Hillary Clinton tells BBC "we have no links" to Jeffrey Epstein — Transcript

2. 0:02Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in an
3. 0:03interview with our partners at the BBC
4. 0:06said the Trump Justice Department has
5. 0:07not complied with the law requiring the
6. 0:09release of all Epstein files.
7. 0:12>> Get the files out. They are slowwalking
8. 0:15it. They are redacting the names of men
9. 0:18who are in it. They are stonewalling
10. 0:21legitimate requests from members of
11. 0:22Congress. That has nothing to do with
12. 0:24us. Something is going on. They know it.
13. 0:28I know it. If they're going to have me
14. 0:30testify, I would prefer to do it in
15. 0:32public because I want everybody to see
16. 0:33it at the same time. If I have to do it
17. 0:36behind closed doors, they're not going
18. 0:37to like what I have to say because I
19. 0:38have very strong opinions about what it
20. 0:41is they're hiding and who they are
21. 0:42protecting.

23. 0:46Hill. So, what else did Hillary Clinton
24. 0:47have to say about her or Bill's
25. 0:50relationship with or to either Epstein
26. 0:52or Galain Maxwell?
27. 0:54>> Well, good evening, Major. We know that
28. 0:56our reporting partners at the BBC
29. 0:59directed or directly asked whether or
30. 1:02not Hillary Clinton regretted her ties
31. 1:06and uh her husband's ties to Jeffrey
32. 1:08Epste to which she said there are no
33. 1:10ties. She said that the relationship
34. 1:12between both parties were strictly based
35. 1:15on the charitable work that they did
36. 1:17together through the Clinton Global uh
37. 1:20Initiative Foundation. Take a listen to
38. 1:22what she had to say.
39. 1:24>> We have no links. We have a very clear
40. 1:28record that we've been willing to talk
41. 1:30about which my husband has said he took
42. 1:33some uh rides on the airplane for his
43. 1:36charitable work. I don't recall ever
44. 1:39meeting him. Um
45. 1:40>> did you ever meet your Maxwell?
46. 1:42>> I did on a few occasions and thousands
47. 1:45of people go to the Clinton Global
48. 1:47Initiative. So, it to me is not is not
49. 1:51something that is really at the heart of
50. 1:55what this matter is about.
51. 1:58Yeah. Speaking of at the heart of this
52. 2:00matter, the Clintons are claiming that
53. 2:02they're just trying to be as transparent
54. 2:04as possible about this. They're saying
55. 2:06they've been forthcoming with the House
56. 2:09Oversight Committee as it's launched its
57. 2:11own probe into the Epstein estate as
58. 2:15well as uh the people connected to him
59. 2:18potentially. Uh but I want to mention
60. 2:21one thing that was also asked of uh the
61. 2:24secretary there. There was a photo of
62. 2:26her husband, Bill Clinton, in a hot tub
63. 2:28that we showed as we teased here. She uh
64. 2:30refuted that claim saying that there was
65. 2:32a hot tub. But again, alleged and it's
66. 2:34on screen right now. It's a pretty uh
67. 2:36interesting photo, but she said that uh
68. 2:38this is no implication of anything
69. 2:41nefarious, but again maintain that they
70. 2:44had this working relationship with him,
71. 2:46but have been uh fully uh disclosing all
72. 2:49that information to the relevant uh
73. 2:52bodies as it relates to this major. But
74. 2:54it's worth level setting this a little
75. 2:56bit because the Clintons, both Hillary
76. 2:58and Bill, spent quite a few months with
77. 3:00the House Oversight Committee trying to
78. 3:02work out how this testimony would occur.
79. 3:04And it didn't look like as if they were
80. 3:06rushing into the venue to testify. And
81. 3:10only when it was clear that some House
82. 3:11Democrats might vote to hold them in
83. 3:13contempt this get resolved. So, one of
84. 3:15the things that is yet to be resolved,
85. 3:16there's a date and there's a time, but
86. 3:18whether it'll be fully public or in
87. 3:20private to be released via video later.
88. 3:22Do we know anything more about that?
89. 3:24>> Yeah. Well, Secretary Clinton in this
90. 3:26interview said that she is going to show
91. 3:28up and whether or not it's going to be
92. 3:29public or private is up to uh the panel.
93. 3:33But ultimately though, she's still
94. 3:34advocating for this to be made in the
95. 3:36public. She said if this is done behind
96. 3:39closed doors, she's going to be
97. 3:41essentially unfiltered, going after
98. 3:43people she believe may be connected to
99. 3:46the Trump administration and her
100. 3:47answers. But she wants, as I just said,
101. 3:50to be fully transparent about this
102. 3:52process. She also pointed out the
103. 3:55discrepancies in how the Republican
104. 3:57leadership on this panel has handled uh
105. 4:00requesting their information versus
106. 4:01others. She said her attorney has been
107. 4:04complying with uh the House Oversight
108. 4:06Committee providing documents. Others
109. 4:08who have been asked for information have
110. 4:10been able to do so in written
111. 4:12statements, but she says she believes
112. 4:14it's political motivated why they're
113. 4:16being targeted in this way. Major,
114. 4:18>> she also described this medic meeting,
115. 4:20her and Bill Clinton's testimony, as a
116. 4:21shiny object meant to distract. Torian
