  1. 0:00you were against same-sex marriage now
  2. 0:01you're for it you defended President
  3. 0:03Obama's immigration policies now you say
  4. 0:05they're too harsh you supported his
  5. 0:07trade deal dozens of times you even
  6. 0:08called it the gold standard now suddenly
  7. 0:10last week you're against it will you say
  8. 0:12anything to get elected well actually I
  9. 0:14have been very consistent over the
  10. 0:16course of my entire life I have always
  11. 0:18fought for the same values and
  12. 0:21principles do you think New York State
  13. 0:23should recognize gay marriage no no okay
  14. 0:30I
  15. 0:31believe that marriage
  16. 0:33is not just a bond but a sacred bond
  17. 0:37between a man and a woman I have uh not
  18. 0:41supported same-sex marriage I have
  19. 0:43supported civil Partnerships and uh
  20. 0:46contractual relationships I support
  21. 0:49marriage for lesbian and gay couples I
  22. 0:52support it personally and as a matter of
  23. 0:55policy and law so you're saying your
  24. 0:57opinion on gay marriage changed or you
  25. 0:59changed your
  26. 1:00mind you know I really I have to say I
  27. 1:03think you are um being very persistent
  28. 1:06but you are playing with my words and
  29. 1:09playing with what is such an I'm just
  30. 1:10trying to clarify so I can understand no
  31. 1:12I don't think you are trying to clarify
  32. 1:14I think you're trying to say that you
  33. 1:15know I used to be uh opposed and now I'm
  34. 1:17in favor and I did it for political
  35. 1:20reasons and that's just flat wrong so
  36. 1:21let me just State what I feel like you
  37. 1:23are implying and repudiate it I have a
  38. 1:27strong record I have a great commitment
  39. 1:30to this issue and I am proud of what
  40. 1:33I've done and the progress we're making
  41. 1:35yeah I'm saying I'm sorry I I just want
  42. 1:36to clarify what I was saying no I was
  43. 1:38saying that you maybe really believe
  44. 1:40this all along but you know believed in
  45. 1:41gay marriage all along but felt for
  46. 1:43political reasons America wasn't ready
  47. 1:45yet and you couldn't say it that's what
  48. 1:46I was thinking no that no that is not
  49. 1:48true it really is great how long you've
  50. 1:51supported great gay marriage yes I I
  51. 1:54could have supported it sooner well you
  52. 1:56did it pretty
  53. 1:58soon could have been sooner Fair
  54. 2:03Point just uh in July New Hampshire you
  55. 2:05told the crowd you quote take a backseat
  56. 2:07to no one when it comes to Progressive
  57. 2:09values I take a backseat to no one when
  58. 2:12you look at my record and standing up
  59. 2:14and fighting for Progressive values last
  60. 2:17month in Ohio you said you plead guilty
  61. 2:19to quote being kind of moderate and
  62. 2:21Center do you change your political
  63. 2:23identity based on who you're talking to
  64. 2:25no I think that uh like most people that
  65. 2:28I know I have a range of views but they
  66. 2:30are rooted in my values and my
  67. 2:33experience you know I get accused of
  68. 2:34being kind of moderate and
  69. 2:36Center I plead guilty just for the
  70. 2:39record are you a progressive or you a
  71. 2:40moderate I'm a
  72. 2:43progressive going through the emails um
  73. 2:47there were over 60,000 in total sent and
  74. 2:52received about half were work rated and
  75. 2:55went to the state department um and
  76. 2:58about half were person person that were
  77. 3:01not in any way related to my
  78. 3:06work when you speak to the public you
  79. 3:09say I turned over
  80. 3:12everything that's for the most part a
  81. 3:15direct quote when you talk to the public
  82. 3:18you say I turned over everything 90 to
  83. 3:2095% of my work-related emails were in
  84. 3:23the state system if they wanted to see
  85. 3:25them they would certainly have been able
  86. 3:27to do so you that is that is maybe the
  87. 3:3010th time you have cited that figure
  88. 3:32today it is and I have not heard anyone
  89. 3:34other than you ever cite that figure who
  90. 3:36who told you that 90 to 95% of your
  91. 3:39emails were on the state were in the
  92. 3:41state department system who told you
  93. 3:43that we learned that from the state
  94. 3:45department and their analysis of the of
  95. 3:47the emails that were already on the
  96. 3:49system the Inspector General report
  97. 3:50found that less than 1% less than 1% of
  98. 3:55State Department emails record emails
  99. 3:57were captured so they give a number of
  100. 4:00less than 1% and you give a number of
  101. 4:0490% I have uh absolute confidence that
  102. 4:08everything that could be in any way uh
  103. 4:11connected to work is now in the
  104. 4:14possession of the uh State Department
  105. 4:16this pile represents the emails that you
  106. 4:20sent or received about Libya in 2011
  107. 4:25from February through December of
  108. 4:272011 this pile
  109. 4:30represents the emails you sent or
  110. 4:33received from early 2012 until the day
  111. 4:36of the
  112. 4:37attack there's
  113. 4:39795 emails in this pile we've counted
  114. 4:43them there are 67 emails in this pile in
  115. 4:482012 and I'm troubled by what I see here
  116. 4:52I can only conclude by your own records
  117. 4:55that there was a lack of interest in
  118. 4:57Libya in 2012
  119. 4:59uh the server contains uh personal
  120. 5:02Communications from my husband and me I
  121. 5:06only time I got on the internet I did
  122. 5:08two emails and I ordered Christmas
  123. 5:11presents from a
  124. 5:14reservation otherwise I found people
  125. 5:16said embarrassing things on emails I
  126. 5:18didn't want to be one of
  127. 5:23them I mean and how many angels dance in
  128. 5:27the head of a pin I have I I have uh I
  129. 5:30have really uh nothing to uh I me how do
  130. 5:33you answer
  131. 5:35that I represented Wall Street as a
  132. 5:37senator from New York and I went to Wall
  133. 5:39Street in December of 2007 before the
  134. 5:42big crash that we had and I basically
  135. 5:45said cut it out quit foreclosing on
  136. 5:48homes quit engaging in these kinds of
  137. 5:50speculative behaviors now who's exactly
  138. 5:52to blame for the housing crisis and I
  139. 5:54think there is plenty of uh blame to go
  140. 5:57around home buyers who paid extra fees
  141. 5:59to avoid documenting their income should
  142. 6:02have known they were getting in over
  143. 6:04their heads of course we have to deal
  144. 6:06with the problem that the banks are
  145. 6:07still too big to fail we can never let
  146. 6:11the American taxpayer and middle class
  147. 6:13families ever have to bail out the kind
  148. 6:15of speculative behavior that we saw but
  149. 6:18we also have to worry about some of the
  150. 6:19other players AIG a big insurance
  151. 6:22company lieman Brothers an investment
  152. 6:25bank there's this whole area called
  153. 6:27Shadow banking that's where the experts
  154. 6:29tell me the next potential problem could
  155. 6:32come from so I'm with both Senator
  156. 6:35Sanders and governor omali and putting a
  157. 6:38lot of attention onto the banks and the
  158. 6:40plan that I have put forward would
  159. 6:42actually Empower Regulators to break up
  160. 6:45big Banks I represented New York and I
  161. 6:47represented New York on 911 when we were
  162. 6:50attacked where were we attacked we were
  163. 6:52attacked in downtown Manhattan where
  164. 6:55Wall Street is I did spend a whole lot
  165. 6:58of time and effort helping them rebuild
  166. 7:00that was good for New York it was good
  167. 7:01for the economy and it was a way to
  168. 7:03rebuke the terrorists who had attacked
  169. 7:05our country 911 was
  170. 7:09bad I agree with
  171. 7:12that time and time again you hear one
  172. 7:15thing in speeches and then you see a
  173. 7:17campaign that has the worst kind of
  174. 7:20tactics reminiscent of the same sort of
  175. 7:23Republican attacks on Democrats well I
  176. 7:26am here to say that it is not only wrong
  177. 7:30but it is undermining Core Democratic
  178. 7:33principles since when do Democrats
  179. 7:36attack one another on universal
  180. 7:37healthcare I have looked at I've looked
  181. 7:40at the legislation that Senator Sanders
  182. 7:43has proposed and basically he does
  183. 7:46eliminate the Affordable Care Act
  184. 7:48eliminates private insurance eliminates
  185. 7:50Medicare eliminates Medicaid Tri care
  186. 7:53children's health insurance program just
  187. 7:55because Senator Obama chose not to
  188. 7:57present a universal healthcare plan does
  189. 7:59not give him the right to attack me
  190. 8:03because I did so let's have a real
  191. 8:05campaign enough with the speeches and
  192. 8:08the big rallies and then using tactics
  193. 8:10that are right out of Carl Ro's Playbook
  194. 8:13this is wrong and every Democrat should
  195. 8:15be outraged the Democratic Party in the
  196. 8:18United States worked since Harry Truman
  197. 8:21to get the Affordable Care Act passed so
  198. 8:23shame on you Barack Obama it is time you
  199. 8:26ran a campaign consistent with your mess
  200. 8:29mesages in
  201. 8:32public Hillary Clinton's attempt to tout
  202. 8:34her foreign policy experience hounded
  203. 8:36her again on the campaign Trail today I
  204. 8:39made I you know I uh made a mistake in
  205. 8:43in describing it I she claimed she
  206. 8:45misspoke last week and was sleep
  207. 8:46deprived when she described Landing
  208. 8:48under sniper fire in TLA Bosnia
  209. 8:51something that didn't happen but CBS
  210. 8:53News has found several times in the past
  211. 8:55few months when Senator Clinton used the
  212. 8:57Bosnia trip to try to show her
  213. 8:59International experience December in
  214. 9:01Iowa know we landed in one of those
  215. 9:03Corkscrew Landings and ran out because
  216. 9:06they said there might be sniper fire I
  217. 9:09don't remember anybody offering me tea
  218. 9:11on the tarmac when that was happening
  219. 9:14then in February the welcoming ceremony
  220. 9:16had to be moved inside because of sniper
  221. 9:19fire and last week and I remember
  222. 9:21Landing under sniper fire we basically
  223. 9:24were told to run to our cars now that is
  224. 9:26what happened some differing accounts of
  225. 9:27your trip to Bosnia and I'm wondering if
  226. 9:29you can CL Veri I know you recall you
  227. 9:31know ducking under sniper fire and and
  228. 9:33Sinbad in his account who's on the trip
  229. 9:35he said that the most dangerous part was
  230. 9:37remembering where he was going to eat
  231. 9:38next you he's a comedian you know he's a
  232. 9:41comedian so you actually recall you know
  233. 9:43hearing gunfire and were you when we
  234. 9:45were when we were flying into Bosnia we
  235. 9:47came in in a uh evasive maneuver um
  236. 9:51there was no greeting ceremony and we
  237. 9:53basically were told to run to our cars
  238. 9:55now that is what happened after CBS News
  239. 9:57video showed what really happened with
  240. 9:59when she landed and greeted officials
  241. 10:01Senator Clinton maintained there were
  242. 10:03risks but explained to the Philadelphia
  243. 10:05Daily News why she was seen on the
  244. 10:07Bosnian tarmac greeting a young child if
  245. 10:10it was really so dangerous I was also
  246. 10:12told that the greeting ceremony had been
  247. 10:14moved away from the uh tarmac but that
  248. 10:19there was this 8-year-old girl and I
  249. 10:21said well I have I can't I can't rush
  250. 10:23buy her I've got to at least greet her
  251. 10:24so I greeted her I took her stuff and I
  252. 10:26left now that's my memory of it good to
  253. 10:28see you once again her memory doesn't
  254. 10:31match our
  255. 10:32videotape she and her daughter Chelsea
  256. 10:34lingered on the tarmac to greet US
  257. 10:36military officials took photos there was
  258. 10:40the group of seventh graders on the
  259. 10:42tarmac 2 and then Senator Clinton walked
  260. 10:45to the armor vehicle where she did
  261. 10:47eventually duck and
  262. 10:50enter it was one of the highlights of
  263. 10:52President Clinton's first term passage
  264. 10:54of the North American Free Trade
  265. 10:55Agreement also known as NAFTA critics
  266. 10:57blame NAFTA for the loss of
  267. 10:59manufacturing jobs in industrial States
  268. 11:01including Ohio and Pennsylvania Hillary
  269. 11:03Clinton helped get NAFTA approved she
  270. 11:06held at least five meetings to
  271. 11:07strategize about how to win
  272. 11:09Congressional approval she helped the
  273. 11:10White House block opposition from labor
  274. 11:12and environmental groups and she was the
  275. 11:15featured speaker at a crucial meeting
  276. 11:16participants in that event said quote
  277. 11:19her remarks were totally pr- NAFTA there
  278. 11:21was no equivocation for her support for
  279. 11:24NAFTA at the
  280. 11:26time you know NAFTA and the way it's
  281. 11:28been implemented has hurt a lot of
  282. 11:31American workers it was Clinton's
  283. 11:33campaign that contacted the Canadian
  284. 11:35government to reassure them about
  285. 11:37Clinton's anti-nafta rhetoric the
  286. 11:39Canadian press reporting that the source
  287. 11:41heard the chief of staff to Canada's
  288. 11:43prime minister say in a room full of
  289. 11:45Television journalists quote someone
  290. 11:47from Clinton's campaign is telling the
  291. 11:49embassy to take it with a grain of salt
  292. 11:51someone called us and told us not to
  293. 11:54worry and now you're in Ohio and your
  294. 11:57words are much different C the record is
  295. 11:59very clear well I I you don't have all
  296. 12:01the record because you can go back and
  297. 12:03look at what I've said consistently and
  298. 12:05oh I think that um everybody is in favor
  299. 12:08of free and fair trade and I think that
  300. 12:10uh U NAFTA is proving its worth I think
  301. 12:13unbalanced NAFTA has been good for New
  302. 12:14York and America was NAFTA a mistake
  303. 12:19NAFTA was a mistake to the extent that
  304. 12:22it did not deliver on what we had hoped
  305. 12:24it would your opponents are saying that
  306. 12:26that's really part of a larger pattern
  307. 12:28with you that you of avoid taking firm
  308. 12:30positions on controversial
  309. 12:33issues um
  310. 12:47[Music]
