- 0:00When a horsefly bites you, it begins to
- 0:03tear through your skin using its six
- 0:05needle-like tools.
- 0:07According to science, the female
- 0:09horsefly's mouthparts consist of six
- 0:11distinct structures.
- 0:13These include two sharp mandibles and
- 0:15two serrated maxillae that cut the skin
- 0:18and damage small blood vessels.
- 0:22After this, the horsefly releases saliva
- 0:24containing anticoagulants that prevent
- 0:27the blood from clotting quickly. Then,
- 0:29it drinks the pooled blood using its
- 0:32sponge-like labellum.
- 0:34This means the horsefly doesn't just
- 0:36insert a needle to drink blood; it first
- 0:38cuts the skin to draw blood out and then
- 0:40consumes it.
- 0:42But just reflect on this verse of the
- 0:44Quran. In Surah Al-Hajj, verse 73, Allah
- 0:48states the meaning: those you call upon
- 0:51besides Allah cannot even create a
- 0:53single fly.
- 0:55Even if they all work together to do so
- 0:57.
- 0:58Imagine, if such a complex system exists
- 1:01within a tiny fly, how magnificent must
- 1:03be the power of its Creator.
