in many devices
- 10:29.
- 10:31Because AI can go in and modify the code
- 10:33, maintain it, improve it over time,
- 10:35optimize it, and make it faster.
- 10:39Because these TVs, Android TVs here, are
- 10:42designed on purpose to be filled with
- 10:44junk and slowed down, both Android TVs
- 10:47and many other devices, but also
- 10:49Firesticks, Fire TVs are the same thing
- 10:52.
- 10:54You just need a moment to check if there
- 10:56is an already prepared repository or ask
- 10:59Cloud Code Codex directly if there is a
- 11:01way to connect to it, a way to, let's
- 11:03say, optimize and modify it.
- 11:06So AI always has two sides to the coin.
- 11:11AI used poorly for hacker attacks, AI
- 11:13used well to optimize software or remove
- 11:16all those tracking parts.
- 11:20And so today this was an experiment, in
- 11:22my opinion, very, very fun. I didn't
- 11:25have, well, expectations, I knew it
- 11:27would work, but until you try it on your
- 11:29TV you don't know.
- 11:31You also get that little thrill of "
- 11:33Okay, now it's going to break it,
- 11:34nothing will work anymore." But instead
- 11:36no, everything worked very, very well
- 11:38and that's it. I hope you enjoyed this
- 11:40video. Write a comment below telling me
- 11:42your thoughts and just think about how
- 11:44many devices you have at home that you
- 11:47could optimize with artificial
- 11:49intelligence. Follow me to stay updated
- 11:51on the next video and see you soon. Bye
- 11:53.
